Not perfect, but really good! Traditional chicken, 2 half's was well-seasoned but breasts a bit on the dry side. Rice was light and charro beans were tasty. Guacamole good too. Red onions had some zing and were a nice add. The boiled onions are mild and do enjoyed putting a few slices on a corn tortilla with the chicken. Enough for 3 people and lunch the next day. Fair price. I like this place! read more

I have been a life long customer of pollo regio and my family always liked them for their good food but it has gotten way too overpriced and for smaller quantities. I asked for two WHOLE chickens. I received one whole chicken for $70. Two whole chickens means two wings, two drumsticks, two chicken breasts, and two chicken thighs in EACH order. I received two boxes with 4 pieces... one breast, one drumstick, one thigh, and one wing... It's unfortunate because i expected two whole chickens a this is a rip off... I paid $70 for ONE chicken... Apart from the food, the woman tending to me was great and very nice. read more

Friendly staff and fast service, not to mention the food is great. Definitely recommend it if you live or drive by the area.

It's not often I give a rating like this, especially when first time trying a place. I am amazed at the service considering all the high ratings I saw for this place. I assume it was people who did not order delivery. I would have given it 1 star if it were not for the quick response I received from their corporate office, and since the Favor delivery person is also to blame. I ordered a bunch of food for delivery on a quiet Thursday afternoon. My wife wanted to try this place, since our go to chicken delivery place had closed after 5 years of great food and service. I am listing in detail what we ordered for delivery, as I don't know how someone, either the order preparer or delivery person, or both, could not review the order and see how many things were MISSING! And yet, I was charged for the full order. We ordered the following and below is what we got: 1 x Whole Grilled Chicken (1 x $24.99) = $24.99 1 x Charro Beans Large received 1 x Corn Tortillas 10 pcs NOT received 1 x Flour Tortillas 10 pcs received 1 x Onion w/ Habanero Small received 1 x Cabbage w/ Jalapeños Small received 1 x Salsa Habanero Small NOT received 1 x Pico de Gallo Small NOT recieved We received the chicken, beans, and flour tortillas. No salsa, pico, or Corn tortillas. Plus they gave us rice. We did not order rice! When they say small for the Onion w/Habanero and Cabbage w/Jalapenos, they mean small. Not even a side. Chicken was ok. The grilled skin and flavor was good, but the meat dry, and the size, it looked like chicken on a diet of bread and water. 1 x Chicken Soup 1 x Chicken (1 x $10.49) = $10.49 1 x Corn Tortillas 5 pcs received 1 x Charro Beans Medium received 1 x Cabbage w/ Jalapeños Small NOT received My wife ordered the soup. She is a connoisseur of this type of soup, and the only thing she said made it bearable was the two large pieces of chicken in there. They could have at lease de-boned the chicken. WE ALSO ORDERED THE FOLLOWING ITEMS BELOW OF WHICH NOT A SINGLE ONE ARRIVED. HOW DO YOU MISS THIS? 1 x Stuffed Potato 1 x Mixed Meat (1 x $10.99) = $10.99 1 x 1/2 Carne Asada 1 x 1/2 Pastor 1 x Salsa Verde Small 1 x Add 1/4 Avocado (1 x $0.99) = $0.99 1 x Extra Toreado Jalapeno (1 x $0.39) = $0.39 1 x Regio Platter 1 x Carne Asada (1 x $14.99) = $14.99 1 x French Fries 1 x Flour Tortillas 5 pcs 1 x Salad 1 x Salsa Habanero Small 1 x Cheese Sauce Small 1 x Salad (1 x $2.69) = $2.69 1 x No Salsa 1 x Grilled Onions 1 x Large (1 x $2.35) = $2.35 1 x Jalapeño Pepper 1 x Pickled Jalapeno (1 x $0.39) = $0.39 1 x Jalapeño Pepper 1 x Toreado Pepper (1 x $0.39) = $0.39 1 x Guacamole 1 x Medium (1 x $4.38) = $4.38 SUBTOTAL $73.04 DELIVERY CHARGE $3.99 SERVICE CHARGE $3.00 TAX $6.02 TIP $5.00 TOTAL $91.05 I called the restaurant multiple times, each time receiving an answering machine stating they were busy, and then put on hold. After 10 seconds of music it automatically hung up. How classy. I called and texted the Favor driver and no response. I could not even call Favor as the order was through the restaurant, but they used Favor. I finally submitted a complainT online and someone called me and apologized continually. They wanted to reimburse me for just the items missing, but as you can see there was more than just that. I would expect a place like this to comp the entire order, but had to convince them to give me $40 credit, and even then I had to get the credit in their app. So, I guess I have to go back to this place. I will order next time dine in at the counter, and see if they can recover from this. read more

