I only used the grooming salon. Our groomer Sage changed locations from Buckeye to here. She is so fantastic that I was willing to to travel an hour to have her groom our golden retreiver. The terrific staff, including Shayna, the new manager, and Arturo, the groomer, embraced our cat and our dog, both of which are quite old and need specialized attention. DO NOT RECOMMEND FOOTHILLS PET RESORT On 9-30-25 I scheduled a grooming appointment for 1:30pm, and at drop off everything was normal. In the past 5-years I've been taking my dog here, I always receive a call when my dog is done. By 5:01pm I had received no call, which is past the normal time, so I called. I tell them I'm calling for an update on my dog's grooming, they tell me she is done. I asked what time she was done (both for my own reference and to ensure she wasn't waiting too long). They weren't sure and put me on hold. The manager answers and says my dog was never actually groomed, apologizes, and says Esther left for the day; but as the manager she'd like to make things right; she asks if she should call Esther to come back in now, to which I declined because my dog was already there for 3.5 hours unattended to, and because they were about to close in less than an hour. She then offers anytime the next day a compensated grooming. I told her that I'd contact my family to ensure what time works for us because I had work the next day but someone else should be able to get her, and that I was on my way to pick up my dog. The manager apologizes more, and then shares some very personal details about our groomer. She said she knows it's not "an excuse" but still felt inclined to betray her team member's trust to lessen the severity of the situation.  After arriving, I'm met by the manager who I had spoken with over the phone. I told her I was the one who called and asked what happened. She said it'd be easier to show me rather than explain, so she walked me through to the back where they take the dogs in. We went down a hallway to two rooms beside each other, with a whiteboard on the hallway wall that listed each groomer's name, and every dog on their schedule was written beneath them. The room to the left had approximately 15 cages, some double stacked and some individual it seemed. The room was small and dirty, and the manager retrieved my dog from one of the cages. She then explained the process of a dog getting "checked in" is when their name is written on the board, after being washed their name gets a checkmark, then crossed off after being groomed. She said my dog was washed by one of the washers and checked off, but then left in the cage until we picked her up. She said for my dog's next grooming they'll give her the "VIP Room" to herself; which is the room to the right that has a couch, bed, tv, and water bowl. After that we return to the front lobby and discuss rescheduling for the next day. That's when we agreed the following morning 11:00am would work. She then emphasizes again the personal business of our groomer and apologizes. I left. Next day 10-1-25, I dropped my dog off at 10:35am (a little early for her appt because I had to go to work). Yet again, I received no communication whatsoever. Right as I'm getting off work, 3:30pm, my sister calls to check in on my dog's status.  The same manager answers, and my sister asks if my dog is ready. To which the manager dryly answers "there's 3 of those dogs that come here, which one?" My sister informs her it's the one who had a poor experience yesterday, and the manager tells her my dog is ready. Shocked, my sister asks her why they didn't call to tell us she was ready. The manager then reiterates her and I's conversation from yesterday and that everything was fixed. Before my sister can explain any further, the manager interjects to say "Listen sir, he's ready". My sister informs the manager that she is a woman and again that my dog is a female. My sister said she didn't know why the manager was being so defensive and hostile, to which the manager responded "well you're yelling at me". My sister repeated she was just calling to see if my dog was ready, and that we were expecting the call when she was done. The manager then flat out LIES, and says I told her NOT to call me when my dog's grooming was complete. I arrived not too long after that phone call. The manager without acknowledging me, gets up and walks to the back to get my dog. When she returns I tell her right away that it's absolutely unacceptable we did not receive a call today and that it's ridiculous how she spoke to my sister on the phone. She then tries to tell me how I asked not to be called and how my sister was rude to her on the phone first. I told her we just talked about this on the phone and in-person yesterday, I made sure it worked with my family so someone would be available for pick up, so she wasn't waiting 3.5 hours again (she was there for 5 hours with no call today). The manager was argumentative from the moment I questioned why I wasn't contacted. She showed no control or poise in her demeanor or speech, so we were literally two people yelling at each other in the lobby when really I should be the only one upset when my dog was forgotten TWICE. read more

