I held off on this review until after I spoke to management about the extraordinary rudeness of an employee I experienced yesterday. Figured I shouldn't let one bad experience with an employee warrant a bad review so long as management is willing to make things right. After all. I like the business and go there frequently. Well, I went back today and spoke with the manager on duty and I have to say I'm extremely disappointed by her unwillingness to objectively hear my story. Her desire to "protect" the rude employee was more important than listening to the customer. I went out of thway to come talk to her in person rather than hide behind a review. Face to face is better right? Wrong. I can say I've never seen such self righteousness in a customer service roll. He was right. I was wrong. Deal with it. So you win. This is by far the best pet food store in the valley. The staff are amazing and the brands that they carry are the best. My veterinarian put my dog on special food that cost almost $90 a month for his diarrhea and it just kept getting worse. I took him to this place and after some research and talking to the staff started him on a Different kind of food. His diarrhea and gastrointestinal problems have since completely resolved. The Acana brand is amazing-my dog is picky but he loves the dry food and snacks in the Lamb and Apple flavor. The best part, it is made of ONLY 5 ingredients, so I know there Isn't a bunch of crap in it that was put there to reduce production prices. read more

I have done business with this store for years. I recently bought my dog a brand of food she had never tried befor. She would not eat it. I tried for days, my dog was not having it. I brought the food back to the store thinking it would be no big deal to exchange the food. WRONG. Apparently you can only exchange food that has a guarantee written in the package. I was told that I could send the food back to the manufacturer for a refund. I can not believe this is the stores refund policy. Now that I know I will never be back. I've enjoyed shopping here for my dog. They are small and quaint, yet have a good selection of various pet products. On every visit I have been greeted by a staff member. The associates are friendly and definitely know their products. They are a bit more expensive than the big chain stores, but they offer the service that you just don't quite get with those big businesses. DO NOT GET YOUR DOG GROOMED BY ELKE! Just a warning. Don't know why they took down my last post, I thought Yelp doesn't take them down if the company asks. Just to let you know that Elke doesn't disinfect anything. Also, not required to have your shots, so you are taking a chance. The past 3-4 times I took my dog to her, he seems afraid of her. When she last groomed him when I got him and looked him over, she didn't do his feet, part of his sanitary area hadn't been clipped, spurts of uncut hair here and there. When I picked him up and said something about it, even the girl behind the counter noticed it. When I took him back for her to fix it, she had an attitude as she was already working on another dog. The way she then handled my dog was COMPLETELY UNCALLED FOR. I was stunned at her handling of my dog--and that was in front of me! She grabbed him from me and put him on her cart and grabbed his hind legs and was moving him crazy around and kept asking me where it was messed up. I showed her multiple areas that she had missed as she rushed through his groom. She was frustrated and taking it out on my dog. Suddenly, I knew why my little guy was acting so timid. I was going to give her one more chance and stay back there the whole time the next time, since my dogs have only been groomed by her and I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. But, she called to cancel on me a month in advance because of a doctors appt and when I asked to reschedule she used her sick husband as an excuse as to why she couldn't reschedule. Then she stated that it was because I called her out on her rush job. The employee behind the counter said, "well, it's only $50 anyway." As if it being 50 dollars (and tip!) deserved low quality. Anyways, steer clear of her, she has her customers she brought with her and if you are a new customer you WILL NOT get the same treatment. You can get all your good foods and grooming done at PetCo now--all the same brands they carry at Pet Planet. I would get your dog groomed there-at least there they are probably disinfecting in between grooms. Also, she hasn't been properly trained in grooming and taught herself with videos, so if she just shaves your dog down, it is because she is not a professional. In any sort of way. read more

My review is split: I would give 5 stars in general to the store for the food, quality, and helpfulness of the staff. It's pricier than ordering treats from Amazon, but we usually get most of our food here to shop local. Most staff members have been excellent and really helpful with answering our questions about different food. I would give one star (or zero!) for the woman who does the grooming. We brought our little cockapoo in and wanted a typical short cut for him. We used to have him groomed elsewhere but I felt like pet planet was so wonderful for everything else, surely the grooming would be top notch. Our poor little boy's cut was shorter than EVER. It basically looked like he had been buzzed. There is no reason to ever cut a dog's hair that short. It is always nice and soft after a cut, and this was prickly bc of the short length. Seriously. He was extremely uncomfortable when I picked him up (which was late bc the store never called me. They claimed they did and someone else answered my cell phone. I showed them I clearly had no calls from them on my phone, and my number is even on the dog's tag if there was any confusion.) Anyways, if that wasn't bad enough, when we got home our dog kept licking his butt and I finally inspected it and saw that he had been cut while being groomed. It was a pretty good size cut as well, which ultimately ended up with a vet visit, ointment to put on it bc our dog was so bothered by it, and wearing a cone until it healed up. No one mentioned to me when we picked up the dog that he had been cut, so it's extremely infuriating to get home and find that out. Never again will I bring my dog back here to be groomed. I love him too much to put him through that again! And no need, as there are other good groomers around. Definitely disappointing from Pet Planet, though! I expect better from this store. read more

I love this store it gets 5 stars!!! the employees are very helpful! The 1 star is for the lady who does the grooming, I was referred to her and told it would be amend $35-40 formula 6lb dog. I told her I wanted to keep him longer for the winter, just to clean up his face, feet and even him out.... she completely butchered him!!!!!! He is supper short and totally in even!!!! WTF!!!!! She didn't even trip his tail and I was charged $45 for something a child could have done a better job!!! What a waste of time and money!!! read more

I haven't been in before, but they have a loyalty program when you buy 12 bags of dog food, you get the 13th one free. That is a huge savings of you buy the large bags of food. I decided to stop in here recently to buy some dental spray for our dogs as a friend told me about this items and told me that she was only able to get it at Pet Planet soooo I searched for one and lord and behold there was one a mile from work! I stopped in on my lunch hour and Victoria was soooo friendly and extremely helpful as this was my first time to Pet Planet. It was a Tuesday so she told me the specials on the bones and of course I bought 4 and a bag of the bully sticks an the dental spray. My large dog LOVED the bones I got (and the bully sticks) and my other dog wanted to like the bone but it was a tad large for her but is obsessed with the bully sticks and I love how they are cut as it's a perfect treat for them! The dental spray is easy to give to them and they also don't mind it at all. I know I will be back in the very near future to buy more goodies! read more

We bring in our two big dogs for self wash. It's always clean and organized. They have a nice oatmeal conditioner that smells great. When we're done we let the dogs pick out a nice antler or horn to take home. Convenient with good service. read more

I can't say enough about how helpful the employees of this store are! I have a 4 pound chihuahua who is the pickiest eater on the planet! I've struggled to find food that she will eat as long as I've owned her! She is basically like a toddler that will never grow out of that phase. Yelp led us to Pet Planet. We entered with Cookie in tow and Candace took it from there. She fitted her with a harness and leash, helped us find the right crate, toys and food, provided helpful advice to us newbies, and reassured us they would be there in the future should anything we just purchased not be a perfect fit. I like this store because the staff is amazing and knowledgeable of the brands they are selling. My small senior dog experienced some vomiting and the vet recommended changing brands. When I called this location before they opened the staff member picked up the phone and listened to my questions patiently. She then made a recommendation of a brand they sell and offered a sample. Whenever I've had questions the staff here has been super nice and helpful.
