Taning met my expectations with its balance of fresh, healthy flavors and deliciousness. I came here on a Saturday morning after lunch, and the line was pretty short, but there was limited seating. When you first come in, you turn to the left to order at the kiosk, and to the right of the shop is their pickup area. The store itself is pretty cute and matches their clean aesthetic. They have around 4-5 tables inside, along with a small outdoor seating area. I noticed they have a couple of prizes (trinkets) that they give out when you earn a certain amount of points with them through their rewards program (using your phone number), which was pretty unique! I didn't claim anything this time, but I will definitely try to rack up some points. When you order, you receive both a text confirmation and an assigned order number. Near the seating area, there is a monitor that shows the status of your drink, and they will also call it out through their automated system (not the barista). In total, I waited around 10 minutes for three drinks, which was not bad considering I saw the workers hand-smashing the lemons and preparing everything by hand. Here are the items I got: * Avocado Pistachio Oat Matcha: This came in a really unique shaker bottle that allowed you to pour the drink into a shot cup (not necessary, but a cool experience). The drink itself was nice, creamy, and buttery. Note: use the large straw for this drink because there are huge chunks of oats (which were tasty). The pistachio and avocado also worked really well together, and it was not too thick. *Superberry Salad: This one tasted nice and tart, but thick (like a smoothie, because it is one). I tried the apple and kale fiber fruit drink and it really reminded me of the kale boost tea from heytea except it was sweeter, had more chia seeds, and didn't have any tea? The portion size is also bigger, but I wish there was tea! Drinks were very pricey tho. I by tried the Smashed Wampi Lemon Tea, the Super Berry Night-Antioxidant Salad Drink, and the pistachio avocado drink (not pictured). The berry smoothie had a beautiful color and tasted decent, but I wasn't a fan of the oats mixed into it. I would recommend adding ice to it. The Wampi Tea had a lingering bitter aftertaste that felt a bit off and not refreshing. The pistachio avocado drink was also underwhelming. I would rather get a traditional avocado smoothie elsewhere. I do like the concept of a healthier fruit tea shop, and I'm open to trying some of their shaker bottle drinks in the future. Sunnyvale has so many great things to discover, and I recently found this Chinese drink store called Taning! They have such a wide variety of drinks, including fresh fruit tea, smoothies, and milk tea that all look delicious and fresh. I tried the Pistachio & Avocado Coconut Drink and the Signature Phoenix Oolong Boba Milk Tea, and both were absolutely amazing. The milk tea had a very strong tea flavor, but I like it that way and absolutely satisfying with the milk tea quality. The avocado drink was creamy and I loved that it came with oats, which added a nice texture for my drink. I also really appreciated the packaging for the avocado drink, it was so cute and functional, came with a cap so I decided to wash and keep it for future use! Overall, 10/10. Yummy healthy drinks right next to a malatang restaurant. TALK ABOUT FLOW STATE! Stopped by on a Friday evening and no wait at all. It's a cute little place with some seating and I like that you can order on a Kiosk.    I got one of their popular drinks called the Avocado Oatmeal Pecan Smoothie which was almost 9 bucks. Inflation in this economy aint no joke. I got it at 50% sweet which was perfect for me. It tasted rich in Avocado flavor and I really enjoyed the oatmeal bits on the bottom. It comes in a fun bottle that you can shake and twist the cap of.    There were two workers making drinks at the front and my friend and I had to wait less than 10 minutes for our drink to be ready. Read mixed reviews for the P&AOM drink, but I actually really liked it. My bf and I downed that drink together. Thought the design of the cup was quite creative and smart, and hope to return to get that $1 off if you bring the reusable cup back. Just not sure how it would work if we're ordering from the self serve kiosk tho. Ambiance is quite modern and bright. I like the layout. It wasn't too busy but we felt the rush after ordering when there was suddenly a huge influx of the weekend crowd that came in right after us. Came on a Friday after lunch, around 1 pm. There were a few people waiting for their drinks. You order at the kiosk on the left when you walk inside. Very spacious, lots of seating. I like that there's a queue on the screen, like 11 drinks ahead of you. Surprisingly, I got my drinks faster than I expected from the queue. Staff are friendly and open to questions. They were sold out on a few drinks, so my mom was bummed out. She ordered their Avocado + Strawberry