Picked up some drinks here after taking our dog to the vet in the same plaza and was very disappointed. Upon arriving and a friendly greeting, my fiance advised we ordered ahead and immediately the demeanor the employee changed and didn't even give eye contact when advising to him our drinks were ready. Drinks were also very bland, my strawberry matcha tasted like a strawberry milkshake with barely any green coloring or taste noting it had matcha and my fiancé's jasmine milk tea had boba that tasted older. I've gone here in the past and would recommend sticking to their fruit teas which were much better than their milk tea or matcha options.
Been here a couple times now thanks to the To Good to Go deal that gives you 2 random drinks of the store's choosing along with toppings for $5.99. The first time I went, I forgot to ask what the teas were, but it seemed to be a variety of their Black tea with Aloe Vera and then perhaps the Green Tea with Lychee jelly. I thought both were actually pretty solid teas with good toppings. Since then I've tried a few of their milk teas and thought it tasted just slightly watery, but the toppings were still solid. Other than that, everytime I went, the service has been impeccable and the girls behind the counter have been nice and friendly. The store itself has no seating inside, so you'll have to take your drinks to go.
Went here after trying a restaurant in the same plaza. Server was very nice and helpful. Helped our group of 7 people with all our questions very patiently. Such a plus. Ordered the Strawberry Fluff Matcha with 75% sugar and it was perfect for me. Matcha was not strong and bitter. You can stiil taste the strawberry puree, not even sweet. Refreshing also on a hot summer day. I loved it! I wanna go back and try the other drinks.
Tea Maru is a solid calm luh boba spot located in the Quail Hill shopping center. It is located right next to Perspire Sauna Studio and Nekter Juice Bar. There are a good amount of parking spots in the plaza. Inside, there is no seating so this spot is definitely more of a grab and go spot. As for their menu, they have a good selection of different matcha, slushies, milk tea, and fruit tea drink options. Wifey and I opted to try the Sweet Potato Fluffy Matcha and the Wintermelon Lemon. Both drinks were refreshing with great flavor profiles. Overall, this spot definitely gets the job done for satisfying those boba cravings. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. Put this spot on your list for your next boba run!

As a first time customer, I asked a couple questions to the man working, like how was the potato boba and what was his favorite drink? No response. After a minute, I thought maybe he didn't hear me, I asked again. He glared at me, dramatically sighed and gave a muffled response, which I interpreted as no potato boba. I uncomfortably ordered the tea Maru latte with a smile and thanked him to show kindness anyway. The drink flavor was too milky, and lacking tea flavor. There are other tea shops nearby that are all around better I'm happy to support.
I Loved: $7 Maru Milk $8 strawberry matcha milk Perfect sweetness in the drink and super tasty handcrafted boba here. I think this is my new favorite spot. It's a bit far from everything else but so worth the drive. Service is good. Answered questions about the drinks well and service was fairly quick. Strawberry Slush (5/5): My friend got this drink with cheese foam! I was surprisingly pleased by how refreshing and delicious this drink was, with the cheese foam it tastes a lot like a strawberry yogurt! It came with strawberry boba but we didn't taste a noticeable strawberry flavor in the boba. Honey Lemon (4/5): Loved the honey flavor in this but it tasted a bit watery to me, we got 75% sweet and tasted a bit watered down but we still enjoyed the drink! Strawberry Matcha (4/5): Matcha was pretty solid and not gritty, only issue was that it was a bit too sweet for my liking. I got Boba with this drink and was intrigued that they handmade it. If you love really bouncy boba then you will like theirs, I enjoy more soft melt in your mouth boba so it's a matter of personal preference! Would come back if I was in the area!
I don't know about other drinks, but the custom one I ordered a few times through uber eats and last time, in person, is always consistently bad. I always get black milk tea with 25% sweetness, oat milk and regular ice. It tastes like dirty water and looks like it as well. Other boba places have a normal strong taste of tea and not this watered down mess when I get the same recipe. Yesterday I was in the area and thought I'd see how it compares to my delivery orders, and lo and behold, it was even worse. I asked for 2 scoops of black jelly, and reiterated that I would like more of it than boba or pudding. I got barely any. When I order at other places, they fill up half a cup with toppings, while here it's about 1/8 of the cup. This is a disgrace for $9. I came home and had to pour out half the glass of this dirt water and add my own ice tea to make it at least somewhat drinkable. I will never order from Tea Maru again. It's my fault for giving them multiple chances, but this experience solidified my opinion of this shop for good.
I've been here a couple of times now and I like the shop a lot. I'm a sucker for boba and tend to enjoy any kind, but Tea Mary left a decent impression on me. Every time myself or my partner have visited the shop, we've gotten the strawberry matcha foam drink and we both love it. My only complaint is that the drinks aren't as consistent in flavor--one time we went they were pretty sweet and concentrated, while the next time we got there they were a little diluted but still good--even though we would keep our preferences of sweetness and milk the same. I will say this is one of the few shops I've seen give so many milk options, from lactose free to whole milk to alternative milk, this place has it all! The decor of the shop is pretty nice, minimal but colorful. It's not one you can stay for too long or sit to enjoy your drink but the decor allows for rather aesthetic photos. They usually only one person working the drink bar when we make it there, but it's not like the service is bad. I'm willing to wait a while to place my order, especially when a larger party of 8-9 comes before us. I will though that if Tea Maru continues to get bigger then the owner will need to have at least two baristas to keep up with the flow of customers soon, but that's not until later down the line I honestly think this place is a decent place to visit for a quick and rather affordable cup of boba and good environment inside all around

