My husband and I had lunch here yesterday. We're familiar with their chain as we have been to the Newport News store several times. The Chesapeake location is much bigger than NN with a larger area to prepare orders & it came out much faster. The sandwiches are always good and the bread is fresh. Chesapeake offers wine & beer. You can also get a sampler of 4 types of beer or wine. A whole sandwich run $7-10. We belong to the rewards club where you buy 12 sandwiches & get one free. Well the value they give you free is only $5 which doesn't get you a whole sandwich. 4/17 signature half sandwiches is available for $4.99. I recommend the Northender- Turkey, bacon, avacado, lettuce, tomato, basil mayo on French bread. read more

EAT. HERE. New location for Chesapeake - much better than that tiny deli across from Total Wine. Plenty of seating with one large wooden mead table that seats about 18. Phenom fresh menu fare with plenty of sandwich options to satisfy anyone. My favorite is the Peter's Pick, which changes each week and comes with a drink and chips for $8.25 - the most economical choice, I believe, and the sandwiches are always good. The soups are good, and even the baby-poo pea and ham soup with prosciutto we had on Sunday tasted much better than it looked! I also had the weekly special, a Saltimbocca sandwich, essentially chicken parmesan and mozzarella on bread - excellent, but a little heartier than I was expecting - great for a cold day!! There is also a great selection of gelato for those than can so indulge. Lots of selections of Virginia food and wine for take home, and there is a sampling of about 5 varieties of peanuts/mix. While visiting Chesapeake and staying in a Crossways Blvd area hotel, we stopped in here for lunch. We were instantly impressed with the looks - love how they had samples of various cheeses and popcorns out for trial. Half of the place is a gourmet food store with lots of nice, local VA wines and the other half was dining room. The menu was amazing and impressive as well! There were so many tough choices, but we each picked one and really liked what we got. They had several soups available and they allowed us to taste what they were like before selecting one. The Jerk Chicken Soup was amazing and really unique! They have fresh cheese spreads they make, the Sassy Southern Cheese was OUTSTANDING!!! The staff was friendly and all smiles and the restaurant was nice and clean, with prompt service. We just wish there was one of these in the Fredericksburg, VA area, so we could go more often! read more

I was running late and didnt feel like waiting in line as usual when i come to taste. I called and placed an order (for 1 sandwich) when i was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. I get there and wait an additional 30 minutes before approaching staff about my order. They talk in quiet for a couple minutes before telling me they forgot to put my order in and I need to wait ANOTHER 45-60 minutes because of the wait.... I was just like can you make it real quick or give me a refund and the one employee was getting visibly irritated that I had the nerve to question why Im waiting 2 hours when I ordered 30 minutes before I arrived. She even turned the screen around to show me how many orders were in front of me! Ive been to taste dozens of times (and still will go) but stay away from this location. Hello Taste! This may be the cutest little place ever! I love how they have all types of snacks and wines to serve all while still serving food! So there was a rumor a while back Taste was coming to Richmond... I am still hoping for that even though I haven't seen it. To start off the beach crunch is everything! If you haven't gotten it before, you are missing out! It's a little snack mix and I have no idea what they put in it, but it's so worth it! As for food, typically I always get the beach club but, after my new favorite discovery the inlet, I may just be eating that every time I visit from here on out! So good and a vegetarian option if that's your thang! They also serve ice cream here! I've always been a really big fan of taste, but unfortunately my budget doesn't always allow me to eat here haha! I came in here the other day after not coming to a taste location in quite some time. Since the last time I've been here it seems as though they have renovated a bit and rearranged the store, and it looks fantastic! There's not traffic between the ordering counter, the store section, or the eating area. It's very bright and open. I tried their fall special, the ham and pepper jelly sandwich, and I loved it! The sweet pepper jelly balanced out the salty ham so well, and the arugula added a nice peppery crunch! I would definitely order it again. My go-to is usually the lynnhaven or the northender, which are both equally as fabulous! The bread here is always so delicious and everything tastes fresh. It's like a local Dean & DeLuca! I thought this would just be yet another expensive sandwich place, but there's so much more...tons of gelato flavors, the best spinach and artichoke spread ever, habenero chips I am obsessed with. I had a chicken salad and ham sandwich with house dressing on French bread and loved everything about it. Even though it's pricey, $9 for a whole, the sandwich is quite large (such thick slices of bread!) and will fill you up! Only two things I didn't love about this place: 1.) it gets quite busy and loud and 2.) having to purchase everything separately. I would have LOVED a small side of red potato salad with my Sammie, but didn't want to buy a quarter pound+ container of it. read more

I Love Taste Unlimited! The new location in Chesapeake is AWESOME. I like having actual space to eat or shop the awesome items. My fave is the Northender. Service is very good. Haven't had a good experience at all. The location I went to, Many of the workers seemed really tired and don't really care to ask for your needs, and seemed annoyed when asking for help. Ordered some food and was really sloppy. Other than that, the layout of the store is nice and has a good vibe/atmosphere. I would like to mention I came around 1, and not near closing time as it would be more understandable and expected that many are tired and need rest. read more

I've always loved Taste and their food is always great but if you're short staffed in the kitchen instead of having two people prepare food take one of the six that are working the front and put them in the kitchen. The new system needs some work too. The days of order turn pay when your food is ready needs to come back instead of watching people walk around confused trying to find table numbers. read more

