I told the owner, Arthur that he's done the impossible: gotten 5 stars on Yelp. :) I can see why. I went in yesterday while I was in this part of town for a variety of reasons: my cats, a very big older dog, hedgehogs and wildlife. Arthur helped with everything. They have extremely good pricing on the highest quality dog food and more. Arthur even helped with my older dog's health issues. He said he didn't know much about hedgehogs but he knew enough -- I was able to get mealworms, hay for my rabbits, bedding for the hedgies, raw food and dry food for my dog, and now I just need to convert my cats off of the horrible commercial food they're on... If I can find an affordable solution. Everything is very well priced. I was surprised I spent maybe 1/2 of what I would have at PetSmart. Probably a 1/4 actually. Much of this "high quality food" is completely unaffordable but they had some great options. If you feed your dog raw, you can get a giant tube of raw beef, turkey or other products for under $20. The pre-cut up kind is a little more. At PetSmart, a small bag of raw dog food is $45 I think - it's crazy. They also loaded it all into my trunk for me, thank you! They have antibiotics, bedding, anything you need, and if they don't have it, they can order it for you. Sorry for my long review, but I love locally owned businesses and they are really kind and helpful and well priced - and great at what they do. The tiny space has LOTS of product. I will be back and btw, they open at 8ish most days, which can help since most places don't open that early. They're in a small building just north of Hardy on University. Update - Arthur called and emailed with more info for my pets. Very nice guy. Thank you. read more

Hands down my favorite place to go to get my pet supplies. The customer service here is top notch. They are all super sweet, helpful, knowledgable (have given great advice on the differences in products and my pets sensitivities with diet) and always carry my dog food to the car for me. I have never left without a smile - a sharp contrast to when I have on the rare occasion had to go to Pet Club for late hour shopping (bored teenagers that usually could care less about the customer) - I usually leave there a tad irritated. Anyways, I highly recommend this place, and love supporting this wonderful local, family business! read more

So happy we went here today. The staff if VERY friendly and full of knowledge with regards to dogs. I will definitely be coming back here and not waste any of my time at the major chain pets stores. read more

Incredible! Been in a couple times and the staff is so friendly and helpful. Pretty small little place but they always have exactly what i need. Would highly recommend. read more

I always come here to get my cat food because they have the best prices for really great food. Anything you purchase is gunna be the right, wholesome food for your cat or dog...grain free and the first ingredient will be protein. The people there are always helpful and friendly and they are knowledgeable. They'll answer your questions and give you the best advice to their knowledge on pet food and pet health in general. And it's a local joint. Nothin but good. read more

Tempe Feed is our favorite store for chicken feed and supplies. Great prices for top quality products, incredibly helpful/knowledgeable staff. read more

This is what pet stores should be like. It's small, family owned and operated, has a great curated selection of quality products, and they're very friendly and helpful. This is the kind of place where I'd pay a premium to shop, however the prices are good too. Now I'm new to the pet shopping game, but I have two price comparisons I can mention. The first store I went to was PetSmart, where after getting lost in 5+ aisles of dog food (it was confusing to say the least) I found a grooming brush for $13. There were a couple options, both the same price. Neither appealed to me because of the colors. I picked the purple because it seemed to be higher quality. Anyway... the following day I make it to Tempe Feed & Tack. There they had grooming brush in a neutral beige/clear color that was better quality for only $10. I couldn't believe it. Also while here I bought a 30 lbs bag of Victor dog food for $48. The guy working there gave me for free a ziplock with some enzyme powder to help the transition from shelter food to high protein grain-free food. Later, I looked up the bag of dog food on Amazon for $52. Nice. Look no further than Tempe Feed & Tack. They're legit in service, quality, experience, and price. read more

Love this place! Staff is very knowledgable, friendly and kind to my dog. They have a wide range of supplies, supplements and food. So grateful for their onsite with my allergy suffering dog. read more

I love this place. More helpful than my vet... I go out of my way to come buy my dog and cat food from them. They give me great advice relating to skin issues with my german shepherd and the best food for him. Love supporting this small business. read more

First time going to Tempe Feed. Found the the to be very helpful, informative, and willing to take their time responding to questions. They still conduct business like it used to done back in the day. If you have animals that you need food or supplies for, you'll enjoy your experience at Tempe Feed. read more

