This review was posted to Google Maps previously and was replied to by the owner, I'll put the reply at the end, but I found it satisfactory. Great food, interesting sporty atmosphere. The service by our waiter Maggie was wonderful, She gave us a run down of the menu and some suggestions of her favorite dishes and drinks. I got the Star Pizza and my partner got the Spaghetti with Chicken Parmesan. We also got an order of the Artichoke Classique as an appetizer. I quite liked the Artichoke Classique, It was like a cross between fried pickles and a blooming onion, would recommend! My partner's spaghetti was pretty good, the noodles tasted fresh and springy and the sauce was exceptional. The chicken that came on top was well seasoned, but was noticeably burnt. My Star Pizza was the highlight of our meal, such an inventive dish. The dough was well cooked, both in the calzone pieces and pizza pieces. The points of the star are filled with delicious ricotta, and I don't even like ricotta. And the middle has flavorful pepperoni. I would have loved the points of the stars to have pepperoni as well, but this was still an amazing dish. Aside from the burnt chicken, this place was amazing and I look forward to coming again. Visited on a date night with my partner. We ordered fried artichokes to share, I ordered chicken Parmesan, and my partner ordered the Star pizza (a special here). The fried artichokes were alright, akin to fried pickles in a way. I felt pretty average about them but they weren't gross or anything. We did substitute the sauce for ranch since I'm not a fan of spice. My pasta was surprisingly better than expected. There was a pleasant bite to the noodles and the sauce had a vague wine flavor to it. However, the chicken was burnt and I honestly could've done without the fast food pizza esque cheese on the top. Overall a decent dish. The Star that my partner got was great. The ricotta pockets were lovely and the dough around it was cooked very well and tasted great. My partner expressed that he wished the pockets had more ingredients inside them but they were good regardless. I felt pretty average about my experience here. It was slightly above avg food but nothing like some other Italian foods of a similar price in the area. I can definitely vouch that the pizzas seem stronger than the pasta here. read more

I saw Cane Rossos get nominated for their pizza but I wanted to start with their appetizers to go. It's clear to me they don't skimp out on quality. The cheese is nice and heavy on the garlic bread and the wood fire gives the bread a superior crust and fluffy interior and earthy taste. The fried nuggz are quite cheesy which was great and the sauce was a saucey sauce I finished by itself at the end. I'll be trying their pizza next! When I ordered it over the phone the staff was lovely too. EDIT: I ordered takeout again and got the honey bastard. People complain about how thin it is but I say that's the way it should be - less focus on the bread so you can focus on the flavors. The pizza lives up to the name - spicy and sweet and the protein feels like a bastard in your arteries. (I exaggerated that last bit). The pizza alone brought my 4 stars up to 5, I am very pleased with the outcome. I'll be trying the margherita next! read more

This was our first visit to this location but frequented a location that closed down in Fairview many years ago. Was excited to see the honey bastard on their menu, as it use to just be on the Secret menu. The pizza arrived quickly and wasn't delighted by the looks of it. It looked like there were grease puddles all over it. It was served without a pie server, so had to grab the slices either using our hands or weird 3 pronged forks. The pizza wasn't cut well, so had to tear it, which was sloppy bc the pizza was a bit undercooked. When finally lifting the slice, it was incredibly limp and the ingredients fell off. :( The meats on it (bacon jam and soppressata) both tasted reheated and that flavor overpowered the pizza in the most unappealing way. The crust was my favorite part...sad to say. Not the soggy part that all the ingredients tried staying on, but the part you hold onto to eat a normal pizza that's cooked well. We ordered a couple frozen drinks, which a few were on daily drink specials at $5. They were too sweet for my liking, but at $5, I'll endure the sweet. The service was good. read more

3.5/5 Stars experience for me. Cane Rosso is my usual go to when I'm craving Neapolitan pizza they have a decent happy hour and food is (usually) served fast especially if you get just a pizza. I came on a weekday at the start of happy hour and it was relatively slow but seemed they're a little short staff as it was a while before anyone noticed me waiting to be seated and the pizza took a while to get to me even though it was made pretty quickly. Overall it will still be my go to for Neapolitan pizza if I'm near The Star area. The taste is consistent and they have a rotating monthly special pizza that is always fun. Service wasn't bad, just a little slow and can't rate it 4/5 stars for the subpar experience compared to better previous stellar service. read more

