Spicing Things Up at La Fogata Grill: A Mexican Food Adventure If you're anything like me, a former chef turned travel blogger with a serious soft spot for bold flavors and authentic eats, then you know the thrill of discovering a hidden gem that delivers the real deal. That's exactly what I found at La Fogata Grill, a vibrant Mexican restaurant that's all about sizzling plates, warm hospitality, and the kind of margaritas that make you forget your to-do list. First Impressions: Color, Culture & Comfort From the moment you walk into La Fogata Grill, you're greeted with the inviting scent of sizzling fajitas, fresh cilantro, and slow-roasted meats. The colorful décor, traditional art, and festive vibe set the tone for a fun and flavorful experience. Whether you're coming for Taco Tuesday, date night, or a family dinner, the atmosphere is upbeat and welcoming. The Menu: A Tour of Mexico on a Plate Let's talk food -- because at La Fogata, the menu is a love letter to Mexican cuisine. I started with the fresh guacamole, made tableside and customized to your spice level (pro tip: ask for extra lime and jalapeño if you like a kick). The street tacos are the real deal -- I had the carnitas and barbacoa, each packed with tender meat and wrapped in warm, house-made corn tortillas. Their mole poblano is rich and deeply flavorful, a nod to authentic Mexican culinary traditions, and the chile relleno came out golden-crisp with a creamy cheese filling and perfectly spiced tomato sauce. My wife went for the enchiladas verdes, and let's just say there wasn't a crumb left on her plate. Don't Skip the Sips No trip to La Fogata Grill is complete without a drink in hand. Their margarita game is strong -- from classic lime on the rocks to frozen mango chili and even jalapeño-infused for those feeling adventurous. There's also a wide selection of tequilas and Mexican beers if you're in the mood to sample more. Save Room for Dessert If you've got a sweet tooth like me, the churros with chocolate sauce or the decadent flan will seal the deal. And yes, I ordered both -- for research purposes, of course. Final Thoughts: Worth the Trip La Fogata Grill isn't just a restaurant -- it's a destination for anyone who craves bold flavors and good vibes. The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and the service is always delivered with a smile. Whether you're a local or passing through, it's a stop worth making. Take the trip. Order the tacos. Live a little. read more

La Fogata Grill - Mexican Near Me - Pickerington, Ohio

La Fogata is a consistently good restaurant. Their salsa and chips are fresh made. I like both the fajitas and chimichangas. Service is always prompt and friendly. Food comes out quickly with most entrees accompanied by refried beans and rice. I have never had a bad meal here. During warmer months I love their outdoor patio. Prices are very reasonable and affordable. read more

We met friends at La Fogata Grill for dinner recently as it is their favorite Mexican restaurant. I must admit the food was very good and the Margaritas tasty. Service was excellent and very helpful. Rather than getting a burrito as I normally do I opted for the enchiladas as did my wife. An excellent choice for the both of us. read more

Always great food and atmosphere. Great staff...Comprehensive menu with a little something for everyone

I called today to make a reservation for our office, I told her who I was and was going to ask for a reservation and she hung up on me. I called back several times and she didn't answer and when she finally did, I let her know we had a party of 15 for next Saturday night and she hung up on me again! I don't understand why she did this! This is not good customer service and we will be having our party elsewhere. Thank God we have time! read more

The food was good. The staff were attentive and friendly. It was well maintained and clean.

I sent a private message but no response. My granddaughter didn't like her food. I told waiter but he did nothing. I was told this was a good place to go. Absolutely not. I should have asked for manager. read more

Definitely one of the worst Mexican restaurants I've ever experienced. We had lunch there with some friends from Massachusetts that we haven't seen in a long time. We picked it because it was about the halfway point from where they were coming from to where they were going. I had the Speedy Gonzalez lunch special. The meal consisted of some refried beans, a taco and an enchilada. My choices for the protein were either chicken or ground beef. I chose ground beef. When it arrived, it was cold. Saying that the food was bland would be charitable. My wife ordered a taco salad. It too was unremarkable, and that's an understatement. We won't be going back, even though we live in the area. read more