This review is for their chicken tacos specifically. I'd ordered from here a few times and then a year ago I had an order where I was biting into cartilage/gristle in nearly every bite of five tacos. Really turned me off. Decided to give them another chance the other day, and a year later I experienced the same. exact. problem. It's gross and ruins the entire experience to constantly have to spit cartilage out of my mouth. To have this same problem one whole year later tells me it's not a coincidence. Either the meat is low quality and/or it's not being prepared in a quality manner. read more

Per my routine visits for your amazing food and service, there often is an employee with the ID name tag Maria. She has constantly represented your company upon ordering with the greatest customer service of any of your competitors as well with the most professional smile and courtesy smile. Whenever we're craving some good simple tacos, we order from here. Their tortillas are clearly hand made and are delicious. Tonight we ordered the carne asada platter with their delicious rice and beans. For the first time, I noticed how much care they take to ensure that the food doesn't spill because all of the sauces and sides were wrapped in cling film. read more

I got the potato with beef. It was terrible. Nest wasn't fresh tasting, the potatoes were all chipped up the meat was diced finely, they were both swimming in fake butter and two types of fake cheese. I was sure it was not my order. The green salsa was disgusting and not at all what I was looking forward to. I should have gotten this dish at pollo loco down the street I would have enjoyed my meal and it would have been faster with better service. read more

Staff was so nice and helpful. Great news one of the nice ladies told me the Pflugerville location will open in two months! I almost forgot- the churros are ! El mejor pollo de Austin. Great service and best tasting chicken Ive ever had!. Definitely recommend it and worth the drive!

You have terrible service, I asked them not to put so much cheese on a potato and they put a lot and didn't put chicken meat. Crap food. And they asked me to like their page. They know how to charge but not make the food well. read more

First time trying this chain and the food is great! I got pastor tacos and chips and salsa verde. So good and flavorful.

Service is terrible, I made an online order and had to wait more than 30 minutes in the sun. They do not have any where covered to wait. The food is pretty good actually, I will not recommend this place to no one unless you want wait more then 40 minutes for a simple 1 entree order. read more

Pollo Regio - More than 10 people in 105 degrees - Mexican Near Me - Austin, Texas

I admit I was never a roasted chicken fan. My idea for buying a rotisserie chicken is so that I can make soup. So the best roasted chicken I ever had was at Wolfgang Pucks. WAS being the key. Until now! Hands down, one of the best chicken dishes ever. Maybe the very best. MONSTER portion. I think you could feed a family 3-4 quite easily. Granted, the half onion was a first, but I just through chunks of the onion in with the chicken on a solid tortilla shell. I didn't count, but there might have been 8 shells? The menudo. Salty fatty deliciousness. If they had these on the east coast, I'd be a regular for sure. Here's the only warning for the food prudes. This location is somewhat sketchy. Not unsafe or dangerous. I mean the building that houses this place is a dive. Doesn't bother me, but might scare off the OCD germaphobes. Run run run. Just amazing. read more

Best Mexican food in Austin hands down!! Service is quick and professional!! 10/10 you will not be disappointed!

Good nachos. Likely small place nothing special but I'd definitely go back. Prices not bad not great.

