Met friends at Enchiladas Y Mas on Anderson Lane. This restaurant is definitely local with a neighborhood feel... looks like a previous home.. It has typical Tex Mex food...enchiladas, tamales and fajitas. Ironically we all got a different version on the Mexican plate - enchilada, rice and beans. I chose the chicken enchiladas with chili sauce....great taste and right about of food. Also, we received complimentary tortilla chips with two types of salsa. Amy, our server, was very attentive and was deftly managing multiple tables. Ice cold water served...check....meals delivered...check...checks distributed...check! I was visiting from Missouri, my son took me to one of his favorite spots that he found when he moved to Austin some years back. We went on a Friday and had a short wait, but OMG, so worth it! I have been a fan of enchiladas. He asked for a very long time. Today I ordered the chef special, but his two tostadas with queso and on the tostadas one has beans. The other one has beef or chicken. I've ordered this many times today was offered fajita chicken with it. It was so delicious. I can't believe I missed out on all this for so long! But then I got the bill. I had no idea that it was almost 6 dollars more to get fajita chicken versus regular chicken. What a rip! I should've been told about the app charge instead of it being offered with no indication of the up charge. I could've just ordered chicken fajitas and it would've been about the same price. So that up charged with a shocker plus add your tax and tip on it and lunch is no longer affordable at enchiladas y mas. read more

Some of the very best enchiladas in Austin! The salsa has a great kick and the chips are always fresh. They also have an extra spicy salsa version that is available by request. The beef fajita taco a la Mexicana is delicious. Ask for it by name....I don't think it is on the menu. They get really crowded during dinner, so expect to wait a bit. Came here with a friend for dinner and I really loved it here! Our server was so nice and gave us good recommendations when we ordered and our food came out quick! I ordered the carne guisada and it was so flavorful and tender. The refried beans are also super good here. My friend got the chicken enchiladas with the verde sauce and sour cream sauce which I tried and the flavor was alright but the chicken was super dry unfortunately. Pulling up, it didn't look very nice in the outside but to my surprise, there was a ton of business inside, so I expected there must've been good reason. I hate a mixed review but that's what I have today. I will almost definitely visit again because the mixed fajitas nachos were delicious. The enchiladas with chicken were lacking flavor and originality though. They have a big menu, so I'm sure you'll find something to like. There's plenty of staff in this no frills restaurant. Parking can get complicated, but there's ample seating. I visited during lunchtime and was able to get sat relatively quickly. They serve Coke products here. It's definitely worth a try. read more

We got to this place at almost 8pm on a Friday. It was packed and wait time was about 45 minutes. There is nothing fancy about it, pretty much the opposite, but it is just like your grandmas house when all the family comes for dinner. It's chaotic, loud, but you know the food will be amazing. I ordered the small queso and it was very good. The chips were crispy, salty and still warm. I had a large frozen margarita and that thing is dangerously good and very strong. For main, I had the beef enchilada that comes with refried beans and rice. The plate comes piping hot from the kitchen, so be careful, but it was amazing. The crowd is getting younger on us at this place but it's a refreshing atmosphere. A tip for you seniors like me, look at the child's menu. We are included and it's a great value for the money. This is your typical tex mex food - cheesy, greasy, sizzling. I think the food is pretty average for tex mex and don't have complaints. The salsa was fresh and so spicy, I really liked it. Atmosphere is a hole in the wall complete with flickering light over our head, it was a bit distracting. The waitress was so friendly and upbeat it was a nice experience. Everyone at the table ordered margaritas, which were delicious. We also each ordered our own enchilada plate, which was so inexpensive and came with a ton of food. I love enchiladas and Mexican food in general, and I thought their enchiladas were perfectly cooked and the meat was perfectly seasoned. I also love their rice, beans, and salsa. Probably the best, most authentic enchiladas in Austin (coming from a San Antonio native)! And the prices are incredibly fair, considering the typically overpriced TexMex places that are ample around Austin. I arrived just around the 6pm dinner rush on a Friday evening, and it was about a 20 min. wait. They run pretty efficiently, and we were seated in no time. There's also plenty of parking across their 2 lots and street parking. Service was quick and simple. The chips and salsa were good, and more importantly, the enchiladas hit the spot!
