I feel that Born To Run is an excellent place for your furry pet as long as they don't bark a lot. Lots of room for the dogs to roam, very friendly staff, and many goodies and treats. My pet was a actually given a banana split treat! Unfortunately my girl greets people with barks and talks a lot so I get the concern they might've had regarding noise ordinances in their neighborhood. This place is a wonderful place for the fur person in your life whether you just want daycare or boarding - --they can meet all of your needs. The location is clean and has acreage with trees for your dog (s) to run and play. They have doggie pools of cool water and they have cold snacks during the hotter days. They also pay attention to your dogs health by making sure that they are given any special dietary needs that you provide. The dogs are supervised at all times and they have restrictions on breeds allowed in the facility to maintain the safety of the dogs. The staff all really love dogs and give a lot of love to the dogs in their care. read more

So we and our pup are in love with Born to Run! Kim and her team are a caring, wonderful group of people and you can tell they love what they do! We chose this place for our puppy because they are outside most of the day and that's really what dogs want! They do go in for "naptime" and are kenneled during that time but it's only for 1.5 hours and trust me, after over four hours of solid playtime in the morning, our dog and I would suspect the others as well are ready for some down-time! They are back outside in the afternoon. And the activities they have for the dogs are amazing. We even got a fun doggy-made ornament for our Christmas tree! They make a big deal out of birthdays and the dogs are just so well cared for! We did visit a couple of other places before enrolling here and the thing that sold us was the fact that they are outside for most of their day! Love this place!!! read more

Our late fur baby, Toby absolutely loved it at Born to Run! We typically would board anywhere from 2 days to 1 week when traveling. They took great care of him over the 6 years he attended. Toby passed away last March. We adopted a new fur baby, who just turned 1 years old. He's already boarded at BTR several times and he also loves it. First the management and Care team could not be better they are excellent with the dogs at are very customer oriented Their selection process is outstanding and I don't know how they do it but our pup loves the place and staff and is excited anytime we get near. I love this place- what an amazing job the owner has done with the concept and hiring of the staff. Each of the staff members that I have met are amazing, remembering my dog's name when we come into the office. During day care, the dogs run free in their large fenced yard from 7-11:30am, they have nap time indoors from 11:30-1:30 and then have more playtime from 1:30-6. When outdoors, they have employees with them at all times, have pools set up on hot days, and have plenty of toys. Before each dog attends they have an introduction day, where the dog is put in the yard and the other dogs are let outside one by one to assure no aggression from the new dogs. I love this concept because it's issues like that (along with the presence of irresponsible dog owners) that can sometimes make public dog parks unsafe. read more

Unless this is under new ownership, I would absolutely not recommend it. Twelve years ago we took our dog there and she was bit by a dog who was ball aggressive. I recognize these things happen, but how they handled it afterwards was unacceptable. They denied it happened there and refused to pay for the vet visit that followed. Denied it, even though we found the bite before leaving the facility, even though there was dried blood on her sheet and there were notes in her record stating she was involved in an incident with a dog who was ball aggressive. Good idea, poor execution. I took my dog here a few times. She came home with a infected dirty gash on her ear which they "forgot" to tell me about when I picked her up. I called them and they told me that she had been in a fight, but they cleaned her ear. Apparently not! We have been bringing our dog Brody here for the past year and a half and have nothing but positive things to say about Born to Run. My dog goes crazy when I load her bed into the truck as she knows what is coming next. The staff has always been super friendly and treats my dog as if it was their own. I took a tour of the facility once and it is a dream park for dogs. Big yard with dogs running around playing everywhere (to a limited number of course!) The kennel room has a kennel for every dog and limited to space so there won't be 75 dogs crammed in. What I like is before you can board your dog it has to be evaluated to ensure all the dogs there get along. The steps are an evaluation, then one day of day care and then you can board your dog overnight. To me that is a smart way to ensure a vicious dog doesn't send your dog to the Vet. Thanks Born to Run knowing my dog is probably having a better time than I am on vacation. LOL read more

