We loved the Fiesta Del Rio on Polaris Parkway and were sad to see it close permanently last week. So, today, Cinco de Mayo, we decided to head out to Johnstown to the original Fiesta Del Rio and we found it to be as good as our old favorite on Polaris Parkway. The interior decor is very pleasant and bright. And while it is Mexican-themed, it is a more subdued interior than most Mexican restaurants. The service was EXCELLENT and the food was GREAT. It being Taco Tuesday, my wife had a selection of tacos and all were great. I went for my go-to, a burrito, and was not disappointed. The pulled pork in the burrito was exceptional. It was served with rice and a salsa like salad on the side -- it was great. This location is a bit of a drive compared to their former Polaris location but it was worth the drive. read more

They have a lunch menu that is affordable and happy hour 12pm to 6pm. I'm planning to take advantage of this deal and have a few drinks someday. The environment was wonderful and the food looked great. I ordered something and it was not at all described as it was on the menu. Before I could tell the waiter that it wasn't good, he disappeared for 35 minutes and didn't give us drinks or check on us. And still charged me for the meal I very obviously didn't even touch. read more

Hubby and I decided to go out and find a new place to eat. Picked Johnstown and we decided on Mexican food. Looks small on the outside look but once it opens up. Way more seating than I thought there would be. Once inside we were seated right away. Greeted with chips and salsa. I ordered a Sangria and Hubby a tea. He ordered Enchiladas Rancheros and I the Tacos EL Pastor. Food came out quick and hot. The portion size blew me away. My pic tells it all. My tacos were overly filled with meat and I'm not complaining one bit. My husband said the mole sauce was excellent. We really enjoyed our dinner and we will be back to try something new next time. I'm always overwhelmed by Mexican menus, but having a one pager for lunch deals helps a lot. Free chips and salsa! Why wouldn't they? I got the lunch pick two and picked a chicken quesadilla (loaded with flavor and with chicken!) and bean tostada, which looked like a salad and was so perfect. It also came with rice and beans. My husband ordered a chimichanga and enjoyed it. Our kindergartner had a cheese quesadilla with apple slices. Yum yum. Hubby & I were driving through this small town & decided to stop to get some tacos to go. We sat at the bar so we could place a to go order. We were asked if we wanted a drink & we replied that we wanted to order tacos to go. I also asked for chips & salsa while we waited. The tortilla chips were good but the salsa was meh. We were ignored for at least 15 minutes until finally someone got around to taking our order. I got a beef hard taco ($3.25) & a guacamole appetizer ($4.75). Hubby ordered a chicken soft taco ($3.99) & Xango ($6.99) which is "creamy cheesecake wrapped in a pastry fried tortilla" for dessert. When our food came, we sat outside to eat. The tacos were tasty but small. The guacamole was in a tiny 2 oz container. The "cheesecake" was below average. Would I eat here again? Maybe...to try their "Pick two lunch combo" ($8.95). read more

The proteins were warm, tortilla straight out of the bag, enough sauce to cover, sprinkle of cheese, sour cream salad, and standard rice. Nothing horrible, just not enough to miss not going. We really enjoyed our food and drinks on our first visit here. The complimentary salsa is just the way I like it - smooth with a little zip and lots of flavor. It is just right for the free chips. The sangria was refreshing and the on rocks margaritas were delicious. The Taco Supremo was too much goodness to finish in one sitting. The Fish Tacos, Tacos al Pastor, and Shrimp Tacos were all done well and were nicely presented. The chef at Fiesta really knows what he's doing. The Chocolate Brownie Cake he whipped up was fantastic. The service was also a plus. You don't always get smiling, efficient, and attentive servers these days. It was a wonderful added benefit to our afternoon out. Fiesta del Rio is a nice addition to the dining options in Johnstown. It's also worthy of the 35-minute drive from the far side of Columbus. We discovered this place by accident a few weeks ago. We've been back a few times since. Each time I've tried something different, and I have yet to have a bad experience. This place isn't pretentious, they serve good Mexican food, at very reasonable prices. We love the chips and salsa, the rest of the food is decent, not outstanding. Try the Pollo Loco! Very disappointing outing. We've had great meals here in the past. The margaritas had always been bad. (They taste like they did not rinse the machine after they disinfected it. Very strong chemical taste.) But we got used to that. Order wine instead. But this time the meal was deplorable. I ordered steak fajitas. It was 80% onions and peppers and maybe 20% beef. The beef was burnt. Not charred. Burnt. The fajitas were so old that they stuck together and tore apart when you tried to separate them. I could not even finish the meal. Service was glacially slow. When I complained about how bad the meal was I was asked if I'd like dessert. Very disappointed. This was considered a hidden jewel of Johnstown. Ordered from the menu on Google. First thing they say is it's the wrong menu and they raised the price for burritos by 2.00. When I asked about the price for the steak burrito the guy said 12.00. Same for the crab. When we picked them up my crab burrito was 13.00 and husbands was 13.50. When we commented on the extra prices they said crab or steak was extra. That should have been told when we called. The burritos were a nice size but prices too high. We're not going back. read more

We love our local Mexican restaurant. We are always welcomed with a smile, the staff is so kind and fun! I can honestly say that we get the fastest service there even with large parties. Walked in seated right away, ordered drinks within a few minutes san julio margarita plus water. Chips and salsa presented. Settled on the vegetarian fajita add side of guacamole $3.50 WOW! now my lunch is $13.50 Everything tasted great, fajitas had no spice just seemed like salt n pepper kind if bland in a good wholesome way but could not finish portion served. Since they do not offer the san julio margarita in smaller size I ordered a regular margarita on the rocks (which I have had here before with no problems) - I took 1 sip and about spit it out. I never send drinks back but there was no way I could even endure the taste - it was horrible. Like days and days old gross never again! No way was that tequila, if so whatever mixed they used was super gross. I am not the least bit buzzed from grand san julio so prob avoid alcoholic mixed drinks, stick to something that cannot be watered down lol Anyways always good food and service regardless of drinks. Will have to find a mexican restaurant with stronger drinks or price to match consistency. Will dine again for food only next time. 1 less star for the first margarita I have said no to in 20 years. read more

Holy cow this place is awful. First it took around 10 minutes or so for the waiter to arrive . Got our drink orders in and wait another 10 minutes until he comes back. Order the Flautas, Taco Asada, and Steak Mexicana. Flautaus wa cooked beyond belief, the Tacos came out as a Taco Salad (assuming the waiter mishears the order?) And the steak looked pathetic. Waiter didn't come back until the end which I had to flag down to get my check and get out of there. Skip this place at all cost - service, food quality, and delivery was bad - very bad. read more

They do have good hours and provide a nice mid-range dinner option in contrast to the fast food options in town but not as upscale as other options. Generous sized portions.
