I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at Happy Pet's Palace. Before boarding my dog for the weekend, I called on Thursday and was quoted $82 total. When I arrived to pick him up, they suddenly told me the bill was $106 instead. The employee even admitted that THEY made a mistake with the quote. I explained that customers should not be forced to pay for the company's error, but instead of honoring the quoted price, they gave me the manager's number and told me to call. I texted multiple times and received absolutely no response. Meanwhile, my dog was essentially being held until I paid the higher amount. I had no choice but to pay the extra money just to bring my pet home. Mistakes happen, but good businesses take responsibility for them. Happy Pet's Palace chose not to. The lack of accountability, poor communication, and refusal to honor their own quoted price was incredibly unprofessional. I would strongly caution others to get EVERYTHING in writing before leaving their pets here. read more

Happy Pets Palace use to be our go-to boarding company for our dog, Copper. We recently boarded him there in mid-September. When I dropped him off, Copper was in perfect health and had recently been to the vet to ensure everything was ready to go with the boarder. When I picked up Copper approximately 6 nights later, he had a 3.5" cut on his left front leg and was severely limping on his back left paw (pic attached). When I returned home, I immediately contacted the boarder to ask what had happened. They claim that because nothing was documented that nothing happened. Our next move was to go to our vet to get a diagnosis. After $350 in blood work and examination, Copper tested negative for Valley Fever and the vet concluded that a soft tissue injury while Copper was boarded was the likely culprit and prescribed $50 in medication for my dog. We went back to Happy Pets Palace to get an understanding for why my dog was injured and we were not notified. We also hoped for a refund to off-set the cost of the vet bills caused by their neglect. Happy Pets Manager, Linda's, response (even after being showed the vet's diagnosis and blood work) was that it was our "impression" that Copper was injured. Happy Pets refused to acknowledge the injury they caused and refused to issue any refunds. Long story short, this is a boarder charging a premium without delivering on any of the promises. I have never been so appalled at not only the treatment of my dog but the treatment of us, the owners, after seeking answers for why my dog returned home severely injured. I will never board with them again and I caution all dog owners to seek another boarder to avoid serious harm or injury to your dog. read more

I'm conflicted with this place. I've never had to board my three dogs before but I had no choice with a week trip for a family wedding. I wasn't there for the interview but it seemed like a great place. I chose it because it had cameras, even in their suite room so I could check on them anytime and see they were ok. They seemed well taken care of and everyone was very nice. However, all three dogs caught kennel cough here (even with them all being vaccinated) and after paying $630 for 4 nights, had to pay over $200 in vet bills for medicine and exams because somehow they let a dog in that had kennel cough and it spread to the other dogs there. I was very disappointed that they came home sick and it cost me so much in vet bills to treat them. Having the cameras was great and people were nice but I don't think I would ever bring my dogs back here. read more

We just moved to the area and I had to decide where to board my pup while we were in the process of moving. After a long search I decided on Happy Pets. Boy was that a great move. They have been incredibly accommodating and Lilly is happy there! Unfortunately we had the same experience as the other 1 star reviews here. They are rude in the way that they reject dogs and it left us feeling discriminated against. Our PUPPY is 8 months old and has never been to a doggy daycare like this. She loves going to the dog park and is never aggressive, but LOVES going to the dog park. So naturally she was excited to be there with the other dogs and was pulling on the leash. Right away she said "I've been here a while, but we'll give it a shot". So she already had decided in her mind it wasn't going to work. They took her back and put her with another timid dog, and because the other dog didn't warm up to her within 5 minutes, yes it was less than 5 minutes, they determined this was too much and it wasn't going to work. Much like the other 1 star reviews they didn't give any context about why they didn't want her. I can understand a place like this having standards and they hold the right to do this, but they don't need to be rude about it. We had called the day prior to setup the appointment, why not provide some details around, what I consider ridiculous, expectations so that you don't waste my time? Their goal isn't to reject aggressive dogs, it's to reject any dogs that have a lot of energy and are going to require any extra attention. They are looking for timid dogs that are easy to watch, which is fine, but don't waste my time and let me know that upfront AND be more graceful at delivering the message in a kind and understanding way. You left my fiance very said and angry about the situation because of how rude and discriminated she felt you were. Disappointed, was referred by a friend who loved them, but of course her dog doesn't enjoy being around other dogs and is extremely timid. read more