Seems this is the last place in the east valley to purchase Orijen cat food. Nice place - polite and helpful employees. Close to home, too. Best of all - a fair price on orijen cat food. First time I have not been price gouged on orijen... so, I will be back! read more

Tempe Feed and Tack is the only place I will get food for my dog! I have been coming here since my dog was about 3 months old, so about a year now. The owners, Robin and Arthur, absolutely love my dog! Especially Robin. And even her kids know who my dog is and they love him just as much. And her kids are so amazing as well. They're all so sweet. They remember us every time we come in and Robin is always giving my dog treats and she is just so kind. I would highly recommend this place! Robin is so knowledgeable whenever I have any questions about my dog (and since I was a first time dog owner, I needed a LOT of help). I love Tempe Feed & Tack and this will always be where I buy anything for my dog! read more

I called into this store about a week ago looking to buy baby chickens. The person who answered the phone informed me that they did not sell chicks but gave me the names and phone numbers of other feed stores that do. I was really impressed with their customer service so I bought my chicks elsewhere and went here to buy the rest of my necessities. This place is truly one of a kind. As soon as I walked in I was kindly greeted and promptly asked what I was looking for. I let them know I was going to be a first time chick owner and was in need of the basics. The guy that was working with me was so knowledgable and gave me a ton of useful information. He gathered up all of my stuff and put it into my car for me. What a great business! read more

I really liked that there was a feed and tack store in Tempe. What I don't like about this business is the owner. He is always rushed, and rude! When I ask about a specific product, he never carries it. At one point when I asked about Amber naturals, he gave me a lecture why he didn't like it. You don't have to like a product to carry it. Especially one that is a natural healthy product for animals. I asked about Red Lake Earth DE Earth, he doesn't carry it. I asked about ivermectin, and I was lied to and told there is a shortage. When asked why he claims to be lower priced guaranteed, he became offensive. Is it worth it to save time and gas to go to this store any longer, no it is not. Check his prices against other competitors, major retail and small businesses, and you'll see you'll save money elsewhere. I'm done giving neighborhood businesses chances. Only To be treated rudely by the owner. Now let me add his sons are very nice, obviously don't take after their father. Hopefully daddy will retire, and the sons will run the business with wonderful customer service. read more

I was in search for a fly mask without ears and a nose for my horse all morning and have been to two other major stores in the valley and couldn't find one. I was ecstatic to find that they had exactly what I was looking for here and didn't have to settle for one with ears or to go through the hassle of ordering one online. I was all over the valley and they had what I wanted so close to my home. They guys greeted me as soon as I walked in and asked if I needed help. Thanks for being there Tempe Feed! read more

I only go here now for pet products. Best service and great prices beats out the big boxes any day and support local PHX family owned too. Arthur and his family at Tempe feed & tack have helped us so many times, they even took back a bag that upset the dogs stomach and suggested another brand that did the trick. read more

Everything here is great: customer service, parking, healthy brands, accessories, and more. Stop going to Petsmart now and start going there. You will not be disappointed. read more

These guys are awesome! The staff makes you feel like family when you go in. Great selection of healthy dog food too!

Absolutely love this place. Arthur, Robin and the rest of the family are fabulous. They really know their stuff. All of their food is natural and healthy, won't find any Beneful here. We do pet sitting and have brought all of our pups here to visit and both them and the employees love it. We have come here with several issues with both our cats and the pups we sit for and they always have great answers that are thoroughly researched. read more

My wife and I went to the Tempe Art festival with with our 1 year old dog. As soon as we got there we could tell that he could not take the heat on paws. We googled the closest pet store. Tack and feed was the closet one. When we got there we found them very friendly and helpful. I will be going back when I need more pet supplies. read more

I really like this place. Art(hur), the owner, was incredibly helpful with information re: the new adoption of my pet and he stocks a variety of the better foods in the industry. He was informative regarding the food, but most of all he wasn't stingy and was completely willing to give me treats to try with my pet. It's small, which may be a turn off for some, but it's extremely nice not to have to walk to aisle 15 to lug 40 lbs of dog food back to the car and pet friendly. Great place to get advice from other owners also. read more

Small, family owned, and good prices. I buy my pig's food here. Great customer service too. Someone always carries the food to my truck.

