While Charlie (golden retriever) is a typical cleanup and well mannered, Larry (sheepdoodle) is not. His hair is crazy and I was expecting to need a full shave down on him. They did a beautiful job with a light trip and scrub to keep him fluffy, which we love! Not only is his hair crazy, but he is still on the puppy side of energy and is a handful. They had nothing but nice things to say about him and quickly realized that him and Charlie needed to stay together. I can tell they put their love into their practice and I love that in return! Additionally, she wasn't even brushed off or cleaned afterward and shed all the excess hair that was cutoff all over me and the car on the ride home. I took my little chihuahua/maltese mix here because my regular groomer place was booked out for the month. This place is a family business type, only takes cash and check no card. Brought her to them and picked her up about 2.5 hrs later. I gave them my number and they confirmed it with me. When I picked her up they said she had a bloody nose because of stress. They told me they let me know by text what happened but I never got the text message. My dog never had a bloody nose before with the groomers I've used. They did recomend to use some sedatives while grooming her. But again, this was the first time I've been notified she did this. It made me think my dog was either not used to them or it could be rough handling. And then the smell of the place wasn't pleasant. It smelled between wet dog and cigarettes. Some of that smell got on my dog as I took her home. I do enjoy the cut they did on her and it was a decent price but I don't think my dog was content. So I don't think I will return. read more

I have two rescue dogs that do not do well with grooming. At Dogonegood pet grooming the owner explained that they are trained/practice something called compassionate grooming. Unfortunately in the past I made the mistake of taking my dogs to a different very popular grooming place in Tempe. They were completely traumatized for a week after. Terrified of people and throwing up. we never went back there again. Thankfully we found Dogonegood. They are amazing. My dogs have always responded well to your grooming techniques. As I waiting to pickup my pups, I overheard someone arguing and being rude. I took a look around, behind the employee only door there was a lady roughly brushing out a white Pomeranian. The groomer was upset at the pup because the pup wasn't standing still for her liking. It was heartbreaking to see and I can only imagine how my pups had been treated. You take a chance and trust your puppies. I would not recommend this place to anyone. In addition, after picking up the two pups. The lady slightly opened the employee door and tossed my dogs out and abruptly closed the door. As if my dogs were trash. Truly heartbreaking, to say the least I will not be returning. Please do not bring your precious pups here, terrible customer service, quality of care and lack of care for animals. And in regards to the grooming skills, my dog is a maltipoo and came out looking like a mini schnauzer. Which they also had the dog's name mixed up. read more

I've been brimaging my dog here for grooming for about 9 months and have had no problems, or so I thought, until today. I went in today as a walk just to get my dogs nails clipped. No one was aware of me standing in the lobby. I could tell the owner was bathing a dog from the noises coming from the back. The dog began making noises and I could hear the woman getting upset and proceeds to start yelling at the dog to stop it and shut up and then calls the dog a "bitch." I made it known I was in the lobby and proceeded to tell the woman that I could hear what she said and that I would be sitting outside to let the owner of that dog know what I had heard. She began to trying to tell me she was the owner, then switched her story to the owner knows the dog snaps. Did she think that made a difference? I did let two owners who drove up as I was leaving about what I had heard. The groomer came walking out after me telling me she was going to call the police. I will NEVER bring my baby here again and I will tell everyone I know who owns an animal not to bring their babies here as well!! read more

I decided to give this place a try after seeing all the reviews... however I was incredibly disappointed with the service. They put a wrist coil around the dogs neck to differentiate them which I was concerned about but they said it was fine and my dogs would be ready in 3 hours. They called me after 2.5 hours that my dogs were ready and I notified them I would be on my way (I live 25 minutes away). Staff was very nice and my dog was happy when he left with some yummy treats and a cute new bandanna. But unfortunately I didn't get anything near what I asked for. I asked for a trim around the eyes and to keep my goldendoodles long, shaggy coat. When I picked him up he was Completely unrecognizable. His gorgeous, long coat was shaved completely down. I am very sad that for the last few months of him having that "young puppy look" he is going to look like this. If this is what I had asked for, I'd say they did a good job. But it was certainly not. **2020 update**. It's been over 4 years and my dogs and cats LOVE going to see Ms Shelley! Ok well the dogs get excited every single time and the cats could care less but the point is, just check them out! They will do a great job! So I use to take my dogs to another place "if you read any of my reviews you know where" and my son told me that there was a dog grooming place by his school so I thought I would check it out. I walked in to talk to them to see what the pricing, etc was and found out that the owners have groomed my dogs and my cat previously at the "other place". Imagine my delight!! So I scheduled my dogs for the next day and took them in. My dogs were so excited to see familiar faces even though it was a different location which is way closer to home. When I picked them up I noticed one stray hair on Max and pointed it out and she took him right back and fixed him up. Now the best part was I told her that the last time I took the dogs to the other place they said my dogs had fleas and ticks which they had never had before. She treated them for FREE because she felt bad about my previous experience with the other company. I will not take them anywhere else! In fact I will be calling today to get my cat in for grooming as well. Do yourself a favor and check them out. read more

I would give ZERO stars if i could, a friend of mine dropped off and picked up my 8 year old 9lb dog for me as i was working she sent me a picture of my dog after she picked her up from Doggone and i could tell from the picture my dig didnt look like she Normally does when i pick her up from the groomer, When i got home i could see my dogs hair was extremely uneven and her legs and ears are still dirty her whole coat is still not what i would consider to be clean or what she usually looks like when i pick her up from being groomed she looks lime so.eone cut her hair with corrugated scrapbooking scissors..The next afternoon i called and spoke with Shelly and i calmly and clearly expressed my concerns she immediately got on the defensive and said "well she was all over the place and was even climbing around my head" which i found laughable my normal groomer Loves our dog and raves about how well she is behaved, the fact that a 9lb toy poodle maltese mix overpowered Shelly made me second guess her experience and professionalism all together, i told her we all make mistakes i was just surprised that someome would let such poor workmanship walk out of their buisness and she hung up on me so i called back and left her a message stating if she didnt want to handle this professionally i qould have no choice but to leave a bad review of my experience and instead of offering to fix my dogs horrible hair cut or refund any money she texted me "do what you have to do"....I have NEVER wrote a bad review this alone should tell you dont let Shelly Butcher your dogs there are LOTS OF BETTER OPTIONS in the area i recommend you choose ome of her competitors read more

However, they are just 2 minutes down the road from where I live. I tend to be spontaneous with my appointments, and they always manage to fit me in last minute. Their prices are very reasonable and they do a great job. I've taken my little Doxiepoo to Dogonegood Pet Grooming about six times now and I've always gotten consistent results. They don't have the most glamorous establishment, but that's probably how they can keep their prices down. What I love the most is when you call, you don't get redirected several times by a machine, you talk directly to a person. One thing I wish they offered though, is dental cleaning.
