My son and I stopped at this restaurant on our way home. It was recommended to us as a great place to get tacos. Unfortunately, neither of us were in the mood for tacos and opted for burgers and tots. The burgers were decent. Not bad at all but did make me think I probably should have ordered tacos since that is their specialty. The tater tots were good but there was nothing that made them stand out. We also ordered strawberry lemonade and dole whip to drink. Both were good and would order again. The service was nice, what you would expect from a small, local restaurant. The food here is delicious! The house made salsa is fresh and has just the right kick. I really like their grilled shrimp, and you have nice options: in the "terrible taco,", in the delicious quesadilla (highly recommended by locals), or even atop the yummy Mexican street corn. This place is raved about by locals, so I was excited to check it out. One thing I love is the decor and overall ambiance of the place. Very bright and fun. The staff were also friendly. However, our food took quite a long time to come out. I tried four of the tacos: birria, carnitas, carne asada and pastor. Being from the west coast where there's amazing and authentic Mexican food around every corner, I have high expectations for flavor. I found that all four tacos were very bland and disappointing. There was none of the bright fun flavors that I've come to love from Mexican food!! If this is the best tacos someone has had, they're seriously missing out. read more

The lady embodies the phrase "I'm rubber, you're glue"--she takes all criticism in stride and doesn't hide it from anybody, even when I mistakenly call her a "guy" while writing this review. The place has a fun vibe when it comes to staffing choices and ambiance. It's small, vibrant, and full of things to catch your eye inside the restaurant. They also help promote and support other local businesses, which is always an additional thumbs up. The menu is full of awesome daily specials, and they're not afraid to step outside the box with their dishes. Now, let's get to the food, which is what everyone really wants to hear about. The smash burger? Elite! Crispy meat lace on the patty from a ripping hot flat top and a proper smash, with a soft and toasted bun and well-seasoned beef. Three things that seem easy to get right, right? Wrong. I've seen a dozen burger spots fall short in at least one of these categories. I do have a bias towards a smash burger, but whatever, sue me. This place does them right! The birria tacos are good, not great. The flavor is banging, the beef texture is awesome, well-seasoned of course, and they don't skimp on the consommé or the cheese. Personally, I don't enjoy cilantro or raw onion very much. Yeah, I know, man-child lol! So don't take my criticism to heart when it comes to the tacos. The consommé has a strong cilantro flavor, so it's not my jam. I do recommend that if you get the tacos, dine in or eat them quickly--don't let them sit in takeout boxes for too long. They're corn tortillas soaked in consommé, so they're bound to get soggy over time. I didn't get a photo for some reason, but the queso fundido and chips are absolutely a hit, and you get a generous portion for the price. I recommend visiting and giving them a fair shake. read more

I absolutely love street tacos especially birria so I decided to give this place a shot since it had some good reviews for their Birria tacos. This place is more than just Mexican food as they are known especially for their smash burger which I will have to go back and try! Inside you will find a chill atmosphere with a bartender mixing up some of the customer's favorite drinks. Kinda reminds me of a little tiki bar. When I walked in the line was almost to the door. From the time I ordered to the time I received my food it was approximately 15 minutes which I didn't think was bad since they were so busy. Staff were all very friendly. As for me y review of their Birria tacos.....flavor was good but seemed overpowered by what I'm guessing to be a chipotle sauce that the menu stated is on these tacos. For me, the chipotle took away from the authentic taste of a good Birria taco. Even so, they were packed with great flavor and they were gone in no time! Next time I will order them without the chipotle and I would recommend to them that they just put this on the side to let the customer decide if they want that on the tacos. I live in Columbus Ohio and have been eyeing this place for months. My birthday was Friday so I finally decided that I'll make the drive out to Newark to give it a try. I am so glad that I did. I gorged myself I ordered the smash burger, two birria tacos, and the potelote. The smash burger was an absolute 10/10, loved the tacos and the potelote was great too. I also ordered a mixed drink called the painkiller which was also very good. I was a big fan of the decor, vibes and overall my only gripe is I don't live closer. This is a phenomenal spot and I really look forward to coming back soon. read more

Since all I can think about lately is birria tacos, I've made it my mission to know where all the best ones are! Since I live way out east of Columbus, MNCHS Kitchen caught my eye on Yelp. Though I think it only had maybe 1 review, the business photos on the page were enough to get me to visit. I rolled in right before closing on a Sunday, the truck's last open day of the week until Wednesday, grabbed a flight from inside of DankHouse, and was ready for MNCHS to make my birria dreams come true. To my (slight) dismay, they were out of Ramen for the evening, so my hopes of a $10 combo of birria ramen and 2 birria tacos were dashed. Instead we went for 3 birria tacos and a birria quesadilla. I ate here yesterday for the first time and I was truly blown away. It was insanely delicious and honestly exceeded my expectations. I've had top rated Mexican cuisine all over the country and this is definitely top tier. The menu has the perfect range of variety without being overwhelming. The staff is legendary. Making the food fast and fantastic, but also answering all my tedious questions and making the perfect recommendations. I had the carnitas, carne asada, and the much talked about birria tacos. Also with a side of chips, guac, and salsa. The explosion of flavors was a delightful ride with each bite. You can tell instantly the ingredients are high quality and fresh. The birria taco absolutely lived up to the hype. But it will be impossible to go to that place without getting the carnitas. I usually only enjoy quac about 10% of the time I order it when dining out. I could not stop eating the quac from here. They don't overdue it, but also make it so special I cant figure out what it is. The salsa was just as great and was a nice pairing with the quac. The chips were very fresh and had the perfect amount of salt. As a bonus, the outdoor seating is incredibly cozy. The seats are large and very comfortable, making you want to stay way too long. The price is very reasonable as well. Overall I just had the perfect experience. I enjoyed every single bite of everything so much. Tried them twice at their new location, each time the food is over salted, like way over salted. The tacos and their burgers were just to salty and really took away from their flavor. At the old location it was spot on, not sure what has happened ?? Also it appears they cut back in portions in the tacos especially the mushroom and cod, only got 3 pieces of cut up mushroom and 3 pieces of cod in the cod taco. We liked it much better at the old location, less salt and more of core ingredients. We will give a few months and try again, really hope they get it figured out and quality control on portions and seasoning. We were really blown away at their old location, disappointed at the new one, hoping it gets corrected soon. read more

I walk in and the vibe is great and it's open and friendly. It's a very cool and modern place with a clean look to it. All my dad talked about was the birria tacos and he couldn't eat enough of them. So, that's what I ordered because when my dad talks highly of food it usually means it's very good. The service was quick and all the staff are friendly. I opened up my tacos and just looking at them and smelling them I knew I was about to be blown away and boy was I correct. That first bite of the birria tacos they exploded with flavor and freshness. Every ingredient and flavor you could taste and they all worked together perfectly! The quality of the meat and toppings are top tier. Plus the sauce they give you to dip them in is something I have never had before but holy crap it was delicious. If you ever get a chance to try this place out DO IT.
