Taverna missed us on the food but was still a great experience. I came here with about seven people for dinner. Getting a table wasn't an issue. We shared lots of items. One of the best things we had was their round focaccia bread, bruschetta, and zucchini chips. Those were amazing. I love that their zucchini chips were fried perfectly and came with a yummy aioli sauce. I definitely recommend those. The carpaccio was also good and was topped off with some sprouts on top which was nice. We also shared a charcuterie board which was cool and went with our wine. What I did not like was their bread stick focaccia which was pretty gross. It came with a pesto sauce which I didn't care for. For myself I ordered a short rib gnocchi, which was eh. It came with some red sauce. I probably wouldn't get that again. Service was average. The inside of this place is small but it has a cozy intimate feel. Honestly, I don't expect much for restaurants around this area but this one impressed me. My favorite was probably the free bread lol. The pizza was good but too bad they don't have pepperoni or salami pizza because those are the only type of pizza my kiddos like. I also liked their grilled octopus and carpaccio. Went on a Saturday night with reservation, restaurant was pretty busy. I got the Margherita pizza, which I had gotten at the Highland Park location. This pizza had little flavor and too much sauce. I found that the Highland Park one was better overall (I gave that location 4 stars). I found the food better and service better at the other location. At this location, it felt cramped and like our waiter was rushing us. Our waiter told us about a special dessert (while we were not finished with entrees) and didn't mention it was extra. Location is great. Right at the heart of legacy west and retail surrounding business. Parking may be hard on weekends or for lunch, but plenty of garage parking with elevators. The environment here is busy on weekends but overall our two experiences here have been good. Not too fan of their bruschetta appetizer but their entrees were great- attached a few pics. I'd say it's more Italian than the typical commercial Italian we have in town and portions are reasonable, good taste. First time was a business dinner and Marin took the BEST care of our table. Let us sample a few of the wines we weren't sure about. I visited Taverna today with me sister who was in from out of town. I have been to Taverna a few times before. Previously the food was decent but the portions and quality were fair. Today was unacceptable from the service to the food. My sister ordered a diet coke it was flat and turned out to be diet r/c. My mimosa was warm and tasteless. We then ordered the bruschetta. It was supposed to be on toasted ciabatta bread. It was on untoasted french bread and tasteless. After we finally got the waiter's attention to tell him that it was not edible, we returned it and ordered something else. One table away the manager asked the waiter about it not sure what was said but watched the manager walk away. He should come straight over and apologized and asked what they could have done to correct it but no eye contact or acknowledgement, but he went on to the next table. We then order the veal carpaccio. It was served with so much black truffle oil that it was inedible. The oil was dripping off the veal. It was disgusting. We still can't get the oily and truffle taste out of mouths and we both love truffle oil. This is the first bad review that I have left but people work hard for the money and shouldn't waste it here. Nice touch with the crispiness on top. The toast is like a loaded kind of toast that truly is one of a kind topped with smoked salmon, capers, onions the entire nine.
