My family and I went here to enjoy cinco de mayo all while knowing it was going to be pretty busy. Upon being seated and ordering our drinks we waited patiently. Our drinks came and though we ordered alcoholic beverages they seem to have been lacking the alcohol. I mean for crying out loud it's cinco de mayo WHERES THE ALCOHOL???? Not only that, our waiter KEVIN.. wasn't helping any with the lack of attention and or reassurance due to the fact it was busy we might have seen him 2x in the 2 1/2 hrs we were there. I'm giving this a 1-star rating only because Yelp doesn't allow anything lower. I was here with a group of 25 and we had a horrible experience. We typically come here twice a year and I know they have an extremely LOUD DJ or live music on Friday and Saturday. When I made in the reservation in April (30 days in advance) I was told "no music on Thursday. Guess what- they now have live music - extremely loud live music on Thursday. To put this in perspective, there were 25 in my group, 3 members of the band's family, 2 people at the bar and 4 other customers. And, the 2 people at the bar left shortly after the band started. So - we accounted for 75% of their clients on this night - 80% if you discount the band member's family. We tried talking to the manager and I explained that I had been told "no music on Thursday" when I made the reservation. We asked if they could "turn down the volume" and he was very dismissive (almost rude). He said "I advertised, I put this on social media, I put signs on the door". To the restaurant's credit - the food was good (somewhere in the 3-4 star range) and the service was decent (3-star). But unless you like "loud, head-banging music that is so loud you can't think - SKIP THIS PLACE ON THURSDAY, FRIDAY and SATURDAY. HORRIBLE RESPONSIVENESS FROM THE MANAGER. My husband and I visited the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon (around 12:30) and the place was empty. The service was fast and friendly. The music was blasting way too loud, I could barely hear my husband sitting right across the table in an empty restaurant. They have ample parking and the restaurant was big and clean (didn't go to the bathroom though). The chips we got in a beginning were a bit dry. Although I didn't take a picture, he had a burrito and loved it. I ordered the fajita (picture) and I didn't like it too much. It was under seasoned and bland. Let me first say that every experience I have had when I went in the resturant was a good experience. However, I am an amputee and I dont get out much. With that being said I used to order lunch aprx once a wk. Most often my food was never right. So I stopped. Tonight i tried to order my husband and I to go Cheesesteak burito no red sauce as i am alergic to tomoatoes and no lettuce. What did i get a chicken burrito with red sauce and lettuce. Extremely disappointed. On the positive we had a nice waitress. Her service was fantastic. The prices in this Cleveland Street establishment were off the chart. Ive eaten better and less expensive Mexican food in airports and downtown big cities. Even the beer special - 24 oz for $3.99 is not a special in Columbus during Happy Hour. The food was okay but nothing you can't get anywhere else. Plus I've never had Chori Pollo with fajita chicken strips. Charging $5 more a plate and $10-12 shots for average Tequila is just not for me. read more

I've been coming here regularly since 2010 and the restaurant has changed hands at least twice since my original review. After several disappointing meals in the past 6 months, I have to recommend going elsewhere. My dinner combo #3 certainly looked good, and the taco was delicious, just ground beef and cheese. But the chicken enchilada was cold inside. Worse, the poblano chili was uncooked/crunchy and the cheese wasn't even melted. Usually these are dipped in batter and fried, but the waitress confirmed this is how they serve them now. I think the sauce was probably hot when it was put on both the chili and enchila and then the whole plate was run under a broiler, but both were cold by the time I finished the taco. Historically, the fajitas and burritos here are very good and their margaritas are still excellent. Maybe stick with those. read more

This little gem is within 2 miles of our house and we just found it! I loved Mexican Food and this place delivers. My wife and I love their queso with groud beef appetizer. Each trip there I have tried a different entree and have not been disappointed. Have not had a chance to try the dessert menu due to filling up on the entree. The business is clean and the service is friendly and attentive. On Sundays they have a live band playing around 4 PM. My next return I will be trying a combo entree! read more

I asked for a side of Roasted whole jalapeños. the waitress said they were already cut and thrown on top of the dish.. They were not...I asked for a side of Pico de gallo and it was old. Stopped by for dinner with boyfriend & his son. Our second time since becoming Don Tequila. The boys ordered queso cheese dip and we were eating salsa and chips. The chips tasted old and had a weird flavor. BF orders burrito and 2 enchiladas and I ordered 2 shrimp enchiladas with queso cheese dip over them and side of Mexican rice and refried beans. After waiting for over 15 mins, they bring out our orders. Mine had on the plate 3 enchiladas with verde sauce, Mexican rice and lots of lettuce, small spoon of pico and small spoon of sour cream. Not at all what I ordered. So he returns to the kitchen and after boys are finished eating, my food is finally brought out. It is correct this time on scorching hot plates, but food is just warm. Rice tasted like chicken flavored Rice A Roni and cheese on enchiladas was congealed. What they used when they rolled the enchiladas in did not taste good and was very disappointed with the whole thing. Also should have realized being there at 530pm with only a few tables with patrons and still very few when we left should tell you something. It was so much better when it was El Ranchero Alegre. Me and my wife and some of her co workers have eaten here on 8 different occasions in the last 4 weeks, haven't had any issues the entire time and seeing as how we frequented the location we decided to get a punch card to earn a free lunch after 7 meals. Today we attempted to use the punch card (we order the same thing every time) we were told since it wasn't a lunch special the card couldn't be redeemed after explaining to the manager they've punched the card every time and we always order the same exact meal they acknowledged the mistake and said if we forced them to correct their wrong they would take the cost of our meal out of the servers wages which in the state of Ohio is illegal from what I've read. So obviously we weren't about to let that happen so we paid our tab and will never again eat at this restaurant which doesn't honor their agreements and wants to threaten customers with their employees wages which is against the law in the state of Ohio. read more
