We had dinner here tonight and really enjoyed the meal. We arrived around 5:30 and we're seated very quickly. It was fairly empty at that time but around seven when we left it definitely had gotten busier. We started with an order of the meatballs. They had good seasoning and were a decent portion size.(three coming in order.) but it did feel like they could've been heated a little bit longer. As they definitely weren't hot hot when they came out. There were three people in our party and one person got the spaghetti carbonara and said it was really delicious. It did appear to be a smaller portion in comparison to the other dishes. The other personal party got one of their specials, which was fettuccine with shrimp and salmon in it. He said it was very good. I got the vodka sauce pasta with pancetta and it was delicious. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. The sauce was very delicious. I actually wish I would've had some of the bread they brought to the table still so I could use that to soft up the sauce. Our Mario was very pleasant and always attentive. We came here around 8pm and was seated fairly quickly. What I love about Taverna is their outside patio that is climate controlled and makes you feel comfortable even when it's hot. Our waitress was very personable and kind to us. We received their complimentary bread for appetizer, and with the sauce it's really good. We then ordered the "garganelli all arrabbiata" and the "tortellini panna prosciutto e piselli" and it was delicious. The only thing was that the tortellinis portion was a bit small for my liking since I eat quite a bit. We then finished off the night with the chocolate lava cake and ice cream. I've visited Taverna several times for brunch and have always enjoyed the atmosphere, food, and overall experience, so I was excited to return for Mother's Day with my family. Unfortunately, this visit was very disappointing. First, I want to acknowledge our waitress, Stephanie, who was incredibly kind, attentive, and professional throughout the experience. The manager was also polite and did remove an item from the check, which was appreciated. However, there were several issues that made the experience difficult to enjoy. We ordered the meatballs as an appetizer, and they arrived cold. After letting the staff know, another order was brought out, but unfortunately those were still cold as well. The biggest concern was the sanitation issue. We were seated in the covered patio area due to the rain, and there were multiple tiny flies/gnats around our table. My sister noticed them first, and later I unfortunately found one on my salad plate, which completely ruined my appetite. My mother did enjoy her meal, but my sister did not enjoy hers at all. She ordered a pasta dish with red sauce and felt it lacked flavor to the point she couldn't finish it. The wine was great, and the restaurant itself is still a very cute spot with a nice atmosphere, which is why I would consider returning in the future. Since I've had positive brunch experiences here before, I'm hoping this was just an off day due to the weather and patio conditions. Came here for an early lunch on a Saturday. We weren't offered the complimentary bread with pesto olive oil that some reviewers mentioned receiving. We started with the Chef's Focaccia, which was served more like a thin pizza--unexpected, and not quite what I had in mind. The flavors were bold, though. As a vegetarian, the options felt a bit limited. Our server didn't mention the specials, but I noticed them on the board and ordered the gnocchi with asparagus and beetroot in a pumpkin cream sauce. Of all the restaurants I've been to, this is at the very bottom of my list. The ambiance and location are nice, but the food is terrible. The second we sat down we were greeted with water with floating particulates in it that we had to return. That was the first red flag. The Chicken Scarpariello was bland, and a poor cut of chicken full of rubbery skin and cartilage and covered in some sort of gravy. The fingerling potatoes were cold while the chicken was hot. The sausage was good, but I doubt they made that in house. The Eggplant Milanese was dripping an oil and the canned tomato sauce on the side did not make it any better. The salad on the side was wilted The Eggplant Parmesan was edible, but the pasta on the side was too acidic to eat. The Kale Salad that was started with was actually pretty good, but the the bread lacked flavor or salt. All of that for a $94 meal. Finally, the service was really sub par. The waiter seemed annoyed we sat down to have a meal. I hate leaving bad reviews, but there are so many great restaurants in Legacy West. You'll have a much better night in my opinion at North Italia across the street. read more

We really enjoyed our dinner at Taverna. The food overall was tasty and well prepared, the pasta dishes were flavorful and thoughtfully done, and the kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. The atmosphere is lovely and lively. It does get loud, but not to the point where conversation was difficult, which we appreciated. We were treated to a complimentary tiramisu for a birthday, which was a kind gesture and very much appreciated. That said, the dessert itself missed the mark, it was quite soggy and lacked the flavor you expect from a classic tiramisu. I'm mentioning this only because everything else was strong, and the contrast stood out. Overall, a great spot for a fun, energetic Italian dinner. Tried out this restaurant today with my husband and my mother in law. Inside and outside of the restaurant is beautifully designed. For drinks we got spritz which was pretty good but the Aperol flavor was a bit too strong. For food we got the chicken pesto pizza, the ravioli, and bolognese which in my opinion as far as quality were pretty average in taste and flavor. Service was not bad however I was a bit disappointed in lack of knowledge of our waitress on menu options as she was not able to provide recommendations for food and let us know everything on the menu is great. OMG!!! We had lunch there. I had Caesar salad with pan seared FRESH salmon!!! Our waiter Mario made the day special! He asked if I wanted it prepared medium and I said yes. Then he also asked if I wanted anchovies I said sure. While we waited they brought out delicious bread that had baked Parmesan cheese and basil on top. Soooooo good! The Caesar came out with whole romaine lettuce leaves and a sliver of anchovies. The salmon piece was