This is not your average sit down restaurant. You come in, grab a menu, order, then pay and await greatness. Please note that they have bigger menu than what is on Google and Yelp. I totally forgot to take a picture of the menu. All of the food is made to order so please be patient. We ordered the Mint tea lightly sweetened and the iced Hibiscus tea. Both very good. We ordered the bakoula, baked beets, and Brie sandwich to start. Everything was delicious. The bakoula is like sautéed spinach and the baked beets are served with goat cheese and sliced almonds. You eat these both with Pita. The Brie sandwich was very good. It is served with mixed greens which are bitter but the Brie and raspberry spread pair nicely together. We also ordered the tortilla de patata which is essentially a potato and egg quiche served with cherry tomatoes. It was Very good. It's dimly lit but you can still read the menu and the Moroccan music in the background is at a respectable volume. They have a gender neutral bathroom which was nice and clean. They also have desserts and hookah.

As soon as you walk into Tea in Sahara you feel relaxed and welcomed. It's such a cozy atmosphere. The food, Moroccan mint tea, and Turkish coffee were all so good!

This place only opens when the owner wants to so keep an ear out for the music playing outside. The owner is also horrible at responding to the phone or voice mails. When they do open, there isn't a line of any sort when I've been before 5 pm. I've been here twice and got the mint tea.. cold moroccan mint tea (has green tea) hit the spot with a stalk of spearmint in the cup. I've also been here a second time and got the mint without green tea that was served hot. He does pour the tea from a height to create a froth which is nice. I've only seen baklava in the pastry area and haven't seen anyone order the food here yet.

Some of these reviews are.....weird. If I'm giving the benefit of the doubt, maybe just unaware of other cultures. Maybe used to walking into a shop that is not American but still has American service. This is exactly what it's like to walk into a shop in most of the MENA region. No one hounds you to be seated or stands over your head waiting for you to order. It is meant to feel like you're walking into a home or community center. The ambiance is absolutely beautiful, intricate, and cozy. I have been a regular here since moving to Rhody two years ago. I wanted a place that reminds me of home and I have found it. The food always hits the spot and I've tried almost everything on the menu by now given how many times I've been here. There's an item for every mood I'm in and the hookah hits every time. When friends and family visit me from out of town/state/country, this is a must on our to-do list. The wait staff goes out of their way given this is not full service. I've people watched first dates, study sessions, and friendly reunions here. The wait staff is also courteous about us staying til closing and lets us slowly dwindle after closing too. I've truly never had a negative experience here. I love the music choice; it transports me to the MENA region. Most menu items are halal and there's plenty of vegan options. You can replace bread with fries or rice if you don't eat gluten. And for people mentioning their hours, the shop owners have a life outside the restaurant so this isn't the only thing they do. If they don't answer the phone or it's a Monday/Tuesday (which is dead af in Providence), then they're probably closed. Whenever they're open, they answer the phone and typically close at 11pm. It's not that complicated. I loooooove Tea in Sahara and will keep coming.

Do they do orders to go?

Yes indeed. Both takeout and delivery.

Has this place changed its timings or has something happened? Its been closed for the past few days whenever I went there.

It has very odd hours, best bet is to go later in the day. One time they opened at 5 p.m.

It was thick and came in a pretty small cup, about a 3rd of that is the grounds. Fun to try, but very bitter, wouldn't recommend this either. Overall, really cool shop that seems very popular. Sultan: The lamb was stewed for a long time until incredibly tender and melted in your mouth, with absolutely no gamey taste. Although it's called "sweet lamb", it didn't have a strong sweetness; instead, it had a typical mild, complex flavor of onions, cumin, coriander seeds, and other spices. The Yellow Rice was likely seasoned with turmeric and saffron, making it very flavorful. The basmati rice grains were distinct but not too dry, perfect for mixing with the sauce. The White Garlic Sauce wasn't overpowering; it mainly added a touch of acidity, which, along with the cool, sweet corn, helped to cut through the greasiness. Actually, it was completely different from any other Moroccan lamb stew I've had. It was more like Yemeni Mandi, but with more layers of flavor and a more universally appealing taste. As a fusion dish, how can it not be considered a success? This restaurant offered self-build options, but I was rushing to the World Cup Fan Festival and didn't even have time to look at the menu carefully. The staff quickly recommended dishes and adjusted the ingredients based on my preferences. Excellent service.

