refused vaccinations ? my cousin is going through a tough time and had to find homes for his new kittens. knowing she hasn't been vaccinated, I scheduled to get her shots the same day he was dropping her off, as he is tight on money. I picked one of the later times, 5:10p. when we got there the vet said I need to have her in my care for a week before they can vaccinate .... why does the VETCO website say the opposite? "If your pet's vaccination history is unknown, we must assume the pet has not been vaccinated and our veterinarians may recommend completing the series to ensure your pet is fully protected" even though I know she isn't vaccinated, the website also says "What happens if I missed my puppy or kitten's booster vaccines? - Vaccinate as soon as possible if your pet misses a vaccination." (see FAQ's on Vetco's website to find these). I've already got a cat at home, and they want me to keep them separated for a week ? I have to keep one in a room at all times? lazy doctors are not real doctors. Whoever is the "vet" here has no motivation and clearly wanted to leave early. read more

I went in this morning to get a second fish for me 5 gallon tank. I have one neon Tetris. One died I had the water checked, emptied it and changed the gravel and the tunnels and trees. The girl working in the fish dept refused to sell me one more fish for a 5 gallon tank!!! I do not as a senior woman need to be talked down to and treated like I'm stupid. Today May 23, 2025 at night I went to Petco Ahwatukee branch with my dogs who love this store and unfortunately I received the worst attention from their cashier named Mia, it is not the first time that she is rude to us but today it was much more, she ignored us for more than five minutes when we arrived at the register because she was chatting with her partner, she did not greet me, she did not ask for my phone number for my points, she did not ask me if I wanted to donate and she did not offer me a bag, she gave me my ticket in a rude way, we will not return while this employee is here, since always, always we have received pleasant treatment. read more

Walked in to get a few items for my pets on my lunch break and I was appalled by how no one wanted to help me. I asked if anyone could help me in a certain section of the store was told someone would be right there...lone behold no one comes and I was in there for about 25/30min. Grabbed all the stuff I needed without the animal I wanted to give a new home. Went to the counter and was greeted with nothing but attitude from the cashier. Said nothing when I walked up and stared at me like I was interrupting her phone time of which she was on when I walked up. Not a word not a smile. Absolutely terrible customer service and I see why so many locations are closing. I spent $200 in this store because I couldn't find the supplies else where however I wish I didn't because I shouldn't have supported this store and neither should any of you. I had a really bad experience at this location today. Before entering the building, I always make sure my dog goes to the restroom so he doesn't pee inside the store. Well he peed on the outside of the building and a worker with half pink and black hair came out and aggressively cleaned it. I tried saying sorry about that but she just kept walking off. I felt so uncomfortable, we didn't go in. I had been there about 5 mins. I had to buckle up my small children in 96 degree weather. I won't come back! read more

He's gotten 3 new beds there in the past several months (he sleeps around a lot) :) and he loves all of them, especially the Sealy Orthopedic. Every company has its good and bad. I gave a 2 stars as a generosity in hope for improvement. 1. The experience here has been met with over priced pets compared to other shops. 2. The customer service needs a bit of work. Friendliness is met with being shrugged off. Knowledge of their pets is highly limited. - Apparently, mirrors can be psychologically damaging to Conures, why not advise a person who doesn't know about this at the time of purchasing the pet and toys. -You can't tell me if the bird is clipped but you can tell me the gender (which requires a DNA test. Btw, yes, the wings were clipped as I got an better look at them at home. -The amount of knowledge was left to what was on the sheet of paper on the window...which, seems made up now that we've had the bird for a bit. Likes cuddles my butt. It hasn't been held by people often (later being told by another employee), so how do you know it likes cuddles. -As many emails as I have received in the past two weeks, not one notice that there was going to be a charge for bags. Not on the doors, posted at the store, or an email. Traveling from out of town, now having tons of bird toys floating around in the back seat is a pain. But I would have gone with my bags if i would have known this change was going to happen. read more

