It's been years since I've been to a Sonics, so we decided to stop by for their SONIC Blasts. I used to go to the one in Woodland back in college. I remember loving their tator tots and slushies. They also roller skated your orders to your car, but I guess they no longer do that,which is a little disappointing. I was craving soft serve all day so the Turtle Truffle Nut Blast hit the spot. The soft serve was creamy and milky and was not too sweet. The almond filled chocolate truffles and praline toasted almonds combined well with the dessert. We ordered a small and it was more than enough for the two of us. Service was fast and efficient. We parked in one of the many stalls and ordered from there. I haven't been to Sonic for a very long time. I heard that you can park and order from the menu, but I decided not to do that and go through the drive through. They don't have a dining room, but just the kitchen. I ordered a medium combo, but the fries seem to be more of like a small size than a medium. Pretty much the food is mediocre just like any other fast food restaurant. I don't really get the hype of this place. Everything here seems to be outdated in atmosphere and probably needs to get renovated. It's like they never changed it for decades. I use to like their food here but as of lately it's always cold when they give it to you. (I don't understand why their cheeseburgers are always cold----lukewarm at best). If you get a big order you can guarantee something will be missing. They don't have the best customer service at this location but I still come back for their desserts. Recently visited Sonic's after a concert and it was honestly a pretty good experience! We arrived around 11pm and only the drive thru was open. Was not our first time at Sonic's but I'm giving a high rating due to how all the fried items were not drenched in oil and not overly greasy. We tried the pickle seasoned fries, cheesy garlic pepperoni bites, ched 'r' peppers, corn dog, and Sweet Topped Blueberry Lavender Lemonade from their summer sips menu. I love pickles so the pickle seasoned fries were interesting. A bit sour but not overwhelming in my opinion. The pepperoni bites were just okay but we liked how it wasn't greasy. The ched 'r' peppers aka jalapeños poppers were pretty fire. The corn dog is your standard corn dog but I think they forgot ketchup but it was fine. The lemonade was actually really good. This is the first time I have been to Sonic. I ordered a cheeseburger with no onions, my Mom ordered other type of burger with no onions. Now in the kitchen they carefully toast the buns, cook the patties, melt the cheese, dice the onions. PAUSE... Nobody ordered onions in any of the food but they still put the onions in the burger. I gave this place one star 4 years ago and I still stand by that. I only go here out of the convenience that it's one of the places near me that stays open later. But their customer service has been inconsistent, there's always something missing from our order, they fail to provide sauces. Like how am I going to eat mozzarella sticks without marinara sauce? It doesn't hit the same. I've gotten coke and ordered it "dirty style" but it tastes different each time. The ratio of soda and creamer are not accurately mixed each time. So the color and taste are off. It's like an unpleasant and unwanted surprise. Going here is like the ex you try to cut off but keep going back to each time. The menu showed a fish sandwich that looked appetizing and since it is lent we ordered four fish sandwiches, french fries, onion rings and pretzels. When we received our order the fish sandwiches were burnt, flat and inedible nothing like the picture in the menu, the french fries were cold, the onion rings were burnt however the pretzels were the only thing eaten. Drive thru around 10:45-11:30pm Nov 22nd 2025, the guy taking my order was very hard to understand as there was a definite language barrier, got rude when I asked him about a drink and he says "that's what it said" with an attitude, when I get to the window I shared very politely that I had only asked him about my order since I was having a hard time understanding him, he did not seem to get that either. Orders: Hot Fudge Sundae Ice Cream - so creamy that you can taste the old fashioned method of ice cream making in this sundae. The fudge drizzled in the side made my vanilla ice cream turn into a chocolate one what a treat! Usually I am not one to eat the whip cream, but it was so fluffy & airy I devoured it. Only thing I wish they would add chopped nuts. I would definitely re-order this next time. Oreo Milkshake - with a real ice cream base, you need to be patient & wait until the ice cream melts before you can actually drink this with a straw. Ordered 3 Footlongs with the "American" toppings (mustard, ketchup, onions, relish, Awful. First, they DRENCH your hotdogs with condiments, terrible. Totally soak the dogs that you can't even taste the hotdog and extremely messy! The condiments don't taste fresh either, not spoiled per se but just left out. No fresh tasting hotdog how Casper's does theirs. I also usually order a beef hotdog but didn't this time and could instantly tell this was a mixed meat hotdog (gross!). It was a real footlong in length which surprised me in a positive way but the poor meat quality and excess toppings killed it. I recently moved back and noticed how nobody was ever at sonic like how they used to back when I was in high school. Now I know why. Rude manager and lazy employees. They were literally in there hanging out in a circle talking. Last minute I decided I wanted to upgrade to the meal rather than just the burger. They made it super complicated and wanted to charge me the same amount for fries and a drink as the burger. (Almost $8). Paying $20 total for a fast food meal is highway robbery. I asked if they could just charge me for what the upgrade would be, and they said point blank no. Don't really know why they were so complicated about it. After all, it was just a freaking drink. Fix the Sonic app and web site page log-in message and problem. My daughter kept trying to place her order logging into the sonic app via Facebook account and was not able to check out. She got an error message every time. She tried for an hour. She wanted to use her BOGO offer which the Sonic restaurant on Mission Blvd in Hayward WOULD NOT OFFER HER the BOGO. "The employees", we asked for a manager who would not come out to assist us, stated it could only be used on the app or web site ONLY! I logged in using Apple sign up and the order went through. I was forced to ask for a refund due to my food sitting to long and my daughter not able to get the app or website to complete her order to "cash out". We wanted some cold drinks before heading to an outdoor event on a hot day, and were in the area, so we stopped by the drive in to just get a couple flavored beverages. Parked in one of the stalls, hit the red button, waited for what seemed like forever, and no response, just the message on the screen saying someone would be with us soon. It wasn't forever, maybe 5-8 minutes, but that's pretty ridiculous in my opinion just to get a response, and I've never waited that long at any Sonic location, including this one. We exited the stall and went to the drive thru instead. Still somewhat of a wait, but at least it was moving. I got a diet coke with diet cherry flavor added, and my boyfriend got the signature limeade with cherry flavor. We both enjoyed our beverages, filled with crushed ice just the way I like it. Overall I think the drinks at Sonic in general are good. My drink on this day was slightly flat, but the cherry flavor was strong. My biggest disappointment on this visit in particular is that the wait was unreasonable, especiallly when the place wasn't even close to being crowded or busy, most of the stalls empty in fact, and the drive thru line with only 5-7 cars at a time. We went to Sonic's last night (1/11/24) since we haven't had any in a long time. We ordered chili dog, fries, mozzarella sticks, chicken slinger, and tater tots. Most of the food was good until I got to the chicken slinger. My boyfriend and I shared the sandwich. The end parts looked crispy and cooked so of course we took a bite of it. Until we got towards the middle, I looked and noticed the chicken was clear in the dark. So I turned my flash on and it was pink. The chicken wasn't thoroughly cooked and we ate some of it already .
