Pet planet carries a great selection of products, and the customer service is consistently excellent!

I was excited to find a self-serve dog wash in our neighborhood, fairly close by and at a reasonable price. First couple of visits went fine. Everyone was super friendly, but I noticed that a couple things that were really lacking: adequate towels and a clock inside the washing room. I've mentioned both before during check out. When you're selling dog washes, apparently lots of people want them. This was probably my 5th wash and every time someone gets in line behind me. For someone like me with ADHD no way to measure time passing in a shared space and with soapy hands making me keep my phone in my pocket? No clock is a distinct disadvantage (feel free to interpret that as ABLEIST because you're introducing hurdles that only impact ND folx). Hearing there's someone in line behind you and you've got 15 minutes -- is stressful especially when there's no clock and the towels are barely thicker than a paper towel. It makes the task is exponentially harder to finish quickly. I had to walk to the front when I realized that while she time checked me, the lady working but didn't bother asking if I needed anything and that no more towels were coming. Bit strange having to beg for more towels when she literally commented "gosh, is that a fluffy dog!" as we signed in. Yeah my dog has a double coat which you have acknowledged seeing so I don't know why you're trying to cheap out on the towels? It was actually a safety hazard. There was water everywhere because I could not get enough of his water out of his coat in order to walk him safely from the washing room to the front counter even after the second batch of towels. I mentioned it was unsafe and I wish I'd have gotten more towels when I asked for them, and also that it was difficult to keep moving within their timeframe/to be respectful to the other guest when there's no clock available. The lady working could not have cared any less. She didn't acknowledge my concern just dismissed. "Oh if there wasn't someone waiting behind you, I wouldn't have hurried you." Well no kidding and I wouldn't need a clock if I wasn't trying to be courteous. I could have taken my own time and been in there long enough to get my dog adequately dry. Instead I had my dog dripping water and soaking into my car seats when I left the dog wash. If that's a dog wash is a service that you're prepared to offer, please do it so that people can have a successful experience. Today blew really hard but actually it's the same challenges I've faced before when using their service and today decided I'm not their ideal customer with my expectations. Pet Planet should think about some ways to ensure people want to come back or at least feel they gotten enough of what they paid for to move on with their day. If I knew I'd only get the wash half done I wouldn't have started. A wet husky/malamute is a recipe for a stinky dog and or skin problems from being wet too long. I'm hoping we don't end up with an unexpected vet visit after this. read more

Pet planet is fantastic!! Treats, toys, & pet accessories for days. Tons of great food with awesome staff who can help you find what works for your fur babies. (Food is great quality, the prices will reflect that.) Love the grooming station, so awesome when you have a very dirty pup & would like to bath them in a controlled environment. No appt necessary & they have shampoo & conditioner on deck. They also have a staff member who cuts pup's nails, just call ahead to see if she's working (there is a cost, $10 or $15 if I remember correctly). Recently went in for some dog food & the staff member working was so great with my little one! He asked if she wanted to help him carry the dog food & she was THRILLED. Everything about this place & the staff is great, keep up the good work PP! read more

My two Chihuahuas were out of dog food and this is the place where I always come to get their favorite dog food. The staff is always super helpful. Today I learned that they allow you to bring your dogs in and wash them in the back. They also do nail clippings for your pups. read more

Always a smiling person to greet you as you walk in. Everyone I talk to seem to know a lot. Heather has helped me several times and been a big help. Trying to find a right healthy dog and cat food at a reasonable price is not easy and takes a lot of research. I had no idea how much time it takes and how much there is to learn. read more

Pet Planet College Park - One of our early Xmas favorites w my newest family member, Janey - Pet Services Near Me - Tempe, Arizona

This Pet Planet is my absolute favorite location. On my very first visit I found out that not all Pet Planets are connected, meaning if you've signed up for a rewards program at lets say the Queen Creek location, you would have to sign up for a separate rewards program at this location. The workers were friendlier here and was kind enough to give me a free bag of dog biscuits for our first time visiting. I'll definitely return! read more

We love love love Pet Planet in Tempe. The staff is so friendly, the store is always clean and well organized. I especially love the self bath area.. although my dog feels differently. My first visit was great. It's expensive but I'm all right with that when the prices reflect good quality products. On my second visit I walked in to get my dog a good chew toy. I opened with "my dog is a very heavy chewer." I told them he destroys tennis balls in a matter of days. The toy I was given lasted less than an hour. I didn't expect the toy to last forever, but it seemed obvious to me that it should last longer than a normal tennis ball. Which it did not. I brought it back within 24 hours. With a receipt in hand as proof. I was not expecting a refund but just an exchange for a stronger toy. The employee refused saying it was not a part of their policy. The girl who helped me was new. And I in no way think this is a reflection of her knowledge level. But rather the poor customer service policies of this business. I'll just be taking mine elsewhere read more

I've been shopping at this location for 3 years now and I've always had great service. Today I went to get Sampson my doggie his monthly fix of kibble. I was helped by Ryan and he was helpful and knowledgeable. He recommended a broth for Sampson I'd asked if he knew of a soft kibble due to Sampson not eating all kibble and struggling with chewing it. Sampson loved his kibble today as I added the broth I purchased that Ryan recommended. Thanks Pet Planet and great job on your staffing team! read more

