OMG, the drinks, the honey soul appetizer, the catfish and spaghetti, the peach cobbler, THE SERVICE. This place is amazing. We found them on Yelp while visiting from VA. We will definitely return. Kay is simply amazing. Keep doing what you all are doing. Much love and plenty of success to you all. We will definitely return!
Love this place when we are in C-bus. Best Southern comfort for sure. Great meals with sides to choose from. Save the cornbread for last, as its like dessert! The handcrafted cocktails are delicious (if you go M-F, they are Happy Time prices to boot). I always end up ordering 2! Walkable from the theaters and Columbus Commons. Park in nearby garages downtown and easily walkable. Staff are delighful, and look nice (I know, not suppossed to comment on appearances...) but they are all classy, dressed in black- looking nice... Adds to the atmosphere. The REAL artwork around the restaurant offers culture, history, color and fun. There is always music here as well- either live or streamed in, adding to the authentic flavors! Wished we lived closer!

Been meaning to come here for a long time. Finally had a chance today. It's tucked in an alley off 3rd, doesn't look like much from the outside, but is beautiful and comfy inside. Service was great the whole time. There's a lot on the menu I wanted to try, but I saw smothered pork chops. I've liked them since I first had them, so whenever I see them on the menu, I usually get them. You can get them as a bowl, but I got the dinner. Two bone-in chops, tender and juicy and breaded with a little seasoning. Covered with a gravy/sauce that adds more flavor. And over top of tender short grain rice. I got baked beans as one of my sides, and they were soupy, but savory, and very tasty. I also got fried okra, which was a large portion of perfectly fried chunks. Also nicely seasoned. They do give you ketchup and vinegar, and hot sauce, and I tried those on the okra. But it was plenty good on its own. I came in hungry and left stuffed. They offered dessert, but I didn't even look at the menu because I knew I had no room. Parking is absolutely awful. Not their fault, of course. There are a couple of spots in the alley, but they are 30 minute only zones. Enough for pickup, but I didn't think it would be enough for dine in, and it wasn't, though my food did come up pretty quickly. Other parking is nearby but some of it is time limited or somewhat expensive. Limited street spots and a parking garage or two. You are right downtown, so you're going to pay. Definitely worth coming back to though. The price was reasonable, the food was excellent. The atmosphere was great. The music was great.

The chicken was juicy, the greens had a good flavor and the mac and cheese met expectations. If I had any complaints, it would be that the yams were overcooked (there was some noticeable burnt coloring but not much). This met my expectations and I honestly was full for hours after finishing my bowl (I'd had a light dinner the evening before and no breakfast so I was hungry by the time we ordered our lunch). My companion loved his meal. They also have great portion sizes for the price. Service: Quick interaction with the server to pick up my to-go order. It was ready when I arrived and it was correct I appreciate that they did accommodate my request to have greens instead of rice for the Bourbon chicken bowl.
First time flyers at this joint so here it is. We ordered pork chops, Mac and cheese with greens also we got Blackened chicken pasta. Pork chops had no soul just over cooked and tough. Greens were too salty for us and the Mac and cheese was mid. As for the Blackened chicken pasta. Star of the show. Noodles were tender with good flavor and the chicken was cooked right with great flavor. I am going to order it again. The next time we visit we will try other options.
I highly recommend Soul 2 Go on E. Lynn St in Columbus, Ohio. I love the food and atmosphere of this location. There is always great music there! The service is good and the food is delicious. I have a new favorite meal that I order and it is the lamb chop dinner with asparagus and macaroni and cheese or mashed potatoes. Chef William is the best! Visit and enjoy!!

