Wow. First time here. Never going back. Overpriced af. Not friendly. Closes at 3 everyday. Wtf? I took my son to Taco Deli for lunch and we will never go back. The guy taking orders was not helpful at all. Nor was he polite. He was all smiles and helpful to the 20 something girl in line in front of us, but his mood changed as soon as we got to the front of the line. I said it was our first time and he just looked at me like I had a dick growing out of my forehead. No help. Didn't explain how the menu worked. I asked for a "happy taco" with no mushrooms, and he just said, -We can't take the mushrooms off-. We spent $17 on 4 tacos that are so freaking small I couldn't believe it. I went to Tacodeli and got the most AMAZING tacos ever, even took a photo to show a friend their glory. I went back again today to get them again, and couldn't remember the name or their exact description. I made a silly suggestion at showing the cashier my photo, which turned into multiple staff members taking turns attempting to identify these delicious mysteries. After narrowing down the options, they even bought me both tacos, which were the Mojo Fish (the actual mystery taco in question) and the pollo fantastico. Both were amazing, and they were as kind and funny as the tacos were delicious. Thank you so much, I'll be back for these!!!! read more

Always perplexed why people seem to like Taco Deli so much. I find the portions to be small and the prices to be high, and I've never really found a taco here that just blows me away. There are a lot of things to love about this place-- including their use of sustainable ingredients, wide variety of menu options, and super friendly staff, but my tastebuds and my wallet like Torchy's better. read more

Enjoy a high risk for food poisoning. Got to go breakfast tacos on Sunday AM (the only common meal my wife and I shared) and about 7 hours later for her and 10 for me we were both doubled over in pain and unable to keep any food or liquid down for 24 hours. Nothing wrong with this location, more general dissatisfaction with the chain. I've tried it multiple times and I want to love it, but just don't. The menu is overwhelming, many options only slightly varied from others. Chips and queso are bland. Chips come in a plastic bag, I assume for freshness (or maybe to limit portion), but then they taste kind of like cardboard. Tacos always seem a little bland too. Everybody raves about Dona sauce, but you can get a similar sauce at several places around town with better tacos. Breakfast tacos also underwhelm, especially the potato and egg (think mashed potato and egg). The ingredients always seem fresh, and it's never really bad, just not exceptionally good. An Austin staple, but I'm not sure why. read more

Brand new Taco deli on Burnet! This area is developing like crazy. It's nice to have a few more options for lunch along the Burnet/Anderson Lane route. There were soo many tacos to choose from and I was a bit overwhelmed, especially with the giant menu looming at me from an awkward angle. Not a big fan of the corn tortillas, they weren't very soft and not very warm. But the veggies were cooked perfectly and the shrimp was covered in a yummy sauce. Also had the chips and salsa, I love the super thing crips chips. I ordered the super spicy green salsa and mixed it with the rojo. Pretty good. The green salsa is insanely hot though, so be warned! Prices were decent, but could be lower. Can't wait to come back with some friends and try some new tacos! Hopefully it's not too busy! read more

Love love love their breakfast menu. They dont serve their regular menu until breakfast is done at 11 FYI. Finally tried their meat tacos and while they're delicious almost all of them are just too spicy for me. Tacoloco brisket was hot as hell which doesn't say anywhere on their description so I ended up throwing it away. Their sauces are spicy too. I know I'm a wimp but dang I could barely finish my food. I would go to their Lamar or Spyglass location. This location is just too busy and their service could not keep up. We walked in and waited a long time. Everyone placed their order over phone and they does not know how to handle large takeout order. The manager came out and gave out random coupons to whoever look grumpy. Preface: I don't wait in line for tacos. On a very recent early morning, I found myself with an open mind and willing to try TD once again. Due to the convenience of the location and ample parking at 7:30am, I thought why not? There were no crazy lines as I have seen on the weekends, and the guy at the cash register was very nice and helpful. I got a couple breakfast tacos and orange juice = $10. Oops, so much for a cheap breakfast. The doña salsa is good and SPICY. The salsas are a definite plus and you can purchase their salsa in larger sizes. The interior is small, modern and minimalist. I'd imagine it can feel pretty cramped if you are trying to dine in during a busy time. My tacos were out super quick and they were hand delivered by a very nice chick who reported back to me what I ordered. Everyone was super nice, for it being so early in the morning! I appreciate quality and speedy service. However, I don't get the hype over the tacos here. I have tried 5 different tacos. And FYI - There are no migas here, I don't know why I fall for that each time and find that it does not resemble anything close to migas. Eggs+cheese does not = migas. The tacos are quite small, the flour tortilla is not cooked enough and tastes doughy. Bottom line, not terrible, but not memorable. Super MEH. read more

