If you like Meet Fresh, think of this as a more upscale version with fresher, higher-quality ingredients... you can def taste the difference. I ordered the Makkee Special and it was so good! Everything tasted fresh and well balanced (not overly sweet which i like) and I'd definitely come back again. Since there's always a long line, I'd recommend going during non-peak hours if you can. You order at the kiosk outside and then wait for them to call your number. There's minimal seating inside, with more seating available outside. They share the building with Four Seasons Hotpot. Definitely a dessert spot I'd go back to again and again!
A popular dessert spot in SoCal has finally opened its doors in Mountain View. Makkee shares its building with Four Seasons Tea House Hot Pot so just know that in case you're confused like me trying to find it. The line was extremely long at 9 PM on a Friday because there was only one kiosk. Prepare for the long wait after you place your order because it took a total of 35 minutes before we got our desserts. I ordered their Peach Gun Resin & Lotus Seed with fresh milk and Mango Snow Black Sticky Rice. Both desserts were not too sweet but it also didn't blow my mind like I'd thought it would. Definitely on the pricier side given that I paid almost $30 for two desserts that tastes mediocre. The portion was also on the smaller side. A bit overrated in my opinion, but still glad I was able to check it off my list.

The dessert was pretty good, not too sweet. We got the mango pomelo sago with taro on the side, and it was so good combined. The mango was also quite fresh. Also tried the creme brulee milk tea and it is pretty sweet - you can get it with black or green tea.
I tried coming here with my friend during the long 4th of July weekend, but the line was super long, and I didn't have time to wait, since I needed to make it back to San Francisco for an art exhibit. We made it our priority to go early over the Labor Day weekend, and luckily, there was no line. Seems the hype has died down some. My friend and I each easily placed orders on the outside kiosk. We then proceeded to find seating indoors but quickly moved outside to find shade since the indoor seats were in direct sunlight. We had to move tables a few times outside as well to chase the shade. When our desserts were ready, the first thing I noticed was how small the portions were. While I understand a lot of the ingredients take time to prepare, I thought the value was just not there considering what we got for the equivalent price of a fast casual meal. The taste was okay, but I left feeling like I could and should just learn to make the dessert at home. Not worth a combine 4-hour roundtrip commute on the Muni and Caltrain for this, but it was at least a good excuse to see my friend.

It's almost like people see a giant ass line and assume its gonna be amazing. Sad part is that the line propagates itself. Long line = more unknowing ppl line up, making it even longer. I would come back but would not wait in line again. This is worth a 5 minute wait, tops.

Tastes amazing, parents and aunt approved. It is not too sweet, tapioca was soft and chewy, taro and the roots made the dessert feel healthy and light. Overall would come again. Only thing: seating is very limited. There were many Togo orders as a result.

I had the watermelon coconut qing bu liang, taro coconut sago, and mango sago with mini tapioca pearls. Surprisingly, the flavors are good, but they didn't give me enough fruits and other additives, so I was a bit disappointed in how watery my desserts turned out and the portions in the takeout plastic cup wasn't as big in size. Interesting first impression. Staffs are detailed and efficient though. Customers looked happy inside. Overall, it's a good dessert spot to revisit. I'll probably try them again next time.

Came here Thursday after eating dinner on Castro and there was a slight line to order at the kisok outside. We got the Taro Black Sticky Rice Mochi Fresh Milk with light ice. After placing the order, I got a text notifying me that my order was ready 2 minutes later. The packaging is surprisingly luxe, I was pleasantly surprised by the bag and container. They also provide a spoon and napkin inside the Togo bag. Beware that there is extremely limited seating inside the store (maybe 3?) but I saw tables outside that people were eating at. The taro black sticky rice mochi fresh milk was very delicious. It was light, not too sweet, and very creamy. I could tell that they use good quality milk and the taro is super smooth. The sticky rice is all in a clump so make sure to break it off along with a bit of taro to get a well balanced bite. The mochi is soft even when you order light ice. Overall, it's a great sweet but light way to end the night. It feels like a healthier option. I would highly recommend this item and will be back to try their other offerings. read more
Relatively new dessert shop on castro street downtown Mountain View. Shares a storefront with a hot pot restaurant. Small area with limited indoor seating. We only tried their crushed iced dessert. We ordered online and went to pickup. Mango was fresh and sweet. The sticky rice was a bit hard. Below the fruit was a literal block of ice. It was very challenging to eat but I guess for takeout orders, this makes sense , with the assumption that after about 10-15 minutes, maybe it would have been easier to eat. The ice was well flavored though. Price is moderately high but typical for the area. Next time, probably would have been better to order in person and I think the ice quality would have been different. read more

