Picked up our dog this week after a 6 day stay and they neglected to tell us she had diarrhea and was ill while In their care. Took her to the vet within 24 hours and she had a fever, diarrhea, vomiting, and blood coming out of her nose..$3500 later and she has pneumonia and is very ill and in the animal hospital. When i called the business they apologized that they forgot to tell us her tummy was upset. This is way more than a stomach ache and they should have informed us right away. Take your dog elsewhere. *update: she has now passed over the rainbow bridge. Called the facility to let them know and they informed me the owner won't be in until next week. No apologizing, nothing. read more

I just stopped in (Friday morning around 8:30am) and as I was already a little anxious as I have never needed to board a dog of mine, the lady at the front desk had zero personality with me. She didn't offer any help or advice, didn't offer a tour, didn't give me any information, no smile & bragged how busy they always are. She seemed so annoyed with me during our 3 minute interaction that I even asked "did I come at a bad time?" And she "responded "were always busy" (as I'm the only POTENTIAL customer in the lobby) Definitely felt like she didn't need or want any new business. I even told her I wasn't really sure how this works, that I've never boarded a pup and she just made sure to tell me how they're booked up thru thanksgiving.... She did ask if my pup had been in play situations and I asked "like a dog park?" and she looked at me like I'm an idiot so I quickly say "yes, she's been in two sessions of puppy school with other pups and been to the dog park" (and she's spayed and fully vaxed which we didn't even get that far) I said I was hoping to do a daycare day to get her acclimated and the lady again mentioned how busy they are. I am extremely upset that this is my FIRST impression EVER of what a boarding facility is like. I am now terrified especially because I ONLY went to this one because it's a mile from our home and their reviews are great.. Must have to be a "regular" here to get treated like one.. HORRIBLE experience & I'm hoping the next place I stop by is good enough for my sweet 9 month old lab.. And if anyone is reading this, Imk if any other places that you'd recommend where the initial human interaction is worth allowing these people to watch my puppy. I'm so disappointed. read more

I was very excited that I found this place in Chandler. I live in Los Angeles and was planning a trip out to Arizona where I would need dog care. I called to confirm whether or not my dog needed to do a meet and greet session before a daycare day and more importantly to let them know that my dog has an autoimmune disease and cannot be vaccinated at this time (he has all his puppy shots etc.). I shared that it is written in his medical report from his doctor that I can provide to them as I've provided to every other doggy daycare he's ever been to. The associate yea that's fine but I'll just confirm fir you. She put me on hold and went to ask another associate. She came back to say yup! As long as you've got that letter you are good to go. I sent her all the intake paperwork, the vet records and booked my trip. Now 2 days before my trip I receive an email saying they can't take my dog. I said well do I need to provide something additional? "Nope, he has to be up to date on every vaccine". Well that's never happening because my dog has ended up in the ER from vaccination. So upsetting!!. Now with 2 days I have to figure out alternative plans and lose money on my trip because of their changing directives on a very significant topic. Ridiculous. read more

We used to love this kennel when Renee owned it. I am a regular and tried to get my 8 yr old boxer in for a stay because she loved it there and was turned away. Never had that problem as Renee always was welcoming and loved my pup. Now we are in a bind with last minute travel plans and no one to watch our baby. Hmmmm. Since the post was submitted, the owner reached out to my husband and I directly. Her honesty and sincerity came through in her apology, and she was shocked by what she read. The day the incident happened the owner was there and had inspected Redford's paw. Her team had cleaned and disinfected it and made sure the bleeding had stopped. The owner was unaware of what happened once Redford had been picked up for the day. Out of this, the owner discussed this situation with her team and lack of communication that happened that day. She also offered and paid for Redford's vet bill. Because of the owner's follow up and caring, I wanted to update the review. Unsure of my feelings for this place. The resort is in great condition, workers were very pleasing, easy, and kind to talk to. I understand owners must sign a waiver dropping their dog off about common illnesses and injury, but I have started to notice an increasing sickness and lethargy of my dog since the day of pick up. The day upon pick up her eyes have had a green/yellow discharge, and both eyes have gotten progressively swollen and red. She has had a runny nose with discharge, extreme lethargy, and fatigue. She has scratches and scabs around her neck, ears, and lower abdominal area from the visi. It is understandable that dogs may get sick at any kennel, but she has been vaccinated and I'm unsure of other dogs' vaccinations. Update**** I had to take my dog to the ER with a temp of 106. She started having no control over her bladder movements, diarrhea, could not stand due to weakness, and head tremors. My vet got her temp down. But still frustrated she could have gotten something this severe from a kennel/resort. Always ask and make sure other dogs are vaccinated, and not sick. read more