How on earth does this place have such good ratings? This was one of the most disappointing taco experiences I have ever had. I got the migas, which should have tomato, jalapeños and tortilla strips. I only got eggs and cheese, the other 2 tacos which were $4.50 a piece didn't come with the cheese they were suppose to come with and they barely had any filling. This place sucks. Tacodeli is definitely our favorite breakfast taco place in town. We have friends staying with us so of course we wanted to treat them with the best! My husband placed an order so I went to pick it up. It accidentally turned into a whole thing because his name rhymed with another dude's name that accidentally snagged our order. Obviously no one's fault but Tacodeli handled it very well and made sure my ordered was immediately replaced. Eric and all of the other employees at the take out register were so kind and helpful! It could've been a terrible experience but they took care of it. We will continue to bring our out of town guests here! read more

So I'm a regular at the central location. Layouts are familiar but with more seating. Transferred some seasoned managers so the flow is smooth. Great news! It's as good as the other locations. And by good I mean great. Best news is it gets me out if cooking breakfast on Sundays. read more

Had tacodeli for lunch today for the first time! I had the mushroom/cheese and veggies as I am a vegi. It was great with rice and their qeso, i opted for no tortilla. their chips were nice a crispy not too salty. their salsa variety was great! their guac was an interesting combination of ingredients compared to traditional quac but i liked it! read more

Great service and ambiance. In a quick pinch, I'd go again but the food overall was average to me.

Quickly becoming my favorite lunch place near work. Obsessed with the papadulce taco (sweet potatoes with crunchy pumpkin seeds) and the Pollo en Mole. Fast and friendly service, the managers are always bustling around outside and inside seating and making sure guests happy, taking up baskets and cups, and being helpful. Got a sample of the cucumber mint horchata the other day and will definitely be putting horchata on my order next time! read more

As I look around me, after spending a decade waiting for my damned tacos, I cannot believe the technological advancement. It seems the internet is everywhere! Everybody has little TV screens on their phones now, too! Wow, the cars look so futuristic! Seriously, every derned time I have gone to this place I have had to wait 20-35 minutes for my food!!!! Personally, I think Torchy's tacos are much more delicious. They're certainly faster with their taco cooking. I literally waited *35 minutes* for an order of 4 tacos today...5 minutes in line then 30 minutes while their slammed kitchen prepared them. Everybody else waiting was all crowded around an exit and people at tables mostly waiting, but a few eating, so it was a big cluster F the whole time. Luckily it's Austin so the patrons and staff were nice. Golly there are a lot of nice folks in Austin. The employees could tell everybody was pissed about the wait so they offered free drinks and even gave me a couple coupons for breakfast tacos. Sorry Tacodeli, I'd use those coupons but I don't want to lose another decade of my life waiting on you all. I would be afraid that by the time the free tacos got in my belly I robots would be in charge. I vowed today to never go back to this Taco Deli, unless they somehow expand the location and their ability to cook tacos faster. I would give 1 star, except I'm obviously annoyed with my experience today (so somewhat biased) and also the tacos are OK. Not awesome, OK. Again, not as amazing as everybody thinks. I love a good mole. Who would think that a taco joint would have one? Honestly, I haven't been to a Tacodeli in years, mostly because they close at 3pm and my life often doesn't fit into neat timelines. But, the other day, while out running errands I was in the mood for a taco and found myself in Tacodeli range at the right time. I perused the menu online, but no prices were shown. Dang, they make it hard to eat there. Upon arrival I finally saw the prices on one of the posted menus inside (but not on the main one above the register for some reason) and was pleased to see that they were very reasonable. I ordered the shredded chicken mole on flour tortilla with onion and cilantro. Delicious! No salsa necessary. I also ordered an Al Pastor on corn, marinated pork (usually with pineapple but I did not detect any pineapple taste and none was included in the toppings) with onion and cilantro. The meat was pretty tender if not completely flavorful. I added lime (found at the tea station--not included with the taco as in most restaurants) and their green, creamy Dona sauce which is heavenly though pretty spicy. These two items saved the day for the pastor, but I'd rather have the pineapple and a deeper marinade. Take advantage of their online ordering during peak lunch hours unless you enjoy waiting in a long line. read more