What makes this place so much different than your major pet store chain is these people really care. At Tempe Feed and Tack if you are simply looking to purchase dog food they are more than happy to talk about brand selection and carry the bag to your car for you. If your dog is sick you can buy remedies there and they will be able to give you advice on similar episodes they have been through with their dog. The staff's time, attention, and helpfulness is unparalleled in comparison to any major chain. For me, the reason why I choose Tempe Feed and Tack is because every time I bring my dogs in the staff will not only remember their names but they remember which tricks they know and they always have treats at the ready. Tempe Feed and Tack is just outstanding. read more

I really love buying from this place. Every time I go in, I always end up spending an extra 20min looking around at all the fun, health oriented pet care products - I can't help it! I have to make sure that I have some time to kill whenever I get dog and cat food. Not only that, but the employees there really know what they're talking about and are really helpful (they'll even carry a big bag to your car! Or bike!). As I said, I spend a lot of time browsing when I go in, and the staff is always friendly and are more than happy to talk about the products without being pushy. Apparently, they also carry some locally made products, like dog wash, which is really cool. read more

I cannot believe it took me so long to go into this store! The name makes it sound like they would sell giant bags of cheap dog chow with no label on it BUT they have really good high quality food and treats, the prices are very competitive, and they sell vaccines too! The owner has some really good advise and sometimes some very... interesting advise.... they did give me the phone number for a clinic that gives rabies vaccines that don't contain mercury.. I didn't even know there was mercury in the rabies vaccine, so I will definitely being checking that place out when the time comes!! The owner is clearly VERY passionate and I appreciate that! They even have a frequent buyer program after you buy so many bags of dog food you get one free, just save your receipts and the food bar codes. Amazing store! read more

I've been buying dog food and dog hygiene/medical products here for the last six months, and I've found that the staff are really knowledgeable, and they are also low-pressure. These guys genuinely want to help you find the right product, and they don't try to up-sell or plug extra/unnecessary stuff. The store area itself can feel kind of cramped, but I'd much rather spend less time getting the right thing and support a local business than wander through the aisles of a big-box store searching for a product I may or may not need. read more

My Mother told me about Tempe Feed for awhile. I have two dogs and one of them needs grain free. I am coming here from now on. read more

Fabulous store!! My husband and I purchase all of our dog supplies from here, and we come back over and over again! We love the high quality food they sell (no gluten, fillers, etc.), as well as the exceptional service. They remember us very time we come in, and they are always excited to see our dog, Lucy. We lived close to this store for a while and never knew they sold dog supplies, but after we've shopped here, believe me - we won't be going anywhere else!! read more

Go here for a complete education on pet food. You owe it to your cat or dog. They will set you straight on myth and the truth about common expensive pet foods and commercial foods. They even back up their claims with a little sample to make sure your pet likes it. THAT is SERVICE! I learned so much! read more

I recently adopted a precious cat. I went to Tempe Feed and Tack because of the reviews I read here. At first I thought their prices would be beat by local pet stores. However I found instead that many of the high quality products they keep on hand cannot be purchased at chain pet stores and online they are at a greater cost. In addition to this, they gave me good advice and were super friendly. I will definitely be giving them more of my business. read more

Went in here on a whim since its close to home to get some dog food. After asking me questions about my dogs and our lifestyle they recommended a food and WOW! What a difference in my labs! Their coats are nicer, have gotten leaner muscle mass and definitely a lot less poop to clean up (yay!). The prices are competitive with the large box stores, which honestly, surprised me. I get my cat food here now as well and I swear, my cat has gotten bigger. Not fatter, just bigger. And she's 5. The staff are super friendly and knowledgable and I love supporting a small local business when it deserves to have my money. read more

This review is long overdue. I've been coming to Tempe Feed & Tack for 7 years and they're amazing! My dog had digestive issues, and I knew I didn't want her eating crap food. They always have a smile and a friendly word, as well as always carry the big bad of food to my car for me. Don't be fooled by the lack luster review - I highly suggest everyone coming in, even if it's just to grab treats for their pets (I get my cat toys and treats here too), and they have the best bones for pups too - even antlers! read more

I buy my dog food here and won't shop anywhere else. - VERY competitive pricing (even significantly cheaper than Amazon). - They carry a lot of quality brands that the major stores don't carry. Check out Victor Premium Dog Food. - They will special order food for you that they don't carry and will even keep a bag on hand just so they will always have it when you need to come pick up another bag. - Staff is knowledgeable and friendly and most importantly, don't try and sell you crap that you didn't come in looking for. read more