I LOVE this place and so does my dog! I have a small King Charles cavalier who is very timid around dogs, and would rather hide then play. I had to leave for a week and was nervous to leave him for so long. Not only was I relieved but I was filled with joy watching him play, socialize, and get lots of pats from their very friendly staff. I've since kept him coming back, as well as my sisters 2 Airedale's for play dates and have not been disappointed. This place provides a safe environment for all sizes, plenty of exercise, and access to watch your pet at any point. If you care for your dog, trust me they will be taken care of. New to Phoenix - Very disappointed in the end results with what I thought would be a comfortable place to leave our 6 year old Boxer. I liked the idea of cameras to see our dog while we traveled. I should have listened to my gut, when I had to pay 1/2 day fee for them to evaluate compatibility with other dogs. I understand and recommend the "meet and great", but I have never paid for it in the other 2 boarding retreats we have used. If your dog is playful, he will not do well here. After not seeing our dog for a day on the cameras, I called 2 times for 2 days to ascertain why. I was also concerned of what appeared to be a very overcrowded "free area" where our dog was (not a holiday week). It took 2 days for a callback, and then was advised my dog was not suitable to be with others (never have had that problem before). During our trip, we received an email from Happy Pets Palace, warning us about fleas, ticks and "biting lice on two small dogs". Our dog ended up staying in a "kennel" most of the stay. When I tried to discuss some adjustment on the rate, I was told, "the rate is the rate - no considerations". After telling our friends, who referred us to 'Happy Pet Palace', our situation, they also told us that they have had similar experiences and won't be returning. It seems the reputation this establishment has had is slipping drastically; evidence that just because you charge higher than market rates does not guarantee quality service. Hence, we will not ever use "Happy Pets Palace" to care for our pet again. read more

Love this place! The staff here are so friendly and always remember your fur-baby by name. My boxer puppy has been coming to Happy Pets since he was 4 months old, and he adores it here - he gets so excited when he realizes we're in the parking lot! I chose this facility for doggie day care over others because of their camera system - it's so nice to check on my pup while I'm at work and see him having a blast. I've also boarded him here as well, and felt so comfortable knowing he was getting such good care, with people and animals he was already familiar with, while we were out of town. Came to use the self service dog wash. They left us at the front desk for 10 minutes as they sat in the office and chatted before someone came out. I was about to call from my phone to get someone to come out. No greeting or "how are you?" Borderline cranky. She then went to get someone else when we asked about the self service dog grooming. The next gal came out and said "some people ruined it for others" and they no longer offer self-service dog washing to anyone but clients. So, basically, I have to use their daycare service to give my 70 pound dog a bath?!?? Anyway, it's fine that they don't offer that service any longer, but update the website at least. I drove over here because of the reviews and the facilities it hypothetically offered. Also, based on what I saw on cameras, they seemed to have a LOT of dogs in the daycare rooms with minimal staff present. Not sure I'd be ok leaving my dogs - the big or small ones - here. I rarely do reviews but had to take the time to express how happy we are with Happy Pets Palace! We moved to Mesa from the west side and were happy with our other facility but are even happier here! Cody LOVES going to daycare and we are thrilled to have such a safe and friendly place for our pup when we have long days at work. I tried this place out because I was unhappy with my former boarding facility. The interview went well. My dog is quite friendly, but has less than optimal socialization experience. She bonded with the owner, her staff, and the other little dogs quite well. In the former boarding facility my little dog would vomit several times upon arriving home (even though I brought her food with me). This time she was totally happy. When I dropped her off at this place, it smelled clean and cared for (not true at the other place). Also, I washed her before bringing her home. The washing facilities and shampoo / conditioner products are wonderful and have left her coat super soft. I have recommended this place to all my dog owner friends. I have canceled my Christmas reservations at the other place, and booked my little girl here for the same period. read more