Today, I ordered Taco Deli for my sales team as I do at the end of each month, and it occurred to me that the service at this location is an absolute delight, and they have never gotten my order wrong, and I haven't written them a review. Today's service was over the top good. The food was ready early, the order was correct, as always, and Kayla went out of her way to make my short wait comfortable by offering me a sample of their good flow honey limeade. As usual they took the time to show me how the order was divided up on the recipt to make locating everyone's food easy, and offered to help me out to my car. I think Taco Deli does a fantastic job of hiring the right kind of people as everyone is always smiling and appear to be having fun while they work. Love you guys! read more

Favorite taco place in town! Recently discovered they have daily specials - mmm! Never had a bad experience even if the lines are long the stuff works so hard and does their best to make everyone happy. Got free coffee there many times because it was kind of late for breakfast. They come up with new stuff regularly so you probably will never try ALL of their things. Really cool crowd too and outside seating. You can also call them and order your stuff and than come and pick it up if you know it's a busy time like weekend morning or lunch time during the week. It's just there is no graceful way to eat a taco, otherwise would have been great for dates. read more

I don't see what the big fluff is on the place - at least on breakfast tacos alone. I've tried a variety of their breakfast tacos, on several occasions, and each time I've come away thinking they were average to boring. That said, the place is clean and employees are warm even on hectic weekends. They close at 3pm. read more

It has always been a rule of mine to make sure I do not have breakfast tacos once a week. I think that it's a slippery slope to "a taco a day" to satisfy my addiction to cheese and eggs. I broke that rule thanks to Tacodeli. I went two Sundays in a row and had to force myself not to go for a third. They have the most delicious breakfast tacos in Austin, in my opinion. There is such a wide array of salsas to choose from, as well. They are all so fresh and varied in flavor, so you aren't just choosing a salsa based on heat, but choosing one based on flavor. I highly recommend trying the chips and queso, too. The chips are light and crispy. They pair well with the creaminess of the queso and the varied flavors of the salsas. I would love to leave it at all the nice things I said below but, unfortunately, one of their employees left a very bad taste in my mouth and I hadn't even eaten there today. I was attempting to pull in to the alley behind Taco Deli that I take to get to my parking lot at work and her giant red SUV was parked right in the middle of the one lane alley ( for her convenience of course. Never mind other people that could potentially need that alley clear to get to their place of business.) Since it's not advised to back up in to on coming, rush hour traffic, I was forced to wait for the sassy employee to come out and give me attitude for being inconvenienced by her. Not only did she sit in her car for a minute, she then drive as slow as possible for the 50 yards or so of alley. I then walked in to speak to a manager, who while clearly mortified, had no interest in making sure a very upset regular patron of Taco Deli's left feeling a little better about the business she was entrusted to manage. Not a shining day for this location at all. I officially work with in walking distance of my favorite taco joint. Breakfast? Yes! Lunch? Yes! Dinner? Nope. The only bummer is the early closing time and the fact that it is always packed. What else can I expect from a place that serves up deliciousness on the regular. This new job of mine came with the standard benefits and one seriously lucky location bonus. I'm a very happy girl these days. read more
