    California roll

Ordered lunch with coworkers from this place though I have been there for dinner a few times and it is always fun and the food is good and they do not disappoint. Lunch was really nice. I had got a bento box with chicken teriyaki shumai and a California roll. Food was fresh and very good and very prompt delivery.

The sushi is fresh and the happy hour is bomb, two drinks and you're feeling it, a third and you'll forget you got sushi to begin with LOL. It's quiet on a 4pm , hopefully everyone doesn't flock here after this.

I went here years ago and it was my no. 1 sushi place to go. I like the atmosphere and I like that they have rooms for privacy, good service. I went back again, it disappointed me. the sushi quality is very unsatisfied. Fish is not fresh, sushi rice tastes like overnight rice (very hard). Also, a worker there keeps opening our door without knotting on the door and keeps telling us to hurry up to finish the sushi. I still like the atmosphere and the woman who served was nice and friendly. But will not go back again.

    Shrimp Tempura & Brooklyn Roll

I went here for lunch with my partner and ordered takeout. The interior was very spacious, and there's a 2nd floor. There is also a smaller, private room with sliding doors & you sit on the floor. They also have a bar. We ordered the eel avocado, salmon, and shrimp tempura rolls, were yummy. The Brooklyn roll, on the other hand, stood out for being much larger than the regular rolls. However, the Brooklyn roll wasn't that good even though it had plenty of filling. We also tried the takoyaki, which was delicious and tasted even better than the rolls. Next time, we will dine in.

$19 seafood udon noodles: huge portions but so bland and tasteless

The atmosphere is casual. Good for large parties or low-key dates. Prices are not cheap. Food quality is very poor. Service was nonexistent on a Monday night. Our orders were messed up. We waited for hours for our food. Utensils were not brought out. Our dirty dishes remained on the table for the duration of the night. The limited staff did the best they could but our experience was awful nonetheless. Miso soup tasted off. Chicken fried rice was mostly rice, barely any chicken. $19 seafood udon noodles and $17 chicken udon noodles were the worst dishes on the menu. So bland and tasteless. We couldn't eat. Frozen chicken and seafood mix. Barely any protein per noodle ratio. Skip. Rolls were meh. Poorly executed. Green tea fried ice cream was probably the best thing we tried, which is a shame. Do not recommend. Will not be back.

I got the sushi and sashimi for two. I came in during lunch and it wasn't that busy yet. The restaurant is somewhat clean and spacious. They have some rooms for small groups with the sliding doors. They do have a credit card charge to your bill if you pay credit card though.

Food: 8/10 Service: 10/10 Ambiance: open area and private tables available for large parties Food was great. My friends loved their drinks and they particularly liked the Mai Tai, Espresso Martini, and the Relaxed Ruby. Must try Toro Sashimi!

Made a reservation for a room for 14 ppl a few days ahead but when i got there they said there was no reservation. They still gave us a room since it was around 5:30pm and not alot of people. Then after getting seated we made our order the waitress told us our order was coming. But then they told us they made the wrong order and gave to the other room (we were seated first and ordered first), we ordered 2 sushi and sashimi deluxe for 3 So we had to wait longer. From ordering to getting the sushi and sashimi serve it took approx 1-1.5hrs. We had other food served before thst but after we finish the other food the order still wasnt served. Pretty disappointing. Not to mention the sushi and sashimi wasn't even that good. For the price it could have been better.

California dinner with miso; spicy tuna hand roll no tempura; home condiments

I am happy to say that we visited Tenzan today and found the items to be fresh and flavorful. The California roll is still being made without roe, but I am okay with that because their avocado is the same legendary liquicado that we've come to expect. The Miso was well made. The gyoza were properly cooked and smelled great. The spicy tuna hand roll used tuna that wasn't old, which is one of the great sushi downfalls. Everything was fresh, no complaints. I am glad to see they have adjusted to their new restrictions and are making great food within the new financial parameters.