Short version: Excellent, would use again! Long version: I have never used pet boarding before, I was always able to rope a family member into taking care of our dog. This time, though, we have a rambunctious 5 mo. old puppy who is just too much for my mother-in-law. I did some research and found Heartstrings on Yelp with great reviews. I took a tour of the facility and was very pleased with the cleanliness and the staff. I liked the fact that the boarded dogs were given time in the play yard (supervised) every day and that they posted the dog pictures on Facebook. Our rambunctious puppy is also very fearful and nervous around new people and situations. I was worried how she would do. I called the resort a couple days into her stay and they said she was shy at first but had started to come out of her shell and was enjoying her time with the other dogs. One thing I really appreciate is they understood that our pup was shy and they worked to put her with other dogs who were well suited for her temperament so she didn't get traumatized by the other dogs. I would definitely use Heartstrings again for boarding and we will also be using their daycare services as well. read more

My wife and i absolutely LOVE taking our dogs here! The owner and staff go out of their way to help with anything they can. Our dogs come after a day there and are just spent from playing all day. They have separate quarters for small/medium dogs, and one for large dogs. The place is air conditioned of course, with water available at all times. They bake fresh cookies daily. Overall, there's no better place to bring your dogs. Whether it be a half day, full day or even extended stay, there's nowhere else better! read more

When we got our puppy last year we knew we were going to have to find somewhere to take him to board as we like to travel quite a bit. I visited about 10 places, and was starting to think that I was not going to find a place that I was comfortable leaving him at, until I happened upon HeartStrings. It was the first facility that I walked into that smelled clean and fresh, and not like there were 20+ dogs there (which there was!). I decided I would get my pup slowly accustomed to HeartStrings by dropping him off for a couple of hours a day, once or twice a week, until we both felt comfortable. Well, it didn't take long before he was, literally, trying to jump out of the car the minute we pulled up in front of the building! This helped to solidify that I had made the right choice. For the last 6 months I have been dropping him off once a week, just to play, and have boarded him at least 5-6 times while we have travelled, and never has his joy at being there waivered. He truly loves going to HeartStrings, and I could not be happier having found a home a way from home for him! I do not know what we would do without HeartStrings and the excellent care they take care of my dog! read more

My husband and I knew we were going to need to find a place to eventually board our puppy. We went to a few places and Heart Strings seemed to be the perfect place. We didnt want to just take him there to board so we decided to do day care 2 times a weeks to get use to it but also learn to play with other dogs. We have boarded our dog at Heartstrings on several occasions. When we arrive, our puppy is always elated and when we pick her up she is still loving the staff. However, their incredible attention to detail is amazing. The place is immaculate and they always remember our dog! On top of that.. we suggested they allow people to book reservations online. I never ever ever leave reviews of places on Yelp but I cannot let another person be in my situation if my experience with this place can help it. We were supposed to leave on vacation today and our old boarding place closed down due to Covid, so we were going to try this place because of its good reviews. I went there 2 times before our reserved boarding date, one to check out the place, secondly to hand in our paperwork and make sure that everything was in order. I explained to each person I talked with, even once the initial booking time over the phone, and let them know I have a very big dog and to make sure they take his breed, he's an English mastiff. I told them, wrote down in their paperwork and spoke with the owner explaining that he is anxious only at handoff, and yes he will bark aggressively at handoff, but that he has never bitten anyone, he's been boarded over 10 times at two other places with no issues, and that once he gets back to his area he is very nice. The staff usually gush over him, telling us how sweet he is. He plays great with other dogs in playrooms, we've never once had any bad reports. Well today my husband goes to drop him off before we leave for our flight out of town and he's anxious at handoff, barks/growls at the reception person, and they refuse to take him. If they are unable to work with dogs with anxiety at handoff they should have required me to bring him in for an evaluation to see if they would accept him. How do you leave people who have been booked with you for a month in this situation. read more

