We loved this place!! It was our first time coming in to bring in our 8 month old Ratchi Jasmine she needed her nails trimmed. Now Jasmine can be a little hyper so we were looking for a groomer who has patience with his clients and we were very impressed they were quick and very kind with her. This also has a self dog wash were you can bring in your 4 legged fur babies in and wash them yourself without fussing with you dog or cat in the bath tub. The customer service was great so I think we'll be making this place our permanent dog groomer for our sweet girl I highly recommend bringing your pet here for his or her grooming needs and did I mention they have an adorable selection of harnesses, leashes and collars? I've brought my two dogs here multiple times within the past couple months to utilize the self serve dog washing stations. Love love love Animal Clipper in Mesa! I've been taking all of my fur babies here for years, 10 years to be exact! They always do an incredible job and make my pups look and smell fantastic! When I used to live in San Tan Valley, it would take 45 min to see them. So I decided to try some place closer and was incredibly disappointed. I learned my lesson and stuck to those that I know. They are kind, always ask what you want and do an excellent job! My three dogs: I have a husky that sheds to infinity and beyond, but when they use the de-shed service, he looks great and actually sheds less?! Go figure! I also have a cha-weenie that they clean up and put bows in her ears and she always looks amazing. Lastly I have a mini Aussie as well and every time they trim and clean her she looks like a puppy! Took my dog here on Saturday October 21, 2023 and I'm beyond disappointed and upset. This was his third time here, first time having his grooming done by Diane. My dog has been seeing a groomer since he was 3 months old and is well behaved besides some anxiousness. He is not aggressive nor does he require a muzzle during grooming. He came home with excessive cuts and gashes on his body and was visibly shaken and distraught the entire day. He has been in pain and has been licking his wounds all over his body. Animal clipper was quick to schedule my golden retriever in and was prompt with the service they provided for my pup. The cut was okay... a little choppy and kind of uneven. But my pup seemed happy and felt so great. Great nail trim and ear cleaning and her teeth and breath smelt-looked so much better. I will definitely try them again! read more

I love the concept and convenience of self washing your pets. The blow dry area is amazing (& honestly why I want to use the service) however the hours and communication around it are ridiculous. Two different Saturday afternoons (early) I've tried to go and they're closed. If you say you're open till 4 or 5 and you're closing early COMMUNICATE THAT. In todays social media world a FB post or twitter saying last appt is 1:45, closing at 2 would be amazing. I'll try one more time but you really need to do better. read more

Note to groomer... if you are unfamiliar or inexperienced in giving a particular haircut for a specific breed, please say so... It's ok that you can't do everything. But when you respond curtly that you have over 14 years experience in dog grooming and give the impression that you know what you are doing I expect a proper cut. We recently moved to Mesa and needed a groomer for our miniature schnauzer. We selected this business due to the location and customer reviews. We requested a traditional schnauzer cut and showed pictures of what we expected. The groomer stated she had over 14 years experience in pet grooming. I would have preferred honesty and tell me they are not experienced in this type of cut and recommended someone else or even a different business. I would understand and select someone else. Unfortunately my dog no longer resembles a miniature schnauzer and I will not return. In addition I am leaving an accurate review of my experience and dissatisfaction. FYI... I paid almost $100 for a bad haircut, reminiscent of when I was young and went to a barber college for a haircut, and my mother having to fix the bad haircut. Besides the poor haircut, my puppy has a nick or small cut on his left front paw, where it looks like the clippers got away from the groomer. This location is perfect for me! I don't drive far, and it makes for a quick drop off and pick up. Had a horrible experience at a groomer in Scottsdale. Came in here and explained what happened so they could understand why Winnie may react a certain way. They treat her well and are very reassuring to my needs too. The only problem I have had lately is delay in getting in for an appointment. I think it's due to other shops closing. But I believe they should make it a priority to service established clients before those that have never been. At least leave x# per day for established clients! read more

