The first time I came, Tapped was still affiliated with EQ (April 2017). Beer was great, so I overlooked the rubbery fat chicken sandwich I was served and the ridiculously overpriced appetizer options. Second time, an insanely overpriced underwhelming southwest salad and music blaring at 4:30 pm in the afternoon made me run for the separate tap room. Third time, just picked up a pint in the tap room - it was fine. Final and last time - I was rudely told I could not use the bathroom unless I ordered a pint, after spending $$$ on EQ beer, patronizing their business previously, and there only being 3 people in the tap room (so no one was waiting for the bathroom). Rubbery chicken put me off the food -- wasn't prepared well. Live music was overly loud to the point of not being able to think -- and it wasn't even 5PM yet. Evening/nighttime entertainment I can understand, but blaring music at 4PM with several tables a few feet away from the speakers? It was difficult to enjoy the experience. Also, should note they no longer are affiliated by name with the awesome Equilibrium (the brewery), hence the name change. So if you're waiting on line or picking up beers in the same building, be aware that asking Tapped where their bathroom is will be greeted with "you have to buy a pint to use the bathroom" -- even if you just spent $200 on beer in the same building, they hadn't made the name change yet, and there are about three patrons in the entire restaurant. Regardless, the food wasn't good, the food took a long time, and the service was very inattentive in the several times I've been. read more

Really wanted to like this place but it just fell short for me. The service was AWFUL. Took about 25 minutes to get a beer and even longer to get food. We went for lunch and it took over 2 hours and the place was virtually empty. The wings were delicious I have to say. We ordered the honey BBQ wings. They were large, filling and came extra crispy as asked. From there, it took about 45 minutes to receive our lunch. Ordered the sliders. Server asked if we would like cheese, to which they charged $2 extra for. They weren't anything special. The meat was too dry for me. Fries were good. Finally ready to leave & the bill was incorrect. The wings are half off, so $5, from 3pm-6pm but they were charged at full price. Always check your bill!!! Also during this happy hour it says "$1 off all beers" but they said it doesn't count if the beer comes from a can. No where on the menu does it specify that but it just wasn't worth the headache to argue for $1. Also, they advertise Equilibrium Brewing heavily on the building and you can oversee the beer production but they don't offer the beer for purchase. Would definitely host an event here again!!! My review is based on hosting an event at the restaurant and not a random bar night. With that stated, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. We were having a wedding in Middletown and need a place to get all the out of town guests together after the rehearsal dinner. The manager Paul, was amazing and accommodating. Went has far as to text me pictures of their group room. Great elegant decor, private bar and bathroom to easily hold 40 people. Even a few pinball machines and TVs for sports. Helped me set everything up over the phone seeing I live in DC Long story short, I booked from 8:30-10:30 but wedding chaos delayed us until 10pm. I called them to see if I could save the night and Paul made my night. He and our great bar tender Gary, kept the place open for us hours after closing. The were pleasant and polite and never angry with us for our issues. Just wanted us to have a great wedding weekend. Amazing atmosphere with great drinks in a great space. We didn't have a lot of food but apps were good. Huge bonus was the prices for the quality. Being from DC I expected huge tabs for liquor and beer and was pleasantly shocked when the tabs came. So we arrived at 7:05pm. Waited a bit for our waitress but once she arrived the service was was as expected. We ordered our drinks and food smash burgers and wings ( were a party of 3). We got our drinks and then maybe 20-25 mins later the waitress ( not sure her name) came to tell us our food would be out shortly. 30 min later still no food--we wondered whether they were butchering their own meat-- and we had not seen out waitress since she came to tell us our food would be out "shortly". Not sure what her definition of shortly might be. We decided to pay for our drinks and leave to find a place to eat. She was advised of our decision and she left to go into the kitchen for a bit of time and came back out with an attitude and so she spent time removing our food order from our bill and then placed the bill on a clip boa d and she then proceeded to throw the clip board at us onto the bar and stomped off into the kitchen. I will never return to Tapped in Middletown. I would suggest going anywhere else in Middletown if you want to eat. read more

The best wings I've ever had in town!!! Hands down! It all started with the Breaded crispy exterior, that led to a cooked to perfection wing, and ended with a tangy yet sweet Thai Chilli sauce. Left me wanting another order!! Washed it down with a Sip of Sunshine IPA that had "a perfect paired" bite to it. The Staff is so friendly....so knowledgeable on the different craft beer selections. Shoutout to Greg C. and his most excellent review! After reading that, I did what he said and went to Tapped. Did not regret it! I took a friend with me and we had no trouble distinguishing Tapped from Equilibrium, so if you're paying attention it shouldn't be too hard to determine where to enter the venue despite the fact it exists in the same complex as another business. Anyway, the beer was good and I liked the pickle chips I had as well, but what I REALLY loved was the staff! Greg is right when he says that Paul, who has a lovely Irish accent, is super into music and quite knowledgeable about the subject. I came away with a new artist to listen to! I also met Sebastian who has a sense of humor I thoroughly enjoy and was bantering with myself and other customers all night. In my estimation, Sarah also possesses great humor and though my interactions with her were fewer and constituted less time than what I experienced with Paul & Sebastian, it was still notable enough that I remember her. I'm not one to write reviews normally, but since I