Happened to be in Castro and saw people consistently lining up for Makkee Dessert. Looks like they are a popular Asian dessert spot in Rowland Heights and this is their new location. I was curious and decided to give them a try after seeing how many people kept coming and going for take out. They only have one kiosk to order from outside and offer both cold and hot desserts, giving a traditional twist to some traditional Chinese dessert staples. I ended up ordering the Mango Snow Black Sticky Rice (a little over $14 after tax) and it was ready in less than 5 minutes. By the time I got into it less than ten minutes later, the icy "snow" was half way melted. There was a small scoop of black sticky rice (about a spoonful) and some chunks of sweet mango. The portion size was tiny, definitely not worth the price. I personally wouldn't order this again but am curious about the mango sago and other items since the taste/quality wasn't bad.

Saw this place popping up on the Chinese socials but been avoiding it since I know the line is going to be long and it looks like meetfresh (which I am not really a big fan of). Was looking for a dessert spot after lunch with some friends to which I suggested this place recently opened and might be interesting to check out. They were down and so here we are on a one hour wait Sunday afternoon right before they open to try. One hour wait is okay if you want to just stand in line and chit chat with friends anyway. Def wouldn't recommend waiting one hour just to eat this though. I would say this spot deserves the highest Asian compliment of 'not too sweet' and if wait time ain't bad def stop by. I don't think there's much seating inside if any at all. There's a couple tables outside you can use though. The orders come out pretty quick and you bus your own tables. Main con I see right now is the wait time which is prob bc they only have one machine to take order.

I've been looking for a good Chinese dessert spot with chewy toppings like tapioca balls, taro balls, etc., and this new spot might just fit the bill. The Mango Sago with Mini Tapioca Balls was everything I could ask for in a mango dessert. It was mango-y and creamy, the tapioca balls were nice and chewy (I'd prefer them to be just a bit softer though), and the small bits of pomelo added a bit of tartness to round out the flavor. The Makkee Deluxe had just the right amount of sweetness, enough to bring out the flavors of each topping without being nauseatingly sweet. The different textures and flavors of all the toppings were well-balanced. The desserts were delicious and the service was fast (we got everything a few minutes after we ordered), but the seating situation is a bit chaotic. This is more of a takeout place with only three small tables inside and a couple tables outside. We waited in line for an hour before ordering at a kiosk outside the door. By the time we got our desserts, all the tables were taken and we ended up eating quickly on a bench without a table. I did see some folks reserving tables while other members of their party held their spot in line, so that made the extremely limited seating worse. If you come alone when it's busy, it might also be tough to hold a table while you wait since they call out order numbers from the counter and display order statuses on a screen inside and you have to go inside to collect your stuff. I'd want to come back to try their other desserts, but I'm probably going to wait until the hype dies down a bit and I have a better chance of snagging a table.

super long line but decent dessert place. the mango black sticky rice one with ice cream and shaved ice was the best one of all! the other two desserts we ordered - makkee deluxe and watermelon are good too but it's not "cold" enough - taste like lukewarm desserts. also notice to go containers are very small so more worth it to eat here. a bit pricing for what they give you but i guess that's jus typical. personally still prefer meet fresh over this and sad they closed cupertino loc.

We tried their signature dessert, mango sago and mango pomelo. All were well done, not too sweet and ingredients were fresh. Service was pretty fast for take out but there isn't a lot of space for eating in. For a soft opening, the wait was quite long. Almost 30 min to get to the kiosk to even order, and another 20 min wait to get the food. Prices were definitely on the high side, but would still be back.

Not too sweet and super delicious!!!!! Will be back, order from the kiosk machine, very few tables inside but it's cute, high quality ingredients and very tasty.

I am not a dessert person. But Their desserts are so so so good Not too sweet! Really enjoyed them. Nice take out bags and containers. The outside seating area is very relaxing too.

We tried the taro mochi/sticky rice, Makkee deluxe, and mango sago desserts. I loved the building and interior decor! As expected

Desserts were really good and not overly sweet, which I appreciated. The service was quick, friendly, and attentive. Overall, a great experience!