I have always taken my Yogi dog there to get groomed it is always been done by the same girl. The last time she wasn't there and another groomer took care of him I paid to have top of the line service. When I got home I notice that they had not trimmed his nail the next day he was scooting on the livingroom floor so his anal gland had not been express. Took him to my Vet Dr Carr who trimmed his nails and did the anal express on him. Had to pay for a service that I had already paid to have done. Then today Yogi had a 2pm appointment I called at 4 o'clock was told that Brian was running behind. At 4:30pm I drove up to check on him and Brian is cleaning up and my Yogi has not been done told me to come back at 5pm and he would be ready. Better than I expected considering that we had only one other experience which was awful. We spent just under $50. This is a very good place to take your dog to wash him/her. It cost me $18. They provide towels and you can use the blow dryer after. My dog did not like the loud noise so we skipped that step. The place is clean and the staff is very friendly. If you are doing the do it yourself self service, then you do not need an apt. I am returning here at least 1x a month. read more

We take our French Bulldog and Red Heeler here for grooming a few times a year. Both get bathed and their nails ground down. Our heeler also gets the Furminator treatment to help with her unrelenting shedding. We've been to several different groomers in Arizona and in Texas, including PetSmart. These guys are hands down the best. Pricing is fair, the staff is friendly and the business is super clean. It never smells bad, which is a difficult task when pets are coming in and out all day. We always use the Yelp offer for a free tooth brushing with groom and they have always honored it for both dogs, adding to the value you get here. Was on the road longer than expected, got desperate, and took chance. Got appt for next day. Was very apprehensive. Generally, any one any good is booked weeks out, right? Wrong. Lexi did a fantastic job, and taught me a few things. First, she greeted and soothed my dog Rooster. I watched thru the window for a bit. You know that gut feeling? Rooster was totally fine. So I went next door for the best gelato I've had in ages. After a few hours, I poked my head in. Owner apologized it'll be another 30m. Dude, no apologies necessary. 2.5 hours total time is FANTASTIC. My regular groomer keeps Rooster up to 5 hours. When I came back for Rooster, he looked terrific. Lexi did everything I asked, and then some. He's had persistent ear infections and I've been trying to get our regular groomer to all but remove all the inner ear hair. No joy. Lexi just did it, no fuss. Rooster didn't want to leave. Turns out Lexi's own dog was hanging out in back. Lexi brings her dog out. Surprise! A gorgeous, very fancy, meticulously groomed poodle! Of course. If you want a poodle groom, go to a poodle owner. Probably the most important lesson of the day. Can't recommend Lexi and Animal Clipper highly enough. The only criticism I have would be to make the store name a bit less generic. Both google maps and yelp suck (!!!), making it too hard to find local gems like Animal Clipper. read more

I have been going to Animal Clipper for at least 3 years now. I have been very fussy about my 2 westie dogs being groomed. I was spoiled by the breeder who won best of breed at west minster 2 years in a row grooming. I have been through a-lot with finding a grooming environment that understands the health of the animal is important overall. There are several things I look for in groomers and it is more then the cut cause hair grows. These folks are dog people and focus on that bonding. My guys are really not interested in the pampering and would rather be un-groomed 4 legged mops. They do not shake when entering the building and they cary one dog because of aggression to other dogs. My chip is the shaker and while he does want to leave after visiting everyone he shows no fear by shaking. The owners are incredible business people and I am very grateful with my experience and well being of my fur family. They have had a recent challenge in their business and these events are being investigated. There are two victims in this challenge who remain close; these owners are victims. As a result of this challenge, improvements in security are being made and soon you can even watch your dog as it gets groomed. read more

