Since it has opened (5+ years?) - consistently great tender crunchy chicken legs. 8 piece dark = 4 drumsticks + 4 thigh, slightly salty, great batter/crunch. (Very rarely, will get a drier piece) Mash and gravy, tastes good, but not enough gravy. read more

Solid 3.5 Purchased the 8 piece chicken thighs and drumsticks, 6 biscuits (half and half), large rice and beans, and the Cajun fish and chips (2 pieces of fish, biscuit, and potato wedges). Everything was fresh. I did have to wait about 6 minutes for the Cajun fish. The chicken was hot and crispy. Biscuits were a bit on the sweet side but still good. The rice and beans had a nice kick to it. The Cajun fish also a little thick on the breading but had a nice kick to it. The 2 gentlemen working the counter were very pleasant. Will definitely return. read more

Our friends had recommended this chain to us as the best fried chicken they had ever had so we tried it out post swim. We got two chicken sandwiches to share along with wedges. The chicken sandwiches would have been better with some mayo and it was spicy with some dryness. The potatoes were crispy and huge chunks. Overall, it was good to try and I would grab it when it's convenient. read more

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from a gas station selling chicken and biscuits but man o man!! That chicken was nice and juicy very nice crunch to it. The Lady who was there helping me was very nice and helpful. And the ambiance is....what can I say it's a clean gas station. Very good chicken and biscuits!! read more

Surprisingly good fried chicken for being at a gas station. The honey butter biscuits are a nice touch flaky, buttery, and tasty. Definitely worth stopping by if you're in the area. read more

I wish I could give them 0 stars! Our chicken was not fully cooked. When we called & explained this to the employee: Maria we had also requested that they cook up a fresh batch for us so we wouldn't have to wait long after having to bring back the undercooked chicken they sold us. She was rude and adamant that the chicken could not have been raw and wanted us to bring the chicken back first for inspection. We had no choice so we went back down there and it was then that she apologized and also got another batch. That's should've been the end of it. However, after we got the new batch home: long and behold...the chicken is undercooked AGAIN. Now when I say this, J mean the meat is chewy as you get closer to the bone, which is PINK with bloody-red marrow--just to be CLEAR. We called back and I asked them if they expected us to cook the chicken we paid for, too. Even after this first incident, she was STILL adamant that their cooking process was fine and told me to tell her manager, TOMORROW. They refused to acknowledge their dangerous error or to consider the possibility that there may have been a flaw with their equip ent and/or cooking process. As I am more concerned for the public's health than she is, I am astonished that she dismisses me to sell another customer this chicken before coming back in the phone. 0 accountability on their part, just like what their rating should be. In the meanwhile. I don't know what the outcome will be as my kids consumed some of this undercooked chicken as did I(!). No refund. No reasonable accommodation. No apology. Now I'm forced to do the job I paid for: cook and have concerns of what tomorrow may bring regarding the pieces of uncooked chicken consumed. ***It should also be noted that they built this business with the help of the Muslim community by selling halal, initially. The. When business built up. They stopped using halal chicks to try the lower costs. When this negatively impacted business, they reverted back to selling halal again. I wouldn't advise ANYONE to go hey read more

The Latino male employee always has a positive attitude and provides great service! Thank you for treating your customers well!

This place is a gem in a bustling busy road between Winton st. and Hesperian. Situated in a gasoline station area, you'll never miss it. Only for take-out, just order a bucket and you are good to go! Last thing, the chicken here is so crispy and flavorful. You will ask for another bucket. So if you are craving for one and wanted to venture your taste, try a bucket and you will never regret it and thank me for it! read more

Honestly, everything really was bland for me. It's like most of the places that suppose to sell Southern food in the Bay Area is missing down home flavor in their food. The biscuits didn't taste like honey butter was on it and very dry. The chicken was season-less especially the rice and beans and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes tasted so watered down. I can't come back. read more

Phenomenal chicken, don't be doubted by the premise of eating gas station chicken: this IS the place to try for it.

