We don't get too many boba places in Hayward and Teaspoon is a pretty solid option! It's located right across from Chabot College, has its own parking lot, a very convenient location. I like how specialized its menu is, not too overwhelming. You can choose from its Classics, which are your staple boba drinks, or Signatures, all very unique and have a good variety of fruity/milky options, OR if you still can't find anything you like, you can create your own drink by choosing a tea, cream (lactose free and oat milk options available), and toppings of your choice. I tried the Creamy Jasmine, which I hoped would be very creamy as suggested by its name but it just tasted like your classic Jasmine milk tea, but still a solid one. I added taro chunks as a topping, which is more like purée rather than chunks btw. I am just not a fan of this place. This is the second location I have tried and the experience does not get better. I got the caramel cream and it was way too sweet and I love sweeter items. Beyond that it was super bland. My son liked his drink which was okay. His dad dot lychee on lychee. The black tea was oversteeped and there wasn't even a whisper of lychee. Limited options in drink selections. The bakery items were all from a factory and they just unwrapped them to make it seem like they were made in house. Hate the location and the space. Located in the same plaza as the new Denny's so parking is chaotic with a much needed repavement of the parking lot. The space itself is beyond small. Everyone and their mother comes in and we all have to squish together to fit inside. I do not like how they put all the drinks in a bag and they never ask anyone if they want their drinks bagged. I actually made it to their grand opening celebration. Customer service was outstanding. The cashier was really friendly. I ordered two Silky Strawberry bobas. It was BOGO which usually never happens! Even better that I had downloaded their app and got a free drink. However I forgot to tell the cashier that I'm lactose intolerant and accidentally ordered my drink with regular milk. Alas it was NOT a fun evening (TMI.... I know, sorry). Nice to see more boba shops popping around the Hayward area. I switch back and forth between green tea and black tea drinks. Today, I did house black tea w/ boba and lychee jelly - they were heavy-handed with the toppings. I don't recommend doing double toppings. The lychee ends up soaking up the tea drink and overpowering it. I have been here multiple times and the drinks are usually solid. Service is always friendly as well. read more

I never tried any of the Teaspoons around the Bay, and my boyfriend told me one opened up recently in Hayward, so my best friend and I decided to slide thru and check it out! I tried the strawberry matcha royale and was satisfied! I appreciate how it's not syrupy when it comes to the sweetness! I also love how the drink itself blended together super well (not to mention the matcha wasn't overwhelming). Despite coming here near closing time and having loads of people making orders, the staff did an excellent job making the drinks in a timely fashion. This is an upscale Boba spot. It has a lot of varieties and even serves Macarons. However I could never order a drink that I truly enjoy. It may be me trying to order something new or fancy from their menu. It either is extremely too sweet or doesn't taste like it has any sugar in it. Somehow I keep coming back to the loyalty program. And I hope next time I can find something that I enjoy. My fiancée never has a problem ordering drinks here. The associates are always super helpful, for recommending drinks to the unfortunate remaking a drink it is completely not what I want. This is the only milk tea place that is even somewhat close by to me. Well, technically there ARE other milk tea chains within a 2-3 miles radius, but they aren't as high quality nor as good as Teaspoon. This location is about 15 minutes from me. Most importantly, I love how consistent their drinks are. My go to drink is the creamy jasmine milk tea with crystal (agar) boba and no matter the time or day, Teaspoon does not disappoint! I'm so happy that they are never a hit or miss and I can count on them to deliver on making good milk tea. A bonus is that they offer the split cups!! So, if you want to try two milk teas and/or cannot decide, you can split your choices. That's pretty creative and neat to me. The location has its own parking lot. There seems to be construction going on across from them, so if you come during rush hour or a busy point of the day... parking can be spotty. But overall, it's easy to find and the store is well kept and clean. I love that there is also a designated line for online orders/pick ups. Lastly, the staff members are always so nice and friendly! They greet you the moment you come in and also give good recommendations. Their recent launch is the ube milk tea line and it looks SO aesthetically pleasing. My only complaint is that one drink can be super pricey... it can range between $6-$7 a cup depending on your choice of add-ons. Therefore, I would recommend coming here to treat yourself once in awhile! read more

I am soo glad they opened in this area! There's not really a good place to find boba around here (closer than 15 mins away) but after trying Teaspoon, there's no need to drive so far anymore. I normally get the Matcha Royale with lychee jelly (less ice, 50% sweet) and it isn't to sweet or bland at all. The Matcha Royale with strawberry is nice too, adding a bit more sweetness to the matcha. Their honey boba is soft & chewy and has a nice flavour as well. They can also adjust the sweetness & ice levels on some drinks! Just see if they can do it on the specific drink you're ordering. On the Matcha Royale, i think they can do "Less ice" but not "No Ice". The service is super quick, we have never had to wait more than 10 minutes even though the line to order was a little long. Employees are friendly as well! Their straws are made of bamboo which is a PLUS, we love an eco-friendly boba place. Tip: Type in your phone number on the keypad, they have cool perks as well! I hate boba plastic cups piling up in the land fill and health risk!!!! So we've bought Teaspoon Bottles and been reusing it together with our other reusable glass bottles in different boba places. Teaspoon in Hayward doesn't want to accept using my "clean reusable teaspoon glass bottles with my other clean reusable bottles," because they said their owner doesn't allow it due to health reasons which is totally Absurd and Foolish!!! When they've accepted it before! Boba plastics and straws, particularly those made from single-use materials, can leach microplastics and harmful chemicals into beverages that leads to health consequences. They're totally hypocritical, pretense of being concern about the environment by selling their reusable bottles. This business cause damage in the health of the environment compared to other boba places that accepts reusable bottles. They are a disgrace and kept filling up the waste land with plastics that will surely have consequences that will affect us all!!!! read more
