I seldom find myself in Tacodeli, but when I do, I find their tacos absolutely delicious. Staff is great and efficient, and the quality of the ingredients is excellent. For my latest visit, I ordered the Shrimposito and a Pork Belly taco. The shrimp were marinaded well and cooked just right. The pork belly was nicely charred and had a good ratio of meat and fat. The sauces were addicting as well. And as always, gotta get that blue plate special cause you gotta get those rice and beans! I love the variety of their taco options, I should really stop by more often. read more

Order online, pick up in restaurant is my favorite option. We love getting dinner tacos since now they're open until 8pm. My favorite breakfast taco is the Otto on flour tortillas. I love getting the cold brew coffee mixed with the horchata. Depending on location, they call it a dirty horchata. It's not on the online menu, so I've ordered a cold brew and made the request at pick up. I expect it's popular enough to put on the menu though. We always come back. IF you wish to eat in this place, prepare for cold tacos and a long wait. They get a lot of togo orders , from all the door dash and uber eats of the world. and people who happen to take our time to go here have to get in line with them all. crazy thing is they make less money catering to these app ordering systems, yet the people who come here suffer. I have only had their migas breakfast tacos, but wow they are to die for. I don't usually do taco spots because they usually serve a lot of meat and I don't eat meat, but I was on a work function and we ordered from Tacodeli. I was pleasantly surprised. Side note: their salsas were fantastic. My only wish is that they served breakfast all day so I could come in on my lunch break or at dinner to order the migas breakfast tacos since I am not an early riser. Fave tacos in Austin! Breakfast and dinner tacos are amazing. Lots of different salsa options with different levels of heat. Very reasonably priced, and so much flavor! Be prepared to wait 20-30 minutes during peak hours and weekends as it's all made to order and it can get busy. Definitely worth the wait. This was my first time here. The tacos were really good and there are several others on the menu that I would like to try in the future. However, there were a few issues I had. I got the mojo fish and the barbacoa tacos. The mojo fish was Excellent... worthy of 5 stars. The barbacoa was good but not great..the barbacoa had a slightly different taste than I've experienced with other barbacoa tacos but the avacado portion was generous. Problems: They apparently no longer serve the shrimposito taco though it it still on the menu, I ordered corn tortillas but received flour, the girl at the register had little attitude, the seating inside is limited. read more

I've only had the breakfast tacos here. We tried The Vaquero (scrambled eggs, corn, roasted peppers, and jack cheese) and the Sirloin, Egg, and Cheese. They were good, but nothing extraordinary. They are small too. You'd definitely need to order at least three tacos to fill you up. I do like the different salsas and the spiciness level of each. We came here on a Sunday morning and it was packed. There are plenty of outdoor seating if inside fills up. They will bring out your order when it's ready. Good service. read more