I booked a grooming appt today for my puppy yesterday. Appt was for 5pm. My boyfriend gets there a few minutes late from accidentally going to the wrong location. I called the location to let them know prior as well. The gentleman that answered said that was fine. My boyfriend shows up and the groomer Chloe says she isn't taking appts at 5pm and never got the message from the guy and would have never took us anyway even if we showed up at 5pm on the dot but, yet this was never mentioned throughout the day. The guy who answered the phone never mentioned our appt was an issue. She reschedules it for tomorrow at 5pm but, told my boyfriend she'd reschedule it between 4:50 and 5:10pm incase we had the same incident as today....his going to the wrong location was an accident and her rudeness was definitely intentional. I've been coming to this location for nearly four years. My shih tzu Annie trained here in 2019 with Dakota who was seriously amazing. When I came at that time both me and my dog were recognized by the management and staff who checked in. At some point I brought Annie in for a groom. I knew a majority of the staff still so new faces weren't a huge problem for me. But then I got her back and she had cuts all over her body and my vet confirmed they were grooming cuts so I finally decided to go check out other grooming places. I got another puppy shih tzu last year, Duke. I signed up at another store but they were unavailable so I transferred here, knowing grooming didn't work out but I had an amazing training experience here. The trainer was brand new and unlike Annie's experience where she had several puppies to interact with in her class, we started off with an adult large dog who needed remediation. I felt with each visit that other dogs were getting more attention. I finally expressed this frustration to the trainer and just felt overall that we got quite the short end of the stick compared to Annie's experience. I'm still dealing with some behavior issues from him. I recently decided to try out this location for grooming again because I recall really liking the cuts they gave. I came in with Duke leashed and Annie at my heel because she is usually very good about that and she took off uncharacteristically and I got a lecture from someone. Then when I went into the grooming salon I was met with hostility and aggression from someone in the grooming salon who didn't communicate well over phone and text to me and refused to then see me for an appointment. The lady who lectured me was the general manager and was someone I vaguely recognized from before and she was "unavailable" suddenly and I didn't know the other manager. As I sat in the store starting this review she then got me booked in two days with Alysha. Still, an hour drive round trip out of my way to get there. Come the appointment pick them up and head home. As I'm petting them i am feeling bumps and cuts all over Annie again. But when I brought her to a different vet, vet said no they were more likely to be an allergic reaction to shampoo. Got on antibiotics, still took weeks to heal. I sent a message by text last night to try to get an appointment over the weekend so I could get Annie picked up quickly - in case it was an environmental allergen to the cages - and I offered to bring my own hypoallergenic shampoo. At 7am this morning got a bunch of texts. First I heard Alysha doesn't do weekends but I'm not available next week. Asked about any weekday appointments. Was told this week wasn't good. So then asked about other groomers for the weekend that were good. The response to that was a Sunday appointment with a *new* groomer who was *usually alone* (why would you put a new groomer on a shift by herself anyway?) I said that's not someone good. Remembering my experience last time I asked for a manager. The same person I was talking to called me - Marissa - and said she was the manager of the grooming salon. I started to try to ask about being accommodating and she kept talking over me so I finally hung up on her and texted for her to have her general manager contact me. She said the GM wasn't in this week. She tried to state that she couldn't hear me on the phone then had the gall to state she doesn't believe they are the right groomer for me and I could have my "needs" better fitted elsewhere and I said I'll decide where I go thanks. So came to the conclusion Marissa is probably the same girl I had issues with the first time this happened. read more

Horrible customer service. They had 3 cashiers initially. One walked away to do nothing even tho there was a line of people waiting to check out. The second was trying to help do a return I'm guessing. Looked to me like she was just standing there with the guest. Which leads to my one and only line. This cashier was slow and confused, even telling the customer she was going to have to step away. What a cluster! I can tell you 100% I will not go back to this store. Bought something for my dog and walked out the store and noticed I had bought a XS instead of small and walked back in, this was 45 seconds and went to exchange and was greeted by an bigger girl employee who said I could not exchange them and walked away rudely. I worked customer service for over 9 years and was in management for 5 of those years. I'm the last person to leave a review because I understand how frustrating being short staffed can be. However, the last three times I've been to this location the customer service has been horrid. The adoption volunteer was the nicest person in the store and actually helped us with a question. We asked a Petco employee in fish for help with crickets and were told that's the cashier's job (even though she was busy with a customer and this lady wasn't helping anyone at the moment). She decided to help us anyway and then when we got to the cashier she was incredibly rude. Very short with us and looked like she would rather be anywhere else. From a staffing standpoint Petco, don't put your rudest employee on the register. They have to deal with the most people and are the last experience a customer has before leaving a store. We were being very nice to her despite the service we were receiving. Not my first negative experience with this specific cashier. I thought last time she was just having a bad day but it seems like that's just her personality. Do better Petco. read more

This is a nice store and fun to shop in. Unlike a lot of other pet stores, the employees seem very happy here and are friendly and eager to help. The store is really nice and well kept, and there are nice, wide aisles so shopping is never cramped. The pricing is competitive, and the selection is great. Good place to shop! read more

I purchased dog food from there. Within a day and a half, my dog started getting sick. I returned the unused cans with no problem. It wasn't until after I returned the cans that I realized the dog food I had purchased expired over a year ago. I called PetCo immediately and they did remove the expired cans from their shelf. My dog developed liver disease and died. When I first contacted PetCo, I did not get any response. I contacted the corporate location and then got a call. I basically heard excuses as to why it happened. "Employees can get distracted by customers and lose track of their checking." I have health records showing her liver was healthy prior to switching her to the dog food. PetCo made no offer to help with all the medical bills. All I got was a sorry for the misstep in processes. I would recommend going elsewhere for your pet needs. As a follow-up to my original posting, I received a generic email from PetCo asking me to provide more detail regarding the expired food. At the end of the email, they referred to my dog grooming experience. Dog grooming has nothing to do with my dissatisfaction. They clearly put no thought into sending an accurate response to this posting or show any compassion for the situation. I did ask for an address so I could respond to their request. It has been six days and no response. At this point, I am no longer interested in hearing from them. read more

