Came for lunch on a Saturday at 12pm and we were the first ones. By the time we left around 1pm, there was a good amount of customers. We ordered the half and half chicken $33, kimchi jjigae $20?, tteok-bokki $16. The chicken pieces were huge. Perfectly fried, batter was thin, juicy meat, good flavor. The original flavor was a bit salty though. The tteok-bokki rice cakes were the perfect chewy texture. Kimchi jjigae was good and was what you would expect. The banchans were excellent. 11 different kinds and they have no problem refilling them as well. Service was great. Staff are all so friendly and kind. Medium sized restaurant, very clean, indoor seating only. Private parking lot with plenty of spaces. Would go back for sure
Fried chicken here is amazing! However the service is okay. We came from LA where things are closed later and since the hours said 9pm, we thought arriving at 8:15 wouldn't be a problem. They told us that the kitchen closes at 8:30 so we could only do takeout. But thankfully my Korean husband worked his magic and we were able to be seated. Because of this, we felt the service and experience was very rushed. Let's talk about the food first. Banchan was good and a lot of variety. Nothing stood out to us as amazing or egregious. We got the full combo of original flavor and a half order of the soy sauce garlic one, and they were so juicy and crispy. We ordered the super spicy Maip Dak but they came back to us saying it will take too long so we had to remove that. They also didn't let us order the Galbi sauce fried chicken bc they didn't want to make the sauce. We ordered mixed soondubu and the seafood one but both were bland yet peppery. It was raining so we settled for whatever soup we could get. Overall, I would come back earlier to try their other chicken dishes even though our service was rushed this time. I really want to try the Maip Dak because I love a dry chili rub chicken. I'll just have to come earlier! Side note: how can a business sell soju yet close at 9pm. Just a thought
It was one of my friend's birthday so I texted her to see if she wanted to meet up for lunch. Over the years, we tried a variety of ethnic food together but haven't had Korean food. Since my friend loves fried food, I suggested this place. We showed up on a Friday, roughly 12:30pm. The place was about half full (about 6 tables, with 1-2 customers per table). As soon as we were seated, we were told to place our order on the tablet that was placed on our table. We ordered half order of the soy sauce & garlic chicken drumsticks, spicy pork (came with a bowl of rice) and a side of rice. Our meal came with 11 banchans but I thought 2 of them did not coincide with the Korean theme (boiled broccoli & macaroni salad). In terms of flavor, everything was good. I, originally thought the spicy pork would be too spicy for my taste but it wasn't spicy at all. As for service, it was super slow. After we sent our order in, we didn't get banchans or water until the fried chicken drumsticks were ready. We literally sat there for at least 30 minutes with nothing on our table. Then the spicy pork took another 30 minutes to arrive. We didn't leave the restaurant until 2pm. While other people got their orders, ate and left, we were the only customers left but the waitress didn't bother clearing any of the tables (even the table that was diagonal to us where the customer left an hour ago). The food is good but I would not come back here as a dine in customer.
Service: always had to tag them to get attention. their service is very slow. Food: ordered glass noodles, pan fried sole, potstickers, grilled beef ribs combo with tofu soup, and seafood pancakes. it took an hour or more to make it to the table. The only thing that was good was grilled beef ribs. Do not recommend the pan fried sole. It tasted bad with a lingering smell. Seafood pancakes were so thick and it's mainly flour and not many pieces of seafood. Pan fried Glass noodles was too salty. Mainly noodles and not much of beef. Tofu soup was the last item to arrive to the table and it was watery and it was like warm soup. Such a disappointment. I used to enjoy coming here for Korean food cravings but I cannot say the same anymore.
This restaurant is split up into 2 sections, one for KBBQ and the other for a la carte. We ordered a la carte and shared meat, wings, and a bunch of appetizers. I love that they offer a variety of banchan! Our server was so friendly to us.
I decided to take my cousins out for some Korean chicken and beer; this place did not disappoint. The server was so sweet and very attentive. She took very good care of us. We ordered some beer, Sodduck, Japchae, and the half original and half yang nyum chicken. I fell in love with the Sodduck. It was so good that I ordered two more, lol. On to the chicken, both flavors were amazing. My cousins love spicy food so the yang nyum was perfect for them. The other half of this restaurant is Korean bbq. There is also this mirror where my cousins and I took a cute pic together. Even our server took a picture of us. This was an amazing meal, and I am glad I finally tried out their chicken. It's been part of them since Covid and it's just now that I tried them and it did not disappoint.