My friends and I ordered the ozakaya donburi set, chicken karaage curry, kaki fried and a5 fried rice. The fish was buttery delicious. Loved how they serve a hot broth at the very end of your donburi set. Save some rice at the end for a nice experience to end your meal. The a5 was fatty and the karaage was fried perfectly. The restaurant was very busy when we went on a Saturday afternoon. The back dining area was crowded and very full. The tables are a bit small and tight though, so they brought out our food in courses. We started off with the Kaishin Don ($45), which was perfectly plated over a bed of rice. This one came with a good amount of uni, which was much appreciated. Then we had the Ozakaya Donburi Set ($49), which is such a fun one. You have a raw egg to mix into your seafood bowl accompanied with some pickled veggies and sliced sashimi. Once you've ate more than half your bowl, you can get a broth that finished cooking your fish and turning the rice into porridge. The broth is savory and tangy, which gives it such a nice and refreshing flavor. We enjoyed both of these dishes a lot and it was fun to make your own handrolls. Then came the Mentai Pasta ($19), which is sadly one of the worst things I've ever ate. Not only was there barely any Mentai flavor, but the mayonnaise completely overpowered everything. I couldn't get over how I might as well have ate a spoonful of mayo on its own; that's how rich and heavy this dish was. The bacon was overcooked as well but somewhat cut all the mayo. I even tried to add some soy sauce but there was no saving this pasta. We ended up tossing the rest of the dish and I am not one to waste food. I even tried to complain to the waitress but she just ignored it. It was unfortunate because the other dishes we had were amazing. Luckily we were still able to end on a good note as we ordered the Oshiruko ($12) for dessert. This came with two scoops of matcha ice cream, grilled mochi, and red bean. Everything went well together and the matcha was strong. It's wild how good and bad some of the dishes were here. Definitely stick to the sushi and rice bowl dishes and whatever you do, DO NOT order the mentai pasta unless you love mayo.

It's been open for a few years, so clearly it has a good enough formula to keep the neighborhood happy. I have been here once before, but returned last week after dining several meals at Tomoni in Jackson Heights. Apparently, the owners are friends. Nonetheless, I needed to make the comparison. After my first few bites of their Tora Don and Chirashi Don, it was clear that this restaurant has the better quality seafood. Each slice of sashimi had vibrant colors, clean taste, and the proper texture. Tomoni is not bad, but fall slightly short of this caliber. With that said, there is an even farther gap between their rice quality. Though Tora is very good, Tomoni produces nearly perfect texture and acidity for my taste buds. Other than the best omakase restaurants in NYC, Tomoni shines as one of the best versions of sushi rice in the five boroughs. Service is good and space is cute. If I have a craving for some decent Japanese food, I would drive 20 minutes here for a meal anytime.

While wandering through Bed-Stuy on a weekday evening, my husband and I decided to try out this new…read moresushi spot. It wasn't terrible--but I had a lot of mixed feelings. Food: 3/5 I'm a huge sushi fan, so I was excited when I saw a deluxe sashimi set on the menu. Unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark. The scallop was thinly sliced and lacked the rich texture I was hoping for. The salmon and other cuts were decent, but short and oddly shaped--chunky yet small, which made the whole presentation feel a bit off for something labeled deluxe. We also tried to branch out and ordered the short rib entree. For $21, it was shockingly small--definitely a single-person portion, not sharable. I added extra ikura to a salmon donburi bowl for $2, but it was barely a teaspoon's worth--just enough to say it was there. Oddly, the salmon slices in that bowl were thinner than the sashimi we had just eaten, and overall, it left me still hungry even after sharing a maki roll. Lastly, my husband ordered a green salad, which somehow took the entire meal service to arrive. When it finally came, it was just plain romaine, cucumbers, radish, and dressing. For a dinner that clocked in at over $150 (after tip), we definitely left underwhelmed. Service: 3/5 This part wasn't bad, just confusing. We were seated quickly, but the pacing of the meal was strange. Our seaweed salad and soups came out promptly, but the green salad came last, after the hot dishes and nearly after my husband finished eating. Also, a small thing--but when I'm paying $16 for four oysters, I want to know what kind they are. The menu just said "West Coast oysters," but our server couldn't tell us the variety or origin. Not a huge deal, but it added to a general lack of polish that didn't quite match the pricing. I don't think I'd return. For the price, there are better sushi options in Brooklyn with higher quality, better portions, and clearer service. Still, I appreciate new spots opening up in the neighborhood, and I'm always happy to try something new. Hopefully they refine the menu and service with time.

We started with the salmon belly carpaccio which I'd say isn't really a carpaccio because the salmon isn't sliced as thinly as you'd expect. But! I mention that just to set expectations. Nomenclature aside, it's an excellent appetizer. Served in a truffle and ponzu sauce, the salmon is lightly seared which yields two different textures to the fish. It practically melts in your mouth. Highly recommend this dish. For my entree I went with the trio don, which is 6 pieces of sashimi served over your choice of plain or sushi rice (sushi rice for me). The fish was fresh and flavorful. The portion was perfect for me. My boyfriend ordered a yellowtail roll and enjoyed that as well. We also shared a carafe of the cold house sake. I'd definitely come back and try more items on the menu. It's great for sharing and trying new dishes. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the prices were very reasonable.
