Our party of 4 walked in on a Friday evening and was able to grab a table against the wall. I had a Grimm blackcurrant pop sour and fish tacos, and tried the fried chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Everything was really good! read more

Stopped here with some of my car group on our way back to the DC area from Ticonderoga NY. One of our members said she wouldn't have come to a place like this in the 1970s, and our waiter confirmed that in the 'early' days when the place got started there were some violent incidents. The place has kept the 'dive' vibe alive, but it's quite safe to visit now. And the food is quite good! One buddy (who always gets a reuben) tried the ribeye sandwich and was very impressed - though we called it the reubeye. I had the hard pressed Cuban and it was wonderful. And the fried pickles are cut lengthwise, so you get a better experience than slices - they're called 'frickles'. Definitely worth a visit when you're in the area. read more

Scotchtown Craft is a great local spot that has great food, soothing drinks, and an amazing staff. Ambiance is perfect for happy hour or a late lunch on Sunday. Imagine if church pews were replaced by old 45s, nice whiskey, more than nice gins, and a giant plate of tacos. I was here for the fish tacos and they did not disappoint. The fish is similar/the same as the ones used for the fish and chips, crispy with just a touch of chipotle aioli. Slaw on the side. I had the craft non-alcoholic arnold palmer. We also shared the brocolli bites, maple bacon buffalo wings, and I want to say a salad. Next time, I really want to try variations of the wings and loaded fries-potatoes-chippers read more

Great beer, friendly service and good food. Had buffalo shrimp and some great local beers. Sat at the bar. Small place.

Needed a good meal after my son ran the spartan race at Bethel Woods. This was an easy to find, close to the highway hole-in-the-wall spot and it was so good! The reviews were great so we gave it try and we enjoyed everything we had. I wish they were closer to us because this would be a staple if we were locals. The short rib poutine was to die for - complex flavors and delicious sauce. I could have eaten the short ribs as a meal itself. Give this place a try! read more

Great atmosphere, delicious food and super fun & kind staff! The burgers were delicious & the fried pickles were sooo yummy. Great mix of beers and cocktails as well. Will be back for sure. read more

I freaking love this place. Brian and the other bartenders are great, food is good, drinks are good, I love hanging out here. Couldn't recommend more. read more

Very cool spot for a bite and beer. Had the Nashville Fried Chicken Sandwich with the onion rings. It was better than I expected. My friend had the Scotchtown Pasta. Also excellent. Definitely worth a visit. read more

I got the spicy burger with the the spicy fries and two beers. The beers were awesome. The fries were ok, but the seasoning wasn't really spicy. The burger was also good, but I wanted more of a spicy sauce on it. I'd try a different burger or the wings next time. The food took a normal time to get out and the gentleman working there checked in on us a few times. Overall it was good and I'll stop in again if I'm in town. read more

Stopped in to this unassuming craft beer bar on a whim and ended up finding a hidden gem! My wife and I were in town for the night and needed something to eat. Not being a fan of the other places just off the highway we ventured a little further into town. The beers were cold and good, the service was friendly and attentive and the food was amazing. I'm still thinking about the old bay wings and the Unc rib eye sandwich I had. My wife enjoyed her grilled chicken sandwich as well. Next time we are in town we will 100% make a stop in to have some food and drinks! read more

I stopped by for dinner and was glad I found this place. It's either a good restaurant with a cool bar, or a cool bar that serves good food. The service was attentive and friendly and the food came out quick and was delicious. I had the maple bacon buffalo wings. I'd order them again. read more

Great vibe good drinks music was very good only downer kitchen closed at 8:30 but stop by just to hang out chill with friends

Great find, Brian the bartender was awesome. The best margaritas and pesto chicken sandwich. Well worth the trip off the highway. read more

Scotchtown Craft - Beer Bar Near Me - Middletown, New York

Little hole in the wall restaurant bar with remarkably good food, drink and beer selection, and cool vibe. We just happened upon it, and had a great experience. Service was gracious and low key. A most mellow place. We had some draft beer and some canned Alchemist beer. I had fish tacos that were tasty and spicy. My other half had enjoyed her crab cake sandwich. Prices were reasonable. Most people there seemed like regulars and were comfortably enjoying the subdued atmosphere. If we're ever by this way again, we'll stop in. read more