I was hoping the negative reviews were flukes so I decided to try them out for my two Maltese/Shih Tzu mixes. Through the website, I made a 10am and 11am appointment on a Saturday and they were nice enough to take both dogs at 10am. 4 hours later, I got the call to pick them up. My credit card payment was processed before my dogs were brought out. They had gone in with 2 collars w tags and 2 flea collars. They were given back to me without the flea collars. When I mentioned this, the girl at the front desk went in the back to search for the flea collars and only came out with one. When I asked the girl at the front desk if the loss of the flea collar would be compensated (flea collars are not cheap), she said yes but she couldn't process it herself. She said her manager, Susan, would give me a call within the hour. I had also asked for Susan's phone number. Instead, of hearing from Susan, the girl at the front desk called me back to inform me Susan would call me on Monday regarding the compensation. It is now Monday evening with no calls from this place. I've called several times for it to go to voice mail. I have also called Susan's phone number with the same results. Side note, when I got home w my dogs, I noticed their cuts were very uneven and both dogs were nicked on a part of their bodies, which they wouldn't stop licking ball through the weekend. So the grooming job was done poorly and my dogs were not returned w all the original items on their bodies. That's just unprofessional. read more

Absent management and inexperienced staff. I tried to take my dog in for daycare today, and use a package of sessions that I had purchased under the prior management. I was told that the records indicated that I had no remaining daycare sessions and the information was scrubbed from the system. Based on my own record keeping, I should still have two visits available. I asked for some type of reconciliation to show the dates that I had used, but they could not provide it. So instead of giving me the benefit of the doubt, or trying to figure out the discrepancy, the default is essentially 'the customer is wrong'. Next, I asked to speak to a manager and the individual at the front desk said that they could make a note. My preference would have been to speak with someone in person, and I asked what time the manager would be on site. The response... "they're out of town for a week, so you can try back then". I miss the prior ownership. They were wonderful. The new owners seem disconnected. read more

The front check-in area is very dirty. I get that the fur goes everywhere but they don't do enough to keep it clean. Looks like they last mopped the floor a month ago. Dropped my dogs off at 1:30pm and they weren't ready until 5:50pm. I won't be using this spot again. Wish it was better, because it's close to my house. read more

Peggy and her staff are really amazing. Our furry loved one always comes home happy and clean. Her birthday was during her staycation and they even put her in a little Halloween hat and took photos to send to us, which meant a lot! My mom has been taking her dogs here for over 20 years. The last time she took her dog for a grooming with Arturo, she noticed an injury to his face when she got home. She called them and asked for an explanation and was upset that no one mentioned anything about it to her when she picked him up. They said it must've happened at home and not their facility, which made her even more upset that they wouldn't take responsibility as it clearly happened during the grooming. She had to take her dog to an emergency vet and now he is on antibiotics and has had multiple follow up appointments with the vet. They wouldn't pay for the initial $300 vet appointment until my mom reached out to the corporate company and stated she would pursue small claims court, plus they never apologized about the situation. My mom has had a great experience for the last 20 years with them, but the new management has made this place unsafe and unprofessional. She will not be returning for any more services, and would not recommend taking any of your pets here. It's understandable that mistakes can happen every once in a while- but to not be upfront about it or take any ownership, accuse her of causing it, and having poor customer service throughout the situation is not acceptable. read more

So this month I called and left a message because nobody answer to try and get an appointment for my dog and they never called me back. This is the most I've ever paid for my pup's grooming at it was a disaster. Completely uneven, looks like another breed. I told them explicitly that I did not want a standard poodle look as my dog is just not a standard poodle, but that's exactly what he ended up looking like. This is absolutely, 100%, the BEST pet resort and grooming center in all of my years of having Airedales. My rambunctious 'dales are very excitable whether it be due to noise, other pups, being boarded, and groomed. However, the staff at Foothills Pet Resort are very knowledgeable and loving when it comes to each dog's personality. They are extremely kind, caring and attentive. My four year old Boxer and nine year old Treeing Walker Coonhound both loved their recent weekend stay at Foothills Pet Resort! I had previously boarded them in locations in Scottsdale and North Phoenix and wanted an option closer to our apartment in Ahwatukee. The reviews for Foothills Pet Resort were great and my wife and I decided to board them here during our long weekend in San Diego. The facility was very nice and clean and I loved that they had TV screens in the main entrance showing the dogs in the play rooms. It was also awesome to find out that Foothills Pet Resort does not charge you extra to have family playtimes instead of group playtime. Having two pickup times (AM and PM) on Sunday was another added bonus. All of the other boarding options I have looked into in the area only do AM. Having the PM pickup time allows for some extra flexibility when it comes too travel. Finally, their groomers did amazing work on both of my dogs. The Coonhound sheds year round and after a bath here he didn't shed for four days. He has never had a bath that thorough. I feel better going away for a few days knowing my dogs can stay here. read more

