Extremely Disappointing Experience - Proceed With Caution [Learn from us so you don't have to!]…read more
Based on my experience, I strongly question the reliability and credibility of this company's positive reviews. I relied on those reviews to contact this company, and others on Yelp, for my pool project.
Christian, the owner of Plumb Daddy, quoted us a 2-day job, once the pool was drained, for a simple pool resurfacing (nothing structural, purely cosmetic to freshen up a 20+ year-old pool), replacement of 2-3 broken tiles, calcium build up removal, install new pool and spa lights, and replacement of leaking seals on the filter and heater plumbing. The quoted price of $4,745 seemed reasonable and was lower than other bids we received. Unfortunately, we quickly learned why.
The job began on December 4, when the pool was drained. Over six weeks later, the job is still not complete. During this time, the company initially rushed through the sanding and resurfacing and did not allow enough time for the pool to dry after being treated, so when it was refilled the work immediately chipped and began to bubble. In addition, they used a metal screw when installing the new spa light, which almost immediately began to rust, causing rust spots and stains on the interior of the spa.
Throughout the job, Christian's attendance was extremely inconsistent. He and his worker would show up sporadically, then disappear for days or weeks with minimal to no communication. He repeatedly said he was coming and failed to show up. Communication steadily declined, especially after final payment was made. Excuses ranged from flat tires to being out of town over the holidays--despite explicit assurances that the pool would be completed and usable during Christmas. It was not.
When they returned weeks later (after Christmas and New Year's), the pool and spa were drained again to correct issues that should have been done properly the first time. The problem areas were eventually treated, and the spa light and mounting were replaced.
We paid a 50% deposit on December 4 and, regrettably, the remaining balance in full on December 18 at Christian's request, even though the job was not fully complete (our fault, we should not have paid him). I did not see him in person again until January 16, although his worker did come a few times to address the above-mentioned problems.
On January 16, Christian finally returned to "finish" the job. At that point, the remaining scope was very clear and had been confirmed in advance: remove rust stains caused by the faulty spa light installation, replace a Jandy valve, and add startup chemicals to balance the untreated pool water.
Upon arrival, he stated that he thought there was water in the spa, although we informed him that neither his worker nor we had filled it due to the rust spots and stains. He then claimed he could not clean the rust without water. When I suggested we simply fill up the spa, he informed me that he didn't have the chemicals to put in despite previously confirming the work. I expressed my frustration that the job was still unfinished nearly a month after full payment and more than six weeks after it began.
As had become customary, he blamed delays and mistakes on his employee. As the owner of the company, that responsibility ultimately rests with him. I found the repeated scapegoating of his employee unacceptable and more of an indictment of him as a business owner than of the employee he failed to properly manage, train, and/or supervise.
Christian then filled the spa, replaced the valve, and left without notifying us. No startup chemicals were added and the rust stains were not treated. There was no communication whatsoever about whether or when he planned to return to complete the remaining work. He did not respond to our text messages (multiple messages that night and the next day) asking whether/when he was coming back to complete the job. The buildup to this point was bad enough, but this final visit was the breaking point.
As of the posting of this review on 1/18/2026, the rust spots and stains caused by their faulty installation still have not been treated, nor have the startup chemicals been added or water balanced. There has not been a single call, text message or any other form of communication from him or his company to notify us when they would be retuning to finish the job they have been paid for.
I would not recommend this company to anyone. Based on my experience, this is not a trustworthy or reliable business, and I strongly encourage others to proceed with extreme caution. I have already reported them to the Better Business Bureau.
If you do use this company, DO NOT make final payment until the job is completely finished to your satisfaction. Maybe that will keep him more responsive and communicative. We have learned from our mistake and will never repeat it, learn from us so you don't have to!