Mare is described as a Mediterranean-inspired seafood restaurant. It's about a 7 minute drive from downtown Providence with upscale vibes. After riding the elevator up to the restaurant, we checked in with the hostess and were escorted to our table. There, our server Teresa greeted us and told us about the specials and some items she recommended. My wife ordered the Tequila Doli cocktail and Amaretto Apple Cider. I kept it basic with a draft beer. We also ordered deviled eggs because why not? Our drinks and deviled eggs were served promptly, and after a few pics, we dove right in. The deviled eggs tasted great and I ended up ordering another round of them. The cocktails did not disappoint. According to the menu, the Tequila Doli contains Lunazul Blanco Tequila, & Pineapple fermented topped with a Pineapple Slice. The ingredients paired well and the drink left my wife wide-eyed with amazement after the first sip. I also had a sip and thought it tasted great. I also loved it's simple but beautiful presentation with the sliced pineapple sitting atop of the foam. The Apple Cider Amaretto was dangerously delicious due to how sweet and smooth it was. I see myself ordering a few when we return. For the entrees, we went with Teresa's recommendations on the scallops and short ribs. The scallops were served on pumpkin risotto, butternut squash, and topped with stracciatella cheese and pesto. They were seared to perfection and had a soft, buttery texture inside. The pumpkin risotto and butternut squash all worked well and we found the food delightful. The short ribs were the item that stole my heart. They were presented with a nice bark and served over delicious mashed potatoes with a side of fresh green beans. The ribs were cooked perfectly as they were fork-tender, and savory. The green beans were fresh and had a nice "snap" to them. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Mare Rooftop. Unfortunately the weather wasn't cooperative or ideal for outdoor dining and drinks. Okay, stop there, let's just do that and add the meat and fish option. To start was the Strawberry Fattoush - Little Gems, Cucumber, Pomegranate Vinaigrette, Pita Chips, Sumac - amazing. Next was the Warm Buttered Hummus - Basturma, Tomato, Black Olive. Still doing great! Then the Fried Mussels - Hot Peppers, Turkish Almond Tarator Sauce. Can't say I have ever had those before! The Spinach Falafel - Tahini, Beet Tzatziki, Pickles was next. Though you could roll it up, eating it that way was pointless. Back to the knife and fork. Then the Sultan's Delight - Tamarind Beef, Smoky Eggplant Purée, Basil. Aamazing! Still going after that was the Swordfish - Nettle Freekah, Red Pepper Tahini, Buttermilk Fried Fiddle Heads. Then finally the Turkish-Style Profiteroles - Brown Butter Crème, Sesame Caramel Cashews, Halva with something else on the side. My partner and I managed to snag a last-minute reservation on a Tuesday night, and even at 9 p.m. the restaurant was still lively. Between the beautiful decor and warm atmosphere, it made for a great date night spot, though it was admittedly a bit dim (apologies in advance for the photo quality!) Between the two of us, we ended up ordering quite a few dishes: Whipped Feta (4/5): This was good, though I was hoping for a stronger roasted pepper flavor. Nothing wrong with it, but it didn't quite stand out. Interestingly, we overheard the table next to us mention the same thing, so maybe this one's a bit hit or miss. Spinach Falafel (4/5): Another solid dish. It was bright, colorful, and fresh, though a little messy to eat. Our waiter rather bluntly told us to "just wrap it and bite," which caught us a little off guard, but it was good nonetheless. Fatteh (4.5/5): Our favorite appetizer of the night. The creamy roasted cauliflower paired so well with the crispy pita, and I especially loved the sweetness the onions brought to the dish. Sultan's Delight (5/5): As everyone else says, this is the one to order. The beef was incredibly tender and rich. In hindsight, I almost wish we'd had the potatoes from the Adana Kebab to eat alongside it because they would've been the perfect accompaniment. Vermont Quail Kebab (5/5): Tied with the Sultan's Delight as our favorite entrée. The quail was juicy, well-spiced, and surprisingly easy to eat. I'd absolutely order this again. Adana Kebab (4/5): By this point, I think we were simply getting full. The kebab itself was good, but not nearly as memorable as the other meat dishes. Ironically, the potatoes and peppers that came with it might have been my favorite part--they would've paired perfectly with the Sultan's Delight. Baked Alaska (4.5/5): Delicious. The toasted meringue paired wonderfully with the coconut ice cream, though we were a little mixed on the passionfruit caramel, which came across slightly burnt and more acidic than expected. After a while the meringue did become quite sweet, so we ended up pairing some with the Muhallebi. Dark Chocolate Muhallebi (3.5/5): Yes...we ordered two desserts. I was mostly drawn in by the kaymak ice cream, but the Muhallebi itself was almost completely unsweetened. I'm usually all for desserts that aren't overly sweet, but this one leaned more savory than I expected. We actually ended up adding some leftover meringue from the Baked Alaska to balance it out. Looking back, given both our appetites (and our wallets), I think we would've been perfectly happy just ordering the Baked Alaska. Overall, Oleana was a lovely spot for a date night. While it didn't quite live up to the lofty expectations I'd built up from all the praise, we still had a really enjoyable meal. Our main waiter was kind, and I appreciated that the dishes came out in rounds, giving us plenty of time to eat and chat. The meat dishes were definitely the highlights for us, but overall there's a lot to like here.
