This place is amazing. So welcoming and very inviting. The food is delicious and staff is amazing. I come often to pick up morning tacos and on the weekends swing by for lunch. This morning I went with family and we order just coffee tacos and a menudo. Which my mom says is the only place in Austin she will order it from. I came in for menudo to go because I wasn't in the mood for the continental breakfast at my motel. I ordered at the counter and service was friendly. The food came out shortly afterwards and was well packaged for my short walk back to my motel room. The menudo was hot and filled with tripe. Much more tripe than hominy which made it a very rich menudo. The spice was balanced but did lean towards the milder end. Having grown up in South Texas I appreciate good Mexican food - especially authentic Mexican food from out of the way locally owned places. I found Vazquez Restaurant from a Yelp search and I couldn't be happier. You know it's authentic when you are the only white face in the place and English is not the primary language. My kind of place. The waitress was outstanding. She was always checking on me. The food came out fast. I got the carne guisada with 2 flour tortillas. Gooood. I'm glad the food came fast otherwise I would have filled up on chips and hot sauce. The hot sauce has some heat - the way I like it. I highly recommend this place. Food is great but after 7 years of eating at both locations, this particular one has ALWAYS gotten my order incorrect. Never adding the correct ingredients no matter how often I ask or repeat it. The woman taking the order over the phone seems often rushed or agitated, so maybe ordering via telephone is not the correct option. read more

A solid 3 stars for this neighborhood Mexican restaurant! Service was prompt and very cordial, we came for a light lunch around 1:30 pm on a Sunday and had ample parking and tables to sit at. Upon sitting we got a basket of chips that were warm and toasty: very delicious. The sauce was hot. I guess locals would call that normal- I'm a wimp so I felt the kick! Lol We ordered a carne guisada platter which was tasty and looked very appetizing. I ordered the Taco Pastor no onions, with a flour tortilla- and got a taco pastor. I was disappointed by the looks of what I was presented, but my daughter pointed out that that's exactly what I ordered... I didn't say "platter", so know the magic word for a full meal! Ha! The taco was actually all I needed to have as it was very filling, lots of good meat, but it was also somewhat greasy for my taste. Went today and was definitely dissatisfied food was good but definitely overpriced got enchiladas and guacamole salad to go but did not come with chips and salsa .Guacamole salad didn't have much guacamole it was mainly lettuce and tomato for 11 plus dollars and the waitress who seemed to be in a bad mood was rude .Their menu does not show prices online when I tried to order chip and salsa with my order they were charging everything separately. The tortillas were store bought 2. The eggs were bland 3. Had a hair in my taco 4. Bit into an eggshell. Also prices were a bit hefty, $28.62 for two people's breakfast (that was before tip!!) Has. The classic omelet and coffee for breakfast. That is what they're known for is cheap breakfast and lunch for working class people. This fits the bill as I've got a day of errands today (Saturday) after a rain storm night. Was fairly quiet as I got here an hour after they opened. Everyone is friendly here, they greet you at the door. Decent place to enjoy a Mexican breakfast. My only complaint if I can find one is that they don't have pancakes, maybe another complaint is they aren't open in the evening . read more

What a nice little Mexican restaurant. You don't necessarilynotice it because it is in the middle of a small strip center. This is a simple, home style restaurant that in my opinion, if you want some traditional northern Mexican food, this is a place to get it. This was my first time there. I ordered a ground beef enchilada dinner which includes the enchiladas, Mexican rice, refried beans, and a couple soft flour tortillas. They don't serve the strange fancy foods; just normal Mexican food. I really enjoyed my Enchilada dinner, and plan to go back soon. Vazquez used to be our go-to spot for breakfast tacos, except we usually visit the Braker location. This morning, we switched it up and placed a to-go order here. When we arrived, the order we placed on the phone and verified on the phone was completely wrong. We ordered $50 worth of tacos and they only prepared 2. Order corrected, re-verified. Made the over 30 min drive home. Of course the order is correct after all the drama, right? Nope. Completely wrong tacos and due to an egg allergy, inedible. My husband made the drive back to get the order corrected. This is a first-THEY WOULDN'T CORRECT THE ORDER. WTF?!? A woman at the counter started berating him for "ordering wrong". They wouldn't make it right. They wouldn't make the 9 eggless tacos we ordered. They wouldn't give him a refund. What kind of business does this? A business that doesn't want to be open for long. I'm at a complete loss because I've never been treated so poorly. We will be contesting the charge with the bank tomorrow as we have no food and they took our money. I know times are hard but that doesn't mean you sacrifice customer service and common professional decency. Never again. Because of this experience, we will never go to any Vazquez again. I've been having vazquez breakfast tacos since I was a freshman in High School and I have yet to find another restaurant that serves better tacos then them. Vazquez has a open style seating arrangement inside the restaurant and they serve you chips and salsa. The service is fairly quick and I've almost never had an issue with my orders if I'm picking up rather than dining in. Highly recommend for some of the best breakfast tacos in ATX! read more

His full name is Al Pastor and his meat is strikingly abundant as well as tender and delicious. Al hangs out with his cousin Refried Beans who is quite loud and talkative but very tasty. Guacamole, who is fresh and smooth, is another of Al's buddies. Yeah, that Guacamole is something to behold. And his friends Chip and Salsa are salty and hot! They both can really turn a girl's head.