My family and I had a wonderful Sunday lunch here. The owner is very friendly and hospitable. Food is delicious with plenty of parking. We will be back! Below is what we ordered. First time at this location and it was nice. We arrived on a less busy day and just a few guests inside. The staff attended to us quickly. Our food arrived piping hot and we started to dig away. The food was delicious and our portions were hearty. The banchan was wonderful and was a great spread. The chicken is the showstopper here. I liked that the sauce was less sticky than other shops. It looks to be family owned and operated so supporting this small business was great. I am not in this area often enough but would certainly consider going back if I am!
Came here with some friends right before their happy hour ended but Gina was so nice and decided to honor it for us anyhow! She also brought us soooo many bonchons (note you do have to order an entree for bonchons) We ordered a lot of food which did take some time to trickle out but we understand as Gina seems to be the only server that night. Korean pancake - 4.5/5 I loved this one cause it was thick and very crispy. My friend did say she prefers the pancake at Sisters House tho because it's thinner there Tofu soup - 3.5/5 it was a lil underwhelming and not salty enough and I feel it was missing a little depth of flavor. My friend and I both prefer the tofu soup at Sisters House BBQ Pork Sizzling Platter - wasn't very well charred. I don't usually get sizzling platters but the ones at Sisters House is better The fried chicken - 4.5/5 very good! I liked the crispiness of the chicken and inside was juicy. You do have to pay extra $2 for flavoring or for it to be crispy so keep that in mind. We did dip this into our tteokbokki/sausage sauce which Gina recommended Tteokbokki/sausage skewers - 3/5 I thought it was just okay for the price of what it was lol. I don't love the sausage but the tteokbokki did have a nice lil crisp to it on the outside but with that familiar chew once you get to the center
We loved everything we ordered. Service was fast and friendly. Ambience is casual. Family night here is easy.
With a Korean spot with "chicken" in the name, I knew it was going to be challenging finding something plant based for myself. However, Ttobongee proved to have some options so we were able to make it work. We ordered their Japchae ($18) and the Tteok Bokki without fish cakes ($17), which they assured was fully vegan. The japchae was able to be made vegan as indicated on the menu. The glass noodles were a great dish - lots of sesame flavor and a large portion served. However, our tteok bokki was far less impressive and frankly completely overpriced for what we got. It ended up being a bowl of rice cakes with some cabbage and spicy gochujang soup. The sauce was not thick at all and I was shocked that something so simple could be so pricy. They also didn't allow any substitutions for the fish cakes which I'd argue is where a majority of the cost covers. Additionally, because we did not order a "main entree" despite these being just as expensive as a sundubu or other plate, they refused to offer us the full set of banchan. My Mom was disappointed as this is her favorite part of a Korean meal and there was nothing that said this to be the case. Overall, two stars for the experience but I'll make it three because of the japchae. I likely won't return unless we order these noodles to go.
We love this place!! Been here twice so far since they had Ttobongee Chicken attached We love their kbbq table- they have charcoal grill which adds a smokey flavor to the meats We usually get the short ribs and pork belly to grill at the table Diff grill used especially because of the fat from the porkbelly Vu the server is awesome! Super attentive, quick and informational The owner is also really nice They would volunteer to grill and cut our meats for us The owner would also give tips on how to eat like an authentic korean when we are grilling our meats Their meat is very fresh and the side dishes are very delicious The owners kimchi is infamous- one of my fav place for homemade kimchi Dont get me started on the chicken We have had bone-in and bone-less Highly recommend the honey soy flavor for boneless and the original flavor for bone-in Super delicious and the service there is A1 Has always been consistent and friendly Please stop by and try it out! read more
They added touch screen ordering at each table, and the jap chae is still super amazing taste wise, and while it is the slowest thing they make fresh, just enjoy it when you slirp the yummy black peppery infusion! Of course, get the korean fried chicken that they are known for! The crunch on that original is so memorable, and their sauced one will burn just right! Yes, beats bon chon chain by miles! The tofu soup is amazing, you might want to ask no veggies. The two servers bring everything in an amazing tempo, refilling the ban chan and the drinks fast! The only issue is the dark single bulb blinking bathroom that shadows the nice decor they fixed up. Always a favorite, and worth the cost! read more

