We had our two dogs stay here recently when we went on vacation. First, they were very quick to respond and have our dogs come in for a meet and greet. They were very understanding in how soon we needed to board our dogs. The meet and greet was great, the owner was so knowledgeable and put our minds at ease in terms of leaving our dogs there. The staff were extremely friendly as well. Second, they were able to give both my dogs their medications while they stayed. They also have an Instagram that they update frequently so we could check in on our babies. I usually get a lot of anxiety when I leave my dogs anywhere new, but I felt relatively at ease with my dogs here. I will definitely have my dogs stay again for daycare or boarding and will likely look into the training program as well. read more

We were in town from California for a spring training game and we brought our 5mo puppy with us. Holly contacted me and advised me that they would be able to accommodate us. So I canceled my reservation for our local boarding. When we arrived, there was some confusion about the process of meeting a new dog but Nathan helped us out and we had our puppy stay with them so we could attend the game. The facility looked clean. We came here to see what this place was all about. at first impression, it seemed pretty nice. they have a big yard that the dogs play in, but you aren't allowed to see the back- odd, but not questioning. They give your dogs their bowls, you don't supply them- again, weird. Essentially we thought our dog was fine, but that changed. We picked her up, and she was not as excited to see us. normally she jumps, and makes a funny howling noise, but that was not it. Upon arriving home, she went to the bathroom, and we make a startling discovery that I don't need to tell you about because... details. She then proceeded to not eat her food, and vomited up something- Definitely not her food. Even after all of that, she refused to drink out of her water bowl!!! I have no idea what happened, especially because we love our dog, so much that we even had got her a private suite. they were not their best, and i'm truly sorry for leaving such a bad, long review. Was really excited to go check this place out for my puppy, as I'm looking for a daycare for him. Their Website is promising and they have great reviews but when I called in this morning to see about a tour she said no that they have to schedule a tour and it cannot be same day.....ok?........weird. then she said they only do tours Monday through Friday 10-2.....again, ok?......i asked what about the people who have jobs, can we schedule a Saturday or Sunday for the people who are working....she said "I have to ask my boss I'm just telling you the rules I know".......again, ok? We love Arizona Canine Center! We have been bringing our two dogs here since they were puppies (the oldest is 6 now). We have used most of their services, including boarding, daycare, grooming, and training, all of which have been amazing. Both Dobson and Mesa facilities are fantastic. They are well-maintained and clean, with lots of spacious areas inside and outside to play and interact with other dogs. Nate, Jessica, and the staff are all genuinely outstanding people whom we trust with our dogs implicitly. They treat every dog like their own and give them the same love, care, and attention they would get at home. They are very friendly and accommodating. The times when our oldest has been sick or injured and we have had an immovable work conflict, the staff still accepted her and tended to her in one of their private rooms until we could pick her up. They are great about administering meds as needed and replacing broken collars and leashes at no charge. They celebrate every dog's birthday and all major holidays with treats and photo shoots. They also have an Instagram account, where we can see what the dogs are up to during the day. Our dogs are always thrilled to go to Nate and Jessica's and happy and tired when they leave. We never worry when they are there, because staff are there around the clock. Arizona Canine Center helps us balance being a two-dog family with having two full-time jobs, and we are extremely grateful for that. We are so happy we found AZ Canine Center! Nathan is truly an incredible person who totally understands dogs and is able to easily explain how overcome behavior issues one may be having. The staff is always friendly and welcoming and daycare/ boarding is affordable. I called other trainers when we bought our puppy. Nathan is the only one who offered a free consultation and advice before we met, all others didn't want to hear about issues we were having, only cost and packages. I really got the sense that he loves his job and helping people/ dogs. He didn't make the main focus about the cost, he made his focus helping us. I used to take my dog here and it was generally okay. The last visit he was bitten by another dog and we immediately had to take him to the vet the same day we got back from a long trip. I don't even mind that he was bitten. The issue is that the staff did not notice the problem at any point. By the time he got to the vet it was determined that the infection was quite established and he had probably been bitten days ago. He was boarding there for