I really enjoy the food here, but my recent experience has been beyond frustrating. I was charged three times for a single pickup order, and despite multiple attempts to contact the business, I have received no response. That's not just an inconvenience--that's unacceptable. Good food doesn't excuse poor customer service, especially when it involves billing errors. I'm hoping this gets addressed quickly, but in the meantime, I'd recommend others double-check their receipts. read more

Vasquez Restaurant in Austin is such a low key gem! We swung by for lunch on a Sunday, and right when we walked in, the amazing smell of fresh homemade Mexican food hit us, so inviting. The music was blasting good vibes, and there's a cute little bar tucked in the corner that adds to the chill atmosphere. I got the carne guisada plate, and it was incredibly tender and flavorful needed a bit more gravy on top but honestly some of the best I've had. My boyfriend had the beef fajitas enchiladas and they were also delicious. The food overall healed something in me today. I couldn't recommend this spot enough. I'm definitely coming back and bringing more people with me next time! Place has been here forever yet this is our first visit. Super friendly and the place looks great for its age. The food is solid, and more of a throw back to where it all started...basic yet delicious...Started with out standard of Chips, Salsa and Queso...Salsa has some creeper heat vibes going on and a few pours in the Queso is just what it needed. Wife went the route of the beef Chiladas with red sauce and double rice...sauce was good along with the beef. Rice was fresh and tasty. I went Saritas Enchilada which is Cheese enchiladas topped with Carne and cheese....nice twist for sure. Can confirm that their breakfast tacos are great. Ordered 2 bacon, potato & cheese and 2 steak egg & cheese and they were LOADED with ingredients, and clearly freshly cooked & chopped bacon which is always appreciated. Be sure if ordering to go though to ask for salsa because it seems it doesn't come already in the bag because their red salsa is amazing; on the more runny side but has great flavor and juuust the right level of heat. read more

I really love a hole in the wall and wanted to love this place. Very casual with rolls of paper towel on the table. The chips seemed store bought and the salsa was SOOO hot! Our waiter said "she makes it when she's angry". We ordered the steak, the al pastor plate and a burrito. Oh...and guac, which was a teeny tiny portion for like $6. Also very spicy. I'm Latin and love spicy food. This was almost comically hot. The steak we ordered rare was super overcooked and chewy. The Al Pastor seemed like they had just taken the days bits and scraped them off the parilla. My husband loved his burrito. Overall, this place is expensive and the food was mid at best. $14 for two tacos. Two beef fajita with guac cost $14.02???!!! $7 per taco. I paid for them because I already ordered them, but I won't be back again. The tacos weren't very large to justify that price. Either the pricing for this place is off or the lady at the register isn't charging correctly. The menu online has no prices so it's hard to tell. The menu photos on google show the fajita tacos are 3.99 and guac is an extra .50 per taco. I understand things are up in price, but $7 per taco is ridiculous. Plus the guacamole added was very light. Food always taste good but I always have a bad experience when it comes to transparency of the prices. When I walked out, there were other customers asking amongst themselves whether the $120 they paid was correct. It's clear that it's a bigger issue than just what I've experienced. read more

