Food (6/10) - Being a Mexican restaurant, I expected the Chips and Salsa to shine, and the Chips were. They were warm and maintained a pleasant crunch without tasting burnt however, the salsa was simply not up to standard. It seemed watered down, and the cilantro was the primary taste. Although the salsa wasn't the greatest, the queso was a must-have. The Al Pastor tacos had quality meat it was a little too dry for my liking. The tortillas were also lukewarm when they arrived at my table. However, the sides and topping were fresh. They absolutely loaded the Tortas up here, and I have no complaints about it, the bread was soft and held the filling well. When I had first seen that avocado was part of it, I was drawn away. However, the flavors worked very well when I took a bite. I've never been the biggest fan of Mexican seafood. However, I have to say the Shrimp Ceviche is a go-to for any seafood enjoyers. Good shrimp ceviche tastes fresh, tangy, and slightly sweet with a hint of spice, and this one had all that. To wrap up the meal, we ordered their Fried Icecream, which, if you have never tried, is definitely a good dessert. Vibe (9/10) - As soon as we pulled into the parking lot, I was instantly drawn. The exterior is bright, and we definitely would have chosen to be seated out on their patio if it wasn't 45 degrees out. Walking into the foyer area, I felt like I was stepping into a museum, there were tons of pictures and mementos all over the restaurant. The staff was excellent, and I have no complaints about the service, They were quick and attentive. Throughout the various TVs, they had a multitude of different programs being played, from old F1 races to Spanish TV shows to Ohio State football games. The askew seating arrangement is my only complaint; we Were seated at a booth, but the booth we were at had seats that were replaced by regular chairs. While the food had its ups and downs, with standouts like the queso, torta, and shrimp ceviche, some elements, like the salsa and dry tacos, held it back from being great. The vibe and atmosphere, however, were top-tier--welcoming, vibrant, and full of character, with excellent service to match. Overall, I'd give this restaurant a B (75%). Would not recommend for anyone. The salsa was completely watered down with the only taste being cilantro. I mean not one tomato piece in the salsa and it was so thin that when you dipped a chip in it came out clear. The cheese dip was also watered down. It was not busy at all, service was super slow, didn't get our appetizer, server didn't greet us or speak much, also did not look like he wanted to be there. This place is so fun. It's easy to get into you can typically snag a table or spot at the bar. The staff is fantastic. The food is a lot so the next time we go we will most likely split an appetizer vs ordering one each and taking a third of our combination home. :) Steak fajita quesadilla never disappoints. Taquitos are good but the quesadilla we agreed was better. The quest dip is ADDICTING. Chips are plentiful and the Corona beers are super cold. I love this place! The customer service here is outstanding, and the food is top-notch. Plus, all of the servers here are super friendly and attentive. Both times that I've come here I've ordered the carne asada. They've always asked me how I want it cooked (which isn't the norm, in my experience) and it always comes out perfect - nice and tender. The cuts of meat they use are a little thicker than what other restaurants use, so they're actually able to get a little pink in the meat. As for the margaritas, they are kickin', and very reasonably priced. A lot of Mexicans come here, so that's a good sign as well! Today, we came in pretty serendipitously, and it seems about the same- standard Tex-Mex, big menu, typical decor, good service. Good tortillas, decent rice and beans, some fresh veggies. I ate almost all of it. Sweetie had cheese quesadillas and liked them (as did Baby K, who called it pizza.) Mom had taco salad and liked it. Baby K shared from our plates, and had some guac and chips. She loves guacamole, and this was pretty good. No heat in it, very fresh, chunks of tomatoes mixed in. The guac was an extra side, and we also got one of queso- which was a bit spicy, kind of thin, nice on the tortilla chips. Nothing amazing, but solid. Our server was awesome.... she helped us navigate the menu and made several recommendations from margaritas to the my dinner recommendation.....they have American food for the kiddos too for those who have picky kids. Great food, cheap drinks, and a fun atmosphere! A 24 oz beer for $4.25, a house margarita on the rocks for $5.50, and a combination plate with 4 items plus beans and rice for $11.25 = an amazing and affordable date! The hostess sat us in the back originally, but there were a few tables of screaming children so we moved to the bar. The bar had awesome music, is clean, and we were well tended to.