This place is amazing. I have taken my dog previously to Pete and Macs and will never go back. After going to Born To Run I would have to say my dog is treated like a family member, the owner Kim knows every dog by first name and treats them like her own. Whenever I bring Kobe here for day care he comes home sooo tired and I actually get to rest at night without him being all over the place. I would highly recommend Born To Run to anyone out in the Gilbert area of Arizona, I have found each day that my dog has gone there amazing. The first time I went there to bring Kobe, I felt like a bad dog dad leaving him alone ( I felt like a dad dropping off there kid at day care for the first time), but now he goes 2 times a week and I feel like such a good dog dad knowing my dog is in the best care possible with amazing caring people playing with him and other dogs. If you have a very active dog, there's plenty of objects your dog to get hurt by....I believe mine was cut by a screw sticking out of the picnic tables (according to the vet's best guess). Hard to tell because there's not enough staff for the amount of dogs that are there. I am sorry to say I had two troubling experiences with Born to Run back to back. I have never been treated or talked to as a customer the way I was treated by Kim, the owner. As other reviews mention we also arrived to find our 7 month old puppy with an unexplained gash over her eye that required a vet visit. We were told by the owner she had just noticed it and had no idea where it came from. Treating it like a one-time incident, and despite my instincts telling me otherwise, we returned again and upon arriving with my two young daughters in tow I was lectured by her staff member, who later apologized, and then was rudely treated by Kim about our schedule changes. She was forceful and rude and it also became apparent that they are short-staffed and don't have the proper number of people to watch the dogs and manage the business. They operate using paper without a formal registration system and no technology to track reservations or assist with avoiding scheduling hiccups. Customer service is part of the job and business and that includes the dog and dog's owners. We will not be returning. read more

okay so I take my two dogs here and they really seem to enjoy it. In all honesty it is a great place for them to interact with other dogs and get out of the house and run all day. That is why I give them a one star. Both my dogs have been injured since going there. Now as a dog owner I know that dogs will be dogs and sometimes around other dogs there are things that happen. I understand that...what I don't understand is that when my one dog got hurt a few weeks back they told me when I cam to pick him up that they didn't know how it happened but he has a little scrape and not to worry they bandaged it up. they also said that he probably did not need to go to the vet. WELL...300 dollars later after the vet visit my dog had a torn pad. I did not have a problem with him having a torn pad..the problem I had was that they minimized his injury and pretended like nothing happened. So, since this happened I gave them the benefit of the doubt and took my dogs back there the next week. WELL..guess what..when I went to pick them up they said that my other dog had a scratch or cut under his leg and it was no big deal. I asked them what had happened and they said they didn't know, but we cleaned it up and its nothing to worry about. I asked if I should take him to the vet and once again they said no..its no big deal....WELL.. when I got home I looked at this little cut and it was more like a gaping hole down into his flesh oozing blood..obviously it looked like another dog had bitten him. So off to the vet we go and another 300 dollars later...he also had a ripped pad.. and the vet said that he could se where another dog had bit him because there are teeth mark in the flesh...so two visits to this place and 600 dollars later I am a little bit disenchanted by the people who work here. I kind of sense that they weren't being honest with me with what actually happened. It's very frustrating...my dogs love going there, but It's probably safe to say that they won't be going back. I just think that the people working there could be a little more honest and not minimize what happened. this is the only problem I have with this place..other than that it appears to be a great facility that the dogs can roam in..I just wished that they could be more honest when stuff happens. read more