We ordered dessert bowls with grass jelly, red beans, and a variety of toppings. The bowls looked colorful and inviting when they arrived. There was a generous amount of toppings in each serving. I liked having several different textures together in one bowl. The presentation was simple and lovely, with everything served in white ceramic bowls. Makkee is a tiny dessert cafe tucked inside a hot pot restaurant in Mountain View. There are only about three tables inside, but they have quite a few outdoor tables. We ordered the Watermelon Coconut and the Makkee Deluxe. Both were served in to-go cups, although I noticed other customers received their desserts in ceramic bowls. Maybe there was an option we missed while ordering on the tablet. Either way, both desserts were so good--perfectly sweet without being too sugary, and very refreshing. The watermelon coconut was especially nice on a warm day. I wanna try all other menu too! read more

Delicious Chinese desserts spot that lives up to the "not too sweet" title that Asians lovingly bestow upon desserts. I ordered the watermelon coconut and peach gum milk tea, and my friend ordered the taro coconut sago. We were lucky enough to snag the very limited seating indoors! The line to get to the kiosk is daunting, but definitely moves a bit quicker. I would wager that we got the three items we ordered within 20-30 minutes at night. The watermelon coconut was light and refreshing, the coconut milk was a nice liquid base for the fruits and qq toppings. The peach gum milk tea had a good texture to it that was not too thick, but not too watery/still differentiated from a regular milk tea beverage. read more
I should have listened to my friend who said this place was alright. My husband was not thrilled to line up for this place and he was right. We came here during 4th of July weekend during their BOGO offer but didn't realize it was only for To-Go orders only. We came 2 hrs before closing and by the time we ordered, each dessert was out of an element. Ordering is only 1 kiosk and seating inside was dirty and sticky. Customer service wasn't attentive and the desserts were lackluster, we didn't enjoy a single one. I liked that they had oat milk alternatives but everything was super bland. I wouldn't come back. I attended the first day of their grand opening and waited close to 2 hours from start to end. Typically I give grace because it's a grand opening and I fully expect there to be a wait but 2 hours was just insane. They only had one kiosk to order from which was why the lines were moving really slow. It took about 1 hour 15 mins to order and another 40 mins to get our desserts. We got the BOGO peach gum milk tea and BOGO mango snow black sticky rice. The milk tea was watered down but had a strong jasmine tea flavor. The dessert was surprisingly really good. Mangoes were sweet and it came with a side of vanilla ice cream and black sticky rice on top of the shaved ice. Everything paired well together and was refreshing. It's a bit pricey but I would consider coming back to get the dessert again. read more

I heard about this spot a while ago and finally braved the line for it. It looks like another meet fresh. We got the one with peach gum which was the more signature. I'm going to be honest it tasted pretty healthy haha which I guess isn't a bad thing. I do enjoy how meet fresh has the flavored ice which is why I say this is definitely a healthier option. If there's no line I would come back again to order and try the other items. What's nice is the outdoor seating but it's limited. read more
It's finally here! Had Makkee in SoCal in the past and I'm glad the refreshing Asian dessert sensation is finally in the Bay Area! Be prepared for long lines, especially in the beginning. The staff is fast and efficient but there is only one ordering kiosk which significantly slows things down. The location is small but beautifully decorated. There is outdoor seating and you can obviously order the refreshing desserts to go! The desserts were incredibly fresh, especially the mango which was perfectly (not too) sweet and juicy. Everything we tried was delicious and refreshing, especially in the strong summer heat. They even have cassava (木薯) which is usually hard to find. If you are craving Guangdong style Asian desserts and the line isn't too long, you should definitely check it out! read more
It's on Castro located near the train tracks, next to Asian Box and Oren's Hummus, sharing space with a hot pot restaurant. However, reading the sign, it seems customers have no restroom access, which is a concern. You line up outdoor and scan code to read the menu. When you reach the entrance, there's an ordering kiosk and you place your order there. Given the limited seating space (2 2 seaters and 1 3 seaters), most orders are to go. As we got lucky and got a table, we enjoyed our to go order inside and noticed that dine in portions seem to be bigger than take out. We tried Peach Gum Resin and Lotus Seeds Fresh Milk and Taro Black Sticky Rice Mochi Fresh Milk. Both can be without ice but you cannot alter anything else. We both like the Peach Gum more, better texture and I felt healthier. The line can get long as the evening comes. We waited less than 20 mins when we lined up at 7, but by 8pm, the line was three times longer and reached middle of the street. It wasn't too long a wait to get to pick up our order, so they seemed to be efficient in packing food. read more