Really great drinks at Tea Maru! Today I had the strawberry fluffy matcha, and got the Maru Milk last time, which are their 2 most popular drinks. Both were delish! Unfortunately I started stirring the strawberry at the bottom of my drink before taking a picture, but there was just the right amount of strawberry to mix into the matcha without being too sweet. I ordered 75% sweetness which was the only "less sweet" option they had for this drink, but you can typically do 25% or 50% sweetness too. They make all their own boba in house. You order from the computer up front and my drink was ready in less than 5 minutes. Very easy parking all around too. No frills place with no seats inside, but there's outdoor seating throughout the plaza
BEST HOUSEMADE BOBA PEARL i always get strawberry fluff matcha with strawberry boba and IMO its top tier boba pearl. they have chewy more like mochi like texture than regular boba. Drink does get expensive though but I recommend this combination. My friends usually get grapefruit fantasy with strawberry boba. * I would not recommend santa ana location since they always run out of boba.. It happened 6 times among us.....
A plethora of creative, refreshing cold drinks. Tried Pudding with Green Tea & Oolong with Lychee today. My friend and I didn't feel so guilty having these. The staff is helpful with ordering. There are no seats/tables inside, but there is seating outdoors at the common area. read more
Tea Maru's Grapefruit Fantasy is still one of my favorites for fruity and refreshing boba drinks! Especially since we've had some sunny winter days, I've found myself craving this grapefruit tea and I was pleased to see that Tea Maru's house made boba pearls were still flavored well and had a nice, bouncy texture that wasn't too hard or soft - just perfection! Service is pretty efficient - order on the kiosk and someone will make your drink fairly quickly. Ambiance is casual and there's outdoor seating in the surrounding plaza if you want to linger and enjoy. Appreciate the quality of the drinks and will definitely be back again soon! read more
I really like that this tea shop is sustainable and tries hard not to have food waste. I was able to get 2 drinks at a greatly discounted price at Too Good To Go app which allows the store to sell surplus items without wasting food. It was a surprise bag but I received a green tea drink with pudding topping and the other drink is green tea latte with pudding. While I wasn't able to adjust any of the toppings and tea flavor, they were nice enough to make it less sweet per my request. The tea flavor is strong with real brewed tea leaves. The staff was friendly. There is no seating at this location so it's only a to go place. There is ample of free parking at the shopping center. read more

I used to be a fan of Tea Maru's strawberry's fluffy matcha and have ordered it 10+ times before, but received a drink with the most disappointing amount of matcha and strawberry pulp. It tasted like straight up milk, nothing like it used to. If you are looking for a matcha drink, I would look elsewhere for a more worthwhile amount of matcha in your drink. read more

Based off of the reviews, I lowered the Fluffy Strawberry Matcha drink to 75% sugar and it was the perfect amount of sweetness. You can also taste the matcha more at this level. Had to try this for the one time - I went and got myself a Mango Jasmine Green Tea and it was great! The fruit bits were perfect and just make sure to mix it up. You can customize your drinks according to your own preferences regarding ice, sugar, and add-ons. read more
Walked in here for oc restaurant week (3/5/23-3/11/23). Their deal is 4 drinks (2 large and 2 medium) for $20. I got the Maru milk, strawberry blast, Okinawa latte, strawberry fluffy matcha and kiwi citrus breeze. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. Inside is empty and just for ordering but there are a few tables outside of you want to drink it there. The Maru milk is their signature drink. It's made with organic milk and sweetened with brown sugar and foamy cheese (which doesn't sound like it would mix well but you don't taste it and it adds a creaminess to the drink). Their boba is fresh and has just the right amount of chewiness. Since it's made with just milk and no tea, it's caffeine free as well so good for your kids. The strawberry breeze has muddled strawberries in it but had a funky taste and was bitter. Can't recommend. The kiwi citrus breeze is tea forward and tastes both citrusy and sweet. The Okinawa latte was good but nothing special. The strawberry fluffy matcha is amazing. You taste the strawberry upfront with matcha notes coming in after. It has a creaminess to the drink as well and tastes almost like a a strawberry cream saver candy. If it's your first time here then I recommend just grabbing a drink off of the favorites menu. read more

