Picked up some drinks here after taking our dog to the vet in the same plaza and was very disappointed. Upon arriving and a friendly greeting, my fiance advised we ordered ahead and immediately the demeanor the employee changed and didn't even give eye contact when advising to him our drinks were ready. Drinks were also very bland, my strawberry matcha tasted like a strawberry milkshake with barely any green coloring or taste noting it had matcha and my fiancé's jasmine milk tea had boba that tasted older. I've gone here in the past and would recommend sticking to their fruit teas which were much better than their milk tea or matcha options.
Been here a couple times now thanks to the To Good to Go deal that gives you 2 random drinks of the store's choosing along with toppings for $5.99. The first time I went, I forgot to ask what the teas were, but it seemed to be a variety of their Black tea with Aloe Vera and then perhaps the Green Tea with Lychee jelly. I thought both were actually pretty solid teas with good toppings. Since then I've tried a few of their milk teas and thought it tasted just slightly watery, but the toppings were still solid. Other than that, everytime I went, the service has been impeccable and the girls behind the counter have been nice and friendly. The store itself has no seating inside, so you'll have to take your drinks to go.
Went here after trying a restaurant in the same plaza. Server was very nice and helpful. Helped our group of 7 people with all our questions very patiently. Such a plus. Ordered the Strawberry Fluff Matcha with 75% sugar and it was perfect for me. Matcha was not strong and bitter. You can stiil taste the strawberry puree, not even sweet. Refreshing also on a hot summer day. I loved it! I wanna go back and try the other drinks.
Tea Maru is a solid calm luh boba spot located in the Quail Hill shopping center. It is located right next to Perspire Sauna Studio and Nekter Juice Bar. There are a good amount of parking spots in the plaza. Inside, there is no seating so this spot is definitely more of a grab and go spot. As for their menu, they have a good selection of different matcha, slushies, milk tea, and fruit tea drink options. Wifey and I opted to try the Sweet Potato Fluffy Matcha and the Wintermelon Lemon. Both drinks were refreshing with great flavor profiles. Overall, this spot definitely gets the job done for satisfying those boba cravings. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. Put this spot on your list for your next boba run!
Unfortunately, it will be a long time if I ever go back. I was really looking forward to trying Tea Maru and having an evening treat. As a first time customer, I asked a couple questions to the man working, like how was the potato boba and what was his favorite drink? No response. After a minute, I thought maybe he didn't hear me, I asked again. He glared at me, dramatically sighed and gave a muffled response, which I interpreted as no potato boba. I uncomfortably ordered the tea Maru latte with a smile and thanked him to show kindness anyway. The drink flavor was too milky, and lacking tea flavor. There are other tea shops nearby that are all around better I'm happy to support.
I Loved: $7 Maru Milk $8 strawberry matcha milk Perfect sweetness in the drink and super tasty handcrafted boba here. I think this is my new favorite spot. It's a bit far from everything else but so worth the drive. Service is good. Answered questions about the drinks well and service was fairly quick. It's a small shop with no seats but there are places to sit outside.
An ok tea place. I got one milk tea and one fruit tea, and they were both very average. The cashier working was nice and efficient. There are no seats in the shop, as it is kind of a small place, so I got them to-go. They also seemed to be out of a lot of things, such as a couple different sweet potato items, when I visited.
Strawberry Slush (5/5): My friend got this drink with cheese foam! I was surprisingly pleased by how refreshing and delicious this drink was, with the cheese foam it tastes a lot like a strawberry yogurt! It came with strawberry boba but we didn't taste a noticeable strawberry flavor in the boba. Honey Lemon (4/5): Loved the honey flavor in this but it tasted a bit watery to me, we got 75% sweet and tasted a bit watered down but we still enjoyed the drink! Strawberry Matcha (4/5): Matcha was pretty solid and not gritty, only issue was that it was a bit too sweet for my liking. I got Boba with this drink and was intrigued that they handmade it. If you love really bouncy boba then you will like theirs, I enjoy more soft melt in your mouth boba so it's a matter of personal preference! Would come back if I was in the area!
