I feel like I walk around with a Target on my back, but this store does too, except that it doesn't walk around. I'm not a big fan of Target, but Barbi likes it, and this one is conveniently located right off Interstate 35. Unfortunately Interstate 35 is often packed full of cars these days and can be a real nightmare to negotiate. But it's better having Target here than not, I suppose. I'm not a fan as I said, but you can find a lot of stuff here for about 50 to 100% more than Walmart, while feeling like you're actually shopping at a place that doesn't treat you like a prisoner in a maximum-security wing. read more

An average target location that carries a good mix of products. If your looking for men's clothes, the men's section is limited compared to the newer and bigger targets like Arboretum or Lakeline. Same with houseware and bedding/bath stuff. There's plenty of parking and it's easy to get into but leaving the parking lot takes more effort as it is near the messy airport/51st/290 interchanges. You can go the back way on Cameron road which is easier. Tends to be busy at all hours as well. It's definitely an upgrade over the other downtown locations near UT and east Austin if your looking for more selection. read more

This has got to be the most trashed, disorganized and gross Target in the US. Why does it always look like an earthquake just happened in there? Stuff is always all over the floors, the aisles are cluttered, nothing is where it is supposed to be, and they're always out of stock on things. You can't figure out what prices are because there's no organization. The employees act super immature and careless, that probably has a lot to do with it. A bunch of children. It really comes down to management honestly. It just feels like your quality of life drops immediately upon entering the store. Once I asked a staff why the store was always such a mess and she blamed the guests. Tells you a lot about how they view their responsibility to keep an organized store. This store is ran by a bunch of incompetent young adults that have zero ability to provide customer service. I had made an online order for convenience and because I had other plans that evening and did not have time to shop. When I arrived, my order had not been prepared despite receiving an email many hours earlier in the day indicating that my order was ready. I was in the store waiting for 30 mins while the service team scrambled for a solution, in some cases even put me on hold while other customers were assisted even though I was there before them. There was no urgency to help me or any assurance that they would do everything they could to make the situation better. After 30 mins and a tremendous amount of frustration from this situation, I was simply given a refund and told I would have to re-order the items I wanted. It was a massive waste of my time and after all the effort, I still did not even get my order completed. I will remember this negative experience any future times I need something and will most likely just prefer to buy from Amazon instead of dealing with an incompetent staff at this store. read more

Clean & well-stocked. This location has the smaller grocery section (i.e. - it isn't a full-sized grocery store like some of the Targets have); I always prefer the stores with the full grocery sections, but I realize this isn't a feature that's intended to be in all stores, so I'm not knocking any stars off my review because of that. The women's beauty section is the area that really stood out to me. This is one of the locations that has the expanded & updated beauty & cosmetics section. I love all the additional brands & items on offer & the layout is aesthetically pleasing. I very much appreciate this location! It was a great find on the side of the freeway. The store was quiet, very clean, and well stocked. This location had a plethora of vegan items and even some items that my location does not have. I did not expect that because of the look of the area where it is located. I found everything I needed and ended up buying more than I meant to buy (because....Target). Tip: the exit runs up against the interstate, so I had to wait so cars to slow down to jump in and exit. read more

Do not buy anything canned for order pickup. Several times I've bought different flavors of Waterloo and the cans look like they're about to explode. There is no flat end on the bottom it is bursting out so you can't place them upright in the fridge or on the counter. Also, make sure you double check expiration dates if you are doing drive up. Apparently the employees there do not. Several times I've gotten expired food. Nothing that is easily breakable like chips or cracker should not be ordered via drive up. I'm wondering if someone is in there just kicking stuff around or something. Now I have to drive back up there just to return this stuff. Drive up service is trash. Do yourself a favor and do an order pickup at HEB instead. read more

A little disorganized, but we were able to get the items we needed while running errands here. Located in north Austin, close to a main highway, it's easy to get to and is nearby other businesses. We visited Target to get some items while traveling and it was fine for the most part. Departments were easy to find, but items in some departments were misplaced and shelves were disorganized, especially where apparel was. Unlike a Starbucks at Target like back at home, they had their own kind of cafe and a refreshments area that old school Target used to have, like the popcorn and slushies. Yeah, you remember. It's nice to have this Target in the area, especially where other main businesses and restaurants were, making it easy to run errands and such. 3 stars is about right - seems like there's a pretty good consensus. The thing about big chains is they never seem to have enough resources to manage an individual store. Sure, they can operate well on a national level, but they miss a lot of things just do to the sheer number of people working under them. The CEO of whatever company owns Target doesn't have time to check in on all thousand locations or whatever it is. The consequence of this is that they end up doing things sloppily on a local level, with underpaid teenage employees that couldn't care less about giving good customer service. This Target is great unless you have any trouble finding something. If you do, expect a look of utter confusion on the face of whoever you ask. I'm not normally the type to give one star reviews, but this store could bump itself up from a 3 to a 4 if they just trained their employees a little better on where everything is located. That said, the cafe is actually a nice non-crowded spot to work. Everyone goes to the coffee shops when actually some of these less indie stores are good for sitting down and replying to emails. read more