It was so good!! The wings were also seasoned and fried to perfection . Everyone at the table loved their meals. I'd definitely recommend stopping through if you're in the area.
A few people recommended this place to me and raved about it. I was excited to try it but unfortunately I didn't get the same experience. When I arrived to pick up my food, it was not ready. Come to find out, my food was mixed up with someone else's and they gave it away. I then had to wait for them to prepare my food again. While eating my food, I noticed I had hair in it and I was completely turned off and unsatisfied with everything. The food was flavorful and good but by that point, I lost my appetite. I will not be returning.
Warning: Long review I was in Columbus for a conference. I'm a foodie and always searching for a REAL soul food restaurant when I travel. So I decided to try Soul 2 Go based on the reviews. First off, the street that it's located on reminded me of New Orleans (my favorite place) so the experience was off to a great start. I picked up my food from an unfriendly young lady, perhaps having a bad night. When I got back to my hotel with my jerk chicken dinner, I tasted it and IMMEDIATELY started texting everyone about the flavors. First time I had seen any restaurant add diced onions AND tomatoes on top. The cornbread was the perfect texture and sweetness. The next night I order from a Korean place. Not impressed so my last night, I went back to Soul 2 Go. My staff told me to get the perch or the salmon pasta but the lemon pepper chicken was calling my name. This night I was greeted by a beautiful and friendly woman with beautiful braids. She even said thank you for coming, unlike the other young lady who just said sign your receipt and walked away. This dinner was just as flavorful as the other. This time I added yams and fried okra. The yams were good, but a little too much cinnamon for my liking. The okra was not frozen, to my surprise. I grow okra in my garden every year so I could tell this was fresh! I live in Central KY but have already made plans to make the drive to visit Soul 2 Go again. Side note: It's a huge dinner! Both included two leg quarters. REAL SOUL FOOD! You MUST visit!
Hands down the best soul food in OHIO! The liver and onions melt in your mouth! The catfish and perch are perfectly crispy and flavorful. I've had the fried corn bread with thicken and honey drizzle and wow? The Mac and cheese will have you squealing and the greens will keep a grin on your face. I've been 5 times so far, bringing friends who haven't tried it and they are equally as impressed as I am. The customer service tops it all! Chef Hightower, you have amazing food and crew!
First time in Columbus to participate in the Cap City Half Marathon brought me to the Renaissance Downtown hotel. After checking in to the hotel, myself and a few other ladies were famished and looking for good food. I opened the Yelp app and Soul 2 Go was at the top of the lunch nearby search. Even better, it was literally located across the street from the hotel a few feet down this alley type side street. We arrived at a great time because about 20 minutes after being seated, a crowd of people were filing in so we would have had a wait. I ordered the Soul Food Sampler which consisted of small but perfectly sized portions of Mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, collard greens, and 3 chicken wings pieces. I washed it down with a yummy cocktail. I do not remember the name and I did not take a picture of the drink menu but it's one of their fun named cocktails. We didn't feel rushed to exit the table once we finished our food but we were mindful of people waiting for a seat. Apparently word got out about this restaurant to other runners because the next day we attempted to go back for dinner and there was a crowd of people with an estimated wait of an hour and a half to an hour and 45 minutes. Whoah! Definitely a restaurant I would visit again. Myself and another diner had the Soul Food Sample and the third person had the shrimp and grits and she loved it (see added picture).

I ran over there and got takeout across the street from my hotel and I will tell you it was most delicious especially the peach cobbler! The blackened salmon pasta (reminds me of Cajun pasta) and the honey soul with fried chicken and fried corn cornbread with honey...It was so delicious. The order was ready pretty quickly when I got there. You can also order from a kiosk when you walk in the door, but I did an online order from the local food app before going over there. It looks like a nice casual environment with bar seating available. Kind of small - It was very busy. read more

Another solid spot for lunch in Downtown Columbus. Staff was super friendly and patient. It's a cool vibe inside but got a bit loud which made conversation difficult. The food was really good. My lemon chicken dish was very tasty, but heavily salted. Fun spot that I'd recommend. read more