Long line (1 hr), and pretty long wait (20 min) after ordering. I had a book that I've been trying to finish, so this was a good opportunity for me to chill and read in line. I don't understand why the order would take so long to make though. It looks like all they'd had to do is scoop the ingredients in. Most orders do not have ice, just milk. The ingredients (grass jelly, red bean, etc) were pretty good. Taro ball was just okay. Milk was good, I just wish they have a shave iced version. People keep comparing this to meet fresh, but besides them both having good grass jelly and taro balls, I don't think they're the same. read more

I had quite high expectations for this place but it really felt a bit underwhelming. When we got there, there was barely a line but it forms quickly because there is only 1 kiosk to order from and some people take their time. That also means that your order comes out quite quick, in less than 5 minutes. We got the Makkee Deluxe ($11.99) and the Mango Sago ($11.99). The portions were a bit smaller than I expected for the price. The Makkee Deluxe was kind of lukewarm and not cold like you would expect it to be. The toppings were good in terms of texture and taste, and the dessert is not too sweet, which is typical of asian desserts. The Mango Sago had some icey portions, which was a bit odd for mango sago. It tasted good, though it's hard to mess up mango sago. Overall, I felt like the desserts had some flaws but did taste good if you overlooked them. However, it did not feel like anything special compared to other dessert shops that make similar desserts. read more

The menu has plenty of variety, from silky tofu pudding and sago desserts to mango-based specialties, so there's something for every sweet tooth. The desserts weren't overly sweet but honestly nothing really stood out to me here! The prices were high for the amount you were getting and the line was so long. The interior is small and only 3 seats inside. The seats are mainly outdoor but you barely can find any. I wasn't please on how long I had to wait as I came with a super big party. Makkee Desserts is the definition of "not too sweet" which is a compliment in the Asian community. Their ingredients taste fresh, not too sweet, yet flavorful. The price for their desserts is definitely on the higher end but quality is good and portions are not big but acceptable. They are a small shop where they share half of first floor store with the hotpot restaurant that is two stories tall. Makkee Dessert has one kiosk outside of their shop right at the entrance where you order. Most of their seating is outdoors but there are also 3 small tables inside the store to dine in. There is a monitor where you can track when your order is ready for pickup. The two desserts we ate at the shop were the Taro Black Sticky Rice Mochi Fresh Milk ($11.99) and the Taro Paste Snow Black Sticky Rice ($11.99). Both were delicious! For to go desserts, we got two of the Makkee Deluxe (Warm) ($11.99 each) and was told it was also delicious. Food was nicely packaged. The female worker who called out my order number was polite and friendly. Overall we had a great experience here. Just wish there were more indoor seating but everything else was great! read more

Popular new spot for dessert in downtown mountain view. There was a decent line post dinner but it moved fast since the self ordering kiosk outside is pretty efficient. I got a taro milk with fresh mochi and black rice and I didn't realize it would be so much milk. Next time I'd order something else, but the taro and mochi toppings were good. It also wasn't too sweet, which I appreciated. They package the takeout containers well and it comes with a nice bag as well! read more

Once you order, your desserts take less than 5 minutes to be ready. We decided to try the Mango Black Rice Dessert & the Taro Tapioca Dessert with Oat Milk. Both were delicious in different ways! If you prefer a sweeter dessert, get the Mango Black Rice Dessert! It was much sweeter since it includes ice cream and chunks of mango. This one was my friend's favorite! If you prefer a less sweet or "not too sweet dessert", then the Taro Tapioca Dessert with Oat Milk was so yummy! The sago and the taro balls were so chewy and delicious! First time at Makkee Dessert after seeing all the hype online and long lines. We went on a Wednesday afternoon around 2 pm so there was no line, but shortly after we ordered a short line began to form. Their location is inside Four Seasons Hot Pot on the right side once entering. While there's limited seating inside, a lot more seating is available outside. There is one mobile kiosk to order from outside the building. The Original Deluxe is your classic Chinese dessert, not too sweet and with herbal and earthy flavors from the red beans, lotus seed, and grass jelly. It comes with milk to pour over. I would recommend not putting all the milk in to avoid watering down what's already in the bowl. The Mango Sago was nice and refreshing, sweet but with some tartness. I found the popping mango boba to be a fun surprise. This option would be best to choose for anyone who is unfamiliar with traditional Chinese desserts. Overall, this is a solid dessert spot but pricey for what they're serving you.
