I noticed Big Daddy Que while on my way to another location far out on the east side past Interstate 270. Kind of outside of my daily "bubble." And unfortunately, it was closed the day that I discovered it. But, being a fan of BBQ I was intrigued since I had never heard of it before. I planned my return for a day when they were open, and I was very pleased with the food that I was served. This is a carryout restaurant mostly, but there are some limited seating areas outside. It is Texas style barbecue, which is differentiated from Kansas City, St. Louis, etc. There are many many genres to BBQ, and Texas style is entirely unique. they do a great job of capturing the BBQ flavor of Texas. The portions are substantial, and there are a wide variety of selections available. I made several meals out of the food that I purchased and took home. It carries well, and refrigerates well too. Even if you're not in the immediate area, it is worth a drive to get here. Food is well prepared and certainly on my list of barbecue joints to which I will return for another meal! read more

I was told about Big Daddy' Que by a parent at a basketball game. She talked it up so much that I decided to visit. She was right. This is not a sit-in place, though in warm weather there picnic tables outside. The menu offers a classic soul food selection, from macaroni and cheese to brisket to pork chops to greens and ribs- tips, bones and slabs. The service is excellent and efficient and the food is fabulous! This is not a large place; I passed it about 4 times before seeing it, so it's best if you're trying to find it for the first time to have someone with you who can be the lookout person! Always looking for new (to me) soul food places, this one goes on the list. There is parking on the side of the place but not an exorbitant amount so be mindful of that, and it's only open Thursday through Sunday, with afternoon-evening hours. I'm torn with this review because customer service was outstanding the interior seemed spotless and they were expedient with getting my order BUT: their bbq meats are tough. They are not fall off the bone or tender. Everybody in my house tried the ribs and all had the same conclusion that they were tough and chewy. On the other hand it has a great smoked flavor, well seasoned, and their "signature sauce" is very good. I ordered a three rib plate and they gave me 3.5 or maybe 4 ribs which was a plus. The Mac and cheese is an absolute joke. It's just yellow colored macaroni noodles with salt and pepper. Very little cheese or flavor and lacking major soul. If yall don't want to make a respectable Mac and cheese then take it off the menu. Parking is odd and traffic is EXTREMELY bad on this stretch of Main Street. It's a million gahdamn cars on the road all hours of the day and good luck trying to make a left out of their parking lot to get back towards the freeway. We've had several positive experiences at Big Daddy Que. The staff is nice and helpful, service is pretty fast, and the food is delicious. Lil Daddy Pulled Pork is fantastic. My favorite side is the baked beans. They are SO good. I would highly recommend trying this place out. read more

The food, service, ambiance and most importantly the customer service is wonderful! I have tried their Sunday specials, which is pretty good but was just a tease to my taste buds, LOL. The fish were horrible. It tasted like Swai or Tilapia which I don't like. Supposed to be whiting. I know the difference. So sad. Tahitian treat in can probably good haven't drank yet. Last week I got a slab of ribs and greens and sweet potatoes. Ribs were good after I put in oven with sauce but sides were horrible! So disappointed. read more

They have some amazing food! The staff is nice and the restaurant is clean. I ordered the 3 ribs with sauce on the side, the lil daddy pulled pork sandwich, the Mac and cheese, baked beans and the greens. The food was delicious ! My favorite was the Pulled Pork and the Greens. The food had the perfect amount of smoky flavor. I ate the greens so fast I forgot to take a picture outside of the plastic. I really liked the way they wrapped the wet sides so they don't spill. The ribs were also huge. I will definitely be back! read more

Unfortunately this is another failed representation of black Soul Food in Columbus, Portions was decent for the cost of $25, but it's about the way the food was made. There wasn't any love! The mac wasn't baked, instead flavors of garlic, hella pepper and wet cheese. The yams were not candied, greens had a burnt taste, The Half chicken wasn't bbq but instead baked, the dressing I can say was decently seasoned and the peach cobbler was also good! But please work on your SIDES because the pictures and radio advertising had my mouth ready for a southern taste of home and instead, I got a rush job as if all you cared about was receiving my $60!! read more