My first experience is to via door dash and it was great. I didnt care that the fish was on top of the spaghetti but they do forewarn you that that's how it comes. Regardless great flavor for both items so when they opened up a restaurant, I had to try them. Stopped on a whim with friends who requested drinks and a bite, pref. Soulfood. Drinks * Simply soul- 4/5 * Soul ties- 4.5 not too strong or too sweet. Super good overall would recommend. * Soul brotha- 3/5. A bit confusing. Too sweet for a bourbon drink for my taste. * Honey soul cornbread- delicious but a bit Heavy because it's greasy from being fried. * Soul food sampler- great way to try a little bit of everything. Greens were cooked perfectly. Love that they add onion and tomato, could use a bit more seasoning. Macaroni- chefs kiss. Sweet potatoes very good not super syrupy/running which i appreciate- good flavor. Chicken was good, unbearable but good fry/ breading. * Hot sauce bottles didn't work, had to take the cap off. * Hostess was super sweet, called to hold seats on my way from Dublin and she was able to accommodate me and remembered me when I came in. Overall, great soul food that's reasonably priced. Love the ambiance and vibe- good art work, clean, good music. If you like soul food support them, would love to see them around for the foreseeable future. I want to return when they're doing karaoke, live music or other events. The space is small so I recommend reservations during busy days/ times. read more

My husband and I tried this restaurant for the first time on a Friday at 3 pm. The hosts were very friendly and sat us immediately. Our servers name was Britney. The restaurant has a very nice set up and cool art and music and was perfectly clean inside. I had the jerk chicken pasta, red beans and rice, mac and cheese, and cornbread. I was very very happy w this meal. It's literally the best jerk chicken I've had since I've been up north. My husband had the fried fish and he said it was the best he's ever had. Willie is an amazing chef. I got the pound cake to go and it's was good also. I will definately return and recommend. Really want to try the salmon pasta. The servers worked as a team and the vibes were good. read more

Found this place on Yelp due to the good rating and the pics made the food look tasty. It didn't disappoint. I ordered wings as an appetizer and they were seasoned nice and cooked perfect. Blackened chicken pasta as my main and the chicken was juicy and both the chicken and pasta has wonderful depth of flavor. Ask for Ashley to be your waitress. Very nice and attentive. They had open mic night which add to the cool vibe of this home run restaurant. read more

MAKE RESERVATIONS before you decide to go or take a real risk of not being able dine here, or worse having a long wait. * The place is intimate. There is a nice size bar and several movable table and chairs. Now for the food....A-OK. Nothing spectacular and mostly what you can easily make at home, if you cook. There were 5 of us and we all agreed on that point. Actually the smothered pork chops were overcooked, easy to do if you don't know how to cook. That shouldn't have been the case here. Served with a little rice. I do think the sweet potatoes are from a can. *shrug* IMHO the cornbread was probably the most noteworthy item. Another thing to note, the service was top notch. Even during a full house! Glad we tried it, but not in a rush to come back and that's too bad. We want to support minority owned businesses. * made reservations through YELP. First time here and my food was delicious once I FINALLY got it. I placed a to go order, while sitting at the bar, and it took almost an hour for me to get it. The staff appeared confused and disorganized. Jericka and Dallas were kind and engaging, but otherwise there was barely a hello. Add to that the fact that the air conditioning is broken, and has been for the entire summer, according to an employee. It was hot and stuffy in there. In this economy knowing how to handle business and treat patrons is crucial! read more
I was in Columbus for work and got in around 8pm, which meant dinner options downtown were pretty limited. I almost settled for a steakhouse about to close, but decided to take a quick walk around the block first. Just when I thought I was out of luck, I found Soul To Go on Yelp and followed the walking directions. That said, I was skeptical when they led me down an alley. To my surprise, there it was, tucked away and totally worth the find. The service was some of the best I've had in a long time, and the food was delicious. My Wife and I had a weekend trip to downtown Columbus . We stayed downtown and we found the best soul food place that we have eaten in a long time. Soul 2 Go . our server Jaz Was great! This is a place you want to go to meaning it's off the beaten path. Lynn Street, off of Third. Who knew? It's a cozy, long restaurant with a bar in front and seating in the back. We parked on Gay Street and walked around. Street parking on Sunday is free! Once we got seated we got the menu and honestly, everything looks like something I'd want to try, so I'm coming back! The restates Black art on the walls and big screen televisions on the walls that don't have art. I'm waiting for my order: shrimp and grits. My daughter ordered spaghetti and fish. read more
Goodness gracious! FLAVOR!!!! The food tasted so good its crazy. Mac n cheese was seasoned and cheesy. The catfish was unreal. The rice was good but the gravy was amazing. The cabbage was even better! Everything was seasoned so well. If I wasn't so full I'd get it again right now. The service was great. The people inside were nice and quick with my order. Even kept it in a hot box until.i arrived. I went to the take out location so it was just pick up and go, but there was a lot of space inside and out. When I walked down High Street, I turned into an alleyway showcasing art. I was taken back into a Harlem Renaissance period to an intimate spot that held 50 period. There was live live jazz playing and it's packed on Sunday. There was an obvious church crowd and regulars were greeted.. the only solo seats were at the bar. They asked if I was there for the first time and a patron leaving said that I would not be disappointed. I was greeted immediately by one of the owners. I received water right away. Took a little while to receive a menu. Roughly 10 minutes. However a superstar of the place, Brittany came through with explanations and recommendations. The did not have a cocktail menu but She told me by memory. I decided on a Soul Sister, something like a Tequila Sunrise which included Don and Grand Manier. I knew it was trouble. String. Delicious. I packed my patience for the order taking and receiving the food. The Blackened Salmon Pasta and Fried Cornbread was worth the wait. Large portions were seasoned to perfect. I spills have loved to get dessert and a bowl to go but I couldn't finish the food. I can't wait to fly back. Beautiful art. Servers felt like family and were welcoming. I'll be back. Reservations are needed on the weekend end. I think the place is downtown prices. This place made me proud. read more