Hidden gem! Driving past, you wouldn't even know that something was amazing is located in this little strip mall. The bartender greeted us right away when we came in and got us started on drinks right away (we had been traveling all day and this was so, SO appreciated). The tables were moved in a way that made seating a little awkward on the high tops in the front (had to reeeeeally squeeze in there and I'm a pretty small person). I opted for the OMG Crab Cake thinking.. y'know. It's a crab cake. Just one. How good could it be? I just wanted something small to tide us over until a big dinner later that night. So a crab cake. Just one crab cake. What arrived at our table was a glorious crab ball that I'd eat every day for the rest of my life if I could. It was huge, crispy, tasty. The side salad that came with it was a perfect complement and I left feeling comfortable - not super full and not wishing I had gotten TWO crab cakes instead. I got a basic whiskey/diet and it was great! Believe it or not, you CAN screw up a drink as simple as that and the bartender was great about recommending one of the specialty cocktails if I was looking for something nice with some whiskey and honey in it. read more

Scotchtown Craft - OMG Crab Cake - Beer Bar Near Me - Middletown, New York

It's a local pub/bar. Seating inside is small and limited. Not really meant for a whole sit down meal experience. We sat at the bar bc that was the most comfortable place to eat a meal, the drinks are okay, the food was also okay. Nothing special or out of this world, but nothing was terrible read more

Top Favorites 5 Alarm burger 10/10 Spicy margarita 10/10 Scotch town is one of my favorite bars in town. It's a local spot so you will often see familiar faces. Everyone is so friendly and really care about the food and drinks they serve. I remember one day, I burned my hand so badly prior to grabbing dinner at Scotch town and one of the bartenders brought me a towel with ice to give me some relief, something I didn't even ask for but they picked up on. Everyone is just amazing!!! In terms of food, I usually love getting the 5 Alarm burger, fish tacos, pork tacos, and nachos which are all a hit. The salmon is also cooked to perfection. My go to drinks are spicy Margarita or a passion fruit margarita which are delicious! You can't go wrong with anything on their menu. read more

First I will say the maple bacon buffalo chicken wings are definitely worth the trip! For my meal I had two of all their tacos. My fav was the pulled pork but they were all great. Service was helpful and attentive. For a small place they made a big impression. read more

A cool and quiet local bar with delicious food and drinks! We were very impressed! It's one of our favorite restaurants we went on this trip! We kept thinking back to this place even after eating at a lot of the more flashy, more expensive restaurants in NYC. read more

A gem right off the highway! Well worth the pitstop for affordable sushi, varied menu and friendly staff.

The food was delicious and the bartender/waiter held it down by himself!! The drinks were tasty as well

Arrived upon opening, walked in and the chairs were still on the bar. How awkward. I had brought my friend here for a birthday beer, thank goodness an ex-worker walked in and served us a beer. The bartender didn't show up until 15 min after opening. The guy in the kitchen had to remove the bar stools while we stood there waiting. We left and went elsewhere. Didn't get to try the food but may come back in hopes of giving a better review and more Yelp stars! Beer selection is good, food menu looks standard of a pub. read more

Best food and drinks in Scotchtown, my wife and I love the tacos and margaritas. Great beer selection!

Bartender was very helpful in picking beers I would like. Burger was good and fries were a little overdone, but decent food. This is a true hole-in-the-wall local place. I would recommend a visit! read more

Nice place with good bar food but the bartenders need to do less talking and more bar tending.

We love it here. Sometimes the music is a bit loud (and sometimes the customers) but the food is always great. Long list of beers and tasty cocktails. Prices are reasonable and service is good. Our favorites are the tacos and poutine. Parking can be right, and there aren't many tables for 4 people but it's worth waiting a few minutes for one to free up. read more

Scotchtown had a great selection of local beers and great food options. This would be a great friendly neighborhood bar/pub if I lived in the area. I really enjoyed the fish tacos and pernil tacos! The bartender/waitress was very friendly and kind. We were in the area with friends and wanted some food. We ordered the burger, the crab cake sandwich, fish tacos and pulled pork pernil tacos. I got to try everything but the burger. The crab cake was plentiful and looked like a crab cake burger. It was crunchy and had a large crab patty! The fish tacos were perfectly fried flakey and flavorful. Topped with avocado and chipotle mayo, this was a great combination. The pulled pork taco was juicy and so savory. It came with pork gravy sauce. These were my favorite! The bartender was so short, she was also waiting and bussing the tables. She was so sweet! I would definitely come back if I were in the area! read more

Food and service are amazing! Everything was cooked perfect. Could not ask for a more polite staff in a relaxing atmosphere

Saw the reviews on Yelp so went to try it out. When we first setting eyes on the outside, we thought it might be ordinary being in a small strip mall. Happily we were wrong. Decor was cool, beer was good, and food was full of flavor. Brian, our bartender/server, was spot on with his recommendations, accommodating to our requests, and had a fun personality. I wish we lived closer so we could return! read more

