20936 Mission Blvd Hayward, CA 94541 Vons Chicken in Hayward is serving up sizzling hot and tasty chicken! I was at this location at the Creekside Center on a Friday night around 8pm. This Vons restaurant is actually very small, and has only two tables in their dining area. This Vons is run by the same people who previously ran the Castro Valley location. In fact, some of the old reviews and photos are included in this Yelp listing. I ordered a Half Order of Fried Chicken w/ Garlic Soy Glaze, Medium Spicy, and a Combo of Drums and Wings. Also, an order of Onion Rings and a soda. My order was ready in 15-minutes, and I was thanked by the staff for coming to their new location. I was encouraged to eat my fried chicken there, to fully enjoy it's freshness. OMG, that chicken was sizzling HOT. Too hot to eat! The Onion Rings were crispy and crunchy. The chicken was super crispy and juicy. Vons is fried food heaven if you love fried chicken! Yes, I agree with Vons, to fully enjoy your food you must get your food fresh from the kitchen. Sizzling hot and fresh! That's the way it's intended to be enjoyed. So get down to Creekside Center and get some fried chicken! It's on Mission Blvd near Mattox Rd. Near I-238 and I-580 freeways, and down the hill from Castro Valley. Lots of free parking. Support local business!
One of the best fried chickens in the biz! Authentic korean flavor, crispy, and addicting! The honey butter crisp is definitely one of my top favorites. Hopefully, I'll try their other flavors soon. They do catering!
So good and so dangerous being right down the street... The honey butter dusted fried chicken is like if Crispy Crunchy and farmer's market kettle corn had a beautiful baby. Do yourself a favor and get some spicy kimchi rice with your chicken for that hot sauce style heat on the side. Bomb!

Fried Chicken was a hit with my family. Placed a phone order and ready within 15 mins. Plenty of parking and conveniently located in a shopping center close to freeway off ramps. Ordered the crispy honey chicken and yangnyum. The pieces were just wings or drumsticks. My confusion or assumption was when it says "half or full," I thought it was half or whole chicken cut up because in LA it is done that way. Price-wise is on average with wingstop but the proportion is tastier and bigger. Definitely more money's worth in comparison. Half order comes with a large cup of pickled radish and full comes with two. Will try other options in the future.

Their soy is more salty than sweet. Fried chicken wings: the soy glazed was salty and not as crispy Sweet potato fries with cheddar: probably need to fry it a bit longer. It was soggy and not enough cheddar (extra cost for cheddar) You know the location is not the greatest when you see police security cameras all over the parking lot but there's plenty of parking spots.

All I can say is "WOW" !!!! This is definitely my new Go To for chicken wings!!!! The place was clean and very quiet. The man who took me and my mom's order was nice. The wait time was 10-15 and it was worth the wait! The food is cooked to order! FRESH AND EVERY BITE HAD A NICE CRUNCH TO IT, just how I love it! I had the half order of the Crispy Yang Nyum which comes in 10 pieces and you can order the Yang Nyum in regular, mild or spicy. I ordered spicy! It had a sweet to spicy taste and it wasn't drowned in the sauce. It was perfect! My mom order the HONEY BUTTER CHICKEN!! That flavor is soooooo good! Thats a much try. I've never even heard of honey butter as a flavor for chicken wings before and if you haven't heard of it either, this is the place to try it at! 10/10!!!!!!!!!!!
This location is only take out only. And it's the first location that I've seen there is a meal Special Going on for $12.99 for any time They are open. Good deal. I got 5 honey butter fried wings with crispy fries and coleslaw. Hubby got the cheddar fried chicken wings with kimchee fried rice and coleslaw. It also came with a drink that you pick out of their fridge. What a deal. Usually when I go to Von's they nickel and dime me on $1 more for Wings. $1 more to to get 1/2 Honey butter and 1/2 Cheddar. At this Von's they don't do That. Once we got our Order the wings were hot and crispy and good size. The fries were really crispy too. The coleslaw had no flavor. The kimchee fried rice was a little stuck together but had a nice little spicy kick to It. Also, this Von's does not have a restroom and it's not located in The best part is the town. If you need to use a restroom, go to the 99 cent store.
I haven't been here since they moved from Castro Valley and I have to say, I was very disappointed. I used to visit frequently. I did a full order of boneless chicken to go, half soy garlic and half yangnyum, and WOW was it dry and somewhat flavorless. There was a sign on the register that said 50 cents for extra sauce but really? There was barely on the chicken to begin with - only one side of most of the chicken had sauce on it. I didn't think I needed to ask for it to be coated on both sides. It used to come drenched in sauce. I made it home within 10 minutes and the chicken wasn't *super* crispy like it used to be (even after it sitting out a while). The boneless pieces seem to be smaller than what they used to be while the prices went up...inflation is understandable but I noticed I was charged more than what the website posted as well as the to-go menu that I received in the bag. Please update your pricing. The customer service was pleasant but that doesn't save the chicken. I'm sorry to have to say I probably won't be back. If I do, it'll be at a different location - hopefully the recipes haven't changed everywhere. Like a previous reviewer said, the soy garlic was salty and did not have any sweet notes (like it used to). $36 after tax for 20 subpar fried chicken tenders...I could get a better meal elsewhere. Sorry :(
Okay. I am shocked to report how delicious Vons Chicken is!!!!! I have trust issues with food chains because ya never know if the quality can be trusted, but Vons was bussin! Their chicken is $16.99 for a half order. You can choose between three spicy levels as well as four kinds of half orders (10pcs boneless, combo of 3 drums+4wings, 5pcs drumsticks, or 10pcs wings). They even have oven roasted if you don't want fried. On this chicken delivery, we ordered a half order of crispy fried chicken mild, a half order of crispy yangnyum medium spicy, and honey butter french fries. The medium spicy was spicy! You have been warned! Delicious nonetheless! The pickled radish will be your bestie. Drink the liquid that comes with it as well:) I wish we ordered honey butter crispy chicken because it was that addictingly good!