*****Customer Experience During the COVID-19 Pandemic***** I was running errands in the Hayward/Union City area on 07/11/2020 when I received a text from my fried chicken-loving brother, asking if I could pick up some fried chicken for dinner at this KKC. Knowing how much he wanted this, I obliged. I pulled into the Valero station at the corner of Winton and Hesperian, where this KKC is located, at around 5 pm. Initially, I was hesitant to enter because there was an unsheltered man lying on the ground right outside. But I didn't want to disappoint my brother so I braved it and went inside. Although the interior was small, there was sufficient room for social distancing. Some safety measures were implemented for the safety of patrons and the staff. I ordered a 12-piece chicken tender family meal plus a 16-piece dark box. The total was $40. The family who runs this enterprise was very cheerful and friendly. They left a very good impression with me. While waiting for my food, I was talking to a man who seemed to know his fried chicken. He said out of many KKCs he had tried, this one is the best. The food was pretty decent. The batter of the chicken was very crunchy and the meat was moist and flavorful. The fries (more like wedges) were okay. The biscuits were very good and I especially loved the blueberry ones. I'll definitely return if I'm in the area and would recommend this place to others. There was a whole bunch of gentleman working there. The gentleman that was at the register quickly turned to me and said can I take your order please? I I'm not quite ready yet thank you. He said how many pieces of chicken would you like? I said not just ready yet. Then he began to take my order and I ordered two pieces of chicken and a side of fries. I must say that chicken was very moist very flavorful. The pieces of chicken I had had so much meat on them very delicious seasoned very well. Are usually not a fan of potato wedges however they were very good. And now I'm stuffed five stars thanks crispy chicken read more

We always pass by this place on the way home and one night we decided to try it. Visit was on 7/12/22. The chicken was VERY crispy! However the actual flavor was too salty for us especially on the skin. If the saltiness were dialed down a bit it would have been perfect. Another star down due to the wrong order. We requested for gravy only but was given Mashed potatoes instead. The mashed potatoes were okay. read more

Chile! Gas station chicken? Can I get a hell yes?! I was always super curious about the actual setting of this place. I used to always order delivery because once I tried this chicken at a party, I was impressed. We always order Krispy Krunchy for parties now. This was my actual first time going in to order. This is a typical Valero gas station with the food on display at the register. Tita is taking the order and Tito is frying up chicken in the back. The service is gas station service but the chicken is lit! Tip: Go a little before lunch time. I got there at 12 and was the second in line, but when I got out of line, there were 10 people behind me. I got my food pretty fast. The mashed potatoes and gravy were pretty good and the wedges. The Mac and cheese was just OK and the chicken speaks for itself. I've had my fair share of KFC, Popeye's, Jollibee, Church's and KKC tops them all. I don't think I'm going back. read more

Omg love the chicken! Its located inside a gas station which makes this even better. I can smell the fried chicken goodness across the street from this place; so delicious! It's located in a small plaza off Hesperian/Winton, doors down from Walgreens/Starbucks. Note, guard your valuables here... my fiance saw a purse get stolen at the Walgreens/Starbucks across while he was waiting for his order. Downside, he waited at least 20-30 minutes for his order. He was getting impatient but it must be fresh, right? We bought a bucket of chicken with 2 large sides for about $20. Plenty of foods to feed 3 hungry people or 4 average persons. I wasn't expecting much coming from a fried chicken spot located in a gas station, but the fried chicken here were so juicy and delicious! Had a spicy kick to it. The chicken tasted even better as leftovers when I heated them up in the air fryer. It added that extra crispiness while getting rid of excess oil. The potato wedges were okay... I was hoping for skinny fries. The mashed potatoes tasted like KFC's. Overall I would be back here for the delectable and krispy and krunchy chicken. Now everytime I walk nearby it I can smell the fried goodness wafting from a quarter mile away. YaS! read more