I've lived in Pioneer Crossing West for a few years and have probably driven by Vasquez several hundred times. I had no idea this little Mexican restaurant was so legit! I saw on other posts that their food was authentic so I had to try for myself and, disappointed I was not. Right when I walked in I was greeted with warm, super-courteous, bright-sunshiney smiles. Basically, their staff was super friendly and welcoming. Amazing group of ladies in the front of the house. Unfortunately, I only had takeout so I didn't get to have the full experience of dining in, but I'm still impressed regardless. I ordered the Deluxe Vasquez breakfast plate with Barbacoa, over medium eggs, with a couple of breakfast tacos for us. Their plates all come with potatoes and retried beans, by the way. I'm actually not a fan of retried beans but really enjoyed theirs. My order was prepared in five minutes so that was a pleasant surprise. To top it off, their coffee was the bomb. My friends and I came here for some breakfast tacos after a morning round of disc golf. This was after restaurants began reopening during COVID-19 so it seemed like half of the tables were removed in the dining room for social distancing purposes. Their chips and salsa are very good! I always say I'm Thai so I love spicy food and I loved that the salsa was spicy enough for me. I think a restaurant's salsa is very telling about how good their food will be. I ordered one Egg/Bacon and one Egg/Sausage Breakfast Taco. The egg and bacon was my favorite because their bacon was nice and crispy! I hate getting a soft piece of bacon in a breakfast taco so I really enjoyed this one. The egg and sausage was also good, I just preferred the one with bacon. First time here and I came early to beat the crowds that generally form after 9:00 am. It's a smaller older restaurant but has charm none the less and very clean. The staff was very friendly, answering my many questions and the do take out orders which I love. I wanted some breakfast tacos and from the reviews, anxiously awaited to try this place out. In all honestly, I would have rather given a 3.5 star rating. I ordered breakfast tacos; Bacon and Egg add Nopalitos. So when I paid I was a bit surprised that the cost of each taco was over $3 when for Bacon and Egg tacos it was $1.99 and each additional item is $0.35. I was doing the math in my head and had to ask why they were so much more, $16 for four tacos! The answer I was given is that I was charged for the Napolito and Egg taco which cost about $1 more and add the Bacon for the $0.35 extra. Hmm, still confused on that one, I was not aware that cactus was so costly - did not expect it to be more than bacon and anywhere else I go for breakfast tacos this is not the case. I feel like they charged me for the most they possibly could. I go home and tear into these tacos and yes, they are good - a bit too much nopalitos for my taste - hence why I asked for Bacon and Egg add the nopalitos! Lesson learned for sure. I would like to try other menu items though - I will just be very weary of what I order. read more

The chips were okay but definitely nothing special. My wife and I tried the chicken fajita, beef fajita, and barbacoa tacos. The fajita tacos were fairly large with good size portions of meat in each. The beef fajita was a bit on the chewy side and the chicken could have used a bit more flavor... it was a little bland for my taste. Best breakfast tacos around. It is so hard to find authentic tasting tacos here in Austin, but this is as close as it gets in my opinion. The staff is always very friendly. It's a hole in the wall and by the looks of it, you'd never guess it was so delicious. My boyfriend and I do breakfast here (or sometimes pick up to go) almost every other weekend. The salsa is to die for, extremely hot! We get salsa to go and use throughout the week when we make tacos & it literally changes the game. They stuff their breakfast tacos too, they are not stingy at all! Their beans are probably the best I've had here in Austin. I typically order potato egg & bean tacos but my boyfriend loves their bean bacon & potato tacos. You really can't go wrong with any of their breakfast options. The carne guisada plate was tender and succulent....the chicken enchiladas con queso was awesome and I always order a ground beef enchilada as a side item...how can you determine how good a tex mex place is without trying one of the basic food groups!? Driving up to this place, you could easily mistaken the building for a car repair shop. But don't be fooled, this place is worth a visit, especially if you're a fan of barbacoa. That beef cheek is melt in your mouth good. Also, as others have noted, their refried beans were amazingly delicious. Ok. Its finally time to let you in on my favorite, hole in the wall, Tex-Mex restaurant. Vasquez has been the go to lunch spot for my team from Samsung for years now and it never dissappoints. Chips and salsa are fantastic. My kids call the salsa volcano sauce because it can be quite spicy, but tons of flavor. Just get one of their massive glasses of water and try not to ruin your appetite. The portions are huge and generally under $10 so it's great value. I love the carne cuisada plate and I get 2 huge tacos out of it and have a leftover carne cuisada salad afterwards. Problem is, it's so good I end up cleaning my plate and leave absolutely stuffed. Everything I have ever tried here has been wonderful so just take your pick. Well made food with good service. Parking is a bitch as it is small and cramped and gets very busy, but make the effort. It's worth it. If your a little farther north, there is another location in Round Rock off of Sam Bass road. Same great food, slightly better parking but even smaller inside. read more