The boba at Boba Bliss truly was a blissful experience! No stale boba pearls and had a nice sweet coating that didn't make my drink taste syrupy or gummy. I also liked the addition of actual crushed up strawberries for my drink! Some places blend the strawberries to a pulp, but I like that there were some sweet and tart pieces for me to chew as I drank my drink! Their 100% pistachio cake is amazing - not too sweet and the pistachio flavor really comes through but doesn't overpower. Very creamy texture that isn't too heavy and has a fun, crunchy outer shell. The matcha raspberry is also nice and balanced - matcha flavor complements well with the raspberry gel / jam inside and is mellowed out by the cream. My family and I stopped by Marvel Cake during Mother's Day for a sweet treat on Sunday. This location is in the strip of Downtown Palo Alto and has limited parking (similar to the rest of the stores there, there is a lot of parking, and you will need to get lucky). My mom does like the Marvel Cake in their first location, so we swung by here to try this one out! Location-wise, this is a smaller shop than the original one in West San Jose with limited seating inside. I would say it's not work from home friendly however, I did see a college student next to me on her laptop so maybe I am incorrect here! The interior is nice and light, matching the elegance of the desserts. We ordered three items on the menu: the pillow cake, the bisou, and the blueberry lavender roll. Here are some thoughts: * Pillowcase cake: It may seem like this would be a fluffy cake due to the nature of its shape, but it is a gelatinous Jell-O cake with fruit jam. It was not bad, and tasted refreshing and light. I didn't know if I liked it at first, but ultimately I did come back for seconds and thirds, so this is approved. * Blueberry lavender roll cake: This was not at all what we were expecting. I did not taste any lavender, nor did it have a strong blueberry flavor. I think what threw our party off was the layer of gelatin that surrounded the cake. Texturally, we were not a big fan. * Bisou: This one was our favorite one. I appreciated the nutty crust in the bottom layer of the cake, while the filling was soft and bouncy. It is very sweet, however, but overall, I really enjoyed this one and feel like it would go great with a cup of coffee. What made the experience here a 3 instead of a 4 or 5 was the service we got. We weren't greeted when we came in, which, to be fair, is totally fine, maybe they were busy. However, the person helping us stared at us the whole time and did not really communicate well with us. When I tried to order the cakes for my family, they looked bothered that we were there, and I was not sure if they understood what pastries I was ordering because they did not repeat it back to us at all or confirm anything. When I did place the order, they slowly grabbed the plates and looked visually confused, which again, if they wanted to, I could have repeated it back to them. After they gathered everything, they put it in front of us and rang me up. The whole time, they did not say a word to me at all. Did not reconfirm anything, did not acknowledge we were there, did not say thank you. It was a bit strange, and I had to check with my family if it was me or if that was a really weird experience (it wasn't me).

I enjoyed the Ube Cashew Brownie and Milo Cupcake, but would recommend the Ube Leche Flan Cupcake for your first visit. One trend across their offerings is the use of Filipino flavors like ube, Milo, and sweet corn. It makes them stand out in the crowded cafe & boba market. On the other aspects.. the store itself isn't too big but is well-decorated. There's not much seating so most will just order to-go. The service is usually quick so that's not an issue. Small coffee shop sized with maybe seating for a dozen inside and a few small tables outside. I wasn't too familiar with their offerings, but I did know that it was chef driven and dedicated to quality. And in my short peek, I somewhat was able to confirm that. Drip Coffee (4*) Solid, bold and enough smoothness for me to want to savor it. Not as dark and roasty as Peets but good enough for me, especially to go with their delectable pastries. Kouign Amman (5*) I love B Patisserie's version that is flaky but saturated in buttery sugar but I can only tolerate 1 of those at a time. Very rich and decadent. I have never seen a version quite like Craftmans and Wolves but that is what I found adoring. The exterior almost seems fried like a doughnut/cronut but totally not sure. It kinda had that bubbled exterior but not blatantly obvious. And there was just enough sugar cooked into it that it made it stealthy sweet, I'd say easily half the amount of sugar as B Pâtisserie's. Not that I would eat 2 of these in one sitting, but I easily could. Croissant Pudding (5*) They do these tiny mini bread puddings that can be heated up. We chose it as is, room temp and it was still fantastic. They use croissants as the 'bread' so it isn't as dense as a regular bread pudding. But their custard to bread ratio was masterful and this version (think they change the variations often) has burst of fresh raspberry and chunks of Dulce which is like a caramelized/browned white chocolate made by Valrhona. (I had to look that ingredient up as I never heard until now.) And to take alternate bites between the flaky and unique Kouign Amman and the creamy and slightly dense pudding with sips of quality black coffee, just initiated me an avid fan of Craftsman and Wolves. Seriously smacks!