Arrived late into town and needed a place to eat. So lucky we found La Fogata. We were the only table, while a half dozen peeps were at the bar. Server was very friendly, chips and salsa were served, and dinner was delicious. I would highly recommend it, especially with all the chain restaurants nearby. read more

We had a delicious dinner here while staying at the Hampton Inn next door. We started with margaritas that were very tasting--no skimping on the tequila here! For our first course, we shared an order of shrimp ceviche. It was excellent. It was different from most ceviche in that the sauce contained lots of fresh tomatoes. For our main course, we shared an order of the fried chicken breasts. It was good & came with a huge amount of fresh salad that I had for lunch the next day, We also had the fried ice cream for dessert. It came with chocolate & caramel sauce & was very tasty. read more

Disappointing. Positive is the server was nice and service was good which is why I gave this two stars. Food alone would have been 1 star. The chicken tacos were so watery. They were sitting in a true puddle of water and were so soggy, my daughter refused to eat them. The queso was also extremely watery. It had no cheese flavor and completely dripped off the chips because it was so runny. Food was very disappointing and will not be back. read more

I frequent this restaurant a few times a month. It never disappoints. The chips and salsa are fresh. I ordered my dinner with half chicken and half steak which is a good combo Together topped with the veggies, cheese dip, and extra melty cheese I added! read more

La Fogata is next door to the hotel I was staying at. The front desk said that previous guests really liked it so I decided to give it a try. What a 'find'. I asked my server, Jose, what he would order if he was eating. He quickly said the Carnitas dinner. It was a large dish, delicious, and exactly what I needed after an all day motorcycle ride. The pork dish puts many BBQ places to shame. The restaurant has great decor and it is clearly a popular restaurant with the locals. After 20 years of existence I guess they're doing it right. I live in Lake County Ohio where we have a plethora of Mexican restaurants to pick from. From the one dish I tried I would put them right up there with the best of our best. Give them a try. read more

From start to finish the service was great. The food was amazing and for a great price. The ambiance was also very inviting.

Food was great! Chips and salsa arrived as we sat. Ordered queso to start. Then I got Pollo con fuego (chicken and pineapple with spicy sauce served with rice), husband got Pollo Loco (chicken and chorizo with queso on top served with rice) and my daughter good ol' chicken nuggies. After main meal we shared fried ice cream. All 3 of us were happy! Service was great, nice people. And restaurant was decorated nice, nothing out of ordinary for a Mexican restaurant. However, it was a little dark in there! read more

the ambience is quiet and peaceful on a Thursday afternoon, and I was seated immediately. pictures are attached. I'm not feeling that hungry so I just ordered a couple of appetizers, half a ceviche and cheese quesadilla. The chips and salsa are quite airy and flavorful, with a bite to the salsa. It's actually quite nice. The quesadilla came out first and it's quite good!!! It's been a while since I have had a quesadilla this good, this simple. Reminds me of the ones I used to get at Casa Patron several years ago. Queso Blanco grilled in a tort, and the ceviche just arrived. Let's do a live review. After one chip from the bowl gone, I am in love! The flavor is too complex to describe other than to say it tastes heavenly!!! The shrimp was done perfectly, and the mix of flavors simply must be experienced! I ordered mine not spicy, and it is the most perfect thing I've ever tasted. I think I found a new favorite! read more

Me and my girlfriend are on a trip down in Columbus and decided to place a quick mobile order to get something to eat. Horrible service as we waited to get the check after we were obviously finished eating. The food was just ok & the margaritas might as well have been a sugar laden coolade. read more

I love the food but the cost is just getting ridiculous. I know everything is getting more expensive but $17 for a taco, tostada rice and beans just seems a lot. Our door dash bill was $50 dollars for the above and a California burrito. Almost double what it was a couple years ago. Used to do it one a week, now just a special occasion read more

I love their food. I get the chili relleno and beans and rice. They are getting very expensive though.