I don't know about other drinks, but the custom one I ordered a few times through uber eats and last time, in person, is always consistently bad. I always get black milk tea with 25% sweetness, oat milk and regular ice. It tastes like dirty water and looks like it as well. Other boba places have a normal strong taste of tea and not this watered down mess when I get the same recipe. Yesterday I was in the area and thought I'd see how it compares to my delivery orders, and lo and behold, it was even worse. I asked for 2 scoops of black jelly, and reiterated that I would like more of it than boba or pudding. I got barely any. When I order at other places, they fill up half a cup with toppings, while here it's about 1/8 of the cup. This is a disgrace for $9. I came home and had to pour out half the glass of this dirt water and add my own ice tea to make it at least somewhat drinkable. I will never order from Tea Maru again. It's my fault for giving them multiple chances, but this experience solidified my opinion of this shop for good.
I've been here a couple of times now and I like the shop a lot. I'm a sucker for boba and tend to enjoy any kind, but Tea Mary left a decent impression on me. Every time myself or my partner have visited the shop, we've gotten the strawberry matcha foam drink and we both love it. My only complaint is that the drinks aren't as consistent in flavor--one time we went they were pretty sweet and concentrated, while the next time we got there they were a little diluted but still good--even though we would keep our preferences of sweetness and milk the same. I will say this is one of the few shops I've seen give so many milk options, from lactose free to whole milk to alternative milk, this place has it all! The decor of the shop is pretty nice, minimal but colorful. It's not one you can stay for too long or sit to enjoy your drink but the decor allows for rather aesthetic photos. They usually only one person working the drink bar when we make it there, but it's not like the service is bad. I'm willing to wait a while to place my order, especially when a larger party of 8-9 comes before us. I will though that if Tea Maru continues to get bigger then the owner will need to have at least two baristas to keep up with the flow of customers soon, but that's not until later down the line I honestly think this place is a decent place to visit for a quick and rather affordable cup of boba and good environment inside all around
Walking in to an empty space no tables to sit at inside, no restroom even for customers. One person working and there's no greeting or any helpfulness even when asked questions about the drinks. But the worst part was the drink. Watered down and overall just horrible ended up throwing it away.
Really great drinks at Tea Maru! Today I had the strawberry fluffy matcha, and got the Maru Milk last time, which are their 2 most popular drinks. Both were delish! Unfortunately I started stirring the strawberry at the bottom of my drink before taking a picture, but there was just the right amount of strawberry to mix into the matcha without being too sweet. I ordered 75% sweetness which was the only "less sweet" option they had for this drink, but you can typically do 25% or 50% sweetness too. They make all their own boba in house. You order from the computer up front and my drink was ready in less than 5 minutes. Very easy parking all around too. No frills place with no seats inside, but there's outdoor seating throughout the plaza
BEST HOUSEMADE BOBA PEARL i always get strawberry fluff matcha with strawberry boba and IMO its top tier boba pearl. they have chewy more like mochi like texture than regular boba. Drink does get expensive though but I recommend this combination. My friends usually get grapefruit fantasy with strawberry boba. * I would not recommend santa ana location since they always run out of boba.. It happened 6 times among us.....