Animal Clipper lost a loyal customer today. I arrived early to my 8AM appointment and waited in my car outside. At 7:56, I went to the door to ask for two temporary leashes so I could prepare my dogs to take them in. The door was locked but there was a girl sitting behind the counter so I knocked. She... completely ignored me. I was looking right at her and knocked again because I thought maybe she had headphones in. Like surely someone wouldn't just ignore a person in plain sight knocking at the door right? Finally, I realized she was in fact intentionally ignoring me. A few seconds later, the owner, who I've always had great interactions with (you can read a 5 star review we posted a few years ago here), came to the door and I immediately knew there was going to be an issue. The way he approached me was immediately defensive. I asked for two leashes. He gave them to me and I brought my dogs in. I asked why they ignored me when I knocked? The response he gave me was "we don't open until 8AM." I told him I understand, but it was 7:56AM. At best, someone could have at least acknowledged me, even to say that I needed to wait for 4 minutes. I actually would have been totally ok with that. I told him that I have been coming there for years, and he proceeded to tell me that if I had been coming there for years, I "should know they open at 8AM because they wait for all the groomers to get there to get the customer grooming preferences." Actually, I don't know that. It's not my job as a paying customer to know your morning shift policies. By the way, I've never spoken directly to a groomer at drop off. In the middle of me continuing to try to understand why someone would just blatantly ignore me knocking on a door (no attempt towards any sort of apology at this point - why is this complicated), he CUT ME OFF and asked if "I wanted the usual today, would you like the usual today?" Are you serious?? I left my dogs with him and as soon as I reached my car still absolutely dumbfounded, I turned right around to get them. After going to Animal Clipper for close to 3 years, I will never go back again. The owner finally "apologized" for "inconveniening me" but him and I both know it was lip service. I am still in shock at how an owner of a small business could be so disrespectful to anyone, let alone a loyal customer (who didn't get loud or make a scene), and why there was such an immediate pivot to disrespect and condescension. Shame on you, Animal Clipper. The next time you have a nice interaction with the owner (just as I had several times before), know that he's ready to talk down to you the next. The last thing he said to me was "Can I get my leashes back?" read more

We have been faithful client of Animal Clippers long before at their old business, Then the business got sold and there is new owner and new location. We have recommended the Animal Clipper to many of our friends. Thankfully, our friends have younger dogs. We have taken our dog, a quasi miniature schnauzer to Animal Clipper for grooming since 2008... Today, 11/4/2021..we took her for grooming with the same person who had been grooming her all this time. When we picked her up, there is no trace of any Miniature Schnauzer left on our dog. That groomer just massacred her. The groomer just shaved her off and not even very well. Their excuse is, the dog is old and we cannot deal with it. So dear friends, who have dogs, old dogs, stay away from this Animal Clipper. They have no knowledge how the dog breed looks like. They just wanted to take the easy way out. For me if they cannot deal with the dogs, they have at least the courtesy to call the owner before they destroy the look of the dog. And I am not sure what they have done to our dog but she is still traumatized. So beware. We are sorry to have recommended this place. read more

This was my first time taking my 2 dogs to a self service wash, and after my experience, I'll never wash them at home in the backyard again! The customer service was wonderful and they are so friendly. The owner knew it was our first time and he kept checking on us to see if we needed any help, and to provide grooming tips. We also had our toddler with us and they were really friendly with her. The quality of products they use is great too. We used the furminator (sp?) shampoo and it helped a lot with their shedding. They also provide you with brushes to use on your dogs as you wash them and then have a room to dry them. All in all, this was a fantastic experience and we will be back when it's time for another bath! Oh, and our dogs seemed to enjoy it too! read more

We took our golden retriever Cubby here for the first time today and it was the best. We used the self-wash station and his bath went a million times smoother here than at home. The shampoo they have is amazing and his coat is so silky and soft!!!! I have to comment on the customer service though, it's absolutely wonderful. I met Dan, one of the owners, and he was so helpful the entire time I was there. He actually picked up my dog for me to get him in the tub, since Cubby was a little hesitant about getting in at first. And he guided me through everything, even helping with cleaning Cubby's ears.