WHAT THE HELL KIND OF RESPONSE IS THAT?! no, i just spent $70 for a pizza and 2 pastas. i think you need a new job not talking to customers. what terrible customer service. i work here at the star and will not go back. will not use them for catering at my office or events, and will certainly not recommend this location. foods not that good either. overpriced. read more

Been here a couple times and I don't remember it being so bad three years ago, dined here this week with my son and the food was horrible, the pizza was thin had a little to no sauce and the pepperoni and crust were burnt. The mozzarella bites were tiny and lacked flavor I was extremely disappointed I remember the macaroni and cheese being so good years ago. The only thing good was the ranch and beer lol. Right across from the Omni Frisco, the food was amazing! The fried nugz are a great take on mozzarella sticks, the little warm bite sized treats. I also ordered the Alfredo with breaded chicken. They came in bite sized with the perfect noodle. If I was local I'd definitely make this a spot I visit, the menu had a lot of great options I'd love to try. We have visited Cane Rosso on may occasions since moving to Frisco 5 years ago. Their pizza is the best we've had in the Dallas Metro area. We lived in San Diego for 35 years and had the opportunity to travel to LA, Chicago, NYC and other major cities-theirs is the single best. They would successfully compete with Lombardi's in NYC-listed as the oldest and best. There is a reason that a recent survey in a Pizza Today cited them in the top 20 nationwide (Number 17). And, they were the only pizza in the Dallas Metro area to make that list. What we love: Their staff is always friendly, responsive and knowledgeable. They have one of the best Happy Hours in North Texas serving both discounted wines, beers and pizza. Stopped in for a late lunch with the family during the week. Super cute restaurant and we were greeted promptly and seated. The lunch special here is unbeatable and was well enough for 2 meals. I love wood fired pizzas and so far, I believe Cane Rosso is my favorite. The first time I went was about a month ago, we ordered a margherita pizza with fresh jalapeños and split a chicken fettuccini alfredo pasta. When we got our food, our server mistakenly gave us a pizza with pickled jalapeños, but then we asked for fresh jalapeños and she quickly grabbed us some in a ramekin. The pizza was spot on, whereas the Alfredo pasta was unique-it wasn't bad, it was just very different from what we expected, but we wouldn't order it again. The second time we went was last night, on a Thursday. It was very surprisingly very busy. We were sat in the patio by the hostess and we sat there for a while without getting any help. Two of the servers outside in the patio kept looking at us, but didn't reach out. A table was then sat after us and the server immediately attended to them then we saw her talking to a person outside the restaurant across the street. After a while, the hostess came up to us and asked if we've been helped yet and we told her we have not, so she helped us. We ordered everything right then and there and everything came out within a reasonable time. We weren't given any side plates nor silverware, so I had to grab them myself on the stand-there weren't any side plates on there, but I did get us silverware. It was also a game night where the Dallas Stars were playing, so the TV playing upstairs was right above us and it was extremely loud (not the restaurant's fault). We ordered a pomegranate mule, fried nuggz, and a margherita pizza with fresh jalapeños. The pomegranate mule consisted of a variety of fruit flavorings with vodka and ginger beer. However, it tasted like straight vodka with a tiny hint of flavorings, didn't really taste much ginger beer. It wasn't what I expected and if I were to get it again, I may ask for extra syrup/juice. The fried nuggz is just mozzarella cheese bites-very mediocre, but the marinara sauce was fresh and good. For the margherita pizza, this time we did get the fresh jalapeños like how we ordered. However, this time the pizza was very wet and soggy. When you would pick up the pizza slice, all the topping would immediately slide off of the crust. It was still good, but not as good as how we got it the first time. The flavor was the same, but the texture was not. The first time, the pizza was baked to perfection. I don't blame them, it was a busy day and I totally understand how it goes because I am also in the food industry. Just because our second experience wasn't as great as our first, we would still give it another chance. I just hope the next time I go, the service is more attentive. read more