This is a cute little boba shop tucked away in the shopping plaza. Plenty of parking is available. They have a self-order kiosk which is very convenient and shows you more customizations than you would get by ordering in person. The first time I went here, I tried the fluffy strawberry matcha, which had a perfect flavor and sweetness. Their boba is high quality, but I couldn't taste any strawberry flavor in their strawberry boba. I would recommend sticking to brown sugar boba. The second time, I got the Maru Milk and didn't think it was outstanding enough to be their top drink. The highlight is their housemade boba for sure, but for the price of the drinks, I'm not sure how worth it is to come here. ~$7-8 for a drink is a bit ridiculous. read more

Oh my. I love this spot. Recently found it and have already been here 5+ times and I have absolutely zero regrets. Love the flavors (personal favs atm: the seasonal fluffy peach, fluffy strawberry matcha, classic matcha, and peach green tea) And ya know HOUSEMADE BOBA. It's exciting that more boba places are making their way to south Orange County! Tea Maru is the newest kid on the block and they've brought house made boba with them. They make their boba fresh every day using real fruit and vegetables which is a plus. They're located in Quail Hill in an Albertsons shopping center so there's plenty of parking. It's a small shop but cute and clean. All of the signature drinks come with boba but if you order anything else, you'll have to add it on for $0.85-$1.25 depending on what kind you get. Their unique boba flavors include mango, strawberry and sweet potato (you can even mix all three). I had the Kiwi Citrus Breeze ($5.75) without any adjustments and it was good just the way it is. It was more citrus than sweet, so I'm glad I didn't get less sugar like I normally would. The default mango boba had a good chewy texture and a hint of mango flavor. I appreciate that you can really taste the tea in their drinks and they use quality ingredients. Because of the higher price point, this won't be my every day go-to place for boba. But I do want to try more of their specialty drinks like the fluffy matcha. read more
I'm glad there is another boba shop place from the San Gabriel Valley area that popped up in Irvine! Tea Maru claims that their boba are hand made and they offer a variety of boba flavors. I don't know how true this handmade boba is, but it definitely did not have the fresh boba texture (soft but chewy) when I came on a Thursday afternoon. I tried the Tea Maru Latte at 75% sweetness with less ice. The drink comes with a mix of boba flavors that they have on hand that day - Strawberry, Sweet Potato, and Brown Sugar. You can choose which tea you want - Oolong, Black, Four Seasons, or Jasmine. I chose Oolong, but they realized they didn't have enough to make a full drink so I said it was fine to add Black tea to finish it off. The tea taste was perfect - not too sweet and had a strong tea flavor. The boba was good, but did not taste freshly made and the individual flavors did not come through. It was still good boba nonetheless. The service was slow... there were only two workers making the drinks and taking orders. Nice, minimalist aesthetic with some unique boba ball flavors, but compared to the other boba shops in Orange County, I don't think it's even average. Overall it's kind of slow and didn't meet price and taste expectations. One positive thing to note, Tea Maru is the one of the few places I've seen with fruit boba like strawberry, mango, and sweet potato boba balls. While that is pretty good, I don't think it's worth the downsides of pretty much everything else. Strawberry fluff matcha: 2/5 Imagine a fruit gusher but now it's a drink. That's basically the strawberry fluff matcha.. its basically dalgona matcha fluff with milk and strawberries, and IMO it's not for me. If your taste buds are as "developed" as a teen who consumes 1kg of candy a day, this is for you. The matcha on top was weak and overpowered by the cream. Yeah, this drink wasn't for me. The single drink was $6.50 with boba which normally has to be worth it if it's that price, but it's not. Also, the line is pretty long here. Took about 20-25 minutes to get my drink, which is slower than most other shops aside from Omomo and sometimes Orobae. It could be better. read more

Drinks are 5 stars! Service is 3 stars. Ya'll don't know til you know! This is everything I usually dislike (mango + matcha?!) & especially when on Keto, I just can't have (boba + sugar)! So I never thought I'd order of all things this on a cheat day. Luckily, my bro ordered it & now it is the damn DREAM DRINK: Mango Fluffy Matcha (creamy matcha dalgona w/housemade mango puree & added mango boba)! Shut me down! Oh we also got their most popular Maru Milk Tea (premium organic fresh milk combined w/brown sugar, hold the foam), & mixed boba. But holy moly this ruined my faith in knowing myself well. Service needs some work, but the drink is where it's at! Tip: Please post when sold out or making more flavored boba. This way customers can decide if they want to wait or go elsewhere. You will help save yourself from any issues around miscommunication. Thanks! read more

Tea Maru is located in a busy plaza in Irvine. Lots of parking spaces available :) you can order via kiosk in case they are busy inside or order in person. I ordered jasmine green tea with mixed boba because they ran out of regular tapioca pearls!!! I was so sad. But the flavored boba was still good. They first got my order made wrong but remade it for me. I appreciated the remake but the order was right on the paper :( Flavor wise, it was great! read more

As for the taste, the drink itself is good but it's on the sweeter side. The mango overpowers the Matcha so I can't really taste the matcha at all. read more
Their boba was not too chewy and the tea wasn't too sweet. They have many variety of flavors to choose from. I like how their menu shows which teas has no caffeine as well. The interior was pretty chilly but I rather prefer that than the heat during this time of the year. I would definitely come back again to try another flavor milk tea. read more

Stopped in for the grapefruit fantasy. Boba were great with a nice chewy texture and sweetness. Usually get 50% sweetness on fruit drinks but it's ok here to go higher. Not much grapefruit taste or fruit bits as I would have preferred but the tea was flavorful. Very refreshing after Pickleball though. read more

Daughter and I saw the offers Tea Maru had for OC Restaurant Week and made our way over there after dropping a family member at the hospital for work. We sat in our car waiting for the tea place to open at 11:30 a.m. We chose the $15 Offer for 2 large drinks and 2 cookies from the menu and ordered a large Mango Fluffy Matcha, a large Strawberry Fluffy Matcha, a Corn Cookie, and a Blueberry & Cream Cookie. Both drinks were ordered with no ice and soy milk. Drinks and cookies were placed in a bag. It seemed like there was less strawberry purée this time, but it was still creamy and good. read more