New ownership, new review and a new update. Really disappointed. We have been sending our dog to foothills for 4 years, and hoped to get the same level of service as before. So let's talk about the pros, the cons and the changes. The price went up, didn't include a bath after 10 days of boarding- this used to be included after about 5 days. Staff seem super disorganized and honestly we felt as if they did not have the experience to run a daycare/ boarding facility- it's as if they brought the place and are just clueless. We also received a call after they ran out of food after it was pre measured for every day our dog was there. I will give them points in the fact they did choose to try and make it right. They also added an extra toy. Also, whilst trying to book the phone was unresponsive, or if you did get an answer the response was "I don't know, call back later" So to conclude we will be looking at other options at this present time. Will we be back? Honestly not sure, she normally comes back exhausted after getting played with 5 times a day but it seems here that is not the case- my pup came back with a ton of energy. I heard no dog's barking outside as well. Also to follow up. She had ice cream poop for days. So it make me second guess if they actually did correct the food fault issue. read more

Love this place! I'm shocked I haven't left a review yet. I took my now heavenly dog there for so many years. Probably around 10 years or more I've been a customer. They have great boarding and grooming. Peggy is the nicest lady. Everybody that works there is very nice and loves dogs. They have spaces for big dogs and little dogs; they have fun playground equipment for dogs outside and space for them to have fun indoors as well. Also, they have a points reward system. Within our first conversation, tour by Peggy, and overall vibe of this location, we knew we chose the right place. Every day we called to check in on our dogs and the employees were very friendly and knew exactly which one of our dogs we were talking about. They eased our worry with every phone call. When it came time to pick up our pups, both dogs were happy, clean, and the transition from picking them up to taking them home was as if we never left! They were so happy! BEWARE: POSITIVE REVIEWS ARE FROM PREVIOUS OWNERSHIP! After boarding my dogs with FPR for years, I will be finding another facility. I boarded my dogs for the weekend, complete with a bath prior to pickup. When I got home, I found one of my dogs has a massive infection brewing in his pubic area. No mention of this was made to me by the staff. When I called FPR regarding my dogs infection, the receptionist was initially unaware, then placed me on hold, and when she returned she told me the groomer noted a scab during his bath, but no one felt it was severe enough to communicate with me. I sent FPR a photo of his infection and fortunately i was on the phone with the receptionist when she opened my email. I heard an audible gasp, and she said, "Oh wow," and that the groomer had shown her a DIFFERENT photo. I was informed that the owner was not on site but would be later that day. I have yet to hear from the owner. In contrast, previous ownership has contacted me immediately if they noticed anything! I started to comb through reviews on here and have noticed that they are all terrible around the end of 2022 when new ownership presumably took over. I also found the cameras were not on in the lobby when I arrived to pick up my dogs. The lobby was also inexplicably hot, humid, and smelly. read more

As well I have had a friend who is taking their dog and they got kennel cough and I have neighbors that their dogs have gotten sick by taking them there. I want to share my experience today with Foothills Pet Resort- Ahwatukee. I had made an online appt for Chaser to get a bath at this place. I specifically said that we only wanted the bath & nail trim. Absolutely no cut because his coat isn't ready for that. I dropped him off at noon and let them know again no cutting and that this was our first experience at a groomers. They said he'd be ready at 2pm, I let them know I would be there about 2:30 after I pick up my daughter from school. We arrived and waited our turn to get our puppy. They brought out a larger Golden doodle puppy with no white on his chest, along with my dogs collar. I said- this isn't my dog, They then go back to find my dog. I can see the camera in the lobby and can tell instantly that something isn't right. They were talking back there for a few minutes on camera. He comes out and goes straight to the front desk computer. I follow him and ask him where my puppy was. He really didn't answer directly, I start getting upset and asking where is my dog. He wasn't quite sure but thinks Chaser was given to another family earlier. He had to pull up pictures to try and figure out where he was. He calls the other family and I wait extremely upset that my dog is no longer on their property. I ask to speak to the owner and I'm told that info is never given out. They told me this "rarely" happens. Rarely? No one from this place has even called to apologize or reach out in anyway. Not only did they send my baby home with another family, they also trimmed all his face hair off. I'm beyond livid. Please...research this place before you send your pets there. read more

I had my dog groomed on Saturday afternoon and I didn't put a preference of groomer and assumed that any groom would do a good job. When we went to pick up our dog she was so excited and jumping around that I didn't get a good look at her haircut and when asked I said she look good (she needed a haircut so just seeing her hair shorter looked good to me). It's wasn't until we got home that I really saw how horrible her haircut was. It looks like a child cut her hair, it is so incredibly choppy and does not at all look like a professional did it. I don't think we will be returning - especially since the gentleman at the front desk said "he's one of their best groomers" about the man who cut our dogs hair. read more