My wife and I found this little place on Yelp and decided to stop and celebrate our first time hang gliding. We both got drinks and ordered some tacos; best damn tacos I may have ever had. I had the short rib tacos and my wife had the pulled pork. They were fantastic. I love it when a place cares about and pays attention to the little details like quality of ingredients. Highly recommend. read more

We stumbled upon a gem, after a long day of shopping.. wonderful service from the call to ensure that Covid hadn't changed the hours and availability, to the most magnificent drinks and finally the meals that had vegan to carnivore alike silently chewing til the plates were cleaned. Brian was terrific; up beat, personable and a true mixologist!! Good music, chill atmosphere and clean bathrooms. Vegan option not shown!! read more

Another small joy we found while traveling in area for a lacrosse event. While siutated in a small strip mall setting, the Scotchtown was a terrific find. The atmosphere was upbeat and entertaining. One of the best bar staff I have encoutnered in a while. Seating was tight especially as it got busy. Good for chatting with the local groups but maybe not so much for those looking to spread out and relax at thier busy time. But hey its a solid bar with solid food. My cuban sandwhich was huge and perfect for my tastes. Cant go wrong! read more

This is one of those 'hole-in-the-wall' places you hear locals talk about when they want some place away from chain restaurants or generically bland food. It's a little bar tucked into the end of a small strip of stores on the outside of Middletown, and unless you look for it or know it's there, you'd never guess how amazing the food is. Fans of poutine -rejoice! This place has the best poutine we've had outside of Canada. The short rib version is to die for. Even when I was stuffed and couldn't eat another bite, all I wanted to do was keep eating this amazing dish. Their burgers are no slouches, either. Food takes a little longer to arrive, but that's because it's all cooked AFTER you order. It's not like big places that pre-make most of their food and then heat it up. Burgers are still sizzling and fries are hot and perfectly crispy just like they should be. Bar staff are always making jokes and chatting with patrons, and the servers are fantastic. Plenty of local options to choose from on the beer list, and the bartender has the perfect recommendations if you aren't sure which to pick. He even lets you sample one or two before committing. No pretentious atmosphere here, just good food, a relaxed vibe, and out of this world food. I want to rave to everyone about this place, but then again, I don't want more people to discover this little gem and let the secret out. read more

Dinner with my party of three in Middletown, NY was a happy ending to a fun eventful Saturday. As we entered we sat to intake a moment of stillness while other patrons arrived later and has the audacity to order Heineken beer. Whoa, who orders Heineken beer in a craft bar and pub?! Our party of three heard their crass request for Heineken beer. That is very vulgar and such malarkey. Dudes, how about sipping on session IPA, a lager, a pale ale, a hi-octane IPA, a stout, a cider, or a cocktail? Scotchtown is not a business where patrons request Heineken beer. Don't think about ordering a Budweiser, that is rude and utter disrespectful! Aside from this vulgar request, patrons appears to behave and no rowdy out of control essence. Scotchtown carries quality craft beer on tap and good food options. Staff is friendly and attentive. Ambiance is dark, dingy but not boisterously loud. Price is reasonable. Casual atmosphere. We sat at the bar counter on wooden high chairs with backs. Quality craft beer and brew can be found in Scotchtown Craft Bar & Kitchen and listed in Untappd mobile application for the avid beer enthusiast to check-in. There is a quote behind the bar, an ancient Celtic axiom, which fits perfectly to beer: "Good people drink good beer." -- Hunter S. Thompson The quote contains Thompson's silhouette wearing sunglasses. As a poet/writer I am enamored with quotes and literary versus. To Share: sweet potato fries My friends indulged in salad and Hard Pressed Cuban sandwich and I don't remember what my other friend had, but he did enjoyed his entree. Fish and chips The fish were fresh and beer battered fried and the French fries were abundant. Tarter sauce is provided. Unfortunately, I was full from an earlier cheese, crackers and wine munching thus I was not entirely hungry. If I were not half full I would prefer a burger and a cold cocktail. read more

I'm from out of town and stumbled upon this wonderful casual spot! Smallish in size, we sat at the bar. Great beer selection but the food is where it is at! No photos cuz we were hungry but all of it was bomb! - fried cheese curds - Buffalo chicken rangoons - wings (we did teriyaki and garlic parm) - onion rings The bartender was lovely. Super down to earth, friendly, helpful and made great recommendations. It's best for my wallet that I don't live around here cuz that would easily became my new weekly spot. read more