I prefer pollo regio over rico. The chicken just has a better char and to me a tad more juicier. 1/2 a chicken is great for two persons especially if your partner prefers one type of meat over the other. Also they cut up the chicken for you so it saves a step when you get your meal home. The 1/2 chicken come with a grill onion, 5 tortillas, red and green salsa, charro beans, and rice. The corn tortillas are the typical mass produced ones so I normally swap them for flour which to me is more suited for grilled meats. The green salsa is my favorite with a mild enough kick. I finish off my meal by mixing the rice and beans; the beans are flavorful with bits of pork hock and bean liqueur. They also have carne asada by the pound if you want something different. I normally get this delivered as well so they up charge a few dollars for that. There are more local places that do chicken cheaper and some are just outrageous; this is a good place in the middle. As the cheaper places will run out of chicken. read more

During a recent business trip to Austin, my coworker and I were looking for some good, authentic Mexican food. My Yelp search suggested that El Regio, with its 4 1/2 stars, would be a good bet. As usual, I called to verify their address. El Regio: [says something in Spanish] Me: "Is this El Regio?" ER: "Yes, do you speak Spanish?" Me: "No...ah, where are you located?" ER: [hangs up the phone] At that point, I suggested that we eat somewhere else since 1) the guy just hung up on me, and 2) see reason #1. Coworker: "Why don't you call again and say you were disconnected?" Me: "Because the guy hung up on me." Coworker: "I'll call them and pretend I'm you." El Regio: [utters something in Spanish] Coworker: "Is this El Regio?" ER: "Yes" CW: "I called earlier and we were disconnected. What is your address?" ER: "Do you speak Spanish?" CW: "No." ER: [hangs up the phone]. Coworker: "The guy hung up on me." Me: "Why don't you call again and say you were disconnected?" Coworker: "Okay, let's eat somewhere else." Me: "No, we have to eat there now." CW: "Why?" Me: "Because they can't give directions if you don't speak Spanish ... the food must be authentic." CW: "How will we order?" Me: "We'll point at the pictures." After a short drive, we arrived at a small, unremarkable white shack with a window secured with bars, a poster-sized menu off to the side, and an "El Pollo Regio" sign on top. The shack sits in a well-lit but sketchy area next to a convenience store. I got out of the car and looked for an entrance, but there wasn't one. It's take out only. We bought beer from the convenience store (Dos Equis, of course) and then ordered our dinner. My coworker got a chicken taco and a chicken tostada, and I ordered half a chicken and a chicken taco. The chicken comes with rice, grilled onion, tortillas, beans, lime, and a spicy green sauce. I have to say that the chicken was among the best Mexican food I've ever eaten. It was moist, tender, and very flavorful with just the right blend of spices and herbs--seriously good food. I microwaved the taco the next day for breakfast and ate it with lots of green sauce. Very good also. Bottom Line: 1) Great Mexican food at very reasonable prices, 2) The grilled chicken is awesome ... green sauce is spicy but so good, 3) Take out only...credit cards accepted, 4) Finding a hole-in-the-wall gem like this is why Yelp is indispensable when traveling. read more

I am so ashamed of myself. I've lived just blocks away from this place for years and I just tried it for the first time tonight. What's crazier is I didn't even order the chicken. Hubby insisted on the carne asada, which no one even really Yelps about, and it's like the most delicious meat I've tasted in years! I am 95% sure I will be back to get the chicken within 48 hours. Honestly I think I didn't believe the reviews because I've been to Pollo Rico several times, and although it's always been good, it hasn't been a Five-star/ Yelp-worthy experience. This, and the fact that it is located in a shit gas station parking lot that I avoid even when it's convenient for me to stop at on my way out of the hood, has kept me from this most delicious, extremely reasonable eatery located within freaking walking distance from my own damn home. The carne asada plate is $9 and it will feed two or three hungry people. The flavor------ I just can't explain it. It comes with beans, rice, red salsa, green sauce, a scorched jalepeno, grilled onions, and several corn tortillas. Yum yum yum! I can't wait to try the chicken. read more