This is one of our go-to places here in Pickerington for some really good Mexican food and margs. The food is always consistent and presented nicely every single time. The bartenders are funny and they always have great suggestions for food and drinks. We normally get a plate of their make your own tacos, tons of options, and we can split it. The food portions are huge and the free chips and salsa really round out the experience. The salsa is sometimes hit or miss - you're either going to get a nice well rounded salsa or something that is going to melt your face. That's part of the fun of going here and it's really like a game. The melting your face salsa makes you purchase more margs so it's pretty smart! Try out their happy hour Monday - Friday from 4-6, excellent prices on their drinks! read more

La Fogata Grill - Make your own tacos! - Mexican Near Me - Pickerington, Ohio

Stopped in for dinner on a Friday night. It was busy, a good sign for an establishment. Chips and salsa is a standard item here. The chips were warm and fresh, the salsa was nice with a nice bit of heat to get your tastebuds going. For the entree I ordered the Polo Loco. This was two flattened chicken breasts, grilled and served with chorizo and cheese on top. Sides of rice and guacamole salad. The chicken was tender and had good flavor, the chorizo had a good spice to it, but was pretty greasy. The rice was standard, nothing special, nor was the salad exceptional. Overall, a solid choice if you are craving Mexican food. read more

I was craving Mexican before a football game in Pickerington. What better place to stop than La Fogata. I was lucky to snag a table in the bar area. My server was quick to get me a beverage and some chips and salsa. The bar area was loud and bustling. Lots of energy on a late Friday afternoon/evening. I was happy to sit back and observe. My server made sure my water stayed filled and was quick to get me another beverage when needed. I had even asked for some substitutions with my dinner. I also wonder how that will go, will my order come out correct. My server was top notch, he made sure that my order was spot on. He was great. My food was really good. I was super happy with my small chimichanga portion. Their chips and salsa, are not my absolute favorite, but they definitely hit the spot, if you are craving chips and salsa. Overall La Fogata was much better than some Mexican food in town and the service was great. I would stop by again, no questions. read more

Stopped through on our way back east. Kids wanted something different, but im glad this was our destination. We were quickly greeted and sat with drinks and chips. Our server was very friendly and went out of his way to make change for my son. All of our food was delicious; even my picky children ate everything. We were shocked at how full we were and how little we spent. Bonus: earned money back through Yelp! Im always happy when a good restaurant participates! We will return! read more

Everything was good, pretty basic Mexican cuisine. Service was great, drinks were good and reasonable.

We visited La Fogota on Sunday, November 1st. It was mid-afternoon when we arrived and were seated on the right side of the restaurant. There was a large party in the middle of the room. We sat for over seven minutes with no greeting. Instead of leaving, we took our menus and utensils up to the bar. We were immediately recognized and had our iced teas dropped right off. After ordering our food it was prepared quickly and we enjoyed it. The Pollo Loco was good though I prefer mushrooms on mine. The large burrito was like a fajita in a tortilla. It was delicious! We were told we had to try La Fogota. The food was very good. Zapatas will keep our hearts and we understand it is the same family. read more

Been coming to this amazing Mexican spot for over 15 yrs!! Great food and great atmosphere!! It's definitely worth checking out.

I used to dine with regularity at the La Fogata Grill in the Short North before they moved so I was pleased when my friend decided to have his birthday dinner at their location in Pickerington. I don't go to Pickerington a lot but for this La Fogata, I'd return with bells on! We had a larger group so we made a reservation and were seated right away at 7pm on a Saturday. It was fairly busy but that didn't stop the service from being friendly and prompt. As soon as we were seated, someone was taking our drink orders. I had a strawberry margarita the size of my head and it was refreshing and delicious. The menu is almost overwhelming because they have so many options. That being said, my choices are limited because of my Low Fodmap diet so I opted for the steak fajita salad and it was seriously one of the best salads I have ever had. The pieces of steak were a lot larger than I expected and they were perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious. The vegetables that came with it were fresh and a tasty combination. Everyone kept commenting on how good my salad looked and they didn't know the half of it! It was the perfect portion and was just absolutely everything I could have wanted from a steak salad. Everyone in my group had such a positive experience. When we told them it was our friend's birthday, they brought him out a dessert and a sombrero and they sang to him and smashed some whipped cream in his face. It made for a lot of laughs and great memories. We really had such a wonderful time and I can't wait to get back out there! read more

Absolutely fantastic Mexican food. Super speedy service! Even during a semi-busy lunch time, food is brought out quick.
