This evening we tried fried perch, macaroni and cheese, and collard greens with smoked turkey, and blackened chicken.

Final verdict. If you are out by Brice Rd you can stop in. I personally don't think the lunch menu is worth the trip from where we live. I will try dinner another day. The greens are perfect when you add hot sauce the perch is on point. Good crunch and flavor. Mac is average for a restaurant. Portion size is ok not the best. Service ok music isn't loud. I don't think it's true soul food

I saw a instagram review and just had to try Peggy's! My wife and I both had blackened shrimp and grits. Whoa!!! Juicy spicy, big shrimpCovered in a delicious Cajun cream sauce. Delicious stone ground creamy grits. The portion was perfect, the vibe was homey, the R&B music welcoming. We wandered through the menu after our first bite and can't wait to go back.

I have always passed by Peggy's and this time I had to stop. I tried the fried chicken and catfish with collard greens and Mac and cheese. OMG it was so delicious. I will be back. The waitress was so pleasant. The ambiance was so relaxing.

The restaurant was cold. Not just the one way glass covering the bottom part of the windows like an interrogation room in some crime flick but physically cold, the staff were all wearing coats in the dining room, or at least I think they were staff, my server seemed to be also expediting and cleaning tables so the role of the other staff was a bit of a mystery as was who was on staff, as there seemed to be little in the way of a uniform going on. The decor was interesting and giving off a bit of a night club vibe at noon. I was quite nervous about the experience when I ordered the Peggy Grilled Burger. The waitress informed me that it had blue cheese, however I am not entirely certain if that was to let me know that it existed when it was quite overpowered by the juicy onions or because some people find this cheese off putting and menu items are not well described on the lunch menu. I was quite impressed with the burger and the massive fries that came with it, which is the reason for the rating in total, if the food wasn't amazing I would be having a very different opinion. I do find it interesting that the horseradish mayo wasn't the ingredient that had a warning as the entire top bun was thoroughly coated in the luxurious condiment.

    Mac and cheese, yams. Yummy.

I have been looking for good soul food ever since I moved to Columbus in 2011. Well I finally found it. I have found the food in Columbus lacking any taste. Peggy's did not disappoint. Sorry I started eating before I took pictures. Best soul food I have had down here. Staff was great.

Food was really good. Trinity, our server, (I believe that was her name) was very kind!

I personally won't be coming back. My greens were gritty. The orange roughy was not seasoned as well as the previous visit. The wings were obviously day old, dry and not seasoned.

I had an amazing time at this restaurant, and the food was hot and delicious. The service from the time you greeted at the door and then seated at our table every individual was happy to have us and very Hospital. The ambience gives you a feeling of what you can turn a space into. I remember the previous restaurant that was there. And I'm so glad to have a new soul food restaurant in the neighborhood with good food. Good service and great prices.

Perch, yams, & greens. Food was good, wait was nearly an hour!

First, they've got an excellent outdoor area -- plenty of seating, shade and sun, great vibe out there. I appreciated the selection and variety of beers available, as well as the quality: for instance, they had a great oatmeal stout on draft that was not too heavy, and a pear cider that was not too sweet; both highly drinkable and enjoyable. I recommend getting a flight and trying a few things. The food experience was a mixed bag: there's a great variety of options, from burgers, to wings, to Mediterranean rice and chicken platters. (Note: they are very strict about no substitutions for anything on the menu, but there's a lot to choose from to satisfy most tastes). Perhaps because of this great variety, it takes a long time for the food to come out. We ordered at the counter and it was over a half an hour for the food to appear. The mushroom Swiss burger was quite tasty (I do wish lettuce and tomato and other toppings were options for the burgers, though, as I always wish for a little bit of cold crispiness with it), and we opted for the dirty Fries, which had a House sauce and scallion mix on top, which were also good. The honey lemon pepper wings were very well cooked, nice and crispy; however, the sauce really just tasted like heavy melted butter with a tiny touch of sweetness-- no lemon, or pepper to be found. For brewery food and experience, it was very satisfying, and I would come back again. One other note, though: the place is 21 and up after 7 PM, and they are extremely vigilant (even aggressive?) about it. I did not have children with me, but there were a couple very well behaved groups with kids around us, and the families were told around seven, but they needed to start packing up and leaving. There's also a ton of signs about it. I appreciate an adult only space, but 7:00 seemed a little early and it brought a kind of negative feeling when groups of patrons who were being pleasant / quiet/ respectful were asked to leave. (Also, there was a family with older teens who are clearly not 21 who are not asked to leave-- if you're going to say 21 and up, it feels odd to just target folks with a baby, or a 10-year-old...). Just something to consider as you decide on if / when you visit and with whom.

The focus on the beer was mostly on lagers, which I love. Only negative: the man pouring the taps there one of the nights has no clue what he was talking about. I asked him the difference between two of the bocks they had on tap (a helles bock and a maibock...debately the same style, if not very similar) and he said "how strong the Belgian yeasts are" in a very confident tone. I told him I had never heard of bocks being made with Belgian yeasts, and he said it's "a Cincinatti thing". I got a taste of the beer, and there were no phenolics (for non beer nerds: it had no Belgian flavors) so I ordered one and didn't argue.

We hit up several breweries on a recent trip to Columbus, and Hoster was my favorite beer of the trip. It was just well made, good tasting beer - nothing crazy. To top it off, there's bottomless self-serve popcorn and a vintage jukebox topped with a bowl of free quarters to play your favorite selctions from the decades. The collections of artifacts from Hoster's storied histories, make the walk to the bathroom like a visit to a mini-museum. I loved the homey decor and selection of tables, barstools, and comfy chairs. This place was somewhat family friendly, but it's not a huge space, so it's not great for tots that like to run around. I believe there might have been soooome seasonal outdoor seating, but nothing crazy. Lots of parking and easily accessible. The bartender was super welcoming, friendly, and generous! We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, and it wasn't super busy - that was welcomed! Hoster is worth a visit if you're ever in the area. Their brews rival the big names in the area.

I tried and purchased the Blood Orange Cider and it was one of the best ciders I've had. I also had a 5 oz pour of the "Inch of Dust 2024" which was by far my favorite. While 10% ABV the description was spot on and I loved it. It finished sweet so not one I would drink a lot of at one time but the 5 oz pour was perfect for me. I trued four beers with a couple being specifically recommended by the gent working the bar. I didn't get his name but he is also one of the brewers. Crumble vanilla ale had a great vanilla aroma and flavor. Light color and light body and very good. Cosmic Fog DIPA was very tasty with a lot of hop flavor to it but not overpowering bitterness. Toasted Tones lager was pretty good. I would liken it to a light amber ale. SWPFTD would have liked this one.