drink, and I ordered their signature Phoenix oolong boba milk tea. I was a bit confused when they said boba was sold out on the menu, so I added sago. But when I got my drink, there was boba inside... Anyway, I got mine at 70% sugar, which was recommended. My mom's drink was 50%, which she said was a bit sweet because of the strawberry being sweet already. So if you're the type that doesn't want too much sweetness, go for 0% for the Avocado Strawberry drink. One of the newest additions of health drink shops in the South Bay. I've read that it's recommended to order in advance and pick up to avoid the wait so that's what I did. Drink was ready by the time I arrived ~20 mins. Only 1 person working at the moment so it took awhile to get the staff's attention to retrieve my drink even though I was standing right in front of him at the pick up counter.. There was no one else waiting around in the store on a weekday afternoon but while enjoying my drink, someone came in to order at the kiosk and their drink was ready ~5 mins Ordered both pistachio avocado specialty drinks that came in the shaker bottle, less ice and 0% sweetness. Loved that even with 0% sweetness, the drink was still good !! Consistency was creamy from the avocado yet still light from the coconut milk and filling from the oats. Couldn't quite taste the pistachio but did taste the coconut. Of the 2, I liked the avocado pecan smoothie a little more just because it was thicker and had the crunchiness of the pecan! Store isn't too big but have some indoor and outdoor seating. Drinks are about $9, on the expensive side but comparable to shu shia. The avocado pecan smoothie was quite good! I got 0% sweetness and found it sweet enough. It's a nice smooth avocado smoothie with some oats and sweet crunchy pecans for some texture contrast. The pecans paired surprisingly well with the smoothie--loved getting a little burst of sweetness and crunch every few sips. I'd say this drink is on the expensive side, but not significantly, so I'd probably still come here on occasion. The plastic shaker cup seems quite sturdy and reusable. Though I personally don't think it's needed for the drink experience, so I'd prefer an option to get it in a normal cup. Edit: I saw that you get $1 off your drink if you bring back the shaker cup, so that's actually pretty good and more environmentally friendly! Service was really fast and easy. I ordered the Pistachio & Avocado Coconut Drink, Avocado Coconut Smoothie, and the Avocado & Kale Salad Drink, and everything tasted fresh, healthy, and not overly sweet -- which I really appreciated. The avocado drinks were creamy and smooth, and you can tell they use real ingredients. The Avocado & Kale drink was surprisingly good and felt more like a healthy meal than just a drink. I already have four of the shaker/cocktail cups from this place, so if that's any indicator of how much I like it, then you already know. To be fair, I've only had their Avocado Pecan smoothie, but the crunchiness of the pecans goes soooo well with the butteriness of the smoothie. I usually opt for about half sugar, though my friend said it didn't taste like anything (ugh, rude), so just something to keep in mind before you order. For some reason, not many people know this, but the store (at least when I went a week ago) offers a student discount--20% off! Just show your ID, but you'll have to flag down a barista rather than ordering from the kiosks. I also heard you can get a discount for trading in your shaker cups, but they're so cute that I just keep mine. P.S. For some reason (and maybe I'm doing it wrong), it says to shake the smoothie... New lemon tea place replaced the old Moomo Tea. The inside looks mostly the same as before, with the whole seating area still available. The menu is extensive with lots of options for different lemon tea. The drinks remind me of the lemon tea places I had in Hong Kong. We got the frangipani jasmine lemon tea and myrobalan lemon tea. The frangipani is very strong floral, and the myrobalan tastes like pomelo. They were both really good, but I think I'll just stick with the regular jasmine lemon tea next time. On my quest to try out all the tea franchises that don't exist in SoCal, TANING is on the list and god damn, I really wish they expand down into SoCal too. I feel like most of the tea options in SoCal are mostly milk tea based so it's refreshing and nice to see one that is more fruit based, but this location does have milk teas as well. I believe you can order ahead, but they have an order kiosk there. When we got there, we were lucky to get a sat since every table was already taken. This was in the early morning/afternoon on a Saturday, so I can't imagine what it would be like on a much busier time, so keep that in mind. There's plenty of parking since it's tucked in the back of a plaza. For our order, we got the : 1) Green Grape Myrobalan Jasmine Lemon Tea: - I have NEVER even heard of myrobalan fruit