I had a sudden craving for Korean fried chicken but my husband was too busy to go pick up the food so we ended up placing the order through a food delivery app. We normally order from the Fremont location but it looks like they no longer (or maybe it was just that day) cater to that food delivery app so we ended up choosing this location. We ordered the full size of the soy garlic chicken drumsticks and when the food arrived, it was still hot and crunchy. As for the taste, it was on the salty side. At the Fremont location, we always get pickled daikons and coleslaw but at this location, they only gave us pickled daikons. I did do some research online and it stated that Vons is a franchise so I'm confused on why the coleslaw was missing. read more
I honestly think Vons Chicken is better than Bonchon. My go to order is their crispy fried chicken, extra hot. It's already packed with heat and flavor, but I still ask for extra hot sauce on the side just to dip it even more. It's nothing fancy. Just simple, crispy, spicy, and seriously delicious. Definitely hits the spot every time. read more
I was craving fried chicken and got the crispy fried chicken and the garlic fried chicken (both half) to go. I left the chicken out for almost 2 hours and it was still so good and flavorful. I definitely recommend this spot, they have good size drumsticks but the boneless are on the smaller side. read more

B Crispy Chicken - Spicy - oil is not a old as Bonchon - chicken skin perfectly crispy and crunchy - sauce and flavor was good, I just wished there was more of it, I like it a little stickier - chicken was juicy!! Overall would totally come back to try their different flavors! read more

Yesterday I had a huge craving for chicken wings, so we decided to make a pit stop in Castro valley before Heading home to The Valley from Oakland. Dammm these we're some bomb ass wings! We enjoyed every single item we ordered off the menu. We ordered; Half order fried Crispy Garlic chicken wings 10pc Half order oven Vons special sauce hot 10pc Half order fried crispy YANGNYUM 10pc Honey butter French fries 2 canned sprites. Our favorite of the order were the YANGNYUM! Man we're those wings good. All of them were fantastic. The fried wings were super crispy and piping hot! The baked wings were spicy that thank goodness for the ranch to cool it down. The French fries were something so different that I hadn't tried before but not in a bad way. Slightly sweet crispy and salty, mm yum. I would definitely order them again. It's a bit hard for me to describe the flavors since I've never had Korean wings before coming here but all of them were really good. I do have to say this place is pretty pricy. I wasn't expecting it to be around $ 70.00 for some chicken wings. They were really good in size which made up for it but still good too know for people who want some wings. They came with coleslaw and pickled radishes. The coleslaw was a bit bland. It did help with the spiciness from the wings but by itself it wasn't that great. The pickled radishes we're my favorite so refreshing and crunchy. If we are ever in Castor valley we will absolutely be making a stop to grab some wings. read more

