I was wondering why there is a line for this tiny hole in the wall when I walked by. I went inside and ordered 2 cups of iced oolong tea with aloe and tea jelly......(yes the same stuff I ordered from some other place in cupertino....ten ren??) Boba awesomeness on weekend! We visited the place on both days of the weekend! Saturday: This place has a ton of awesome selection and varieties of teas and flavors! My goodness, I haven't seen those many flavors in milk tea before! Me and my girlfriend are great fans of boba tea and we were craving for it after playing and catching Pokemon in downtown. Dropped into this place, ordered coconut milk tea with boba and a chocolate milk tea with boba! I never tried chocolate milk tea before, but it was fantastic! I loved it! We enjoyed it! For the longest time I thought the name of the store was Tiara. Its probably one of the better tasting milk tea place in the bay area. Which is probably why despite having 3 other milk tea place in the surrounding area, its still the preferred place for a lot of my friends. They even have wintermelon tea that tasted like childhood memories. I still haven't try the star fruit juice yet, hope that also live up to the expectation. I also like the Japanese Garden milk tea here, it taste like liquid green tea ice cream. Since I don't like boba or pearl or whatever you like to called it. I can't really say anything about that. However, my friends claim they love the texture of the boba here. The place's only con is its store front size, which is tiny. There were 8 of us and the place seem crowded already. Absolutely love this place! Tried Tea Era for the first time three years ago on my first trip to California, and three years later it's just as good as I remembered. I've tried out the jasmine milk tea, honey longan, lychee green tea, taro milk tea, and Thai tea. It's not very expensive BUT REMEMBER TO BRING CASH! Unfortunately they don't accept card. I often come here after a dinner with friends. Their drinks are quite good, quite fast, and while not as cheap as Verde down the street, decently priced. I usually prefer this place over Verde if only for their tea quality. I guess I feel Verde's is too 'milky' - I prefer a stronger tea taste, and Tea Era often has it right. They are also good for group orders as well - as long as you have cash that is. My friends love the roasted barley. I personally like the black sugar oolong milk tea the most. That said, tangerine milk tea (not listed on the menu) is also interesting, as it tastes like a creamsicle. Strawberry milk tea has actual strawberries. However, for taro, I think Fantasia probably wins in that category. The workers are generally friendly, and they have a buy-10-get-1-free loyalty card. Part of the store is decorated with people who store their card on the wall, so that is interesting. Every time I'm in the Mountain View area, a trip to Tea Era is a MUST because it's just that good! Even if it wasn't in the plan, I will make the time to fit this place in. Milk tea is FANTASTIC, and the boba is the BEST. But just a note, it's cash only. My favorites are the Roasted Oolong Milk Tea and the Roasted Barley Milk Tea. Between the two, the oolong is usually my go-to since it's a tad less sweet than the barley. What makes their milk tea so good is that it tastes light! They have the perfect proportions and balance of milk, sugar, and tea. I've definitely had my fair share of places that add way too much milk or sugar... but never at Tea Era! And also, their boba is seriously THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD (to quote Drake). The texture is perfect - cooked through enough but still with nice chewy texture - and the boba has this very slight hint of sweetness that adds an extra pop of flavor to your drink. I'm a bit torn. We ordered a few items here - strawberry smoothie, peach smoothie and jasmine milk tea. The jasmine milk tea is extremely watered down. I wish it had a stronger flavor to it, but just seems quite watered down and leaves a bit to be desired. The strawberry smoothie is a bit sweet, nothing to write home about. Despite not sounding very tasty, the Barley Milk Tea is actually pretty damn good, but my favorite right now would have to be the Soy Milk Tea, which is only $1.99! I LOVE soy milk, so I guess it's no wonder why I love the Soy Milk Tea. It's pretty sad that this is the only place that has it though. Tea Era is really close to Verde, so how do you decide which one to go to? If you're REALLY thirsty, go to Verde. Their regular/large sized drinks are bigger. Been working in downtown MV for about 8 months now and I have yet to try this place till now. Man have I missed out. I've been going to Verde for months spending money on their milk tea when I could of gone here! I took the suggestion of trying the barley milk tea and sure enough, you guys were right! I am a bubble tea connoisseur, and I have to say that Tea Era is as good as it gets. Tea Era has two house specials - roasted oolong milk tea and roasted barley milk tea, and they are THE best. The tea is flavorful and not too sweet, and the pearls are chewy. I dislike pearls that are hard or too mushy, and Tea Era does it just right. They also have a full menu - same as you would find at other bubble tea establishments. I love bae era.. I mean tea era. They have a huge variety of teas, milk teas, and smoothies. Some of their toppings are pretty unique too, like the green tea jelly. In my opinion, the tea quality tastes a lot better here