We picked it because it was about the halfway point from where they were coming from to where they were going. I had the Speedy Gonzalez lunch special. The meal consisted of some refried beans, a taco and an enchilada. My choices for the protein were either chicken or ground beef. I chose ground beef. When it arrived, it was cold. Saying that the food was bland would be charitable. My wife ordered a taco salad. It too was unremarkable, and that's an understatement. We had a delicious dinner here while staying at the Hampton Inn next door. We started with margaritas that were very tasting--no skimping on the tequila here! For our first course, we shared an order of shrimp ceviche. It was excellent. It was different from most ceviche in that the sauce contained lots of fresh tomatoes. For our main course, we shared an order of the fried chicken breasts. La Fogata is next door to the hotel I was staying at. The front desk said that previous guests really liked it so I decided to give it a try. What a 'find'. I asked my server, Jose, what he would order if he was eating. He quickly said the Carnitas dinner. It was a large dish, delicious, and exactly what I needed after an all day motorcycle ride. The pork dish puts many BBQ places to shame. The restaurant has great decor and it is clearly a popular restaurant with the locals. After 20 years of existence I guess they're doing it right. I live in Lake County Ohio where we have a plethora of Mexican restaurants to pick from. From the one dish I tried I would put them right up there with the best of our best. My server was quick to get me a beverage and some chips and salsa. The bar area was loud and bustling. Lots of energy on a late Friday afternoon/evening. I was happy to sit back and observe. My server made sure my water stayed filled and was quick to get me another beverage when needed. I had even asked for some substitutions with my dinner. I also wonder how that will go, will my order come out correct. My server was top notch, he made sure that my order was spot on. He was great. My food was really good. I was super happy with my small chimichanga portion. Their chips and salsa, are not my absolute favorite, but they definitely hit the spot, if you are craving chips and salsa. We visited La Fogota on Sunday, November 1st. It was mid-afternoon when we arrived and were seated on the right side of the restaurant. There was a large party in the middle of the room. We sat for over seven minutes with no greeting. Instead of leaving, we took our menus and utensils up to the bar. We were immediately recognized and had our iced teas dropped right off. After ordering our food it was prepared quickly and we enjoyed it. The Pollo Loco was good though I prefer mushrooms on mine. The large burrito was like a fajita in a tortilla. It was delicious! I used to dine with regularity at the La Fogata Grill in the Short North before they moved so I was pleased when my friend decided to have his birthday dinner at their location in Pickerington. I don't go to Pickerington a lot but for this La Fogata, I'd return with bells on! We had a larger group so we made a reservation and were seated right away at 7pm on a Saturday. It was fairly busy but that didn't stop the service from being friendly and prompt. As soon as we were seated, someone was taking our drink orders. I had a strawberry margarita the size of my head and it was refreshing and delicious. The menu is almost overwhelming because they have so many options. That being said, my choices are limited because of my Low Fodmap diet so I opted for the steak fajita salad and it was seriously one of the best salads I have ever had. The pieces of steak were a lot larger than I expected and they were perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious. The vegetables that came with it were fresh and a tasty combination. Everyone kept commenting on how good my salad looked and they didn't know the half of it! It was the perfect portion and was just absolutely everything I could have wanted from a steak salad. Everyone in my group had such a positive experience. When we told them it was our friend's birthday, they brought him out a dessert and a sombrero and they sang to him and smashed some whipped cream in his face. It made for a lot of laughs and great memories. We really had such a wonderful time and I can't wait to get back out there! read more

Contrary to some other reviewers opinion on the salsa I found it wasn't too runny, in fact ours was quite good and had some nice chunkiness. Entrees were fantastic (see pics) but service was definitely lacking. We waited so long after our entrees were dropped off I nearly went to get someone.