I love this place! After taking our lab from 4 months to 14 months to another boarding/daycare we decided to change because he wasn't tired after playing all day. Happy Pets treats our dog wonderfully and he comes home tired after playing all day! I love the web cams - so fun to watch! They also give us peace of mind that he is doing what we are paying for - receiving attention from the staff and playing with his friends. When we enter the facility, our dog is known right away. Hate to compare but that wasn't always the case with the "other" facility. I just wish we would have started sooner with Happy Pets. My Jack Russell Terrier loves playing with his friends at Happy Pets Palace in Mesa (at their "Royal" Palace in Gilbert, for little dogs). The staff does a great job managing the energy of the dogs. I SO appreciate that they are persnickity about the dogs they accept as clients. I know that fact might be annoying to some dog owners, but I think it smart to be careful controlling the energy level so that's not out of control. read more

We recently boarded our female mixed breed dog here for a number of days. We had previously taken her to another kennel for about two years, but needed to find somewhere new because of recent health issues we'd had once she came home from the other place. Happy Pets Palace absolutely exceeded our expectations! Super clean with an amazingly friendly staff. The owner is often onsite, very accessible, and genuinely interested in providing the dogs she boards the best care possible. We loved the ability to watch our pup on webcams while she was there. We've loved this place so far! Our Doberman seemed happy and healthy after 6 days and we watched her on the webcams frequently. We're pleased with the staff's quick responses, receptiveness to our dog's needs, and with the way the dogs are treated. We can tell by the way our gal follows the staff around that she's very comfortable and trusts her environment while we're gone. We're thrilled with this particularly because she's a large, high-energy Doberman and can look intimidating. The staff genuinely seems to love, pet, and care for every single breed that trots through the door. I saw a couple reviews from people whose high-excitement dogs were turned away, but this place doesn't just take in quiet dogs. There are always dogs of all personalities and energy levels here, but they have to demonstrate they play well in a pack, which is going to include dogs of opposite personalities. One thing that helps is taking your pooch on a long walk before coming to boarding. That way they'll be more calm and congenial. We've also brought our girl here for 1/2 day care, which wears her out. She's always so excited to go. We also like that the dogs that go here have to be vaccinated and pass an orientation, during which their interactions with each other are studied and monitored to ensure they're a good fit. I absolutely love bringing my dog here for day camp. Great exercise and socialization for her! Peace of mind for me, because I can check in on her throughout the day via the live webcams. I have checked in on her and caught her being read to (yes, I'm totally serious) by staff. I've also checked in on her online and caught her being hugged and loved on by staff. I always leave her there knowing she is in good hands. I also recognize many of the dogs as ones we see regularly at the dog park, so I'm happy that she is seeing some familiar faces...or butts, whatever :) She did have to go through an interview process before being allowed to attend camp. I dropped her off for an afternoon and they basically watched how she interacted with the other dogs to make sure she was a good fit. I appreciate that they are careful and selective about which dogs they feel comfortable with and am thankful that she is one of them. I can't say enough good things about this place or the staff. They are so kind, loving and attentive to my two puppies; I never feel nervous or worried when they are there. Yesterday I called in a panic needing to bring my dogs in. I work 24 hour shifts for work and happened to be needed the full 24 hours and couldn't leave my puppies unattended that long, mind you my little girl had been fixed 5 days ago so she needs some extra special care. They graciously said they could come and stay the night and they would keep an extra eye on my little one who just got fixed (keeping her away from other dogs). This review is actually for the ROYAL pet palace which is in Gilbert only for small dogs. I only take my girls when I am going on a vacation. It is so nice to be able to see the girls when I am away and missing them thru their Webcams. The Gilbert location is perfect. Someone spends the night in a bed so the girls feel as close as they can to a home type environment. They even sent me photos and dealt with my overprotective boyfriend who couldn't get the Webcam to work. You guys rock!! read more