There are so many tea places and it's hit or miss. Tea Maru was a hit. I never get boba or toppings in my drink but I did because it's advertised as housemade boba. I got Okinawa Latte ($5.99) with brown sugar boba. I love that it's only one size cup and you can customize your ice and sugar level. The tea tasted freshly brewed, it was strong and had a slight hint of roasted flavor in the Okinawa which is supposed to be more bold than the Maru (classic milk tea). The boba choices were strawberry, mango, brown sugar and sweet potato. It was soft and chewy from beginning to end unlike other places where it's hard and tough. There are no indoor seating and one table outside. Basically grab and go. read more

Tea Maru is officially my favorite boba shop. I have had LOTS of boba and the quality of the drinks and boba here are what I love most. I always get the Maru Milk but I have tried their taro drink and their milk teas. Both are really great. The maru milk is what I imagine cereal milk to be. It is exactly that and you need to get it with the cheese foam to get that flavor. The boba is so tender, has a nice bite to it and an easy satisfying chew. The sweetness of the boba isn't too sweet but still retains a good caramel taste. I haven't tried the other flavors of boba yet but I assume they would have great form as well. I love that they offer lactose free milk, which most boba shops don't offer. The service is fast and easy with the kiosk. The space is super clean. There isn't any seating inside but you can sit outside as there are plenty of tables and chairs. Overall, this is a must try! read more

Having experienced the major boba chains, it was a nice change to try something more local. I visited on a warm day so wanted to try their slush, which is not offered in a lot of other boba tea shops, so went for the Okinawa slush. The boba was the highlight of this drink, very well balanced consistency, not too chewy and not too hard, you could tell it was fresh. The slush ice consistency was also quite good, especially because you often find ice chunks when you order from other places, sometimes even at a Starbucks. I have a feeling that the teas are much better, however, but the staff didn't really seem to know the differences or have any good suggestions for me so I ended up getting the slush, which I thought lacked sufficient flavor, it just was wasn't strong enough when mixed with the ice and ended up with a diluted tea taste due to the proportion of ice. Its not quite as busy as other boba shops, I think I waited about 15 minutes for my drink, even with only a couple people in front of me, but seemed that some people were picking orders. I did appreciate the staff apologize for a longer-than-expected wait. Seemed that morning staffing was a bit too thin, as it looked like only one guy was taking orders, making drinks and handling money. There wasn't much seating there, only a couple outside tables. But the plaza has a lot of seating and we enjoyed the larger seating on the other end of the plaza. I'm looking forward to trying Tea Maru again in the future, but will skip the slush and go straight for tea next time. read more

My person was patient with answering my questions about the menu and she sounds very familiar with the ingredients that goes into each drink which made me confident that I can rely on her recommendations. Fluffy match: my favorite here! I got the mango fluffy match. BEFORE DRINKING PLEASE SHAKE WELL! contents are so creamy and soft! Finished it so fast!! So good! Milk tea with assorted boba: taste like any reg milk tea but the bursting variety of boba flavor made up for the banal milk taste. I wouldn't get it again. Plenty of parking! Intrigued by their signature Housemade Boba with unique flavor like strawberry, mango, sweet potato. They look like popping boba but they're chewy just like the regular boba. They recommend self-ordering using https://tea-maru-irvine.square.site/ but you won't be able to redeem Yelp 15% off there. I got Maru milk which includes brown sugar boba and mango fluffy matcha with mix boba topping. Not sure if it is worth $1.25 extra because can't really tell apart the flavor once mixed (it will be if the quantity is more than the 85 cent portion). The boba is definitely feels fruitier than the regular brown sugar boba tho. I asked for less sweet (75%) and it's just perfect. Less ice is still a bit too icy. A warning for those lactose intolerant is don't get their organic milk. read more
If you want quality boba and a good amount for the price this is your place!! I tried the strawberry fluffy matcha with strawberry boba and it was delicious! The boba was chewy and flavorful. The strawberry added into the drink was delicious as well as the matcha foam. However if you don't prefer sweeter drinks make sure to lower the sweetness as the sugar definitely over powers the flavor of the matcha. The price is a little up there but i've been to places where it's the same price for a smaller drink and lower quality so i don't mind paying around $7 for a good drink! they have milk alternatives so i got soy milk with mine. The boba pearls were hard and stuck together. I've been here twice and the same thing happened. I like that this place offers unique different flavors of boba, but the boba themselves are old and always stuck together. The matcha foam drinks like the dalgona are really good though! The prices are also fair and the selection is good. The staff is very helpful and they make drinks quickly as well. The inside is clean and nice like a typical boba shop. There's no inside seating since Covid and there's limited outside seating shared with other shops. The plaza is nice though in classic Irvine style. Overall, I'd recommend going if you're in the area, but avoid the boba pearls since it's not that good. read more
Loved the drinks we ordered the other day! Matcha fluffy taro is such a nice dessert style drink. Got mine with oat milk and ai yu jelly. Literally an amazing matcha dessert in a cup. Bf got a mango jasmine which was super refreshing. Real mango and nice strong jasmine tea. Perfect combo. Going to try some other interesting looking drinks next time ! :) read more