about 8 days so this probably happened day one or two. We had to do antibiotics for 14 days every 8 hours and his entire neck got shaved. This is a long coated malamute so his hair has still not fully grown in and it has now been over 8 months since this happened. I have waited a long time to write this review because I don't like being critical but I think it is very important that people realize sometimes bad things do happen at open boarding and sometimes problems go unnoticed. I am not sure how much one on one time with humans he had here at all but considering they missed this issue that was super easy to find once I started petting him, I have to guess that he didn't get much. I really don't know because the staff is a bit tight lipped about what really goes on behind the scenes. Anyway, that's my experience. The owner did offer to help with the vet bills which was very responsible and appropriate. We did not accept the offer, we just wished someone had noticed my lethargic, infected dog with and oozing, open, very smelly puncture wound at some point days before we got him home. If he had stayed there much longer we might have had a life threatening problem rather than just a situation where he needed immediate medical attention. Two stars for some not bad experiences and the responsiveness of the owner to this issue. I REALLY HOPE this never happens to anyone else's dog. read more

Teddy is a two year old mini poodle where we did the paperwork and used a groupon to try it , definitely signing him up for a package!! My husband and I call him our fur child and on the first day I had to call we were both so nervous! The lady at the counter answered in a ring, made sure he was comfortable and was so reassuring! Updating my review. I gave them a second chance a while back and after voicing my concerns after the first interaction they made sure to follow the best they could and picked up pup with no scars or anything which is nice. I would suggest bringing your own bed tho even tho they provide beds, my dog got an ear infection after and have since brought my own bed for boarding. I think they possibly could be understaffed compared to the amount of pets so I'm hoping they can help the current staff there by bringing in more help for quality control and well being. My mom started bringing her pooch, Nellie, to Nathan when he started A Way To Wag on Elliot and McClintock in Tempe. When they moved the business to Chandler, which is closer to our home, I became very excited to see what was in store.........All I can say is Awesome!!! The facility is spotless. Very well maintained and cleanly. There is a large inside area along with a large outdoor area. We board Nellie here for overnight stays because they do not use cages or kennels which I believe would freak her out. Lol. Nathan evaluates each dog before allowing them access to the main facility. This is to make sure that there are nonaggressive dogs playing together and sharing the same spaces. I just recently picked Nellie up from a four day stay. Let me just say that 36 hours later, she is now just beginning to get up from a long rest! She played ball and hung not only with the small dogs, but was chillin with the big 'kids'. She was exhausted! It has been great for her to interact with other friends. They not only offer overnight boarding, they offer day programs as well as other services including on sight cage less grooming. This place is a must if you need a safe place for your beloved pooch. My dog, Papi and I love everything about AZ Canine Center! I have used them for both day care and overnight boarding. The staff is outstanding...very caring and they give each dog lots of love and attention. My dog has a few special dietary and medicine needs and they are always on top of it. There is organized outdoor play time, photo shoots, and lots of activities daily. Papi gets excited when he realizes he's going to "school" for the day and is excited (but tired!) when I pick him up. There is staff on-site overnight so I know he is always safe there. We have started a basic training class with Nathan and it has been great so far. We love AZ Canine Center. We've been taking our retriever here for a year now - every time we go on a trip, or won't be home for long periods of time, our dog comes back so happy and sleeps for a whole day. I took my dog to AZ Canine Center while I was on vacation, and I think she had more fun than I did. When I got her home she was happy and very tired. (A tired dog is a good dog!) The facility is big, bright and clean and I felt very comfortable leaving my girl there. The owner showed me around and let me know that someone would be on-site 24/7. The boarding area is cage-free - the dogs get to run and interact with other dogs the entire time they are there. At night they sleep in a cuddle puddle on one of the couches. One tip... call ahead and set up a time to bring your dog in for an orientation. They need to be sure they have suitable temperament for living cage-free with other dogs. read more