We had been leaving our (less than one year old) puppy at Happy Pets Palace every other Saturday for about seven months. We also had boarded our dog for a few nights. Everything was great for that time period. The second to last time we took Duke in we were notified that he had been humping some of the smaller female dogs. (Duke is neutered). We told Linda (the owner)that Duke knows the meaning of the word "no" and that he would respond. Also that we had not seen him exhibit this behavior elsewhere. She said that she would work with Duke in the future to behave better. During this conversation another employee interjected that they see much worse humping from other dogs. Our dog weighs 30 lbs. We left after that visit feeling like Duke had a bad day, but that everything would be fine. Fast forward two weeks. We are dropping Duke off for his daycare, and Linda informs us that if Duke humps this visit he will be banned. We were blindsided by this news. We feel that the situation had been severely escalated. We expressed these concerns to Linda, and her response was that she was being "transparent". That is comical, seeing that is exactly opposite of what was happening. The dog had one bad day of humping ( a common dog behavior) and now we are being threatened with banishment. If Linda can't figure out how to handle a 30 lb dog, something is amiss. We feel there were plenty of other options to explore before threatening us with banishment. We feel that maybe this all came about because we don't spend enough money on daycare and our dog was not worth the effort. Happy Pets did not handle the dog or the owners in this simple situation with any tact. We don't feel comfortable leaving our pet in their care. It really sucks to put trust in a business then be treated with disregard. read more

I must agree with other post that they do discriminate against certain breeds and the owner is rather rude. They told me last week to call to set up an evaluation for our 7 month old puppy who is bulldog pit mix. I called yesterday to set this appt and was told they are full for our breed because they tend to have lots of energy. I asked the owner if they are accepting other breeds and she said yes. This is a nice, clean facility and they take care to group the dogs according to size. The webcam is a nice touch -you download an app and can watch your dog during business hours. The staff seemed attentive and caring. Unfortunately, when I picked my dog up he came down with kennel cough the next day. When I called to ask if they had noticed him coughing, the person in charge told me that her pets had been coughing and sneezing too, and she had taken them to the vet. That disturbed me, because her pets had been in the facility when my dog went for his initial evaluation and his first day of boarding. It took two vet visits to get him better so it turned out to be a rather expensive experience. In all fairness, it is possible the manager's pets did not exhibit symptoms when my dog was exposed. Likewise, my dog did not exhibit symptoms until the day after I picked him up. Still, I was going to take him there for daycare but now am reluctant to do so. read more

Pretty unimpressed. They spent the whole "interview" telling us how smart and well trained they were. Then they took my little dog back and sent him into a pen with another dog. When he barked at the other dog, they declared "that's rude behavior, not happy play" and told us not to come back. Keep in mind, I take this dog several times per week to the leash-off park to play with other dogs, and he does fine. Could it be these "gurus" just stressed him out a bit by rushing things? I had a very positive first impression when I took our 6 month old labrador for an interview. Although he weighs 50lbs he has not been around a lot of other dogs and is timid. The staff recognized this fairly quickly and moved him from the enclosure with the larger, more aggressive dogs to the enclosure with the smaller quieter dogs. It was great to be able to watch the cameras whenever you want. Will definitely be back. read more

Me and my 9 month old boxer Zoey came in today for a tour and temperament test. I was literally BLOWN AWAY with this wonderful facility. I was greeted by the owner who was beyond pleasant and took the time to explain everything to me in great detail. Showing me the certifications of all her employees and went into detail about how much training her employee's are expected to achieve and the minimum they must have in order to work for her. I was thrilled to watch the video camera of my pooch at play while I was away. You must download an app on your phone and pay for a subscription. No biggie, it's only $5 for a year. I was obsessed with the video feed. There was ALWAYS employee supervision over all areas of the grounds watching all of the animals at play and not one of them were ever not paying attention to the dogs. They are very affectionate with all the dogs. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. I can not say enough good about this place. We were extremely pleased. I am over the moon to know that my precious babies are in good--no, EXCELLENT hands here. I also want to emphasize that the owner/front desk was absolutely amazing with me and my dog. I can rest assured knowing that I can leave my pooches in such loving, caring, compassionate and knowledgeable hands. read more
