We weren't quite sure what to expect when we picked to eat here. It was our first time trying somewhere due to Yelp ratings, and I have to say we weren't disappointed! The staff had a great attitude, not at all overbearing nor did they tend to hover.
Once seated, we were beverage strong within a nanosecond, with a very large sized "medium" mango margarita, served Texas style, on the rocks, and it was absolutely fantastic. This place is also conveniently located next to a motel (they share a parking lot, which can make parking dicey, but this is not enough to cost a 5 star rating) should you need to sleep off your dinner, but one of these will keep 2 casual diners happy for the duration of the meal.
The menu is available online and we checked it out before departing (30 minute drive for us but we like coming to this area over where we live), and I picked the Tequilaville Special, which is reviewed elsewhere on this site. She chose the enchiladas supreme. The wait for the entrees was to be expected due to the time of evening and capacity of guests, but the wait was worthwhile. Everything tasted fresh, more than ample portions, excellent prices, and the food actually had flavor (a rarity in the Mexican restaurants located in the region and surrounding areas). I can't wait to come back and try something different.
I highly recommend making this a regular in your dining rotation, I know I will be. They do take-out too, judging by the droves of people leaving with very large bags full of what was no doubt packages of deliciousness.
Potential parking shenanigans that could occur notwithstanding, the only gripe I can find is that the restroom seems a bit low rent sketchy. They're located downstairs, around a corner and down a dimly lit hallway with a cage door on one side (likey a party room, or possibly zombie timber wolf storage, it was dark & there weren't any signs posted, so draw your own conclusions), then upon opening the bathroom door, you have to open ANOTHER door to then actually get into the restroom. It had a serious "Resident Evil" vibe to it, but then I realized it was a standard restroom, & reasonably clean. Just saying, use the buddy system if you take your kids. This experience was not at reason to ding them a star.
This place is great, give it a shot, and I hope to see you there! read more