I came here with my husband around 6PM. No line, no wait. At first looking for fried chicken joints, this is the last place I would be like HEY LETS GO HERE! It is located inside the gas station. Yep. A gas station. Again, not the first place I would think of getting chicken but I guess you can't judge it by the store front? HA! I have to say I was not disappointed. It is the BEST cajun style fried chicken I had. We ordered the 12 piece mix dark/white meat. It was a lot for 2 people. I usually don't like chicken breast because it is super dry and not as good as the thighs, wings, or drumsticks. This place though, changed my mind about all meat. The chicken breast was so juicy, tender, and full of flavor. You have to tell me how you do it! Long story short, I will come back. Probably try the other food option and maybe some of their sauces too. read more

Yes folks! Another I hit up! Yum!!! I really like the tiny bit of spiciness And the fact I can snag a half dozen shrimp combo with a biscuit and the chicken. Only thing I don't like is paying 50 cents extra for tarter sauce that is so so! chicken is just plain good! read more

TL;DR: Literally crispy crunchy fried chicken. Very yummy. Thoughts: Located at the Valero gas station in the intersection of Winton and Hesperian, this unassuming place has some legit Cajun style fried chicken! I stopped by here after shopping at Southland Mall nearby on the Black Friday. I ordered the 8 pieces dark meat fried chicken ($8.99); it came with 4 thighs and 4 drumsticks. The service was efficient; I got my order within a minute or two. The fried chicken was BOMB: juicy on the inside and crispy + crunchy on the outside. Being in Cajun style added a nice spicy kick to the flavor. Highly recommended. read more

This Krispy Krunchy Chicken eatery is located in a gasoline station ?!? Yes, Its a bit quirky spot but for a strange reason it works. Once u walk in, you see a display of delicious golden brown fried chicken. The menu is fairly simple: 1) order the number of krispy krunchy chicken pieces you want 2) order your sides or 3) get a combo meal The fried chicken is exactly as advertised, it is Crispy and it is Crunchy. Made fresh and cooked perfectly. Excellent flavors with a slight hint of spice flavors without taking away from the chicken taste. One of my taste test for good fried chicken is having a piece of breast meat. I'm glad to say it was moist and not dry. The crust is not overly thick, it was just right for my liking. Sides are few to choose from just mash potatoes with gravy, biscuits, fried potato wedges, Mac n cheese and I believe red beans and rice. Was wanting more veggie selections but they had none. All-n-all great fried chicken flavors, wish they had more veggie sides, funky location (seating area is closed, u know why) and fast service. So if ur needing gas, full up your tank and full up the family. Also good value for what you get. Check them out for your fried chicken cravings. read more

Gas prices nowadays are crazy I hear and here I am driving up to a gas station in my electric vehicle. The reason I am here is for the fried chicken! Chicken from a gas station? It's delicious and very crispy and crunchy. I ordered via Yelp but it was more pricey (darn you middle person). Definitely will just order in the store the 12 piece was $3 or $4 cheaper. Definitely will be a stop for dinners for the foreseeable future. Chicken was delicious and juicy and doesn't have that strong chicken smell I experience at Popeyes. The batter has a small kick to it which could be the Cajun chicken flavor. For sides, I got the jambalaya and the rice and beans. I will probably not order the jambalaya again ; the flavor was there but a bit artificial jambalaya for me and dry. The rice and beans was good. read more

I have definitely and sadly overlooked this place every time I got gas at the Valero. The old me: "FRIED CHICKEN?!?! at a GAS STATION?!?! WT F ?!" But, a mix of post-gym, and my boyfriend's unwillingness to cook dinner that evening, plus the fact that I needed gas, brought us to Krispy Krunchy Chicken. Let me tell you. I think I like this place better than KFC. It appears a Filipino family owns and runs this. +1 for family-orientation. Their chicken is LITERALLY krispy and krunchy, with a little hint of spice. Between 2 people we got the family pack of chicken which came with 12 pieces of chicken, 6 pieces of tenders, 2 sides (we got mac n cheese and mashed potatoes), and 3 sauces (BBQ, KKC original, and honey mustard). The tenders were also SO JUICY! It was so damn filling and so damn good. We even had leftovers to bring for lunch the following day. We found our new fried chicken spot! read more