Complimented the chicken so well! - well seasoned and very crispy Radish and Coke Slaw sides - pickled radish is a great Banchan to every Korean fried chicken meal - coleslaw lacked flavor but was still vegetables so I ate it haha Overall, WONDERFUL place but I'm gonna miss that sondobu jigae that used to be here !! Review is for Doordash: I had a craving for chicken and someplace new to Yelp, so why not try Vons. Its a fast food place famous for KFC (Korean Fried Chicken), along with oven-roasted versions. I liked the variety of glazes and flavors offered. You can tell you can go from relatively plain, to sweet, vinegary, to scorching hot. I got the half order of Oven-Roasted Garlic drums and wings. 7 pieces total - three wing flats, two smaller wing drums, and two full-sized drumsticks. It had a bit more sweet glaze than I like, and the sweetness seemed to overwhelm any sense of garlic. However, I did find the meat to be juicy and the flavors were good. I am definitely open to trying their other flavors. 4 stars. read more
Ordered the full size of the crisp fried wings with honey butter and the regular fried chicken. They charge extra $1 for wings only. Each order was about $27 to $29 for a full order (wings only). The honey butter was tasty and has a good amount of sweetness. It comes with radish and coleslaw. Overall, it was good but a bit too expensive. This was during COVID, so it was only take out only. To-go order boxes were taped. The owner was very friendly. It has a decent size parking. I believe this used to be soondubu spot. read more
I love this Korean fried chicken spot! There are two main foods I'm passionate about - pasta/noodles and fried food - but also particularly fried chicken! While I haven't explored too much outside of particular flavors that I like so far, I have a good hunch that any flavor ordered would be just as amazing. My particular favorite is the honey butter chicken. If sweet is your thing, which I get that it's kinda different when it's on chicken, it's actually got the right amount of sweetness to it and the chicken is always fried to perfection in my opinion. Their fries are always on point too. Love the crunchy crispiness all around. I liked the garlic butter as well, but I always crave the sweet honey butter change-up from the regular chicken flavors you can probably find elsewhere. I've yet to try the soy garlic, but I'm sure it's good. I find it very interesting that Von's chicken is right next to another Korean fried chicken spot though, Chicken on Fire. That restaurant is actually really good too, so the competition must be kinda tough. Their chicken options though, while similar, they are pretty different. read more

I think we found our favorite Korean fried chicken spot in the East Bay. We are usually bon chon chicken lovers but Vons is definitely giving them a run for their money. We ordered to go; no indoor seating. We got the honey cheese and garlic wings. Super crispy with perfect amount of batter. Wing size were pretty big. Friendly service; will be back! read more

Vons Chicken has been my go to for fried chicken since the start of this shelter in place. They make a mean crispy fried chicken and crispy garlic chicken. The spicy level is the perfect amount of spice. Orders of fried chicken come with coleslaw and pickled radish on the side. I did manage to dine here before the SIP. At that time, I tried the yangyum chicken, which was a bit too sweet and saucy for me. Service was also lacking, which was also an issue I had when this place used to be a Korean tofu house. However, since the SIP, I have ordered takeout twice and have not had any issues. I was surprised that they became a fried chicken place since The Chicken on Fire is on the same block as them. If I were to compare the two, I'd say The Chicken on Fire does better on service and on the more saucy flavors. However, when it comes to crispy fried chicken and crispy garlic chicken, Vons takes the prize. Will continue to do takeout from here for my fried chicken cravings. Until then! read more

Ordered takeout over the phone on a Wednesday afternoon and the order was ready in 20 min. Since it was a takeout order, I am sure the fried chicken would've been much better if I was able to dine in. I got the crispy yangnyum and crispy garlic chicken 3 drums lunch special with radish and fries. Just a heads up, they charge a dollar extra per order if you get any flavor that isn't the original crispy chicken flavor. Taste wise, I I prefer the garlic chicken over the yangnyum. The yangnyum flavor tasted artificial and too sweet for my preference. Overall, the chicken is tender and well seasoned. The size of the drum is big enough. The fries are well seasoned as well. It's not super oily overall. The radish has the perfect sweet to sour ratio but it wasn't crunchy enough. I made my own salad to go with the order and with that, the food portion was perfectly enough for three people. read more
Delicious Korean Fried Chicken...the last time I had Von's (abt 7 years ago) was at a Korean restaurant in San Carlos that offered their signature chicken. Crispy and crunchy with a sweet, soy glaze. Now, a Von's in Castro Valley at the former, Tofu House (same owners) on the main thoroughfare, Castro Valley Blvd. Half order of wings with kimchi fried rice and house salad easily feeds 2 people. Von's offers fried and oven-baked chicken with choice of wings, drumsticks or boneless chicken. Pick your level of spiciness of mild, medium, spicy...chose the medium and it was fiyahhhh! I finally made it to Vons Chicken.... I feel like I have traveled 1000 miles even though they are 20 minutes away. A place you pass by everyday... but sometimes don't see. This is Vons... a nightly tucked squared off building between other buildings. This is like your new best friend that whispers in your ear only to you. VONS, is a gem a diamond in the rough. Small staff creating some of the best chicken that you will ever have. Very flavorful, when you inside, it smells good like grandma/grandpas house. I ordered the 1/2 crispy fried chicken. Wings & legs...they were both big portions ok. This ain't KFC.....you will get full on 1/2 easy. The taste... is like wow! I have never had a tasty crispy piece of chicken as this. It's sudden appearance in CV definitely was surprising, but with it's popularity in the South Bay does intrigue me for how it'll do (especially being near Chicken on Fire). There isn't much crowding now as it's opening was kind of sudden, I'll definitely miss the Tofu House that was here :( Service is pretty quick and friendly, definitely gave us a warning for extra spicy but it's our own grave to dig. They currently do not have an oven yet but it has been ordered, will give a bit of time before trying the oven cooked chicken. Final Thoughts: I'm intrigued for the fact that it's so close to Chicken on Fire. read more

They are not full size chicken wings. It is the drummette and flat sections only, not the tip.