I could understand/tolerate a little mess - but this much, unacceptable! Decided to forgo shopping for any clothes, as I didn't want to deal with the mess. This is a busy store! We were there around 8 on Monday and the parking lot was packed. We were able to find everything we wanted - lunch items for our week here and some snacks. It's not the cleanest store, but it's so busy I would imagine it's hard to keep everything stocked during business hours. They could really use more checkout clerks, too. There were lines back to the clothing section. Overall, it was a good experience. We were able to find everything we were looking for and the young guy who rang up our order was really friendly. I like this store. It's bright, spacious, clean and organized. The employees I've encountered are polite and helpful. They have nice merchandise. Their "clearance" endcaps are like hidden treasures. I went into Target today for the first time in a long time and I was pleasantly surprised! The store was very clean and the carts were plentiful, clean and functioning perfectly. I had a shopping list... and they had everything I needed in the grocery section and it all was very easy to find. I usually love going to Target but this 1-Star is specifically for my experience there today. Went to look for a couple of Target-Exclusive items (Toys) cause I saw they had 2 in stock. Got there around 8:30am and didn't see them out on the racks. Asked a worker if she'd scan the upc bar and see if it was still in the back. She did and went to check. She came back telling me she didn't see them but that they'd just started unloading the truck so it could be a while cause it was "crazy" back there. I asked how long and she said she didn't know. She took my number and said she'd call when they showed up. I waited a few minutes and then went to get something to eat. I came right back because these items are in high demand and selling for 4-5x their retail price. I came back because I didn't know if she was gonna hold them for me, call me when they were on the floor, etc. I'm a collector, not a scalper. I just want a couple for myself and since my worksite got rained out, I had time to try and pick them up. Long story longer, I ended up waiting inside the store til after 11am. I know they were busy getting items on the floor so I was patient. I finally stopped a guy and asked for his help. He obviously had other things he was working on cause when I asked for the help he said, "Yeahhhhhhh." with the look of a kid who just ate broccoli for the first time. I tell him about my interaction from the morning. He scans the item and sees they're "on hand". He then pages the employee who helped me earlier and annihilates my explanation of our interaction and let's her know that he's busy "archiving". She states she didn't help anyone in toys in the morning. Now this didn't bother me, cause I know from experience a managers job can be hectic. She comes over so he can leave and tells me another employee is getting ready to restock the aisle. Before going she scans the item again and goes to the back. I wait another 10 minutes hoping for the best. Instead she comes back informing me, "I don't know what happened...we cannot find those items in the back...I still have your number and will call if they turn up." That last part is what gets me. It reminded me of stories I've heard about employees keeping items to sell themselves or hold for scalpers who throw some money to them. Also was reminded of a Target employee at Southpark Meadows who told me he'd taken money for certain items. In his case it was a Michael Jordan Funko someone gave him $50 to give them. He had just gone to the back and gotten two "on hand" items for me and told me that story, not sure why. Anyways I check the app I use to show Targets inventory after I leave and sure enough, the stock drops from 2 to 1. Then an hour later it drops to 0. So this 1-star is for that employee that obviously needs a raise. And yeah, it does reflect on the whole store cause it's being allowed to happen. read more

While my girlfriend and I were away for the weekend visiting Austin, we decided to get some snacks and provisions for the hotel room. Where better to visit for such items than the local Target? I'm a fan of Target, even at home. Obviously this Austin location isn't my home Target since I don't live there, but it was just as fast and friendly as the one I regularly visit back home in Fort Worth. You likely already know what Target is, what Target sells, and if they are a place you're interested in trying or not. Wal-Mart is a little cheaper, but a little bit lower quality on a lot of things as well. It's a trade-off. Wal-Mart may save you a few pennies, but it's always busy and packed with people and the poor staff are over-worked and under-appreciated while Target remains a viable alternative. Last night I took advantage of the Target in store pickup /curbside pickup for my husband's Valentine's Day gift. When I got to the store it was really clear where to drive up and pick up. Even if you at first pick to go into the store to get your order you can always change it to the drive-up option which I did. it was extremely fast like literally two minutes before I had my order in my car and I was on my way. read more