I have been taking my baby boxer here for several months. Always had a great experience. Except the owner Kim. Kinda weird. And recently had incidents that further underscored this thinking. I had an emergency. my child was nearly killed in a motorcycle accident. I had to rush to Boston to see my son. Since my dog had boarded there already she was familiar with the environment. I explained to them what happened and they agreed to take her. Well, I had people here monitoring the situation and picking up and returning my dog so she could have time at home as well as in boarding. I was paid up until I dropped her, and figured I was in constant communication with them and would pay as soon as I returned. it was a total of 4 days and two days. The whole time I am in Boston they are ringing up my phone concerned about payment. Mind you I had already spent over a thousand dollars in previous doggy daycare with them. So obviously I can pay. I told them I would call them back to pay for the initial two days. Because i wasn't sure how long I would be gone. I paid in full. Then I start noticing my credit card being charged without permission. Three more times. I found this out because my bank contacted me, asking how I could be charging in Boston and in Gilbert at the same time. I said I wasn't? So I contacted Kim and she explained that they had simply decided to charge my card. Aren't you supposed to get permission from someone when you use their credit card? Again very weird. We talked about it and I moved on. Then I get a message from Kim late at night on text while I am still in Boston, telling me that she has taken my dog to the vet, not for any emergency, but because i had expressed a concern before I left that she may have ticks on her property. One came home on my child's leg, and one was seen on my other dog, after he met up with my puppy when she got home from Born to Run. So Kim literally took my dog in her car with no permission at all given, drove to the vet for a non emergency matter, had blood drawn from my pet without any consent from me as there was no medical emergency and ran a tick panel to "prove" to me that she did not have ticks. It was a bizarre and strange and illegal move. Who does that? The only permission I gave was for my dog to be taken to a vet only in the event of an emergency. But Kim's ego wanted to prove me wrong. I work in medicine, and this is completely improper and illegal. I came back from my trip and then Kim notifies the day I return while my child is still in the hospital, that my puppy can no longer come there, that she doesn't think its the right "fit". Seriously? You had no problem running that credit card without permission or taking my dog unnecessarily to the vet? I don't think I'm the person with the problems here Kimmy. I would no longer recommend this company due to Kim's bizarre and completely inappropriate behavior. The reason she has ticks, is that she literally spends no money on the upkeep of this faciity. It is a hot mess.A dump. Filthy dirty, unkempt, inside and out. The road to get in is ridiculous, and they put zero back into the company for facilities maintenance. Obviously I loved the care by the caregivers there. Becky was amazing. But sometimes owners are completely disconnected from anything other than their own agenda. This is the case here. Avoid if you would not want your dog taken without your knowledge or consent to the vet, for no reason or your credit card charged without permission. These are both HUGE no no's. Seriously unlawful behavior. Just my own personal opinion based upon my experiences here in total. Everyone else there was kind and loving to my pet. But Kim as the owner who personally screened my dog for two hours before she could come there, is really crossing the line in her behaviors. read more

Such a shame my dogs love this place so much. I'd generally had pretty good experiences at BTR until recently, when I was confronted about a past due balance from a while ago from their owner. She completely embarrassed me, spoke to me in the most degrading disrecpectful manner, and really hurt my feelings. I'll never go back to born to run, not that I'm welcome, I'm sure! As a business owner, you dont treat people the way she treated me, over a lousey $48.00. I wrote Kim an email explaining that she sent me home in tears, and that there was a more respectful way to work out arrangements with someone, and of course she had no response for me. If I owned a business and sent a customer home in tears, I would be at least a little appologetic. She was completely out of line, and not that she probably cares, but she lost a customer over it. I've found a new doggy day care that my dogs love. I hope I never have to experience again being treated the way I was. I would reccommed to find another day care if you're trying to find one, don't use Born to Run-very unprofessional ownership to say the least! read more

this is THE best place i have ever boarded my dog. they don't charge extra for stuff like giving treats, or bringing your dog outside, or playing with your dog. for the exact same price as other boarding facilities, they do much much more. boarding is $33 a night, including daycare which is hours of playtime outside. they also do an evaluation of each dog to ensure no aggresive dog will be around the other boarders. the people that work here are super-friendly. check them out! read more