I guess it's a sign of the times! Who would of thought that there'd be quality food at a gas station! Granted, it's not a 5 star Michelin restaurant, BUT if you want some really good, quality, fried chicken, then this is the place to be! The chicken was so crunchy and juicy! I didn't get the combo, cause it was my first time, and I wasn't THAT hungry. But I've been wanting to try this place for a while, and I was passing by, so I figured that this was as good a time as any! I got the 3 piece with biscuit, and a small side of waffle fries. The waffle fries were nice and crispy on the outside, while tender on the inside, and properly seasoned! The chicken lives up to the name! That sucker is CRUNCHY!!! Seasoned decently, but a touch greasy, but then again, that's the nature of fried chicken! The surprise was the biscuit! It's a fluffy, flaky, buttery mound of joy! I think it supposed to be a honey biscuit, but tastes like pineapple jam! That was an awesome surprise! If you love fried chicken like I do, or even if you don't but have the urge for some really good fried chicken, then you gotta try this place out! I gotta try the red beans and rice my next trip back! read more

A good point to get a good fried piece of chicken. It's inside a small gas station convenient store, so no chance to eat it there. But around the corner is a Starbucks so grab a bite here and go over to have some ice tea of coffee. And you can sit outside at Starbucks. They are "only" doing Krispy fried chicken. But I have to admit they are very good. And compared to the Colonels chicken they are much more meatier! I did not had any sides today but they have a few like fries, jambalaya, mashed potatoes. All looked good but I can't judge them. The order came with a fresh fluffy, tasty biscuit and I have chosen a sweet and sour sauce for dipping. The sauce has a nice kick and there was so much meat that the sauce almost wasn't enough. So if your into fried chicken, try the tenders the area very good. One star away since this is not a restaurant just a pickup Station and it looks a bit shady, but what they are doing they are doing five star. And everything behind the counter looks clean! read more

OMGosh!!' I can not believe this gas station sells such good fried chicken! To be honest, my favorite is the blueberry biscuits. Soooooo good! How good? I was super full from the fried chicken that I couldn't even eat another bite, so I got up, walk around a bit and sit down to continue eating the biscuits. It's like a hybrid of blueberry scone and blueberry muffin - just prefect. Back to the chicken, they were well marinated. the crispy skin was so full of taste, and the chicken itself is so juicy and a hint of spiciness. The fries - not a huge fan. The line is pretty confusing. both cashiers can take order so people are kind of like all over the place trying to order fried chicken. read more

There are some of us would rather have great food than great atmosphere. Not that I have anything against nice decor, cloth table cloth, linen napkins and wait staff in suits but when food is more important than trying to get full with my eyes only, this place will not disappoint! I give this place a try because a friend suggested it. I thought like many others, "fried chicken at a gas station?" It took me about a year of driving past this location before saying, what the heck, give it a try. Yelpers can't be wrong right? Walking in, immediately to your left is the order counter. The staff was friendly and ready to take your order. The cooking staff was to the rear left separate from the gas station snack shop on the right. Looking at the menu, there were quite a bit of choices from chicken, fish, biscuits, desert items and of course soft drinks. Since I came to try the chicken that's what I left with. First impressions, compared to the fast food competition (KFC, Church's, Popeye's) the portions were much larger for about the same cost. Plus 1! The chicken was hot and as the name says, Krispy! The meat is slightly spicy since this is a Cajun restaurant, that was expected. Compared to Popeye's I would say this was slightly spicier but not as greasy. I should have done the paper towel test to see how much oil will come off before eating but I was too eager to get it into my belly! I prefer dark meat but if chicken breast is done right, I won't turn it down. Can't argue that if white meat is over cooked its torture to get it down. No amount of spice can change the texture of dried out string cheese IMO. But good news was this wasn't the case here. It wasn't juicy in the sense of chicken broth spilling out with the first bite but it wasn't over done. Even reheating it the next day, it wasn't too bad. Good job KKC! When I was recently driving to Reno, I noticed other KKC locations! There are literally dozens in CA, so you can get your KKC fix almost anywhere! https://www.krispykrunchy.com/locations/ So bottom line, if you enjoy slight spicy krispy krunch fried chicken, don't hesitate to give this franchise a try. It won't disappoint. read more