First time here. I gravitated towards the strawberry fluffy matcha drink. For some reason, the "fluffy" descriptor intrigued me, although the description of the drink told me why it was termed "fluffy." Regardless, it was yum! I ordered it with soy milk instead and made it less sweet. It was smooth and yummy! There are many options to choose from, including different types of boba and types of milk (e.g., soy vs oat vs dairy milk). They certainly do give a lot of boba for each drink. I will return soon if I'm in the area. Next time, I'll order the same drink but with less ice and less boba. read more

Stopped by here for boba on our way back from the beach this weekend. The place is really small and right as we walked in I was slapped in the face by a strong odor...smelled like rotten milk. I later realized the scent was coming from their trash can. I'm guessing someone threw milk tea and it sat there for too long so it started to smell. The boba itself was good, but the drinks are overpriced in my opinion. We paid about $7 for a standard sized drink. Not sure if I'd return here to he honest. read more

On to my next boba adventure...Tea Maru! I was picking up some KFC from bb.q Chicken, and saw this place. So, the boba addict in me, have to try it! Service: 4 out of 5 There was only one guy working the counter and making the drinks when I went. He was nice, friendly, and polite. He made his recommendations, and I really liked all of it. Drinks: 4 out of 5 I tried 3 of their drinks, (Tea Maru, Okinawa, Strawberry Matcha), and I really liked it! The Tea Maru was awesome! It was my favorite of the three. It was creamy, tasty, and it wasn't too sweet! I am known for being too picky on the sweetness, but this one wasn't too sweet at 75%. The milk and tea ratio on the Okinawa were right on point as well. The Strawberry Matcha was also made fresh. Some places you'll taste an awful seaweed taste of the matcha if it's not made properly or the ingredients are cheap. This one tasted great! The only thing I wasn't impressed on was the boba. Some of the boba were clumped together, and several of the pieces were too chewy. This would've been okay, except it made it harder for the liquid to pass through the straw because the clumped boba blocked the airway passage through the straw, which made it harder to drink it. Ambiance: 3 out of 5 Located in the beautifully landscaped Quail Hill Plaza, this place is small, but clean. It can easily be missed because they're located on the right hand side upon entrance onto Passage Way. Ample parking available. Overall, Tea Maru is a great alternative to the many boba shops in OC, specifically in Irvine. Good drinks, great options, and friendly atmosphere. read more

Went there on a Thur afternoon ~3:30. Craving for Boba. Check Yelp for a close-by location, and saw Tea Maru. Since it's the first time so I just ordered the most popular item on the menu- " Maru milk" with regular sweetness, brown sugar boba and regular ice..... The server told me they went out of brown boba and would I need to wait 15 min, so I substituted with Mango boba. I was the only in-person customer at that time. I was disappointed with my drink. 1. mango baba has no mango taste, the chewy level is good, but what I can taste was only the sweetness but not mango boba. 2. He forgot to add ice in my drink. 3. Maru milk is just a very richly milky drink. Without ice, I am like drinking milky syrup. At the end, I just gave it up after drinking 1/3 of it. Overall, I would give it a benefit of doubt that the server was not experienced and the actual drink would have been way better. My boba craving was not met and will see if I will try it again next time. read more
Checked this place out on my lunch and was pleasantly surprised! I ordered the Maru Milk Tea (their signature classic) with lactose-free milk. I loved the fact that there are 4 different types of milk you can order as a substitute: organic milk, oat milk, almond milk and lactose-free. The homemade sugar boba was delicious! I love my boba so first impressions are important. The drink was blended well with the perfect amount of ice and sugar levels. By the time I drove back to my office about 10 minutes away, the boba was all gone! Will definitely be returning to try the other flavors! Particularly curious about the Taro signature one. read more
My friend and I found this place on our way back from Laguna Beach. My mango jasmine tea with boba was refreshing and service was friendly. I was happy to learn that the tea actually tastes like tea and not just juice. I ordered the drink at 50% sweet and found it to be the perfect balance I was looking for. read more

Probably one of the most disappointing drinks I've had in a while. I've tried Tea Maru in 626 area before so I know it's potential...and was sad that this location isn't nearly as good--especially for a drink that is listed as their top 5. I got the grapefruit fantasy..Barely any tea flavor, barely any grapefruit flavor; at least the boba had a little flavor?? Still questionable. +1 star for Yelp-check-in of 15% off. read more

Despite the slightly overpriced beverages- the speedy service, unique drink menu, & unparalleled boba texture (although they sometimes clump together) definitely make it worth going back to Tea Maru- 10/10! read more
