BEFORE, she had a beautiful long fluffy tail. It curled all the way up and she could wag it happily.

They RUINED my dog's tail. My dog had a beautiful, long, fluffy tail and they chopped it down to a stub. It was NOT matted or adhering her at all. They chopped it off because they wanted to and I hate it. My baby doesn't even look like my baby anymore. She loves to chase her tail and rub her long tail on people she loves, she loves when I run my hand along her tail and now she can't! It barely even WAGS! I would understand if it was matted or objecting anything but it was NOT. I brush her all the time, including her tail, and It's curly and sits up so it's not blocking anything or getting like pee and poop on it. ALSO, they admittedly didn't do all of the things I paid for. I paid for the bath (not bath and haircut so why did they even cut her tail in the first place???) and shed release + which is supposed to include double shed release shampoo, blow dry, 15 min brush + second brush, ear cleaning, anal gland expression, nail trim, scented spritzs, teeth brushing and nail buffing. They didn't clean her ears, do the second brush, being her teeth, buff her nails, or do the spritz...what did I pay for then? Lana and I will NEVER return and I wouldn't recommend them to my worse enemy.

Pretty disappointed with my visit today. My dog couldn't get groomed even though I have been to this petco location before and other petco locations and have never had an issue. They have told me in the past he does get a little nervous but never to the point where they can't finish. Caitlind, the stylist who helped us, said that people may have lied in the past about him doing good due to taking the easier route to just be done which I find strange because they have always given me detailed feedback and have said he does get a little nervous but overall he does good so clearly maybe she couldn't do her job well enough and can't handle grooming a dog. I have brought him to this exact location as well so is she saying they lie there as well? I'm very disappointed because I really needed to get him groomed and this was the only location available today which is why I came here and I wish I didn't, or I wish the lady that helped us before was there because she was able to get the job done. She had emphasized before even taking him that if he does get too nervous she will have to let me know to pick him up and I had told her that's never been an issue and she called me 10 mins after I left when she said she would've known in 30. It seems she didn't really even try because it was such a quick call. Again, I just find it very strange because my dog has gotten groomed many times and I always take him to petco, and this has never happened. She seemed a little nervous and even shaky when she was handing me a paper to other locations so I can only assume she hasn't been there long or just doesn't know how to do her job too well. I saw other reviews as well that mentioned the same thing about the same stylist so clearly the stylist needs better training and she's the problem, not my dog. Will not be returning here. Update on my review: My friend who is not a professional was able to groom my dog just fine. Says a lot that a person who is supposed to be a qualified professional groomer was not able to get the job done and my friend who is not a professional was able to get the job done. It's not easy hence why I don't do it myself but a little patience goes a long way. Worked out for me as I didn't have to pay as much as I would've.

Not good at all!! Caitlynd at the Dobson in Mesa location called me early and said they couldn't finish grooming my dog because he was STRESSED. She clarified that he was not biting, he was not crying, he was not whining... He was just stressed. When I went to go pick him up, the only part that was shaved were his front two legs, his belly, and his butt. The rest of him was left long. They literally sent him home like this, he looks absolutely ridiculous. I would assume majority of dogs do not like getting groomed and I'm sorry but if you cannot handle a little resistance from a big dog, you should NOT be doing this job. I have been getting my dog groomed for the last five years on a very consistent schedule and have never had this issue before. We had one bad groomer, and now they have banned us from getting groomed at Petco. I am very frustrated.

    Shaved area

STAY AWAY from getting your dog groomed here! (Mesa location on Dobson) They caused me a $70 trip to the vet after the shaved my dog down past the skin in his private area and caused abrasions. He's now wearing the " collar of shame" to keep him from licking the abrasion and causing infection. When i contacted them, they said "oh I forgot to tell you about that, sorry and then afterwards didn't want to take full responsibility. and said maybe he's allergic ( he'd been there 3 times prior and has been groomed regularly since a pup ) and then they suggested" I take him elsewhere. As if that was even a question. Tuh...

I absolutely LOVE this place!…read more From my very first visit a few years ago with my giant English Mastiff (200 lbs ) to our now bi-weekly routine, this self-wash has been nothing short of amazing! The wash bays easily accommodate his size with room to spare, and their recent remodel made everything even better--more stations and great updates all around. One thing I really appreciate is that there's no extra charge for large dogs, which is "huge" for owners of giant breeds. And every time, the staff kindly offers an extra towel to help get him dried off--such a thoughtful touch! The team here is always friendly and helpful. They walked me through everything on my first visit and recommended products tailored to his skin and coat. We now use the de-shed conditioner and I can honestly say--I notice the difference at home... and so does my vacuum He always comes out looking and smelling great. Sometimes we even add a few spritzes of the doggie cologne when available--such a fun bonus! And of course, no visit is complete without him "convincing" me to grab one of their adorable gourmet dog treats at checkout. They're so cute and perfect for pictures or just spoiling your fur baby a little extra. For my budget-conscious friends--Tuesdays are half-off self-service washes (which is amazing!), just keep in mind it can get a bit busy, especially if it falls on a holiday. Lastly, I have to give major kudos to the staff for maintaining such a clean and sanitary environment. You can truly see the effort they put into cleaning each station thoroughly--it makes a big difference and gives me peace of mind bringing my dog here. Highly recommend this place to any dog owner--especially those with big pups!

    Fuzzy Paws Pet Salon

I took my older dog to this pet salon for grooming yesterday, hoping for a positive experience…read more From the start, the groomer was not the friendliest and seemed irritated when I asked about different cut options. As someone who isn't familiar with grooming blade lengths, I was expecting a little guidance, but instead, I got attitude. When I picked up my dog, he looked fine at first glance, so I paid and even tipped. However, once we got home, I noticed a trail of blood and found a cut on his back foot. It's hard to believe the groomer didn't see this before handing him back to me. Either they ignored it, or they just weren't paying attention--neither of which is acceptable when working with animals. There was another groomer I saw who was more kind/welcoming but overall just not a good first experience and I won't be returning.

Our dog has been groomed twice with no issue before and she always came out looking spectacular…read more (see the picture) We brought our Golden Doodle (Daisy Mae) to Fuzzy Paws at a friends recommendation. First let me say our Doodle is brushed every day and her hair is fluffy and curly which means you cannot just run a brush or comb through it and she was bathed by us just two days ago. Here is the brush that is used everyday by us: https://www.petsmart.com/dog/grooming-supplies/brushes-combs-and-blowdryers/only-natural-pet-pin-bristle-dog-brush-58150.html I'm wrong but the definition of matted hair doesn't mean you are unable to run a comb through it with no resistance like clean and straight human hair. So about 10 minutes after we drop her off we get a call that her legs are matted and the areas behind her legs are also matted so they need to shave her down to of an inch. The grooming had already started on her body so it was my understanding that we had a couple of options: 1) Not groom her legs, 2) take her as she was, 3) let the grooming continue. Hind sight being perfect we should have had them stop immediately when they said she was matted and gone to pick up our dog. We are not pleased with the outcome as can be seen from the attached photos showing grooming completed by another groomer in May of 2025, a picture before she went to Fuzzy Paws, and when she came home from Fuzzy Paws. Our guess is that they don't want to take the time and do the job correctly but rather say the dog is matted shave them and move on to the next paying customer.