Taste was something not of my typical meal. I had been sick so I wasn't in the mood for the usual so I decided on something light. I got a turkey and cheese sandwich with tomato and feta soup. You can tell they use fresh ingredients. The food just had that extra umph to it when it came to flavor. Recently changed their options and they no longer allow you to order half portions of anything which is frustrating. I have tried hard to like this place. It's pretty popular in the area. It's expensive for a sandwich spot. I have also tried their wraps and salads. I got the chicken ceasar wrap and it was 90% lettuce. I ended up pulling out the few pieces of chicken and eating those. The dressing was not right. Really pungent. I recently gave it one more chance and got half of their Thai peanut salad. Not impressed. Half of that, half a sandwich and a drink was $20. Save your money and eat at Jason's Deli. read more

I like the place, a rather high end, eclectic deli and more.Even if full of people, there is a certain less noise, like everybody is purposely eating their meal. Service was good and the staff friendly. The place is also full of good beer and wines and they have good prosciutto. I had the "Virginia sandwich" most of time, and their soups are good. I CANNOT believe the service at the Greenbrier location is getting so terrible. This is what happens when you become greedy and decide that service comes second. I stopped in and noticed it was a slow period with at least 10 employees standing around. I stood at the counter for at least 5 MIN waiting until someone decided who would take my order. After my order was placed, another employee asked for my name for my ticket. After my sandwich came out, it sat on the counter with 2 people walking by looking at it and moving on. One of which decided to go in the corner and FACETIME! Then someone came over and saw I was waiting and decided to help. I've always loved TASTE...anytime my family comes from out of town, they have to come to your location. Went for gelato and the taste was excellent. However, the service was poor. We bought 3 large containers of different gelato and had to ask for them to be labeled. They were not labeled for us but instead a sharpie was provided for us to write it ourselves. Then when we checked out, we had to ask for a bag. Instead of our items being placed in the bag, the bag was placed on the counter for us to put our items in ourselves. This is piss poor service that should be improved upon. read more

If you want to feel close to the Lord himself, GO TO TASTE. When I walked into the wonderful restaurant's double doors it felt like I was walking through the pearly gates of Heaven. If you're looking for the full holy experience try--NAY, you MUST look for the warm angelic face and beautiful soul of a god in the flesh named KYLE; you will not miss him, his smile will light up the entire room, and his patch of red hair will make you feel feelings that you never thought were possible. But before I get too carried away...I should talk about the most amazing and magical sandwich I have ever consumed in my whole life! Well, the angelic KYLE (color)blindly created with his godly hands a divine creation consisting of a buttery croissant baked to perfection, honey mustard straight from the bees hive, fresh picked apples from granny's backyard, brie cheese from the cows of France and some slightly above average ham. When I bit into this sandwich I think I crossed over to the other side, as a matter of fact I think Pegasus escorted me there (I'm also Greek). BUT THEN a part of the delicious granny smith apple got lodged in my esophagus! Before I knew what was happening I felt two strong manly hands grasping me sturdily, with burning force he thrusted into my abdomen, dislodging the granny smith apple, a skill he could have only acquired from nursing school. (By the way I think he has totally been working out lately. He is the patron saint of squats.). Since my first encounter with Personal Jesus I ritually go to Taste and I truly believe that their service is of the utmost tier and their food has provided me with rebirth. When I caught wind of his soon departure my world stopped turning. It was like heaven and hell collided. I knew I would still be able to come into Taste and get my beautifully created sandwich, but I would no longer be able to see my Heavenly Host and get lost in those steely blue eyes. Since my world ended I took it upon myself to go to Taste EVERYDAY KYLE was working. (I managed to find out his schedule from how often I would come to stare at him from a far.) Unfortunately my "too frequent" visits led me to being banished from Taste and has made my life spiral out of control...Regardless, I still give extreme praise to Taste and HIGHLY recommend it. God's Sandwich Shop is real, and it's in Greenbrier. Also, if someone wouldn't mind picking me up a the signature KYLE sandwich I will pay for gas and double the price. This is place is like the Anthropologie of food. I think I just made many females out there swoon. There is so much to look at. OMG want it all. A purse? A grab and go? Wine? GELATO! Plus fresh veggies and affordable prices. Swoon. Grabbed a salad, bottle of wine ($11) to split out of real glasses and some gelato. Love that they recycle and the outdoor patio. Just a warning to anyone that try's to eat here for lunch, make sure you call in your order ahead of time even if you're going to dine in. The lunch rush at this place is crazy and it only seems to stop after 1:30 if that. After they expanded I think it helped settle some of the congestion they had since the line would literally be out the door to the parking lot. This place is pretty great and the food is wonderful. There menu has a great variety when it comes to sandwiches, salads, and wraps. I usually get the Northender as a wrap. I've also had a few of their salads which are great also. One of our clients loves this place so we always go pick up lunch for them whenever their in town. My coworker and I also love to order our food out. It's convenient that there is a separate register just to pick up to go orders. It helps us avoid the crazy line that forms. Their desserts are really good too. The snicker doodle and chocolate chip are among the favorites in our office. The variety in chips are pretty interesting too granted I don't get them often but everyone else seems to be quite fond of them. They also sell various cheese spreads, wine, and gelato.