I took my dog to Born To Run for a long time to give it a fair and good chance and during that time I found that there weren't enough handlers for the amount of dogs that they have each day. It took me a long time to write this because I don't ever write about folks but the people entrusting their dogs to these folks need to know that dogs DO get hurt there, in my opinion, because there are not enough handlers. I wish I could show you the picture of my dog's injury and it happened more than once! I have a 12 pound pomchi and when we pull in to the parking lot of Born to Run she tries to jump out the window to get inside immediately! I was a little skeptical about leaving her at a daycare to play with all of the big dogs but now I think I was a fool to even think that. Born to Run helped socialize my puppy with all of the dogs, big to small, young to old. She has a blast there and comes home exhausted! I have boarded her on a few occassions and my puppy doesn't want to leave when I come to pick her up. They are so caring and nice to her and so accomadating. I have had a few occassions where my travel plans were changed and they had no problem changing my boarding reservations or keeping her an extra night. Born to Run is amazing and I couldn't be happier with the service they provide! read more

Prior to my first trip away from my one year old Mastiff, I extensively researched dog boarding facilities that offered outdoor, interactive play. Because my dog is still considered a puppy in mastiff-world, I wanted to make sure there was staff that would be attentive to his need for attention and also monitored play where he would be safe. Born to Run was one of the facilities that I visited in my research. I was so disappointed at the outcome as I had such high hopes after reviewing their website and seeing a huge grass yard for outdoor play ... which I thought were ideal. However, the conclusion to my research showed that no matter how nice the facilities, staff and the people caring for the dog is the MOST important peace of mind when leaving my dog in someone else's care. When I arrived on a very warm (over 100 degree morning), I was greeted by the owner and one of the staff immediately rushed my dog away to test his interaction with the rest of the dogs. Instead of letting me watch through a window so I could also observe, the owner kept me busy with paperwork and also tended to other business matters. During this time, I made the owner aware that he was a "special needs" dog as he had recently had toxic food poisoning and was still experiencing neurological problems and had heat sensitivity (one of my concerns in identifying the right place to board him). Finally, when more than 20 minutes had passed and I knew my dog was still outside on a very hot day I expressed my concern and told her that I wanted to check on him. She busied herself with several other business matters until after another 10 minutes had passed and I then insisted on checking on him. When I first saw him through the window, I could see he was already in heat distress ... he was standing away from the rest of the dogs (a pack of about 20) and his sides were heaving. I told her I wanted him brought in immediately. Once he came in, he sagged to the floor and lay heavily panting. I had never observed him in this state. Most shocking to me was her complete lack of concern at his condition. Made me realize if this was what they let happen while I was there, what would happen when I wasn't? No thanks. I had been bringing my dog to Born to Run for week long vacations a few times in the past year without ever being told of anything going wrong. Then, they proceed to tell me when I call to schedule boarding that, because my dog (German Short-haired pointer) is too "High Energy" they will not take him any longer. For a place called BORN TO RUN, where pointers need to run, they are DISCRIMINATING AND LUDACRIS!! WHAT A JOKE:BORN TO RUN....WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. PLUS THE PLACE IS NOT THAT CLEAN EITHER. read more

We had an initial great experience here. However, they have very strict policies regarding vaccinations that most vets don't regularly offer without request, and other boarding facilities do not require (don't have a huge issue with that as they are ensuring all the dogs safety). They also require a $25 assessment every 6 months if your pet hasn't been there in a while. This is non-refundable and isn't applied toward future visits or boarding. So basically you have to waste $50 a year to board your pet here, if you don't go out of town often. My dog was 2 weeks over the 6 month period and they tried to make me pay that fee again, and wouldn't budge even though I was going to board my dog for 14 days. My dog didn't have any behavior issues and she said he was a well behaved lab. They also have very strict and inconvenient pickup and drop off times, and are not very flexible. Bottom line this place takes themselves way too seriously. This is supposed to a fun experience for our dogs and peace of mind that they are in good hands while you vacation. They run this place like a reform school. Won't be back. They are dogs lady, not humans! read more