They butchered my dog's hair, there is no defending this cut. Let me start off with the scheduling mishap. My husband had set the appointment, and on the morning of I had called to confirm the time and spoke with Peggy. Apparently she wasn't entered into the system correctly so the appointment never was truly made. Peggy felt bad but offered to have me bring her in anyway that day and give her a complimentary bath and blow out. I thought that was really kind of her to do, and they did a great job on that. I was very pleased so I went ahead and booked her for a full groom a few days later. Now for the actual full groom. It is awful and my dog is unrecognizable. They took almost 5 hours! I dropped her off a few minutes past 12pm and they let me know they were pretty swamped that day and that it would take a little longer than normal. I said ok, no worries I've got errands to run. Any groomer I've ever taken her to has never taken longer than 2 hours, so I was thinking around 3 hours no big deal. Chase was going to groom her so she came out and we let her know what we wanted. She showed us a sample of lengths and I told her that I still wanted to keep her long, but more manageable since she's now 1 and her adult coat is coming in thick, and also that I needed something that my husband could manage since I was going to be gone a lot for work over November. Chase said that she would be much longer than what the samples showed. As for her face, I asked to clean up around her eyes, trim her beard a little, and keep her ears short. 330pm rolls around and I call asking when she will be ready. Peggy said that possibly another 45 min... at this point I'm a bit upset because this is putting us over 4 hours. I decide to drive there and just wait. At 445pm they finally call to tell me she's ready. I walk in and Peggy apologizes for the amount of time it took but said if I wanted it to be quicker then to drop her off earlier in the morning and that she was the last appointment of the day so it always takes the longest. If I would've known it was going to take this long, I would have paid extra to keep her in the daycare so she could've played with other dogs, or they could have let me know hey we won't work on your dog till probably around 3pm, I would've have gladly dropped her off then. Chase brought her out and I was in shock. She basically just shaved her all over. She asked how I liked it and I said wow she's really really short.... I could tell she knew I wasn't pleased and told me in about a week it'll look better. At this point I just wanted to get out of there so I paid and left very very disappointed. The type of cut they gave her should only be cut like this in two instances. If the owner asks for basically a summer cut, or if the dog is heavily matted. Neither were the case. I paid to have a service done where my dog comes out looking great, not to be told she'll look ok in another week. My poor dog basically went into hiding the rest of the day. Very unsatisfied and I will never be taking her here ever again. read more

We have been using this location since we moved here (almost 7 years) and were very pleased with them. But most recently, we dropped off our 6 month old puppy. When we picked her up, she smelled of urine and it was on her fur. When we got her home, she went to the bathroom like she hadn't gone in a day. If I could give this place a 0 I most definitely would. I would never recommend this place for anyone to ever leave your pup here. They never answer the phone but state you can always call to check up on your pup. In addition to that, I dropped my pup off for a boarding and I did not pick him up the same way I dropped him off. Foothills Pet Resort are awesome! We board our corgi puppy with them when needed and they are always very helpful and accommodating. I remember the first time we boarded our baby, we were nervous and anxious just like any other parent. I was one of those pawrents that would call twice a day to check up on the furbaby. They were kind and answered my questions patiently. They gave us the assurance we needed. Their staff are friendly, you are able to make online reservations for boarding, and their facility is clean. Dogs are separated into the play areas according to their sizes and would also monitor how well dogs socialize with each other. It's a whole day play day so the dogs only go into their kennel or suite when it is bed time. You are able to bring personal stuff for your baby, like their own food, their bed, blankie, etc. I believe they can also provide their own food at additional charge. Thank you, Foothills Pet Resort for taking great care of our baby. He is always excited to visit and stay with you guys, he comes home happy and that means a lot to us. I went to drop off my dog for boarding at 830 am as we were trying to leave to go out of town. There is a sign on the door they don't have anyone working in the lobby so you are to call the phone number or use the walkie talkie hanging on the door. The walkie talkie doesn't work, I called the phone number numerous times no one answered. I only got lucky that someone came to the door bc the person working there ordered door dash. I waited for 25 minutes so stressed out. When the person finally answered she seemed like she had no clue what was going on, almost as if she could have cared less. Absolutely zero customer service skills. When I picked up my dog from boarding. I let the girl at the desk know and she said they couldn't find the cordless phone but that's been taken care of. Not I'm sorry how can I make this right. The new owners are disconnected. They know nothing about customer service. It's very sad for us, we've been going to the foothills pet resort for 14 years. But now we will be making a change. I suggest others do the same. These people do not care if they have your business or not. read more

The staff was so friendly and attentive to my little fur baby! I dropped him off at 10am for his appointment and he was ready by noon for pick up. Haircut was just what I wanted and they even put a cute little bandana on his neck which is the first time I have gotten that in AZ. We just moved to Ahwatukee and can check this off the list of new providers. They also offer boarding and daycare which we will be signing up for in the future.