Tacodeli serves tacos made from locally sourced and organic meats that are not treated with antibiotics. Their seafood is responsibly sourced, and they offer a large variety of vegetarian and vegan options. They are open for breakfast and close after lunch. My sister took me for lunch, and the restaurant was PACKED up until close. The staff is very friendly, and they work tirelessly to get food out to the customers. You order at the counter, and servers bring you your food. The restaurant has a lot of seating, but it's very cramped inside. They also have bench tables outside for additional seating. We ordered a large bowl of queso that easily fed 6 adults and 2 kids. It comes with unlimited chips, which are bagged separately. The chips run out faster than you go through the queso, but they gladly give you more chips if you go up to the counter. My boyfriend and I split four tacos: - Shrimp Taco: Grilled Texas Gulf shrimp, jack cheese glaze, sautéed poblano-onion rajas. The shrimp are juicy and big. This was my favorite taco. - Mojo Fish Taco: Grilled line caught Texas Gulf Drum, mojo garlic sauce, guacamole, pico de gallo. My boyfriend enjoyed this taco, I didn't get to taste it =( - Tacoloco: Adobo braised brisket, caramelized onions, mushrooms, guacamole, cilantro, queso fresco. Another one of my favorite tacos. They do not skimp on ingredients, and the brisket was tender and juicy. - Mexico City Sirloin: Grilled sirloin, diced onion, cilantro. Simple taco that fills you up. They only offer breakfast tacos until 11 am on weekdays, but they serve them all day on weekends. My sister recommends The Otto and The Migas. They have a salsa bar near the soda and cutlery station. The first two salsa (the verde and red) and not spicy, but the end two are very spicy. My boyfriend likes spicy foods, but he did not like the orange sauce. Overall, I loved the food from Tacodeli! Phew. I've tasted tacodeli food for the first AND second time during catered events. After a week or so, I finally made my way down there for lunch. The place is located in a little shopping center and line at lunch time is long (but oh so worth it). I got the blue plate special with the Mexican sirloin and al-pastor, mexirice, chips (guac, and some red sauce) and of course, that jalapeño green salsa was right by my side. Lemme tell ya, everything was delicious. I expected the sirloin to be chewy and subpar but in reality, it was tender and juicy. The alpastor was interesting as I've never had it in that way. The jalapeño sauce really does tie in all of the flavors together. I really like the guacamole they have. Ours had a zesty lime kick to it that really drove me to keep on eating chips! They close at 3pm, folks. You can imagine a noon lunch to be packed and limited seating (but we got lucky). Even tho it was busy, the food kept rolling out. Henry Ford would be proud of whatever assembly line they've got going on back there. All in all, visit this place, cater from this place. Tired of people asking for tips without providing service. Now at Tacodeli you get asked in front of everyone else while you are in line "do you want to leave any tip for the staff?" The answer is NO. Tip is not a present but a compensation for a service that at Tacodeli is NOT provided. Also now no prices are displayed close to the menu on the board. Don't order multiple tacos in a bowl of the same taco unless you want to be ripped off. I ordered 4 tacos. A Mexico sirloin x2 and a chicken taco with avacado, cheese, bacon cilantro and onion x2 expecting to get full, and they brought out two bowls with a slightly glorified taco in each bowl. Loved this spot for a quick breakfast. This was my first time visiting a TacoDeli so I asked the cashier what I should get. He recommended the breakfast platter and the pork belly tacos. Well his recommendations were spot on. Excellent, excellent, excellent!!! It was a good amount of food for 2 people! And they now have a customer for life. This morning, it was bringing home my favorite Sunday take out breakfast of the Migas Royale Plate with a little cup of the often imitated, never duplicated spicy, creamy, green Salsa Doña from Taco Deli. Tacos are an Austin staple, appropriate for a snack or meal any time of day or night. They can be dressed up or down, and they can be obtained in one form or another at probably 85% of the food serving establishments in this town. So it's something to say that Taco Deli is up there in my top 3 favorite tacos (scallop tacos on corn - a dieter's dream) and ties for numero uno on best salsa of all time. Yeah, you have your young upstarts like the little fried devil with the pitchfork (and unbeatable queso), and you have your classic eastside Tex-Mex like Joe's and Juan's, but anyone giving a fair assessment must admit that Taco Deli (est. 1999) does what it does consistently well, with enough variety in the menu to please every picky palate. The place was founded by a guy from Mexico City and he and his team have done a fine job melding the Mex with the Tex, while keeping a hippie/foodie sensibility that makes one think, "Yep, this is Keepin' Austin Weird!" What's good? Oh, you mean something more specific than "everything"? Well, the sirloin steak tips with eggs are tender & tasty. The grilled veggie items are always delish. The refried black beans are surely spiked with some kind of illegal addictive substance. The poblano mashed potatoes have grown to become one of my favorite sides, although I'll admit it took me a LONG time to accept this as a reasonable taco filling. All of the veggies are fresh-fresh-fresh, and all of the meats are of the highest quality. If you're in for breakfast, the brewed Texas Coffee Traders coffee is very good. I really love Taco Deli but despite all the rave and even the fact that I love the place myself, I think it is a bit overrated and needs to pick up their pace when it comes to getting orders out a bit faster. The staff is always really cool and so friendly but I would have to take a star away from a perfect rating of 5 stars just because of the slow-paced service when it comes to the actually cooking part of it all. The best way to go is to call in your order and pick it up at their call-in counter or otherwise you will be in for the wait of your life for a few tacos. Visited at 1045am on a Sunday and there were about 20 people in front of us but it got longer. After waiting 10-15 minutes to order, we got our breakfast tacos within 8-10 minutes. I got the Jess Special and the steak/egg/cheese. Both were very fresh and overflowing with the goods. Avocado on the Jess was perfectly ripe, and the steak was tasty and not too chewy as breakfast beef can be sometimes Two tacos is plenty for any meal given the size. This review is for the lunch tacos. I have tried several tacos here, and I keep going back to the Cowboy taco. Juicy beef tenderloin with grilled corn and guac, squeeze of lime and the roja salsa. Every bite is simply delicious and satisfying. Just yum. $4 for one small taco is steep, but in this case, worth every penny! Others worth trying are the pork belly (Saturday special, not available everyday), shrimp has a great sauce, and the thurs special-matambre (grilled pork). To be fair, I've tried Torchy's. They are bigger tacos but boy are they greasy. I didn't want to swallow it. 5 stars alone for the cowboy taco. I could eat it everyday. read more

I love this location! We go here at least once a month. They even gave me a coupon on my birthday last year! The staff is so kind and personable and they get everything done so quickly. The food is absolutely delicious too. I love the deli belly and the cowboy the most for the lunch tacos and the migas royale plate is amazing and very filling. The migas royale plate was the first real food I could eat after getting my wisdom teeth out and it was so delicious I cried. So it has a special spot in my heart always. Tacodeli without a doubt fueled my breakfast taco appreciation! It's a wonderful place to go for breakfast or lunch. The tacos on the menu are categorized by protein type. It's a well rounded menu filled with plenty of tasty options. Sometimes, there is a special taco for the day. Salsa? They have an entire bar of at least 4-5 different salsas. There are also refreshing drinks. So many delicious options, it's hard to imagine leaving disappointed. It can get pretty busy, but they tend to be quite efficient. On a normal basis during peak times, you probably will wait in line for some time, but will get your food in a timely manner.