I had such a phenomenal experience. I scheduled my appointment online and walked in this morning, assuming I had my appointment today. However, I failed to realize that my appointment was scheduled for next week, but the associate who was working, named Morgan, was SO amazing. Even though I made the mistake, she offered to groom my dog and my dog is not little..he's an Akita, so he does take a bit of time to work on. I warned Morgan that my dog gets nervous with the blow dryer at times. When I arrived to pick up my Akita, Morgan advised that she was able to blow dry him and stated that he was nervous at first but then just sat between her legs. She was so gentle and understanding with my dog, she took the time to make sure he felt comfortable; he loved her. After this experience, I will continue to come back and have my dog groomed here. Petco is definitely a go-to spot when it comes to my pet's food and toys. Items aren't always the cheapest but the selection is great. There is also always a good deal going on for treats. I have yet to use their grooming services so I cannot speak on that. Staff is super friendly and helpful and the rewards program is actually pretty nice. I don't feel like I have to spend an arm and a leg just to earn decent rewards. The return policy is nice as well - I was able to return an open pack of training treats that my dog was not a fan of. Overall, it's a good place to meet your pet's needs. read more

Well, if you can believe it this is my first time in a Petco. I laugh to myself as I think over and over in my head ,this is where the Pets go. That is what the advertisers want right?? Anyway, I had looked it up on line a few days ago to see who carried Blue Buffalo Dog food. This is a natural product made in the USA. Which is becoming hard to find in the pet food world. But, Petco had all sorts of made in the USA, natural products. That makes me happy! I ended up getting 2 bags of different dog food and one bag of snacks. I snacks were cookies made of banana and yogurt. They were pretty high priced at $9.99, the dog food was only $20.00 but oh well. We all know it cost more to eat healthy and that goes for our animals as well. I wanted a Petco card as well since it was my first time and I like coupons ( a lot). The girl that rang us up helped with that. But, then she never put anything in a bag. Or asked us if we wanted a bag , she just left everything on the counter and walked away. So after a bit ,I guessed we were not getting one. That I found strange. Anyway, they have a grooming center there and there was a man giving a dog training lessons and the parents(of the dog) were there learning as well. We had been shopping at Petco for a while and finally we had enough. We walked in to buy dog chips, they have a 1lb bag for 14 and a 8 oz bag for 6.99. We grabbed the 8 oz bag like we always do with the price listed as 6.99 and made our way to the register. Upon waiting in line for 5 minutes while the tattoo manager sat messing with bags and after we said hello how's your night we were finally rung up. Of course the price came up as 15 and change. When we questioned them about pricing she seemed to not even care, but ordered another employee who was diligently working on something else to go fetch the price sticker. Another employee stepped out to ask if she needed any assistance and she berated the man with an insult. As the line then formed and backed up she proceeded to then call for back up help on the register. Finally the young girl comes back and says yeah its 14 for a 1lb and 6.99 for the 8 oz. So I politely thank her and the manager says that will be 14. I pointed to the bag which is clearly labeled as 8 oz. I then said no thank you and proceeded to leave. Upon us exiting the store I stepped in dog crap in the store, and the manager then said well I can sell you this for 6.99 I want you to buy it here instead of somewhere else. Again I said no thank you and we drove the extra mile up to PetSmart. Got more chips for the same price, and was greeted with a nice clean store, friendly service, to the point that now we only bring our business there. The Petco has never been really friendly but their convenient location and prices were okay. Then again PetSmart is cheaper and friendly. read more

I love this place!! I always have great service. Whether I have questions in regards to my puppy or for my fish, they are all very knowledgeable and always willing to help. Their prices are a bit cheaper than PetSmart in comparison. On Saturday's they have pet adoptions with 2DaRescue which is where I adopted my doggy. I highly recommend going through their shelter if you're looking for a furever friend. They take very good care of their animals and rescue pups from high kill shelters. I have had a wonderful experience with both Petco and 2DaRescue. Miranda in grooming remembers my doggy by name every time we go in and he loves her! They do a very good job and he comes out looking all dolled up with a giant smile on his face every time. It's really hard to find all around great service and Petco truly does have that. This Petco is one of the best ones I've ever been to!! Very clean and the employees are remarkably smart! I have to give a shout out to Davin (the dog trainer) although he didn't help me with dog training specifically I was interested in buying a betta fish which seemed so simple to me yet I did not know half of the things that was needed to take care of a betta fish. He took time out of his day to explain to me all of the supplies that was needed to ensure that my fish had a happy and healthy life. Frequent this location--decided to purchase a Black Friday deal--36 gallon aquarium and stand but I was in the wrong vehicle to bring it home. The groomers are very personable and work in a timely manner They do a good job and seem very patient with the dogs. Some of the styles, like the bichon frise cut are not familiar to them but didn't keep them from trying hard. They could go to a style class and learn the ones they don't know and it would put them on top of the grooming game read more