We have been taking our 2 dogs to Born to Run for about 6 years now. Our dogs love to go there, and we prefer taking them there, where they can run and play, versus being locked up in a kennel all day. We went away for Thanksgiving, and while our dog was there, he broke his leg (freak thing - not their fault). We could not get back home for 2 days, and Born to Run took care of our dog like he was their own. They took him to the vet, and got several estimates for surgery, and Kim (the owner) stayed with our dog all night to make sure he was OK. They also took him to his surgery on the day we were arriving back home. We don't know what we, or our dog, would have done without them and their caring attitude. We owe them a lot. I can't imagine another place doing what they did for our beloved dog. We will never go anywhere else! read more

I've been more than pleased with the care and happiness of my dog (formally 2 dogs) at BTR. The staff has always been wonderful and as accommodating as possible, Most importantly they truly care about their customers 4 legged and 2 legged. They've always kept me aware of any issues they may have arose during visits, which have been few and far between. I totally trust all the staff at BTR (and I'm quite fussy when it comes to my pets). I highly recommend BTR for anyone looking for safe and caring daycare and/or boarding environment for their dog. They're the best! read more

This is the best place to bring your dog. They take the time to have your dog come for a couple hours prior to them being boarded overnight to ensure they're not aggressive. They are only crated during nap and at night, and the entire rest of the time they play outside in the enormous backyard. In the summer, they have shade, kitty pools, and sprinklers. Basically it's dog heaven and our dog freaks out with excitement when we pull into the parking lot. read more

I have been boarding my dog now dogs with Born to Run for 3+ years and have had both positive, negative and neutral experiences. Most recently I have had a very negative experience and find it necessary to help others make an informed decision. First the past exeriences: After a week long stay my dog came home and was tired as usual, the dogs get plenty of exercise, but she did not bounce back like normal. I contacted Born to Run to learn my dog had not been eating and was lethargic for most of the week. This WAS NOT relayed to me when I picked up my dog. Off to the vet and meds to correct issue. Heading into the holidays we had a reservation for our dog to stay with Born to Run. Less than two weeks prior to the stay I received a call from the owner telling me she was going to have a function on the business site and because they identified my dog as "a barker" when she heard people, they would need to put a shock collar on her while the event was in progress. This left me with little time to find other accommodations for my dog. BTW - what dog doesn't bark when they hear people and they are locked up. Now for the most recent event. We boarded our dogs for just over a week. When I returned to pick them up I was told they were well behaved and had a great time. AFter returning home one of my dogs walked by me and had a gaping wound, all the way down to muscle, on her left side by her back leg. I contacted Born to Run to be told that at some time during the week another dog was playing rough with my dog and may have bitten her but staff checked my dog and she had no injury. I was also informed that the employee that cleaned my dog up on the morning I picked her up did not see any injury either. The wound was very apparent and you would have to be blind to miss it. My vet stated the wound was at least two to three days old and would now require surgery. Due to Born to Runs negligence my dog had to be anesthetized and go through surgery versus a local and some stitches if it had been addressed earlier. I requested a call from the owner and after not receiving a call, made a second call and request but still have not heard from her. I am left with the percesption that she does not care for her customers or the dogs they leave in her care. The only reason I am giving Born to Run two stars is because I do like the fact that the dogs are not in their kennels all day with minimal exercise. At Born to Run they are outside for much of the day and given a nap midday. UPDATE: I recieved a call from the owner two days after posting this comment. After discussing the matter the owner has offered to cover the portion of the vet bill that would not have been necessary had the injury been noticed earlier. Since this call the owner contacted my vet and resolved the matter, going further than I had expected. It was a pleasant surprise. read more
