I have been to this restaurant before and the only positive thing about it is the food is good. The service is HORRIBLE!! The person we initially had contact with (was supposed to be the manager) was rude, agitated that I asked for a mixed Frozen Marguerita. the waitress I had was pretty good. me and a friend ordered our food, ate, and then I also put in an order for my daughter to take home (2 hard chicken tacos and a strawberry/mango marguerita). I went up to pay and she told me the total was $80.52...no problem. I gave her $5 in cash for a tip and explained that I really felt bad I couldn't give her more. I asked did the total include my to go order and she said yes. I put a slash through the tip space, signed, gave her the merchant copy and stuck the customer copy in my purse. once I got home I looked at my account and new I should've had at least $50 left in there. I look at my transactions and they stole money from me. The total on my card was $96.62 UNAUTHORIZED MONEY AT THAT!! I am in tears right now!! to those who may read this it may seem like nothing but I'm in the process of getting SSDI and I can barely walk some days and hardly EVER leave my house because I'm so depressed so this was the first day in over 2 weeks I was able to just woo sah and enjoy a moment of happiness. Though short lived!! I plan on going up to the restaurant tomorrow and I'm calling my bank. I just think $16.10 is NOT A MISTAKE!! THAT WAS PURPOSELY DONE!! THATS NOT OK!! You are horrible people for doing this !! I'm struggling (as many people are right now). I don't get out often nor does my daughter who has severe anxiety and depression all while trying to work and graduate HS a year early. This is very disturbing and they should absolutely be ashamed of themselves. I swear when I walked in, I knew my money wasn't value. Took 30 mins to be seated. We waited 25-30 just to get our drinks. We asked if we could order the food while we order drinks since we waited 30 mins and the server said no. The decor' is nice. Love the outside part. After spending nearly all of my life living on the east side, I've driven by this Whitehall restaurant hundreds if not thousands of times. Tonight, my wife, son and myself stopped to check it out. I cannot say when I have enjoyed a meal in a restaurant this much. The decor inside is bright and cheery. Everyone on the staff greeted us with huge smiles like they've known us for years. The food came out quickly, piping hot and absolutely delicious. The portions are quite large. I ordered one of the combination dinners. When our server put my plate down on the table, my wife said to me "there's no way you're finishing that!" I proved her wrong. It was so delicious I couldn't stop eating it. If we had been the only ones in the dining room, I definitely would have picked up my plate and licked it clean. We just got home and I cannot wait to go back there. Dad and I lunched with a friend today at Mi Mexico. This is my 4th time here, all for lunch. 4th visit, 4th different menu item I've tried. First visit, I had the Fajita Quesadilla with Shrimp. It comes with rice, crema salad, lettuce and tomatoes. Absolutely massive portion size. I shouldn't have eaten all of it because I could have (and should have) made two meals out of it, but it was so darn good. Everything you get in fajitas wrapped in a quesadilla. What's not to love? Flavorful, slightly al dente vegetables and big fat shrimp. Excellent. And of course, you get bottomless chips and salsa to start. Warm, salty, crispy chips and ice cold salsa. I could (and probably should) make my lunch on the chips and salsa, but the menu is too enticing for that. Second visit, I ordered the Chimichanga with chicken. It is served with beans, rice, and guacamole salad. I think my favorite part was the guac salad. The chimichanga was fantastic (and humongous), but the guac salad was exceptional. Cool and creamy with plentiful chunks of avocado. Very refreshing. Once again, would have been smarter to halve this lunch and get a second meal out of it, but I lack impulse control obviously. Third visit, I thought I would be smarter. I ordered the Veggie Combo D which is a bean burrito, cheese enchilada, and cheese quesadilla. I chose wisely. That was a dandy lunch and I wasn't nearly as stuffed as I normally am when I'm finished eating. I ate all of it, but it was a more lunch-sized portion. 3 distinct items, 3 distinct flavors, each very satisfying. Today's visit I ordered the Vegetarian Fajitas. Veggies consisted of bell peppers, white and green onions, tomatoes, zucchini, broccoli, squash and mushrooms, sauteed fajita-style. The menu shows that it comes with rice OR beans, lettuce, sour cream and guacamole. I didn't notice that the menu said OR, but it didn't matter - they put both on my plate. Plus, it came with 3 perfectly steamed flour tortillas. I do not make actual fajitas, I eat the components in stages while munching on a naked tortilla. I like it that way. Today's lunch was a return to a dish with a heaping pile of food. This time, I brought some home. I finished what I ate at the restaurant at 12:45 and I finished the leftovers tonight for dinner at nearly 8:00. Smarter. I really like this place. I enjoy lunching with my dad and our friend. The food is tremendous, the lunch companions are brilliant, the staff is phenomenal. Attentive without hovering, very friendly, and quick. The restaurant is very rustic looking with lots of wood and heavy chairs and gorgeous tile work. All reasons why I have been four times so far with many more to come. Quick note on cost: each meal cost between $11.99 and $14.99. Free chips and salsa, and add a bottomless refill Diet Pepsi for $2.99. A bargain through and through. read more