before seeing it on the order screen. Apparently it's a fruit used in ayurvedic medicine inn South Asia and Tibet. Rich in antioxidants and has a bit of a tart and sweet taste mixed together. Love that trying a drink here let me try a new fruit that I've never heard of! -I got this 600cc cold, with less ice and at the recommended 30% sugar. Usually some places either only recommend at full or 75% so it's neat that they recommended an even lower level of sugar. I feel like anything lower would make a lot of these fruit teas much more tart. -Love the fresh fruit used in the tea. Grab a thicker straw so you can eat the fruit bits too. Sweet bits of grape with the tart and citrus taste of the other fruits. Very refreshing in the winter, probably slaps even harder in the summer. 2) Bitter Melon and Apple Fiber Fruits Tea: -GROSS. VERY GROSS. Tasted fine at the first sip but the lasting flavor of bitter melon (one of my least favorite foods) becomes super apparent. -Very healthy I'm sure since there's so much beneficial fruits and ingredients in it. Comes in a unique cup so you can "shake" it and mix it up if it settles later on. Or you can pour it out and take shots. Pretty cool. -Boyfriend really liked this drink and said it was refreshing too. And again, very unique as I've never seen bitter melon offered at any other boba place before. Heard about the grand opening of Taning and glad I got the chance to go. The drinks are so yummy and refreshing. Not too sweet and much healthier option compared to your regular boba drinks. If you're looking for a healthier alternative that hits the craving then go to Taning. The Kale Grape drink is recommended as no added sugar and keep it as that option the drink comes naturally sweetened already. The guava drinks are both as yummy, keep in mind the strawberry one is a bit tart but they use fresh fruit. I will be coming back when I want a nice refreshing drink. read more

I've been to Taning twice now since they took over Moomo's space. Was upset the latter closed down but Taning's proven to live up to the hype. I actually stopped by here three times but the second time, they must've run out of ingredients or something. My friends and I were walking to the entrance on a weekday prior to 3pm when a couple employees sitting outside came up to us and apologetically said they were closed despite seeing customers inside enjoying their drinks. It is soft opening technically so hours aren't solid yet. Customers at the outdoor seating looked at us in pity and one of them even told us to go to Molly Tea instead. Girl! We were headed to TP Tea after that LOL. Drinks I've tried: *Signature Phoenix Oolong Boba Milk Tea *Avocado Pecan Smoothie *Pistachio & Avocado Coconut drink (iced, not blended) I first had the phoenix and their tea is quality-- comparable to Molly Tea taste. Mildly strong, floral tea when it's 0% sweet (boba makes it sweet enough for me). The boba was more on the firm side as fellow Yelper friend Cherylynn mentioned. I'd rather have al dente boba than soggy boba. Avocado pecan smoothie is amazing!!! I got 50% sweet I think, might've been the lowest level. The smoothie is smooth haha, not overly thick and the pecan crumbs give the most satisfying sweet crunch in every sip. Had no idea this has kale blended in! The reusable shaker bottles are so cute as well. A friend got the pistachio avocado coconut drink, which is coconut milk based. It's topped with avocado milk cap and crushed pistachio with oats at the bottom. They have an oat milk version too. Their staff is excellent! Two of the employees I interacted with were so cheerful and genuine. They gave me a red envelope the day before LNY for their raffle and mentioned the winning numbers would be announced on their Instagram. I was taking photos of the drinks outside and accidentally spilled a little on the table. One of the ladies working inside (maybe a manager?) immediately rushed outside to hand me napkins! She must've seen through the window. She kept thanking us for stopping by and I loved her energy. I'm curious about their bitter melon & apple fiber fruit tea which includes jasmine green tea, kale, and lime but I'll always go for the avocado pecan smoothie. They have guava lemon tea too. Looks and feels like a healthy boba place. I am yet to try their avocado drinks. For now I went with my usual favorites Oolong and Black Tea. I got the Keemum Black Boba Milk Tea. It's a nice balance of Black Tea and Milk. I got 30% and it's just right for my sweetness tolerance. The Signature Phoenix Oolong Tea has lemon on it and it's both citrus and refreshing. Got the frangipani jasmine green tea from their signature series! They recommended 70% sugar and we got 30%, I think probably okay to bump it up more especially if not adding any sweet additions! Has a very nice citrusy floral fragrance The store was nice, clean, airy, not too noisy and definitely not as crazy crowded like it was when soft opening. read more