My dogs LOVE HeartStrings! I started taking them for Doggie Daycare and the first day I was like a new mom dropping her 1st born off at kindergarten. Rene reassured me that calling to check in was ok, and I did. She let me know what my dogs were up to and that they started to come out of their shell within the first few hours. By the end of the day, they had made lots of friends, and were super excited to go back the 2nd day. I love seeing her pictures on Facebook of the dogs daily, lets me know I made the right decision. I'm a new dog/puppy owner. The staff at HeartStrings are amazing. They are always happy to see me and my dog and treat us with kindness and in a loving way. I have dropped by on several occasions to see my girl interacting with other dogs. That's why my girl goes to PuppyCare 2 days a week. She is so happy going in the door. I am new to Chandler and I found the Very Best doggie day care and boarding. I have a 9 mo old Golden Retriever who has been coming to Heartstrings 2-3 x a week for day care ever since he completed all his required vaccinations. I take him for half days. He has many, many doggie friends, as well as staff friends. He is always well taken care of. I have had no problems here. By the time I turn left onto Riggs he is doing cartwheels in the backseat bcuz he knows where is headed! He is excited to get there. When he comes home from 1/2 day he is pretty worn out, which is good for a Golden Retriever. A little play time at home, dinner and then call it a night! Ah...zzzzzz's for everybody. I especially like that the dogs are closely monitored and recorded. My pup will be staying with all his friends at Heartstrings while we vacation this summer, and I will be assured he is in GOOD HANDS! read more

I tried working here for a week and it wasn't a fit for me. But, being on the inside allowed me to see how fantastic this place is for pets to come and have a great time. They exceed is every field for caring for you loved pets. The cleanliness is outstanding! If a dog goes the bathroom, it's picked up instantly rather then it sitting there till someone comes around to it. Your pets are supervised 100% and there is no tolerance for neglect, laziness or attitude. Every dog has equal share of cuddles and care. Even though this employment wasn't a good fit for me, I absolutely would only bring my dog here to be boarded or for daycare. Whole staff is fantastic and genuinely care for your animals. read more

I am so sad to be leaving this review for Heartstrings. We have been with Heartstrings since it opened with Rene. We just boarded our three dogs for 7day stay for the first time since new ownership took over in Nov 2022. Two of our dogs are seniors and one is a 7month puppy. One of our senior dogs had two medications that he needed to be given, one a liver supplement and the other a antibiotic because he had dental surgery two weeks prior and needed for inflammation. When I picked up the fur babies and went through their things at home, his antibiotics were never given to him. I called immediately left a message and called back again because i was so worried and spoke to Jacklyn the new owner. I brought to her attention the medication and she immediately placed blamed on her staff. She even asked me what was the blue pill for and I said that's his liver supplement which led me to believe she was the one distributing meds. These are two very important medications for his health and you failed to give him one of them. Second big thing I told her was that i had portioned out their food for the entire stay and was given back at least 2.5days worth of food, and when I brought that to her attention she said well they weren't eating so we kept the food for the next day. My poor babies were so hungry when I got them home, This would have never happened under Rene's watch, she would have made sure they ate. I also had treats for each of them in little bags to be given at those also were never given to them and returned untouched. The conversation with the new owner was frustrating as she had a very condescending tone. The very last thing, I asked her why there was an additional $29 charge on top of the 7nights and she said they starting charging a credit card surcharge. I told her I was never told that and she said well there is a sign next to the card station, I can show you next time if you want to see where it is. She is not a very pleasant person to deal with and i will not be taking my dogs back there ever again, my youngest pup is also sick and has nasal discharge and he was completely fine when i took him there. In all of our times boarding our dogs with Rene previous owner none of these things ever happened she truly care about our pups and that's why you see such great reviews. Be careful with your fur babies it's not the same anymore under this new owner. read more

I really wanted my baby to go to doggy daycare and play with other furry friends. I was very nervous to leave Tyke with strangers and not be there to keep him safe. I searched and searched, read plenty of reviews and finally decided on Heart Strings. I took Tyke to Heart Strings and felt very comfortable with Rene (the owner) and the rest of the staff. I stayed and watched Tyke do his meet and greet slowly until he finally went out to play with others his size. Seeing this literally made all my worries go out the door. After Tyke did his meet and greet, Rene showed me around where Dogs stay if they are boarded. There's even an suite with a tv, it resembles a regular room...I might need to check myself in. The owner is amazing and has such a HUGE heart for animals! I recently learned is that she is involved with rescue dogs and that's really special! The staff that works there is awesome, you can see all the dogs love having them around! Tykes been going to Heart Strings for about 5 months now and each time we pull into the parking lot that tail is spinning so fast I'm surprised he hasn't flown in yet. read more