Leave your shampoo & conditioner at home, they supply it for you at NO EXTRA COST! Towels, blow dryer, & even gloves to ensure your pet gets a fantastic wash! This store is hands down the friendliest pet store i've ever been too!! read more

I literally downloaded Yelp to write this review because everyone should hear how amazing these guys are (special shout-out to Jeff and Louisa)! Rewind to a few weeks ago, I had a monster of a vet estimate to contend with after exams revealed both my cat and dog would need dental surgery to extract teeth, alongside an ear infection and some weight issues for my kitty. Vet advised to continue feeding her even less of the $60 bag Z/D, despite her hangry responses, which was when I became alarmed...the teeth, sure, she's older I accept that. But ask yourselves: if you're already feeding an animal the bag's weight band recommendation and they've lost no weight after a year, have coat issues and food aggression...then you're told to give them less? It seemed illogical and I followed my instincts to Pet Planet. Jeff was having NONE of it...he agreed that was not a good idea and recommended a great kibble (Nulo) for my cat that I can say with certainty is a way better fit for her and my purse ($22 vs $60). She's no longer hangry and even has kibble leftover the next day, her coat's improved and she's happier overall. For her ear infection he showed me a $12 bottle of ear cleaner that worked for dogs and cats. She even got samples of other dry food to try and a wet food. For my dog I explained she too was seemingly packing on pounds and had some dandruff, Jeff again gave me samples of Amica to ensure she had a flavour she would like. At checkout they even gave me a little baggy of dog treats and helped me sign up for their rewards programme. FYI, we've since been back since my dog loves the Amica kibble and bought a bag! BUT THEY DIDN'T STOP THERE. After hearing the exorbitant price of tooth extractions for just my cat, Louisa and Jeff gave me a flyer for Dr Kelly who provides discount mobile veterinary services. Fast forward to today. My girls are recovering from their surgeries with Dr Kelly that they had on Wednesday (we managed to snag a cancellation)... the estimate from the vet for my cat (2 teeth) was $2,500. Upon inspection Dr Kelly determined those and two additional teeth needed extraction, a total of $472 including antibiotics/medicines and that her ear infection was gone. For my dog who ended up having some overgrown gum removed and 14 tooth extractions along with multiple days of pain meds and antibiotics, $834. Dr Kelly total: $1,306 Myself and my animals will give our business exclusively to Pet Planet from here on out and continue to share this story. I am fairly certain I've never had such a phenomenal experience. Jeff and Louisa were knowledgable, personable and kind hearted employees who genuinely know shit whilst giving a shit about your pet. Family owned business' do it best! read more

First time at Pet Planet today, and my dog and I hung out for an hour! Cat (or Kat?) was the only one working, but she was so friendly and helpful. She quickly made friends with my fearful and nervous dog, which is not always an easy task. She recommended her favorite products and tips. She helped everyone that came in the store, and wasn't annoyed with my indecisiveness. In fact, she gave me a free 1lb sample of one of their foods to try, so I didn't have to commit to purchasing it right away. I was very appreciative of her help and kindness to me and my dog. The store has quite a bit to look at, with a lot of great products that are harder to find, such as quality CBD products, holistic and allergy friendly foods, high quality and eco friendly toys, etc. I thought their prices were very reasonable, as well. I signed up for their rewards program, which also got me a little goody bag of treats and coupons, including a free wash in their self serve washing station. I love this little store, and will definitely be returning! read more

Excellent service, with reasonably priced, high quality products for your dog or cat. They had some great deals today, such as 30% off Zuke's dog treats (My dogs love these little bites!) and 20% off dog beds. They sell one of the best dog foods out there (In my opinion at least : ) ), The Honest Kitchen in several varieties with prices comparable to Amazon. Will definitely stop by here again if I need anything else for the pups. read more

This is my favorite pet store in AZ, over Pet Club and the other major retailers. The owners are two fabulous women who love animals and the employees are just as awesome. I've only been going to this location for my dog food and treats because they're my favorite branch, always friendly and have everything he needs! Today I got him peanut butter banana ice cream with a treat in the middle! Disneyland for dogs? Absolutely loved this store!! Went the other week and we were greeted by owner Jennifer who gave us a new customer welcome bag, coupons, and we happened to be there on a Friday so we got an extra bag of dog treats. The owner was very knowledgeable about supplies, food, etc., and the prices are excellent! I wasn't sure what prices would be like since it's a locally owned shop, but honestly, I thought their prices were better than the chain stores and it was better quality. This will be our new local doggy need spot!! (By the way, the two terrible reviews written are WAY off base, in my opinion). read more

I had a great experience with getting my nervous rescue dog's nails trimmed. I was a wreck from trying to trim his nails myself and for $12 I didn't hesitate to have Jen do it. I'd pay $12 all day for someone quicker, calmer and more knowledgeable to do it. The staff was helpful, greeted us when we walked in, discussed what I was purchasing with me, and Jen was so kind to Mateo through the stressful process of a nail trim. She explained every step/why she was doing what she was doing and helped me come up with a plan for getting his long quicks to recede. I left with a bag of free treats, coupons, and a happy dog. Not an easy feat after a nail trim. I will be back for sure! read more

