Only the regular's get service. If you walk in to try the place, you get ignored and they look at you like you have 3 heads.

Kind of a dive bar, definitely needs some work. But the beer was good and the service was friendly. Skip the bathrooms

What can I say about the Turtle..... It's definitely a townie bar...the usual mix in here are the trailer park trash and ghetto hood rats. The music can vary they have a juke box and sometimes a DJ on the weekends. The drinks are cheap, they have alright bar food (nothing to brag about) and it's a close to home bar when you want to chill and maybe watch a game without a huge crowd. Is it cultured, sophisticated, or even a place soccer moms and Short North/German Village Yuppies would hang????? Definitely not. But ladies if you don't want to be harrassed, want to drink on a dime, come in your sweats/pajamas, have a chill conversation with friends then this may be your place. The Turtle is my local of choice but I havent been there in a while. I dont recommend driving far for this place. Nothing about it would stand out more than your own local. I will say the staff is nice. They are even better once they know your face. The food is actually pretty tasty. I often stop by here for a rum and coke & mushrooms on my way home from work. I also come here to shoot pool once in a while and have a few beers with friends. People are gonna say this place is Ghetto and I would have to say thats not exactly true. Its a good mix here, the music can jump from Snoop to Linkin Park to ACDC to Toby Keith in just a few minutes. I could go to a lot of other bars, but I find the Turtle comfortable. I dont dress up too much and I dont feel like Im being compared or judged, and I dont feel threatened either. So if your in the area and looking for a place to just chill, then maybe this is a spot for you. read more

Good food. Don't let the location fool you.. These people know how to cook. I swear the fried chicken was a perfect balance between crispy, salty, bready goodness, that wraps a perfectly cooked moist piece of delectable chicken. I could gush more over the sides, creamy Mac and cheese, that seems to have no processed cheese added (like most restraint Mac and cheese). Along with, mashed potatoes that make you want to undo a belt notch and go nuts. Complaining about this locations address is a moot point. Honestly I don't want it to be anywhere else.. Definitely felt like i was in the middle of west virginia.. very country lol! This is a local neighborhood bar... if your looking for classy this is not for you..but they have good food & Im a fan of taco tuesdays:) .75 beef tacos and 1.25 chicken tacos cant go wrong with tacos in my book and they are pretty good quality there! read more

The Thirsty Turtle has quickly become our new hangout. The atmosphere is partially that of a sports bar, and partially that of a pool hall. They have a large selection of liquors, great daily specials, and $4 48oz pitchers of bud family beers all day every day, no need to wait for happy hour! The times ive been iin there, it's been a really relaxed environment, but i havent hit it up during any major sporting events yet. The bartenders are really friendly, and have no problem changing tvs over to a different show for patrons, and are usually really attentive. The only exception i saw the times we've been there was when a bachelorette party came in buying shots and cocktails (pricier drinks = bigger tips = forget the beer drinkers on the other side of the bar). Aside from that, the music is all played via touchtunes, so it varies from night to night. read more

My baeu and i just moved to the area of columbus and realized we needed a 'go to bar' for those nights when you nerd a beer in a chill atmosphere. We have been to this bar twice now. Read whole review: Went 40 min out of my way for their hand breaded wings because they are worth it. Made the mistake of getting my beer first. Bartender was fast but ordering from separate kitchen was at 903. They close at 9. I explained I came that far for his wings...he told me when they opened next day. Will I come back? Great East side family owned bar and restaurant. Unpretentious. Relaxing. Fun. Super reasonable prices. Very cool with its mixed clientele - black and white, young and old, urban and honkytonk. One of the few places in Columbus like this. Great place to shoot pool, hang out with friends, go solo and not feel lonely. Wished I didn't live 45 minutes away - would visit much more often! read more