This place is the typical Mexican restaurant - chips and salsa are good, food is decent but they are shady with their prices and will argue with you about it. I got charged SEVENTEEN DOLLARS for a queso.. it used to be $11, which is still a lot but fine.. but SEVENTEEN DOLLARS?! Criminal. They don't have prices listed anywhere (well they do but argued until I was blue in the face that it was for "something else" and what they charged me was the price.. that wasn't in the menu anywhere. Happy hour is apparently not a thing, even though it's in posters, online, and on 15 tvs inside the restaurant... but they said they don't have it. We were at the farmers market when we all got hungry. Our friends parents decided to take us to one of their favorite places (Daniel grew up just down the road from this place and we've never been). It is a hidden gem. Our friends parents have been going to like 30+ years! Our server Janet was a chip girl way back then! She was so amazing and convinced me to get one of their half priced Margs. YUM! And it was giant! So worth it. We were struggling to decide when Carl said he wanted the fajita Nachos with black beans. I was sold. So while we waited (not that long by the way) for our food we went crazy eating the AMAZING chips and salsa. Literally so good. Once our food came I smashed that too. Okay, this is written from a Los Angeles perspective. This is not good Mexican food Instead of using Mexican cheeses or at least something like cheddar, the cheese used is either American or Velveeta. The hot sauce tastes like they opened a #10 can of tomato sauce, added a can of diced tomatoes, then threw in onions, cilantro, and chili powder, no bueno. Taco Bell Mild sauce has more flavor The Mole' sauce was decent though it had no spice. Mexican restaurant math: Rancho Alegre = El Vaquero = Los Mariachis = Mi Mexico. It's a pretty simple equation. Amirite? If you like any of the first three, there's a good chance you will like Mi Mexico. They are all about the same. Anyways, I was craving some fajitas the other day and so I placed a lunch size order which was plenty big. Of course they had already dropped off the obligatory chips and salsa before I could even sit down. I got the usual sides of re-fried beans, rice, lettuce, guacamole and sour cream. There's nothing here that's out of the ordinary but there are two things here that I would recommend in particular. Get the queso blanco if you go there as melted cheese goes with everything. It's really good and the extra calcium is so good for your bones. Order a frozen margaritas with a salt rim. It's good, kick ass good. I'd order the small size if you are a lightweight as they have plenty of kick to them. There's no skimping on the tequila at Mi Mexico. So this is a good, solid but typical choice for Mexican American food in Cbus. read more

From the street, you may easily drive by this spot and be fully unaware of its greatness. I went here with a few girlfriends for one of their birthdays and omg I was more than satisfied with my experience!! I ordered their sangria margarita which was huge, and on happy hour special! We all got jumbo margaritas and everyone loved their's. They gave us each individual salsa bowls so we didn't have to share, and they kept the chips and salsas comin'. The entire menu looked good, so I asked the waitress what to order and her recommendation was PERFECT. It was delicious and I'd definitely order that again - a burrito Jalisco. Came here on a quiet Sunday night. The restaurant was not crowded and we were seated right away. The waiter was very attentive and got us drinks and menus immediately. I ordered tacos al pastor for my meal. One thing I noticed was that they offered the tacos american style (lettuce, sour cream, cheese, tomatoes) or Mexican style (cilantro, lime, and onions). I don't think I've seen this option on a menu before when ordering tacos. Having just returned from a trip to Belize where I spent an entire evening finding the best street tacos in town, I had to go with Mexican style. It made me feel like I was going with the more authentic option. The meat in the tacos was flavorful with just the right amount of cilantro. I also ordered an enchilada a la carte. The sauce almost tasted like it had ketchup, or some American condiment in it, so that made the taste a little off for me. For dessert I ordered sopapilla with ice cream on the side which was a crisp cinnamon dessert which I thoroughly enjoyed. read more

Excellent Mexican food for what you would expect. I had the spinach quesadilla and it was absolutely filled with fresh cooked spinach, onions, mushrooms, and cheese. The bean dip is completely vegetarian as are all refried beans-they re-fry in vegetable oil and made a very strong point of telling me that. Happy hour is quite nice, except on Thursdays when I believe there is some sort of substitution. There's an absolutely lovely concrete patio back behind the place as well. That was the only thing I didn't like. Having to ask for refills and the check wasn't cool. The server just vanished and when he was back it was good. Salsa is fresh and spicy a really decent sized patio which I live for and happy hour is Monday-Sunday yes you heard me correctly . And they have those tasty marga-locas for $8 that's the margs with Corona for $8 a true steal. I used to come here a lot years ago. It's been awhile so I thought I'd bring my fiancé here to try it. I have to say I'm disappointed and it seems like the quality has gone down. The salsa was good. The guacamole had huge chunks of tomato and avocado in it which I didn't like. I've had better guacamole at other places. I ordered Ramon's Special Platter or something like that. It had 2 chicken taquitos, a chicken enchilada, a beef enchilada, a beef supreme taco, and rice. The food was not hot. It was warm not hot and tasted just ok. My fiancé had 1 of her favorites Chicken a la Parilla. The chicken was not cooked all the way so she had to send it back. When they brought her a new plate she said it tasted just ok not like she's had at our favorite place that we usually go to. Overall Mi Mexico was just ok not great.