enjoyed the service I received and the experience I had at this establishment, I felt compelled to do something nice for them and leave a positive comment like this. If you're the type of person that can interact with a venue's staff in a jovial manner and have a decent sense of humor yourself, you'll have a good time with these people. There was a larger seating area away from one of the bars which had some music playing a little loud so was glad to have option. Wings ordered were okay. Have been here before and after their grand opening. Had their craft beers the first time when they didn't have a food menu and thought they were pretty good. Unfortunately had a weird glass the first time, probably the end of the keg or filter needed to be replaced? Idk. Second time was much better. Food was tasty. We ordered 2 orders of wings and nachos. Meat was tender, cooked well and flavorful. Wings were breaded enough and sauce was plentiful. Prices were decent. As for the beer I'll just say it was pretty decent (I'm not a big beer guy so I don't want to sway anyone's opinions). They did have some pretty near fruit infused flavors most of which had creamy fruity flavors and a bitter finishes. I will be back for sure many times. Great beers and pretty decent pub grub. Went on a very quiet Tuesday afternoon, and started with a beer flight. Definiltely stick to their IPAs and double IPAs. All were pretty fantastic (with the highlights being Photon, MC^2, and MMM.mosa), with an great creamy/juicy mouthfeel, and they all went down a bit too easy. The one sour we had (there and back again) was not very appealing, altho I have heard their bottled fruited sours are pretty decent. Onto the food, we ordered a burger and veggie burger. Both were rather tasty, and cooked well. We ordered the roasted brussel sprouts, though we both felt that they were over-dressed. Overall, great place. Will definitely stop by again when in the area. Just under an hours drive North from Jefferson NJ. Is Middletown NY. The drive up North is pleasant and picturesque, rolling hills and farmlands rich with black soil. Perfect for onion farming. As you near the center of Middletown the farms and countryside give way to a more populated and industrial town. Here we found this brewery ironically located right next to the police station and courthouse (no problem). I was impressed with their setup. Walking in I noticed a roll up garage door with high tables and a pulling station set up. There's a grill room just up a flight of stairs with a bar at the far end. We were greeted by a young lady at the top of the stairs and given the options of a table or the bar. We decided on the bar and after taking a seat we were greeted by Sebastian who handed us the beer and food menus. We order a flight (4 choices $10). The food menu was nothing special but I have to say the grilled chicken salad I ordered was delicious, and hit the spot. The beers were good. Not sure how long they've been in business but I wish them a long and prosperous one. The beers I tried were fantastic. Growler fills are done downstairs. Had an opportunity to meet a group of friends here for their advertised St. Patty's day brunch. Part of the party had called ahead and made a reservation for 6. As it turned out we were the last of the group to arrive 10-12 minutes after opening. Was told they had initially split our party of 6 between two tables but was then consolidated to a booth. While the menu looked good and the food coming out to the other tables looked good while we were occupying our seats that is about all that I can say good about the experience at Tapped. Our party attempted to order coffee and was told that they were having trouble with their "new" machine. They ordered an order of the Irish soda bread toast for the table prior to my arrival which never came. After about 20 minutes the place was packed and it was obvious that they had a skeleton staff and were totally overwhelmed. It would require of me physically flagging down waitstaff to try and find out who our server was. To which the answer was it could be any one of the three serving staff working. The order for coffee and ice tea was placed. To which the coffee was delivered one cup at a time to 5 people over 20 minutes. Other tables had received their food. And it was interesting watching the skeleton crew waitstaff occupying more time behind the bar serving customers at the bar then they were waiting their tables if they even had tables assigned to them. At this point one of our party went to find out if there was a manager on duty that we could speak to you regarding the total lack of organization and service that we were receiving. The response given back was nobody seem to know exactly who the manager that was on duty but they would send them over to speak us. Needless to say we never saw a manager or our ordered food before we got totally disgusted and got up and left after a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes of waiting. It's a pretty sad commentary for somebody ( a service business) to advertise a holiday brunch and be so totally unprepared and disorganized and keep giving excuses of "well everybody came in at once." Profess to not know which manager is on duty. And that manager not to present themself to a group of customers when requested. This rates negative "stars". And would give some explanation to the rumors of the split between Tapped and Equilibrium. And there are Plenty of other places within and around Middletown, NY. Came here Saturday after rafting in the Poconos. We were looking to eat at a brewery before driving back to the city and this one was open the latest (9pm). I had a flight $11 and you get to choose 4 of their in-house beers. There were 2 pale ales and 4 IPAs to choose from. They were good but I wasn't particularly blown away by any of them. The Vulgar Display of Flower was the favorite. I also got the hot buffalo wings, 8 for $10 and they were big and delicious! I was surprised by how spicy they were. We have been to Tapped a few times in the past few weeks and received great food, drink and service but today topped it off. We brought my parents, who are from Ireland, for Fathers Day and Paul was our bartender. As usual the drinks and food were awesome but when Paul started playing Irish music for my parents it was above and beyond! When I saw a sparkle in my fathers eye I knew it made his Fathers Day.