I can not speak more highly of AZ Canine! We've lived in 5 cities and tried many boarding places, and this is by far our dogs' favorite. The people who work there are amazing; they know all the dogs by name and play with them all day long. I also can't speak more highly of Nathan and his training sessions. I've been going here for about 1year & both my pups ( Havapoo & maltipoo) LOVE Az Canine Center. As soon as I turn in the driveway, both dogs go nuts & can't wait to get out of the car. Nathan & his staff are EXCELLENT with all the dogs... I think there are plans for a dog park on the property which members could use & I'm excited for all the improvements! Another added plus is that they have a groomer on site ( Michelle- excellent!) & after a full day of play, I can pick them up all groomed & clean. This is a gem of a place right in our own neighborhood and we didn't know it. We have a 8 month old Lab and even though we have a back yard and other playmates he needs more socializing and exercising than we can manage. Nathan knows his business well. We bring ours two to three times a week. He charges out of the car to get in to see his friends and sometimes refuses to get in to leave. He definitely is tired out by the time he gets home and gets along so much better with our other dogs. We have also had him bathed there and it is nice to pick up a clean dog versus having to take him elsewhere to another groomer. And on going training group classes are a plus. read more

I called these guys as I'm worried sick about leaving my little dog with a kennel. They want $40 a night and me to provide all meals on top of that. When I asked Nathan, the owner, how long I could leave my dog there he then asked me how much money I had. I honestly don't know what's wrong with people these days. I never thought I'd be the type of person to take my dog to a daycare. I "tried" one visit at AZ Canine Center and was hooked. My dog absolutely cannot wait to get inside and comes home exhausted which has made a huge difference in behavior at home. Nathan and all of his staff are very knowledgeable and caring. I highly recommend Nathan and the team at Az Canine Center. I have a 5yr old pup who has a complete meltdown anytime a person comes to our home, and leaving for vacation has been cancelled the past few years because we just were not sure what to try anymore. (We had a puppy sitter come stay in our home the last time we vacationed, and it was a terrible experience for both our Sassy, and the sitter) seeing as she is our responsibility, we made the choice not to leave her at home with strangers, and cage boarding was simply out of the question, so unless she could travel with us, we simply did not go. We had tried over the years what we thought would help Sassy not to be so fearful, Dog Behavioralists (several, actually), attempts to socialize visitors, taking her out in public as much as possible, etc nothing changed her behavior. I read about Az Canine Center in the newspaper, and was so hopeful that our Sassy could visit such a great, calm, no cage, learning, environment. I was certainly skeptical if this could ever happen. In order to maintain a positive environment, obviously, they will not allow aggressive animals to stay there, but I really wanted this to be the kind of place and person to help us, so I called to inquire. I explained my situation, and was invited down with Sassy for a consultation with Nathan. We went the next day and the minute we met Nathan, Sassy made a complete fool out of me, because we walked right up to him, and Sassy never even acknowledged he was in our space...(this has everything to do with Nathan's knowledge and skill with dogs), he ignored her, she ignored him, everybody was cool...he did not crouch down and immediately try to touch her, get in her face, stare in her face, just ignored her, it was so great! Nathan spent over 45min with Sassy and I, talking, learning about the center, talking and observing Sassy. He did not feel that Sassy was anywhere near "aggressive" or "fear aggresssive" (a term I had been handed over and over by others to describe Sassy) He took her back to the open area and let her go in with a few really mellow dogs, and monitored her behavior, he even took a video to show me her behavior when I'm not there, no reaction- not overly friendly, very shy, but NO aggression towards other dogs - priceless. I asked Nathan if he thought Sassy was a candidate for the center, I would love to have a safe place with knowledgeable, attentive people caring for my baby while I leave town in 3 months.. Nathan suggested Sassy start coming to visit in intervals, and we would monitor her and begin to get her acquainted before her overnight lengthy stay. Sassy started out at 2hrs, then 4hrs, up to 6hrs, she now goes to visit with Nathan and the team 3to4 days a week for up to 7 hrs. She is still not a social butterfly, but she is absolutely not the dog I first walked in with 2 months ago. I leave for vacation in 4weeks, Sassy will be staying with Nathan, and I do not have a single worry about it (other than missing Sassy, of course) I cannot recommend enough that if you are looking for a place that really cares about your baby, this is it! Even if you "think" your pup would not fit in an environment like this - I didn't either... call and meet with Nathan, he is an expert for a reason. He also does onsite training, grooming, etc. Sassy will be using both of those while we are on vacation. Do your dog a favor and call Az Canine Center! read more
