My friend comes to East Market all the time but she had never tried Masa. We decided to try it this time. I got 3 tacos as the guy at the register said 2 wouldn't be very filling. I got one chorizo, one steak, and one chicken tinga. The corn tortillas are what most people speak highly of here so I had to try it. It was exceptional. The tortillas do taste homemade and have a nice flavor and texture. The tacos didn't fall apart either. Now the meats were just okay...nothing authentic about them. Lacking in flavor too. BUT if you want to order a non taco item, you can add a tortilla for a $1. Probably what I should've done. My friend got the crunch wrap which was BIG. Prob too big for most people to finish but it had a lot of things in it, including a fried tortilla inside that my friend agreed was the star of the show. Otherwise, her Crunchwrap was bland.... We both got a mild and spicy salsa on the side but neither were spicy. And of course, neither were that flavorful. Service was good. The staff was nice. We didn't wait long for the food. More like 3.8 stars overall. Masa recently opened another stall that sells salads. I'd prob try that next time. read more

Such a cute little shop inside of East Market! The customer service was great and the food has an authentic taste to it. I got the barbacoa tacos and they were very meaty and the tortillas were freshly made. After I placed my order, the worker gave me a buzzer to let me know when it was ready but I waited nearby and started talking to him. He was very nice and friendly. The salsas don't have a description on the menu so I asked him about a few of them and he started sharing his story and even told me the recipes they use are generational; he uses his grandmother's recipes! read more

The first bite made me speak fluent Spanish for 5 minutes. The tacos are authentic. I thought I was in southern Mexico. When I finished somehow the food made me sing the Mexico anthem. The flavor of the corn was all over southern Mexico. The green tortilla was very good. The white tastes just like hot water corn bread. Loved it. My suggestion is to get one of each or two of each. Also they have 12 different salsas. The Rico suave is great and the smokey is awesome. The chicken was my favorite however the steak was a close second. Please talk to the owner and he will explain everything to you. All the tortillas are made by hand and are corn only no flour. Also try the rice water and you can thank me later. One of my favorite restaurants in Columbus. The Al Pastor meat is incredible, and I love it both in a Rice bowl or a Quesadilla. The Marinated tofu is also delicious for vegetarian meals. The owner is often running the register, and he is very sweet and offers great recommendations. read more

So many great locally owned businesses in one spot supporting each other and they literally have something for everyone. Now about the Birria. I ordered the Taco Birria with a side of Esquites, Everything was so fresh and flavorful! The Birria was the best I've ever had, so so tender and had the perfect amount of seasoning. The food was amazing! We had the tacos--two Barbacoa and one chorizo--and they were very good. They provided us with two hot sauces, which were delicious. We also enjoyed the hangover soup, which was fantastic. The staff were very kind and came to check on us to ask how our meal was; that was very thoughtful. So. Good. I was tired and not looking forward to cooking so I pulled up Masa's website and ordered the quesabirria, which was recommended on a review I read recently, with an assortment of their salsas because I could (you can pick up to 4; I think there are at least that many more for me to try next time.) 15 minutes later I was walking out of the East Market with dinner (and at least a couple of lunches) in hand. The birria is basically a soup (my first time ordering it, okay? I wasn't sure what to expect) with big chunks of tender beef. The only spice/herb I'm sure of was bay leaf, because I had to fish one out . Whatever else is in there, it was marvelous. The quesadilla uses house made tortillas that are out of this world. Slightly crispy, full of gooey cheese, and topped with pickled red onions, diced white onions, and cilantro. All I can say is YUM. The salsas I got were the green (tangy, mild, excellent), salsa llegal (hotter than the green but still pretty mild -- I have no idea what's in there but it's delicious), chingon (dark, spicy... Oily? Not sure if I liked that one), and more pickled onions, which just made the dish. Absolutely what I needed after a long, rainy day. read more

Masa is a cool spot at east market! I've had mixed experiences with their walking tacos, but their food is overall delicious. I enjoyed my burrito and would order again. I might suggest more authentic sauces. They seem to cater to a niche market which makes them unique but also gives them room for improvement. Service- they're prompt and attentive. No issues. Ambiance- since the location I visited was at east market, it's a busy spot with some hustle and bustle going on.. but it's where I wanted to be and it always smells so good in there. Well, authenticity it is. Curious about this spot so we checked it out. I had the special of the day Chicken Fajita, it came with 3 tacos and the tacos were freshly pressed and cooked as we order and they were fantastic, soft and you can taste the corn. However tacos were on the "small"side and can use up a little bit more salt but the 3 different sauces they give you made up for it. Also, gotta try the tres leches right? For only the second time ever (in the nine months since they opened, natch), I chose the East Market for supper. Last time I went with Creole2Geaux's bourbon chicken (very, very good chicken), so this time I chose their neighbor down the aisle - Masa. The owner (I believe) was quite friendly and courteous, and he made me feel comfortable so that sealed the deal for me. I got a takeout tinga burrito with a medium hot sauce. A very good takeout burrito. Kind of look like the Chipotle burritos but far better ingredients and better tasting. A $12 price point that is right on the mark too. I think if you're dining in, you're supposed to take the food to the Railhouse at the other end of the building and eat there. Not sure though. Went to East Market looking for tacos. I found Masa on its 8th night in business. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The owner was there and answered a lot of questions. I judge a place on their pastor and usually get a burrito because I prefer flour tortillas. Corn tortillas can be so dry. This place is known for their corn tortillas so I decided to go with that. I got three tacos- Al pastor, barbacoa and tinga. Tinga is a shredded spicy chicken with quest fresco on it and it is amazing! The barbacoa was really good and the al pastor was my favorite but the tortillas are the key. They were the best corn tortillas I have ever had. I got the illegal, red and spicy salsas. We moved here from Colorado and I was worried that I wouldn't be able to find simple yet delicious Mexican food in Columbus. I went to the East Market for the first time after getting a recommendation for Masa. Their kitchen is 99% gluten free. I ordered the quesobirria tacos and queso dip which were both fantastic! The service was fairly quick and food came out nice and warm! The cashier was very nice and helpful with suggestions. They have a buzzer system for when the food is ready. East market has a similar vibe to North Market in the Short North but smaller. We were able to sit outside which was nice! There did not appear to be a place to get water for free. I did end up having to buy a water bottle (may want to bring water if you don't want to buy a bottle). read more