than some of the other local place. You can customize the sugar level as well to get the right balance. My personal favorites are the roasted barley and rose milk tea. :) The only downside is that it's cash only, which is unfortunate because I normally don't carry cash with me. First time here and I think it was alright. Located in a really cute part of town, it can be easy to miss and parking is a bit of a hassle. Upon entering, you are bombarded with a billion signs with a billion tea flavors and add-ons scattered all over the place: "NEW FLAVORS", "TARO BALLS", "SEASONAL", "FAVORITES". Tea era: I have been a loyal customer for a year now since I discovered you. I buy your drinks at least every other day. When you opened another location in Cupertino I was thrilled; even closer to my house! I would like to apologize that I never reviewed you until today. Jasmine milk tea is the most basic flavor, but possibly even the best flavor. My other favorites include Brown Sugar MT or Caramel Milk Tea and Roasted Barley. Tea era's drinks are perfectly balanced between tea and milk. Never watered down like their competing businesses. Boba is always fresh and has the perfect consistency and never over cooked or undercooked. I believe that this business has perfected boba drinks. Every flavor i have tried is on point. Quality is consistent 9/10 times. Their taro boba is pretty amazing too. The fobs that work here can be kind of grumpy sometimes. Other times you get a very friendly smile behind the counter. In the fall and winter, hot green milk tea is your best bet. It'll warm you up, and it has a great flavor. I like this place as much as Verde tea down the street (except Verde gives you larger portions). However, Verde is also a little too sweet (so there's the give and take). On hot summer days, the watermelon juice here is to die for! Quenches your thirst like none other, and is so refreshing. I like Tea Era's watermelon juice better than Verde because Tea Era is all pure watermelon (that's been watered down a little). Gosh I love this place. I've been here a bunch of times now and each and every time I am so happy with how my drink tastes I can't help but smile for the rest of the day. I love their tea drinks because you can actually taste the tea and they don't drown the tea flavor out with syrup like those other chain places do! My faves include the lemon honey with aloe and kiwi with aloe (I like aloe, can you tell??). I don't order the milk teas from these kinds of places anymore because I've been jacked by bad milk once too often (oh and I'm not lactose intolerate by the way!). $3.25 per drink is a bit pricey but I'm wiling to shell out the cash for tea drinks at this little awesome store. Don't expect to find space to sit in this tiny little shop. I recommend picking up a drink to sip on while you enjoy the weather. Their service is friendly and quick. My friends and I decided to visit this place since there were so many reviews on yelp. Unfortunately we were disappointed with our drinks. I ordered a large taro milk tea, and their large is the size of Verde's regular. I saw the worker make my drink and since he didn't make enough taro to fill the cup all the way, he added water to the drink to fill up the rest of my cup. I figured it's fine since I don't like it too sweet but when I tasted the milk tea after shaking it thoroughly, it definitely tasted watered down, and lack in that taro flavor. So I had him remake it but all he did was grab a new cup, added sugar water and poured my same drink into the new cup. My foodie buddy ordered a blueberry flavored black milk tea and surprisingly it was the best of the three drinks that we ordered despite the weird combination. It definitely tasted better than it sound. A third friend ordered a lychee milk tea with boba and he complained that it tasted like it came out of the canned lychee. This place also really isn't an ideal spot to sit and talk with friends as the interior is a bit small with limited chairs and tables for customers. However, if you are in a hurry and just want your drink fast then Tea Era is the right place for you as we got our drinks within 5 minutes of our purchase. For the sweet tooth satisfaction after a very salty and savory Chinese dinner, head on over to this establishment smack dab on the busy Castro street in Mountain View. I ordered the Red Bean Smoothie with Boba, and it was very very good. The ice was blended into a fine consistency, almost whipped, with sweet pieces of red bean throughout. I was waiting for my Mom to do her taxes with our accountant and I started to wander around Downtown Mt View. I was thinking about grabbing some gelato at Gelato Classico but I thought I would try out the roasted barley milk tea since it has such great reviews on Yelp. I was not a fan :( It was really bitter tasting IMO and I tried to like it but I ended up just throwing it away and grabbing a milk tea at Tapioca Express. I can appreciate the strong tea taste but the roasted barley part blehhh It's REALLY small inside so you can't really loiter there if your an avid loiterer like meee :) The girls working there never learned how to smile I guess but oh well... Tea Era has been around forever and they are famous for their Roasted Barley Milk Tea. Make sure to ask them to use fresh milk at no additional charge. I've never gotten anything else, as the Barley is good enough for me. Prices are reasonable as well it's 2.50 for a small cup, .50 cents to upgrade to a larger cup. read more