Been to this restaurant a couple times with family and friends a couple years ago. Never disappointed. A few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I were craving korean food late night and ran into this place again. It's less busier now but service is always top notch. Thank you to the lady for being so accommodating and helpful with us. I was kind of unsure what type of sauce I wanted for the kfc but she brought out a bit for me to try. We had a really enjoyable experience with the service and food! Our new fav date spot! I really recc coming to support before they close soon. read more

This place is divided into 2 sections, one is for Korean bbq and that's what we tried. Meat is okay, a little on the pricey side. We tried their fried chicken and it's really good. They have the best japchae. Service is friendly but can be a little slow, there's only 1 server during our visit. read more
My bf went in person to order to-go because their phone kept going to voicemail. It's understandable since it was a Saturday night around dinner time. This location is connected to Korea House which has galbi tang for a great price and tastes great (not pictured here bc I went in the past as well). Food: We love the appetizer sodduk sodduk which is sausage with tteobokki on skewers! Each order comes with 2 skewers, so we got 2 orders :) Those never disappoint and always hit the spot! I got the jalapeño chicken (half order) and my bf got the soy garlic chicken (half order) I think. He tried one of my chicken drums and though he liked it, it was a bit too sweet for his taste. He enjoys savory things to be entirely savory lol. The soy garlic chicken was to his liking though! I loved the jalapeño chicken, quite spicy after eating a few. We typically like wings over drums, so it was a bit disappointing that he only had 1 wing and I had 2 wings out of ~14 wings total. I know the drums have more meat but the wings have more flavor ;-; Overall, food is always good! My bestie text me out of the blue and asked if I was free to go eat with her + her bf. Let's go! I've had Ttobongee in Santa Clara but didn't know there was one in Hayward. This location is shared with Korea House so there's the option to cook Korean bbq! Our party of 3 was seated on the right side where the bbq grills are located on table tops fit for 6+ people. The left side with regular tables was full at 3:30pm on a Saturday. Eats: *Sodduk Sodduk-- skewers of rice cakes & smokies sausage with sweet n spicy sauce *Gal bi tang soup-- short ribs with a bit of thin glass noodles in a heartwarming clear broth, reminded me of Filipino nilaga TBH *Full order of The Crispy-- extra crispy fried chicken, came with lots of drumsticks and a few wing flats Since it was an odd time to eat, the food arrived a bit slower than expected, probably due to less cooks prior to dinner. We did get lots of complimentary banchan, around 12 kinds! The Suddok Suddok arrived first, then soup, and finally chicken. We were given one cup of rice, which we all shared and didn't even finish. Service was friendly from the ladies serving us. They even offered to move us to an empty table on the left side later on in case the exhaust noise bothered us. The family dining next to us was cooking bbq and the smell of smoke nostalgically reminded me of Vegas. Gosh, I miss that place lol! They have their own private parking lot so that's a major plus. The workers here are so friendly! We came mid-day, a late lunch, and ordered a half order of yang nyum chicken (sweet Korean chili sauce) and sooduk sodduk (rice cake with sausage). Both were delicious and it came with banchan too. I'm not sure if it usually comes with banchans but the ladies were kind enough to drop some off for us! The chicken took a little longer to come out since they freshly fried it but we just snacked on the banchan as we waited. The restaurant is pretty big so it could fit big groups of people if you wanted. Not my favorite Korean chicken wing place but for the service and quality, it's still pretty good and I'd recommend checking this place out! read more
Another local place I've been wanting to try. This used to be the Korea House on A street. It's now TTOBongee Korean Fried Chicken. We ate here on 1/20/23 (Friday Night) I'm giving it three stars for three reasons..... 1. Really love the Spicy Shredded Beef soup. Packed with flavor and full of beef. It's got a kick but they can make it hotter and or mild if you request. The bowl was large enough that I couldn't finish it. It was two full meals for me. 2. The lovely ladies that work there. They Hustled their butts off. One was actually running to accommodate just about everything she could. I'd swear they were back cooking the food. 3. Absolutely loved the Banchan. These are the little side dishes generally served with Korean food. Now for the reasons why it's not more stars.... 1. This place was freezing inside. I don't known if the heat was off or broken or what but it was warmer outside. It was uncomfortable. 2. There was a long wait. I don't blame the ladies working there. Whoever owns this needs to get on it and hire more. We waited roughly 20 mins for our order to be taken and then a good 40 minutes for our food. I didn't even get the beer I ordered until the food came. These ladies hustled but it really seemed they were trying to accommodate Uber eats and take out over the inside guests. I know I heard one table say they waited over 90 mins to get everything they ordered. Get these folks some help. All in all the food was good. We also had some wings and the beef soft tofu soup. The wings were good had decent flavor but needed to be more crispy. The soft tofu soup was ok. Nothing special. I'd definitely try it again. However, only of the they fixed the things above. I love supporting local business. They also have a Korean BBQ where you cook you own meats. It a bit separated from the dining area where I sat but it smelled good and was really nicely vented. Maybe that's why it was cold? If so for that I'm grateful. read more