I brought my pup here for the first time today just to use the self wash station and I will definitely be back! The self wash station had everything I needed and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. My fur baby suffers from allergies and the staff there gave me more than enough information and tips on how to treat him. The gentleman that helped me was very knowledgeable about the topic and you could tell that he cares about his customers and their furry friends. I'd give 10 stars if possible! read more

I am so grateful to Jen at Pet Planet! My dog has pancreatitis and it's been a struggle for 3 years finding food that doesn't cause a flare up. After months of bloody stool, diarrhea and expensive tests at the vet, we decided to go into pet planet and see if they recommended a specific food for his condition. Jen had answers and info that our vet could or would not even relay! After just a few days our little guy had solid BMs without a trace of blood and his energy and playfulness sky rocketed to something we haven't seen since his diagnosis! It's been over 2 months now since he's been on the food Jen recommended and he hasn't had a single issue! Thank you Jen and the friendly staff at Pet Planet!! read more

I love this place. We washed our dogs in the bath area and it was so quiet and nice. We had a baby gate to keep them in while washing the other one and everything was there for us. I love this place, they have everything you can think of for healthier and more natural dog food/treats/toys/supplies. Plus Jen is amazing and will take time to talk to you about any issues you may be trying to address, and she knows every single product carried in the store. She even knows the ingredients in everything. She helped me when my baby boy had lymphoma, when my baby girl needed tplo surgery, when both had random digestive issues, and so on. This place has been a lifesaver for us, and my reactive baby girl loves it here. I also really love coming here to give the dogs baths because they have everything. Can't say enough good things, but I'll end with the prices, which are good for the quality products we buy . read more

If I could give 10 stars I would !! Jen is the Store Owner she is amazing so knowledgeable. Jen helped me fix my four month old boxers splayed feet. WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE! Never been here before and needed some new dog food since my pup wasn't liking his. My first time at this facility. Staff is VERY friendly and kind. I brought my rescue greyhound, Hermione, and they were very helpful. I definitely recommend this store. We've been twice now and both times the staff have been so welcoming. They literally offer cookies that help my pup be more comfortable. Jen and the staff at Pet Planet are the most kind and caring individuals. They truly care about animals and are a great resource for knowledge of different products to help keep pets at their best. I came in yesterday worried about my pug, and Jen was able to help me troubleshoot the digestive issues my pug was having after having to switch her dog food (because the manufacturer stopped making the one she typically eats). I left having a plan to help my pet and my pug is doing so much better today after following Jen's advice. Thank you so much and I tell everyone about this particular Pet Planet location because of the great supportive staff. We also love the great variety of natural dog chews (no rawhide!), the self service dog wash, and their nail trim service. I walked into to this store and was instantly impressed. A dear friend recommend this specific Pet Planet. Walking into the store , I felt almost like I was walking into an old friends house, instead of a pet supply store . The owner is so friendly, upbeat, and very knowledgeable. She even carried the big bags of dog food I purchased out to my suv, even though I had my son with me. She insisted with a smile. I love meeting people like her, sadly they are very far and few between! I didn't use the dog bathing stations, but I love the fact that it is offered. I definitely would recommend this specific Pet Planet to anybody, above all else. read more

Time limit on using the bathtub? I have always had the best customer service coming here, until today. I buy all my dogs treats here and other necessities. I don't normally give my dog a bath because he goes to his groomer, with COVID-19 shutting pretty much everything down my groomer has closed until May. My dog needed a bath so the first place I thought of was Pet Planet... Everything started off fine, keep in mind I have a 120lb dog so he takes a little longer to wash and especially DRY. I was about 50% done drying him and one of the workers comes by and says "you about done, I have another customer needing to use the bath, take about 5 more minutes." I am a paying customer and waited my turn to use the bath as well. So I did the best I could with drying my dog as I was rushed out of there. If I would of known there was a time limit I wouldn't of used the bath, as I stated I have a large dog and it takes a little longer to wash and dry him.....I won't be returning. read more

Unbelievably negative experience. I stopped buying food here after a staff member became annoyed with me for asking questions about the food he recommended (pulsar) which i later found out is very low quality. But they are still the closest dog was to my house. I had to sign a contract in order to wash my dog with very small print. The contract cites that i am liable for all their equipment. When i asked about it, I was met with immediate anger and defensiveness. When their equipment breaks, they're going to blame it on a poor unsuspecting customer and force them to pay for it, probably several hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Please be careful of this place, they don't care about their customers and they certainly don't care about dogs. read more

Above everything else it's the entire team that keeps me coming back to this store. Each team member has their own amazing personality. Bunnie, Jen, Dizzy, and Ryan are amazing people who make this pet store even better. I've been going to this location for a few years now and it is always the same amazing costumer service experience. This team has seen me at my best and my worst, from FLUTD, a broken growth plate, and all the bumps in between..