HUGE!!! This place was a delight! We ducked in here for some reprieve yesterday while taking photos with Santa. My almost 3 year-old daughter and 14 month-old niece loved the chefs focaccia as did us adults. It was like a less rich and heavy version of pizza, but without sacrificing flavor. Helpful tip, the chef's focaccia goes really well with the sautéed spinach! We also ordered zucchini chips that were nothing short of amazing. We ended our meal with white chocolate bread pudding, which was so delicious. It could've been a lot better. And I wish it wasn't as expensive, but it is what it is. Not to say it was bad, but I've had (just recently) another Italian place and maybe I'm comparing too much. We came for the brunch time patio weather - Legacy West people-watching is top-tier entertainment - and stayed for the $3 mimosas. But the food? Transportive. One bite of the fresh focaccia and pesto and we were suddenly overlooking the Italian coast. The burrata melts in your mouth, and don't even get me started on the Taverna Hash (perhaps more Texan than Italian, but we'll allow it!). Devin was the real MVP of our experience though. Intuitive doesn't even begin to cover it. Water refills appeared like clockwork, fresh pepper was offered at just the right moment, and somehow he read our minds before we even knew what we needed. The bruschetta was kind of disappointing, as it didn't have that punch of cheese or tomato flavor and just felt like i was eating bread. The zucchini chips were very good tho and the dipping sauce is so addicting. For entrees, we all ordered different things. I got the ravioli marmeni, and a chefs focacia for the table. The raviolii was cooked well, but i couldn't taste very much cheese while it was being drowned in butter. It definitely did not look like what it did on the website but whatever. The focacia was more like a plain garlic cheese pizza, but the dough was very crispy and satisfying to eat. I also tried some of my friends Tagliatelle Alla Bolognese, and the sauce tasted watered down. The tiramisu we got was almost like a tres leches, and was delicious. The place wasn't too busy, so it was nice to sit and talk. I'd probably get something else or just stick to the appetizers next time if i come back. read more

I've been meaning to make a trip to Taverna for a bit since I'm always in legacy West. I had an opportunity with my sons to go in this past weekend because we checked the menu and it stated on their online menu that they had the Cacio E Pepe dish made on the round pecorino cheese bowl. Unfortunately, when we arrived and requested the dish, they said they no longer make it, which was a complete disappointment. It is still on their online menu. My son's had a different pasta dish, and I had the gnocchi with short rib Ragu. We started out with the bruschetta and the bread and olive oil that they offer, which were both good. My sons enjoyed their dishes however I was not crazy about the gnocchi dish. It has a hint of something at the end that turned me off from the sauce. I had maybe five bites and packed it up. The cleaning staff member with glasses and short hair needs additional training. She started cleaning my table while I was still sitting there, closing my check. As she wiped the table, she grumbled and mumbled about the crumbs from the pizza, saying "messy, messy" under her breath. About 15 minutes later, she tried to pass through and ended up pushing my daughter's friend out of her way. I ordered the Burrata Caprese salad. This did not come with balsamic vinegar, why I am not sure. I definitely recommend asking for it on the side. Came here again to celebrate my anniversary with the husband. Taverna is located right on legacy west so there's plenty of parking but you may have to walk a bit. It was a bit busy but not extremely crazy- we had a reservation too. We did have to wait longer than we expected before anyone came to bring us water. We ordered a bottle of wine- pinot noir- we were happy with our choice. The place is very nice and romantic inside. The lighting dimmed and the set up/decorations are welcoming. We ordered the zucchini chips with the truffle aioli- chips were good- but the aioli was just mayo with no truffle flavor. Which was a disappointment because we love truffles. My husband ordered the mushroom risotto and it was delicious. So flavorful and perfect for cold weather temperatures. I had the cacio e pepe and the pasta was cooked perfectly and it was tasty and flavorful. Lastly for dessert we had an Italian old fashioned and I was surprised on how good it was made and strong which is the way I liked them!! I recently came here for Christmas Eve dinner. We had a reservation and it seems like that's the best way to go because every time I pass by this place it's always very busy. We started with drinks and focaccia. The focaccia is heavy on the Parmesan and was very flavorful but kind of wish I had some marinera to dip it in. It tastes like fancier cheesy bread. The margarita was delicious and they did not skimp on the alcohol so I felt like I got my money's worth. For dinner my husband got steak and I ordered the veal Marsala. While the Marsala was ok I kind of feel like it lacked some seasoning. The true standout was the chocolate lava cake. It's small so it can easily be enjoyed alone or shared if you're stuffed like we were by the end of the meal. I would come back here purely to enjoy dessert. Ryan was everything you want in a great server: attentive without ever being overbearing, thoughtful, and somehow always one step ahead. He noticed details before we even mentioned them and anticipated our needs with this effortless kind of ease. When I commented on how incredible the mussels' sauce was, he didn't just smile and move on--he brought the remaining sauce packaged to-go, along with fresh bread so we could enjoy it again at home. That small gesture summed up the whole experience: above and beyond in the best way. We were truly impressed by him. If you are a garlic lover try the rigatoni all Norma. This is a vegetarian dish with eggplant and aged ricotta. The sauce was robust and the eggplant was cooked perfectly. The garlic however was overpowering for me. I think if you love garlic, then this is your dish. I also tried the burrata caprese which was fresh and addicting. It was so good that I tried to recreate the next day. (Successfully). The zucchini chips with truffle aioli were thin and crispy. Also addicting. I will not be trying to make these-I know my limits!