Wanted to escape traffic, so I hit the back streets. While blindly navigating I noticed this spot sitting on the corner. I was undecided on what to eat, so I figured it must have been in the stars for me to eat here today. The staff was very pleasant, and super attentive. The food was delicious, the sides were so good. It literally brought back memories of when I spent a total of 3 years in Korea. I definitely have to add this place on my list of foodie spots. read more

This place is legit crazy expensive ... One tofu soup and a half and half Korean fried Chicken order. That is all we've ordered . Total comes out to be $75 tax and tip included As you can see, it does come with a lot of side dishes and they are very tasty so when calculating the cost into making the small side dishes it makes sense why the cost is so high. Customer service is good. Just be prepared so you're not surprised when the bill comes in. If your account for $40 a person for dinner at this location you will definitely be happy. I am surprised to find how much this place charge it is definitely much higher than I have originally expected. Yes it is a little cold ... But that is because you're sitting on the other side of the restaurant. Some other review have complained the restaurant is too cold but they did not take into an account that this is also a Korean barbecue restaurant on the other side where they have to keep it cool because you do have basically a fire pit in the middle of the table. Overall experience is good just not so sure it was really worth that much price. read more

TTO BONG EE Chicken is a chain known for their Korean-fried chicken and offered thru Korea House in Downtown Hayward. First time trying this chicken chain so decided to get the half order of the TTO BONG EE Original (wings only) as that's always a good starting point...crispy, juicy, meaty with a light fry but have to say flavor-wise was not a fan....I'm not sure if there's a seasoning I'm not a fan of or the oil they use....hmmm, I've tried many other Korean-fried chicken places in the area and prefer those...I know...it's their grand opening but just a preference... I'll definitely return to try other flavors and variations but sadly, not rushing to get the chicken...since they are located in Korea House, I'll stick with their LA-style shortribs and japchae for now. read more

We ordered The Crispy half order to share. The chicken was alright, small pieces, with a small breading batter. It came with radishes which was refreshing. No other ban Chan. Some pieces were cooked better than others. I wouldn't come back for the chicken. read more

It's my first time eating here and oh goshhhh the chicken is sooooooo good !! The chicken is super flavorful and also crispy ! I highly recommend doing the spicy one ! We got half half with a side of radish ! Highly recommend to those who loveeee chicken to come here !!! read more

Their chicken is always fresh, juicy and good. I think this is only place use non frozen chicken. Other chicken places are ok but not good as this place. read more