Long travel day, reached hotel and quick local search uncovered Soul 2 Go. Quick check of the menu (which looked amazing) and off for a short walk to meet our conference travel team for dinner. We got in about 40 minutes before closing on a Tuesday evening, in that spot where you never know if staff is present or checked out looking to get home already. To our benefit the team was friendly and hospitable, we were quickly seated and food was everything we were looking for! There used to be a jerk chicken spot in my neighborhood, though it closed and now when an opportunity presents itself am all in. Jerk chicken, mac and cheese, greens were all exceptional and the ladies traveling with me meals as well. We did start with the cornbread and chicken tender which was really good. The vibe in the restaurant was chill yet upbeat, and really, just a great way to finish a long day of travel with a great meal before a conference. Will definitely be back when in Columbus! read more

From the moment I walked in, the staff was incredibly warm and attentive. They even had half-off adult beverages--yes, please! I tried the Soul Tea and the blackened salmon pasta, and WOW... if I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Chef Ms. Carlota put it down! First, the place is small. Met a friend for dinner on friday evening and there was a lot going on, it was Rodeo night. They had a dj with line dancing and a cowboy hat competition - a lot for the small space. The food was decent, I ordered catfish w/ green beans and sweet potatoes as sides. The menu stated the greens came with onion and tomatoes on them, thus me ordering green beans - well they had the same onions and tomatoes on them also. The menu does not list this information next to the green beans. Should have asked for my fish fried hard - however it was seasoned well. The sweet potatoes were luke warm and not hot, but very tasty. my friend ordered jerk chicken over rice with okra and cabbage, he stated his food was good - but he'd also been there prior. Overall, I will be back but likely when the Gahanna location opens, b/c the lynn street location small. :0) read more

I've been ordering from Soul to Go for my parents at least twice a week for quite some time now. We've supported this business consistently because we value good food and community establishments. Unfortunately, the service has been declining for a while -- but this last experience was by far the worst. The food was severely burnt and completely unacceptable. It wasn't slightly overdone -- it was inedible. When you're serving customers, especially loyal ones who order regularly, there has to be a standard of care and quality control. This felt like something that should have never left the kitchen. As a business owner myself, I cannot understand how food in that condition would be packaged and served without someone questioning it. Where is the pride? Where is the accountability? Equity in a restaurant isn't just about ownership -- it's about integrity, consistency, and respecting the people who support you week after week. I'm extremely disappointed. Loyal customers deserve better. read more

My out of town guest asked to be taken to a soul food restaurant and Soul 2 Go did not disappoint. I literally went twice this week with 2 different sets of people. They all loved it! The drinks, appetizers, main dishes, and desserts were . I can't believe I forgot to take pictures this time but I want to say outstanding job. If there was anything negative to say it is parking is very confusing but that did not affect me eating very well!! read more
